Water is leaking into your car through the sunroof during rain, flowing directly into your driver's side fuse box and collecting on the floorboard. This water is causing all your fuses to blow repeatedly, which knocks out your headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and driver's side controls (door locks, trunk release, and other electrical functions). You've cleaned the sunroof drains multiple times without success, and the constant water damage has also created mold growth inside the car. The fix will likely involve inspecting and resealing the sunroof drainage system, checking for clogged drain lines, and possibly replacing damaged electrical components and the fuse box.

KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AND I CANT TURN CAR OFF.
TRUNK WIRING HARNESS HAS SHORT CURCUIT WILL NOT OPEN . DEALER RECOMMEND REMOVE AND REPLACE TRUNK WIRING HARNESS.
AFTER DRIVING ALL DAY WITH NO PROBLEM, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I DROVE A LITTLE FURTHER AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO TURN OFF EITHER. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AND WD-40, THEY WE ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF. IT APPEARS THAT THE ISSUE IS THE IGNITION SWITCH. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THERE ARE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS WITH VOLKSWAGEN, YET THERE IS NOT A RECALL. THE REPLACEMENT WILL BE ABOUT $650. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED ELECTRICAL ISSUES INVOLVING ABS AND AIRBAGS THAT WERE CLOSE TO $2000. AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I'M READY TO GET RID OF THIS CAR AND NEVER OWN ANOTHER VOLKSWAGEN.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT TO NEUTRAL ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE CRASHES ATTEMPTING TO MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD THE MECHATRONIC UNIT HAS FAILED AND HAVE BEEN QUOTED $2,360. THIS IS A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR CONCERN IF THIS BECOMING AN ISSUE AND THE FAILURE OF THIS DEVICE COULD HAVE CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.
SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY. NO NEARBY VEHICLES, NO OBVIOUS SOURCE OF IMPACT. SUNROOF WAS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. GLASS MOSTLY CONTAINED ABOVE SUNSHADE (WHICH WAS CLOSED) BUT SOME FELL THROUGH AIR SLOTS AT THE FRONT. VERY LOUD BANG, LIKE A GUNSHOT WHEN IT EXPLODED. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 56F, JUST CROSSING SNOQUALMIE PASS IN WA STATE AROUND 1PM.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE SPEAKERS MADE A LOUD POP AND THE ENTIRE STEREO SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING (RADIO WAS NOT ON). THIS INCLUDED BLUETOOTH AND ALL HANDS-FREE FUNCTIONS FOR COMMUNICATION. THOUGH THE RADIO IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THE BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE FUNCTION IS VITAL, AND IT WILL NOT WORK. I'VE CALLED VW AND HAD IT LOOKED AT, AND LEARNED THAT VW IS AWARE THAT MANY OF THEIR 2010 VW JETTAS WERE MADE WITH FAULTY RADIOS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE, AND VW REFUSES A RECALL. MULTIPLE VW EMPLOYEES SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, BUT THE COMPANY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I'VE QUOTED REPLACEMENT COST AND IT FALLS BETWEEN $700 AND $800 TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE MY HANDS FREE FUNCTION THAT WAS PART OF THE REASON I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN FIGHTING THIS FOR A FEW YEARS, HOPING VW WOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP, BUT THEY STILL HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING ANYTIME THAT WE WOULD SLOW DOWN OR PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE WOULD GO RANDOMLY IN NEUTRAL. IT WAS RANDOMLY THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID WE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED SOON. RIGHT BEFORE THIS THEIR WERE ABOUT ANOTHER $3,000 WORTH OF ISSUES WE HAD TO FIX.
KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION FREQUENTLY! IT GETS STUCK AND WILL NOT TURN FAR ENOUGH TO TURN ON AND IT ALSO GETS STUCK WHERE YOU CANNOT TURN IT OFF! I HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES (UP TO 30 MIN) TO TRY AGAIN TO START OR TURN OFF THE CAR. THIS IS A WASTE OF MY TIME AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANY VW VEHICLE EVER AGAIN!
THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL IF ON A HILL. THIS IS ONGOING
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND 9 OR 10AM IT WAS CLEAR AND SUNNY. TRAFFIC WAS MODERATE I WAS GOING ABOUT 45MPH. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THERE BRAKES AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I WAS AT LEAST 3 OR 4 MAYBE MORE CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THEM WHEN I SAW THEM BRAKE. I WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT STOPPING AS I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM BUT WHEN I WENT TO SLOW DOWN I ENDED UP PUSHING MY BREAK PEDDLE ALL THE WAY DOWN COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE FLOOR, YET I WAS NOT BRAKING THAN AS I GOT CLOSER I TRIED TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE W WERE ON THE FAR LEFT INSIDE PANE THE CARPOOL LANE. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL I SEEMED TO BE LOCKED I THEN TRIED TO TURN TO THE RIGHT AND AGAIN I WAS LOCKED. SO I BRACED FOR IMPACT BECAUSE MY BREAKS WERE NOT BRAKING AND I COULD NOT TURN M STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT AND I ENDED UP SPAMMING INTO THE BACK OF THERE SUV GOING ROUGHLY 45MPH. MY SPEED NEVER SLOWED ANY. MY CAR WAS TOTALLED SPILLING RADIATOR FLUID ALL OVER THE ROADWAY. HE TO BE TOWED . I WAS ESSENTIALLY RENDERED HOPELESS UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP AND UNABLE TO SWERVE NEITHER DIRECTION SO I OUL AT LEAST AVAPID HITTING THE CAR ON FONT OF ME. I WAS UNABLE TO AVOID THIS ACCIDENT THAT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN EVEN THINKABLE HAD THE BRAKES NO LOCKED AND THE STEERING WHEEL NOT LOCKED. I WAS GIVEN A TICKET FOR REARENDING THEM. I A FEW MONTHS LATER DID A SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS JETTA HAD A RECALL STATING THE ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS YET I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE . I TODAY CHECKED VIN NUMBER AND NOW IT STATES NO RECALL. PLEASE HELP. THIS ACCIDENT UAS CAUSED ME LOTS OF ISSUES. EVEN TODAY I STILL AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE ALMOST 1YR LATER. I DO NO HAVE PICTURES OR REPORTS TO UPLOAD BUT A STATE PATROL OFFICER DID DO A COLLISION REPORT YJAT IS AVAILABLE. I JUST DONT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A COPY.
WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR YEARS. A FEW YEARS AGO THE CAR ROLLED BACK INTO A DRIVEWAY WALL CAUSING SOME DAMAGE AFTER DEPARTING THE CAR.
MY CAR WAS STATIONARY. I PUT MY KEY INTO THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR AND AT FIRST IT WOULDN'T TURN BUT THEN IT DID AND STARTED. DROVE FROM WORK TO HOME AND THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK. TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF BUT THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. CAR WAS STUCK ON AND RUNNING.
I PURCHASED A USED 2010 VW JETTA IN 2016 WITH 52000 MILES. ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMITTION. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY VW DEALER IN JULY 2017
WE HAVE BEEN VICTIMS OF THE WELL KNOWN LONG STANDING IGNITION KEY STUCK ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. SHE STALLED THE CAR IN THE INTERSECTION THEN TRIED TO RESTART BUT THE KEY WAS STUCK. FORTUNATELY A COUPLE NICE GUYS HELPED HER PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD AND I WAS LATER ABLE TO GET THE KEY TO TURN AND GET THE CAR HOME. WHEN I GOT THE CAR HOME IT TOOK ME NEARLY 30 MINUTES TO TURN THE CAR OFF. VW HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. SO I'M SPENDING YET ANOTHER WEEKEND FIXING THIS PIECE OF JUNK. GERMAN ENGINEERING IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO SAY COLLECTION OF STUPID IDEAS. FOR EXAMPLE THEY TWIST THE HEADS OFF THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE PROBLEMATIC SWITCH IN DURING MANUFACTURE. NO I'M NOT KIDDING FOLKS.
IGNITION SYSTEM KEEPS FAILING. CAR KEYS GET STUCK AND CAR WON'T TURN OFF AND HAVING A HARD TIME TUNING THE KEY TO START THE CAR. EACH TIME THE CAR IS PARKED AND THE STEERING LOCK IS DISENGAGED.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED.
IN LATE 2016 I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE PENDING VOLKSWAGEN/AUDI DIESEL EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO I I WENT THROUGH THE VERIFICATION PROCESS AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT: 1-MY CAR IS IN THE BUY BACK GROUP 2-VW WILL PAY IT OFF AND 3-VW WILL GIVE ME $800 AND SOME DOLLARS FINALIZING THE TRANSACTION I HAVE HAD THIS CAR READY TO DROP OFF AND WAITING FOR 3 MONTHS. I AM NOW 2 PAYMENTS BEHIND AS I WAS EXPECTING FOR VW TO HONOR THEIR COMMITMENT, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. VOLKSWAGEN IS APPARENTLY NOT DISPLAYING A SENSE OF URGENCY WITH THE BAD FAITH SHOWN BY DELAYING THIS PROCESS. I AM AWARE THAT THEIR CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE AT OUR LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN APPRISED OF MY SITUATION AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. CAN/WILL NHTSA 'COMPEL' THEM TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEIR AGREEMENT. I HAVE HAD A ;LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND HAVE FILED A BBB COMPLAINT ON THEM ALSO REGARDING THIS AND ANOTHER ISSUE. PLEAS HELP ME. THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED. IT'S ABOUT A $1,000 TO FIX AND IS A COMPONENT IN A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI. I'VE HEARD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.
