FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Fusion, Police Interceptor Sedan and Police Interceptor Utility vehicles; and certain model year 2013 Lincoln MKS, MKT, and MKZ vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the fuel delivery module may develop a crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel delivery module, free of charge. The recall began on July 20, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall campaign number is 13S04.

The contact's granddaughter owned a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that while her granddaughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver looked in the rearview mirror and noticed black smoke coming from the rear seats of the vehicle. The contact stated that the driver's sons were in car seats in the rear seats of the vehicle. The driver immediately pulled over to the side of the road, exited the vehicle, and took her sons out of the vehicle. The contact stated that the entire vehicle then caught on fire. The contact stated that the driver's side of the vehicle was more burned than the rest of the vehicle. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department, who informed the contact's granddaughter that the fire might have originated from the trunk of the vehicle. It was unknown whether a Police report or a Fire Department report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed and could be totaled. The driver's mother transported the driver and her sons to the emergency room due to smoke inhalation. It was unknown whether injuries were sustained. SAFETY RECALL 13S04
My fuel tank has an excessive build up of gasses and it causes a loud burping noise at the fuel door flap. I do have a Video of this incident.
An unknown component of the fuel system is faulty, causing a very strong odor of fuel to enter the cabin upon starting up, as well as when coming to a stop & idling. The manufacturer has not inspected the vehicle, but an automotive technician confirmed the odor and attempted to remedy the problem by replacing the evaporative system lines, with no change. Fuel lines and tank/vent were inspected, with no fault found. The odor can cause a feeling of illness & headache when driving. It is unknown if there is a leak which could lead to a fire. No warning lamps.

When putting gas and or driving in low idle car stalls As if the fuel pump is bad
Gasoline leak from gas tank. The fuel sender failed at 60,000 miles, had it replaced. Vin not under recall. Now fuel leak from replaced fuel sender. Again Vin not in recalled units. WTF?

When my fuel tank is filled the vehicle won't start and while driving the vehicle will stall out. The code on the check engine light comes back as P1450. This is telling me the canister purge valve needs replaced. After researching online I see this is a common problem for the 2013 Ford Fusion.
My car doesn't start after getting gas, it stalls while driving (which is very scary), feels like it's not getting enough gas at times and then will jump forward like it got too much gas at times. I took it to get it tested and was told it's the purge valve. This has been recalled in older models of the Fusion, as well as the Ford Focus. I have the same issue, but the 2013 isn't included in the recall. It needs to be covered under the recall because I'm sure my vehicle is not the only one. It's a huge issue, as it's not safe to drive.

2013 FORD FUSION TITANIUM: ENGINE SHAKES THEN SHUTS ITS SELF OFF WHEN STARTING THE CAR AND DRIVING (HUGE SAFETY ISSUE,) TAKES A MINUTE TO START THEN EITHER RUNS FINE OR SHUTS OFF AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST YEAR (2020) AND THEY REPLACE A FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THEN WHEN OFF AFTER A COUPLE DAYS. THE CODE WAS THE SAME AS LAST TIME. I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH FORD ON FRIDAY. I SPEND SO MUCH MONEY REPAIRING THIS CAR. I'D RATHER TRADE IT IN THAN FIX A NEW AND OLD PROBLEM EVERY 4 MONTHS.
A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED CAUSING THE OWNER (MYSELF) TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AS THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR SIMULTANEOUSLY FAILING. THE ONLY WARNING SIGNS PREVIOUSLY WAS THE CAR STALLING AND TURNING OFF (DASH BOARD STAYED ILLUMINATED). THIS WOULD HAPPEN AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND EITHER PUTTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE OR DRIVING WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR THIS ISSUE AND AN ISSUE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE IDENTIFIED AT THE TIME. UPON OWNER INVESTIGATION AT A LATER DATE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THESE ISSUED HAD BEEN REPORTED TO BE RELATED.
PURGE VALVE STICKING.
MY VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON , SCANNED IT AND THE CODE GENERATED WAS P1450 WHICH IS THE UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM. THIS HAS HAD A AFFECT ON MY CAR WHILE DRIVING IT HAS STALLED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY, AND HAS STALLED AT LOWER SPEEDS AS WELL AND MAKING A TURN . IT MAKES A LOUD VACUUM NOISE AND YOU CAN HEAR THE WHINING OR WHISTLING OF THE PUMP OR HOSE NEAR THE FUEL TANK UNDER THE DRIVER DOOR AND UNDER THE HOOD . I LOOKED UP SIMILAR INFO ON THE FORD RECALL SITE AND SEEN THIS RECALL # 18S32 . SO I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE INFORMED ME THAT IT DON'T COVER MY FORD VEHICLE , BUT THERE'S A RECALL FOR THIS , SO I'M NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY IT DON'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE.
FUEL FILL INLET LIGHT ON. VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AFTER SECOND GEAR.
INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE WOULD IDLE ROUGH AFTER FILLING GAS TANK. ALSO AFTER A 30 MIN OR SO DRIVE IT WOULD STALL AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY AND THEN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO RESTART AND IDLE VERY ROUGH. IT WOULD ALSO MAKE A POPPING NOISE THAT WOULD COME FROM THE GAS TANK. *TR
MY FORD FUSION WAS IN MOTION WHEN I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE FROM THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL LEVELS WERE DECREASING RAPIDLY, MY CAR WAS NOT GOING FORWARD, AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR; ALL OF GAS WAS LEAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I SEE THAT MY MAKE AND MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE (FORD'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 13S04) BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED FOR THAT RECALL BUT IT SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE STATED IN RECALL NUMBER 13S04.