RADIO FAILURE: RADIO WAS WORKING REGULARLY AND STOPPED WORKING UPON TURNING ON THE CAR. DISPLAY IS BLACK.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE RADIO JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE HANDSFREE FOR THE RADIO IS NOT WORKING AS WELL. I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD AT THE SPEED OF 25-30 MILES PER HOUR.
CAR WORKED FINE THE EVENING BEFORE. STARTED THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT THE NEXT DAY AND THE RADIO DIDN'T WORK. THERE WASN'T ANY SCREEN OR NOISE. THE PHONE DIDN'T WORK EITHER. THE FUSES WERE CHECKED AND ALL WERE GOOD. THE RADIO (DELPHI P/N 28252585, VW # 1K0035180 AC), WAS TAKEN OUT AND ALL CONNECTIONS WERE GOOD AND TIGHT AS WELL. THERE ARE DIFFERENT WEBSITES FILLED WITH EXAMPLES OF THIS RADIO FAILURE AND VW RECONSTRUCTING A PROPER UNIT FOR 2012. PLEASE BE PROACTIVE AND SEARCH THE WEB FOR YOURSELF AND AS PART OF DOING YOUR JOB. I SEE NO REASON THIS ISN'T A RECALLED ITEM. PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME AND INCLUDE BOTH YOUR NAME AND TITLE. THE LEFT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS WHEN USING THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL. SOMETIMES NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN USING THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL. SOMETIMES THE LEFT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS. THIS IS INTERMITTENT WITH NO INDICATION WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. OFTEN IT WILL OCCUR ON REGULAR BASIS FOR A FEW MONTHS, THEN START WORKING NORMAL AGAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS.
INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. ENGINE DIED AS IF THE CAR RAN OUT OF FUEL. TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURNOVER. IT WOULD ONLY CRANK. ACTED LIKE IT RAN OUT OF FUEL BUT THERE WAS HALF A TANK OF FUEL.
DSG MECHATRON UNIT FAILURE: VEHICLE HAD MULTIPLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYS. THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, THEN GO OFF FOR SOME TIME AND THE DEALER KEPT TELLING ME IT WAS PROBABLY A GAS CAP ISSUE. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 4-8 TIMES OF THIS HAPPENING I ADVISED THE DEALER I WAS BRINING IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT. DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF ON SEPT 8TH AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PART WILL COME IN. HAVE SAID IT MAY BE NOVEMBER 7TH, BUT THAT IS NOT GUARANTEED. THIS VEHICLE HAD CHANGED GEARS WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST MADE IT UNCONTROLLABLE FOR HER AND IT IS NOT SAFE. *TT
VEHICLE STUMBLES USUALLY WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE OF MILES OF TRAVEL AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. USUALLY OCCURS DURING MILD ACCELERATION AND AROUND 30-45 MPH. VEHICLE DOES THIS VERY OFTEN. I HAVE READ MUCH ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON LINE AND HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR ABOUT A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. SOUNDS LIKE VW HAS STILL NOT OFFERED UP A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AFTER MANY MONTHS SO I NOW WISH TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. I HAD CONVERSATION WITH VW IN WHICH I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A DIESEL "PERSONALITY TRAIT". WELL I BELIEVE THIS PERSONALITY TRAIT MAY ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SEVERAL OCCASIONS OF STALLING OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A START. THE SO CALLED PERSONALITY TRAIT CAN OCCUR WHEN YOU ARE ENGAGING THE CLUTCH FROM A STANDING STILL POSITION. IF THIS HAPPENS IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THIS IS NOT SAFE. IF TRUE HOWEVER I HAVE NO WAY TO PROVE IT. THE ONLY PROOF THAT IS REPEATABLE IS THE STUMBLING ISSUE.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IT IS USUALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AND OFTEN WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS OVER 80 F. *TT
1. THE HORN IS HARD TO PRESS, AND SLOW TO REACT. A FEW TIMES I NEEDED TO USE FOR SAFETY AND ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT AS HORN DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. 2. WHEN PRESSING THE HORN, ONE HAS TO PUT MORE THAN ADEQUATE PRESSURE. ONCE IT IS PRESSED, THERE IS A DELAY OF ABOUT A SECOND BEFORE THE HORN BLOWS. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME IT'S PRESSED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE HORN IS A GOOD TOOL TO ALERT OTHER DRIVERS TO PREVENT COLLISION. 3. DEALER SAYS IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE.