CODE P0087 FUELRAIL/SYSTEM PRESSURE TOO LOW
AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND I GOT OUT, I SMELLED GASOLINE. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND ALL AROUND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND COULD NOT SEE ANY LEAKS. I USED A FLASHLIGHT AND A MIRROR BUT DID NOT REMOVE ANY PANELS. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST FUMES, BUT THE GASOLINE SMELL WAS JUST AS STRONG AFTER I DROVE THE CAR THE NEXT TIME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE UNDER BODY FUEL LINES JUST FORWARD OF THE FUEL TANK WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND LEAKING. THERE IS A RETAINING CLIP THAT SECURES THE LINE AND THAT IS WHERE THE LINE WAS RUSTED. THERE WAS NEVER EVIDENCE OF A FUEL LEAK OTHER THAN THE SMELL, BECAUSE THE SPLASH GUARD THAT GOES UNDER THE FUEL LINE WAS PREVENTING THE LEAK FROM MAKING IT TO THE GROUND. I COULD NOT SMELL THE GASOLINE WHILE DRIVING, ONLY AFTER EXITING THE CAR.
AFTER I FILL THE GAS TANK AND PARK MY CAR IN THE GARAGE, I CAN SMELL GAS. AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN A FEW MILES THE SMELL GOES AWAY. THE SMELL IS ONLY PRESENT RIGHT AFTER I FILL THE TANK UP UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL DROPS DOWN FROM FULL. THIS ONLY STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO BUT HAS BEEN PRESENT EVERY TIME THE TANK HAS BEEN FILLED SINCE THEN. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM (13S04) SO I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO TRY TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE RECALL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I AM PRETTY SURE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THE RECALL WAS CREATED TO FIX SO I THINK THAT FORD SHOULD RE-LOOK AT WHAT CARS THEY ARE WILLING TO REPAIR. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY EASILY COULD HAVE OVERLOOKED SOME CARS THAT HAD THAT PROBLEM.

THE ISSUE SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR MOVING AT LOW SPEEDS.

THE IDLE OF MY ENGINE IS ROUGH AND WHEN AT A LOW IDLE IN TRAFFIC IT FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL. LATELY, MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED DRIVING AT LOW SPEED UP A PARKING STRUCTURE. IT COMPLETELY STALLED AGAIN WHEN PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK IT IN, BUT THE MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND A SENSOR TRIGGERING THE ISSUE.
CURRENTLY OUR VECHICLE IS BACK IN THE DEALERSHIP. WE ARE A FORD DRIVING FAMILY. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. EVERY RECALL. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, DUE TO AIR IN TANK. THEN PAID 2000$ AND HAD IT FOR 2WKS. THIS WAS AT THE END OF JULY 2018. FOR LECTRONIC ISSUE. NOW, THE NEW PROBLEM THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. WE WERE BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVE. BLACKTOP DRIVEWAY. ONCE YOUR SHIFT INTO DRIVE FORWARD THE CAR SHUTS OFF. A MECHANIC SYMBOL APPEARS. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE AUTOMAX FORD SERVICE IN KILLEEN TX 76544. THIS IS A BAD SIGN. WE DID BUY IT USED, THINKING IT WAS A GOOD DEAL BUT THINK THIS VECHICLE HAS BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. IT HAD HAIL DAMAGE ON IT THAT THE DEALER DIDN'T EVEN SEE THAT, I DID AND THEY FIXED THAT. WHEN HAVING THE CAR SERVICED, I WAS ASKED IF I WAS AWARE OF THE SMELL OF GAS AND THE VISUAL LEAK. I WAS NOT, AS MY NOSE WAS DAMAGED AND I HAVE NO SENSE OF SMELL. TWO DAYS LATER, I FILLED UP WITH GAS AND IT STALLED OUT WHILE IN MOTION AT 40 MILES AN HOUR, AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES, IT STALLED AGAIN AT THE RED LIGHT. I CAN FEEL THE CAR BEGINNING TO STALL, SO I PUT IT IN PARK, SO I CAN GIVE IT GAS... SOMETIMES THIS WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY INSTANCES WHERE I'M IN THE INTERSECTION, AT A MEDIAN, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR WILL STALL OUT... THIS IS VERY CONCERNING, AND DANGEROUS... MY LIFE AS WELL AS OTHERS COULD BE IN DANGER DUE TO A FAULTY SYSTEM.
BAD MANAGEMENT VALVE PART #DG9Z90279D NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOLD IT WAS ON BACK ORDER FOR THE NEXT 2-3 MONTHS. OVER 750 PENDING ORDERS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SOME VEHICLES BEING RECALLED FOR REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE ISN'T ON THE RECALL LIST BUT IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERNS THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR. THIS FAULTY VALVE IS CAUSE PRESSURE TO BUILD UP IN THE FUEL TANK THAT COULD POSSIBLE CAUSE AN EXPLOSION OR FIRE. WAITING 2-3 MONTHS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. ALSO, NO WARNING TO MYSELF WAS PROVIDED FROM THE 2 DEALERSHIPS THAT DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE AND THAT I TALKED TO TO GET THIS PART. I ONLY FOUND OUT BY DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH. THIS 2013 FORD FUSION HAS BEGUN RANDOMLY SPUTTERING AND THEN STALLING WHEN ACCELERATING (THE VEHICLE HAS 95,000 MILES ON IT). YOU CAN PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT JUST FINE, BUT THEN MAY DO IT AGAIN IN 30 SECOND OR NEVER AGAIN THE REST OF THE TRIP. IT TENDS TO APPEAR ONCE YOU STOP FOR 10-20 MINUTES AND GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE - BUT EVEN THEN, CAN BE HIT AND MISS. LATELY IN THIS SCENARIO IT'S BEEN STALLING 2 TO 3 TIMES BEFORE RUNNING FINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECOGNIZED FORD ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. WHILE FORD APPEARS TO RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON SOME 2013 FORD FUSIONS (UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03), I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT PROGRAM. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $875 PLUS TAX OF WHICH ONLY $120 WAS LABOR - THIS MAKES THE PART $755. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ACROSS THE ENTIRE LINE. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN MULTIPLE PLACES WHERE I HAVE HAD TRAFFIC COMING AT ME OR BEHIND ME WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILS. IN FACT, THE OTHER DAY IT DIED PULLING OUT OF A STORE IN FRONT OF TWO ONCOMING LANES OF TRAFFIC - FORTUNATELY BOTH VEHICLES COMING DIRECTLY AT MY DRIVERS SIDE WERE ABLE TO GET THEIR VEHICLES STOPPED BEFORE T-BONING ME. PLEASE REQUIRE FORD TO EXPAND ITS PROGRAM.
I OWN A 2013 FORD FUSION WITH 94,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A ONE LANE ROAD AND THE GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG PRIOR TO THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION CONTROL. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATION/THROTTLE; HOWEVER, POWER REMAINED ON IN THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN A WRENCH LIGHT THAT SAID CHECK MANUAL. I WAS TRAVELING 65MPH AND HAD TO PULL OVER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN AND IT STARTED UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP. THE REPAIR SHOP PERFORMED A FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE AND CLEARED THE CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK MANUAL LIGHTS. FOUR DAYS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD TO PULL OVER 3 TIMES AND ONCE WHERE I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN BACK ON IN THE ONE LANE ROAD AS THERE WAS NO PULL OFF AREA. AFTER THE LAST TIME I RESTARTED THE CAR, I HAD A REDUCED THROTTLE BUT MANAGED TO MAKE IT ABOUT 2 MILES TO WORK (AT THIS POINT THE SPEED IS REDUCED TO 45MPH). I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SAME REPAIR SHOP. THE REPAIR SHOP HAD THEIR MASTER MECHANIC LOOK AT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT FORD ISSUED A CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. THIS WAS TO INCLUDE CERTAIN 2009 THROUGH 2013 MODEL YEAR FUSION, MILAN, ESCAPE AND MARINER VEHICLES. I CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THOSE WITH THE VINS IN THE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OTHER THAN THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION/THROTTLE.

I WENT TO A GAS IN TOWN AND FILLED UP MY CAR AND ONLY GOT 223 TO A FULL TANK AND THEN IT SLOWLY CREEPED UP AS I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN TO 289. BUT I NORMALLY GET 330-350 TO A FULL TANK. BUT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT AND THE DEALERSHIP FILLED IT UP, I GOT OVER 400 TO A FULL TANK.
GAS IS LEAKING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. FIRST NOTICED A GAS SMELL FROM THE AIR VENTS SO I INITIALLY THOUGHT A LEAKING INJECTOR, HOWEVER WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR IT WAS CLEARLY LEAKING GAS FROM SOMEWHERE. I DID SOME MINOR RESEARCH AND SAW THAT THIS YEAR HAS SEVERAL RECALLS FOR LEAKING FUEL SYSTEMS HOWEVER I CAN'T FIND A RECALL FOR THIS UNDER THIS PARTICULAR VIN.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 10MPH) THE CAR BEGINS TO RUN VERY ROUGH, RPM DROPS, AND WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THERE IS NO POWER, AND THE CAR THEN DIES. I HAD TO SHUTDOWN THE CAR COMPLETELY ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO RESPOND TO ANY TIME OF GAS DEMANDS. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING AND BELIEVE I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE LOSING POWER WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 75MPH CAN LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC RESULTS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE IT CAUSES IMMEDIATE PANIC FROM THE DRIVER AS THEY ATTEMPT TO DRIVE SAFELY OUT OF THE TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME, FORD MECHANICS BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON THE RECALLED FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT. SINCE CLEARLY THAT WAS NOT THE REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM, I BELIEVE THAT MORE INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE TO UNDERSTAND THE FULL SCOPE OF THE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER THAT MYSELF AND MANY OTHER HAVE EXPERIENCED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS (0-10 MPH) THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. SOMETIMES WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE DOESN'T RESPOND, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO FURTHER PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, AND WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY RESPONDS, IT RAPIDLY ACCELERATES. *TR
THIS PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING . YOU COULD BE GOING THRU AN INTERSECTION OR GETTING ON THE HIGH WAY .THE PROBLEM IS WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENS NO ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. THE CAR THEN GOES INTO A LIMP HOME MODE OF SORTS, WITH AN TOP SPEED OF 25 MPH THEN 5 MPH THEN BACK TO 25 MPH , IT'S KIND OF THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN THERE'S WATER IN YOUR GAS. GOING UP ANY HILLS CAN BE A PROBLEM AS THE ENGINE DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER FOR THIS TASK. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR SOMEONE BEING KILLED. *TR

AFTER LEAVING WORK AND DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, THE CAR EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. IT WAS SUNNY OUTSIDE AND WARM. THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WAS NOT IN USE. WHILE DRIVING IN EV MODE, THE CAR DROPPED ITS SPEED FROM 25 MPG TO 2MPH. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND HAD TO DRIVE 2 BLOCKS UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER. THE CAR DISPLAY FLASHED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. THE CAR DISPLAY AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHTED WENT DARK. THE CAR DID NOT SWITCH TO THE GAS ENGINE AND THE GAS ENGINE DID NOT TURN ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND 50 ERROR CODES ON THE CAR. A FEW DAYS AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER, I WAS DRIVING IN EV MODE IN A PARKING LOT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BUCKED AND SWITCHED INTO GAS ENGINE MODE. THE DISPLAY LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TURNED YELLOW AND THE CAR TOOK ITSELF OUT OF EV MODE. *JS

I CANT FILL TANK ALL THE WAY OR THE FUEL GAUGE READING IS BAD. *TR
"CHECK FUEL FILL PORT" LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I HIT "OK" AND THEN IT GOES OFF. HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH IT, SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THEY SIMPLY RESET THE CODE, AND TOLD ME THAT GAS PUMP NOZZLES "ARE SOMETIMES DIRTY" AND CAN TRIP THE SENSOR. ONE WEEK LATER, THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND I WILL TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP THIS WEEK. WORRY THERE COULD BE A GAS LEAK, AS AFTER I FILL THE TANK COMPLETELY, THE GAUGE SINKS TO 3/4 OF A TANK IN ABOUT 5 MILES. *TR
LIKE MANY OTHER 2013 FUSION OWNERS, I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WHEN REFUELING. THE BEST EXAMPLE THUS FAR WAS PURPOSELY RUNNING DOWN TO THREE MILES TO EMPTY BEFORE REFUELING. I WAS ABLE TO PUMP ONLY 12.861 GALLONS INTO THE 16.5 GALLON TANK - THIS INCLUDED THREE TOP-OFF CLICKS OF THE PUMP. I HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THIS ISSUE OUT. THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME HE CONTACTED FORD ENGINEERING REGARDING THE CONCERN. FORD REPLIED THAT THEY KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND WERE WORKING ON A SOLUTION AT THAT TIME. I HAVE READ THAT OTHERS WERE TOLD BY DEALERSHIPS THAT THE TANK DOES FILL, BUT THAT FORD SET THE FUEL GAUGE TO ALLOW FOR A RESERVE AFTER ZERO MILES TO EMPTY. IF THIS IS TRUE, THERE IS A 22% RESERVE ALLOWANCE IN MY CASE NOTED ABOVE. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CONSUMER MUST KNOW, WITH REASONABLE ACCURACY, THE FUEL LEVEL OF THEIR VEHICLE SO THEY DO NOT RUN OUT OF FUEL ON BUSY OR REMOTE ROADS FORD NEEDS TO RESPOND TO DEALERS/CUSTOMERS TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE, AND WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE TO RESOLVE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND WOULD PROVIDE ERRONEOUS FUEL LEVEL READINGS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD ONLY REGISTER FOURTEEN OF THE SIXTEEN GALLONS OF FUEL THAT WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A 2013 TITANIUM AND ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL IT HAS A 16.5 GAL TANK. THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY DISPLAY STATED 3 MILES TO EMPTY SO I REFUELED. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET IN 12.779 GAL INTO THE TANK WHEN IT CLICKED OFF. AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE IS ALWAYS BELOW THE FULL LINE. SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS HAVE POSTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD THEIR FUEL TANKS REPLACED OF WHICH CORRECTED THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, THE PUMP "KICKED OFF" PRIOR TO A FULL TANK AS DISPLAYED BY DIGITAL FUEL GAUGE (JUST UNDER FULL). I DROVE 25 MILES AND FUEL GAUGE THEN SHOWED BETWEEN FULL AND 3/4 TANK. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INACCURACY WITH THE CALIBRATION OF THE GAUGE AND/OR AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT CAN BE PUT INTO TANK, WITH RESPECT TO TANK CAPACITY, BEFORE PUMP "KICK OFF". *TR
MY 2013 FUSION S SHOULD HAVE A 16.5 GAL TANK, BUT WHEN I GOT THE LOW FUEL LEVEL LIGHT ON TODAY, I CAN ONLY PUT 12.5 GAL INTO THE TANK BEFORE THE FIRST KICK-OFF. THE TANK CAN NOT BY FULLY FILLED! *TR
THE FORD FUSION FUEL TANK IN MY 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE DOES NOT FILL ALL THE WAY. IT IS DOCUMENTED AS A 16.5 GALLON TANK, HOWEVER EVEN RUNNING TO EMPTY I AM ONLY ABLE TO FILL 12-13 GALLONS. TO ME, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A 3-4 GALLON "RESERVE". I AM NOT SURE IF IT'S THE TANK ITSELF, OR IF IT'S FAULTY HARDWARE CAUSING VAPOR TO BE TRAPPED AND THE SYSTEM THINKING IT'S FULL WHEN IT IS IN FACT NOT. I'VE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY GAS TANK SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR SINCE OCT 2012. WHEN I FILL UP, THE CAR SOMETIMES FILLS ALL THE WAY ON THE GAUGE, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. IF IT DOES IT DROPS FROM FULL TO HALF A QUARTER BY 10-20 MILES. ALSO, IVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FILL UP TO AROUND 16 GALLONS. THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 16.5 GALLON FUEL TANK. I RUN THE CAR TO APPROX 12 MILES LEFT, TILL THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN ONLY GET ROUGHLY 12 GALLONS IN THE TANK. EITHER THE TANK THAT WAS INSTALLED IS WRONG OR THE COMPUTER GAUGE IS OFF. I'M ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 315 ON A "FULL" TANK. THAT IS NOT RIGHT FOR A CAR THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A 27-37MPG CAR. WHICH I ONLY GET ABOUT 24-26MPG SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR. I DO A MIX OF HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING, MOSTLY HIGHWAY AVERAGING 45MPH DRIVING. I'VE TOLD BRIEN FORD IN EVERETT OF THIS ISSUE BUT THEY WONT LOOK AT IT SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN RECOGNIZED BY FORD. THE FUSION HYBRID SE HAS A 13.5 GALLON TANK, I THINK THE TANKS GOT INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, AND ME ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS GOT THE HYBRID TANK INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 16.5 GALLON TANK. *TR
