I was on the highway and a car came in front of me, When I tried to stop the brake was hard and wouldn’t stop! It veered me into the wall and totaled my car. My brakes stiffed up and didn’t stop which cause me to crash.

I received a recall notice for my 2013 Ford Fusion. The Recall was 23S12- Multi Vehicle Front Brake Jounce Hose Leaks. I contacted Ford about the repairs for this recall and was told that the repairs would take 1.3 hours because the brake lines needed to be bled as part of the repair. When I contacted my local Ford dealership about getting the repairs, I was told I would have to leave my vehicle for at least 2 days if I wanted the repairs done. No loaner vehicle has been offered. I cannot be without my car for 2 days. How am I to get the repair work done?
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the check engine, ABS, air bags, PCM, and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. Safety Recall 23S12/NHTSA Recall 23V162 - Brake Fluid Leak Took my car in for recall fix. Was told they could not perform the fix for the following reasons: 1) First said it was because I had aftermarket winter tires and rims on it. Told them that once I change to my all-season tires and original rims in 2 weeks can I bring it back, they told me no. 2) Then said it was because the car has 133k miles on it, so said it was too old to work on, and up to dealer discretion (Stoneham Ford, Stoneham, MA) 3) Then said the car has rust underneath so can't work on it. It was just a myriad of excuses as to why they couldn't perform. They said to try another dealer.
I am receiving warning lights regarding my electronic parking brakes. I took my car to a Ford dealership in Ankeny for a recall on my front brake lines to be fixed and mentioned this to the maintenance dept. They couldn't do anything without putting my car on a scanner (or whatever they do) because, being a widow I did not have the $100 they charge. Thus I am still driving my car with the warning lights on. I hope it is safe for me to drive it.

I’ve received a letter in March regarding this safety recalls and I not been contacted by the manufacturer for any remedy. I have not had this vehicle for a full six months. Now the break fluids leaks, there’s an issue with a gasket, and I cannot longer drive vehicle due to the smell of something burning. The recall states it’s an increasing risk of a crash. I have to search for transportation to and from work because I refuse to cause harm to myself or others. Safety Risk IF THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKS, YOUR VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE AN INCREASE IN BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL TOGETHER WITH A REDUCTION IN THE RATE OF DECELERATION OVER TIME, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. Ford should provide another vehicle as a loaner until this issue has been resolved.

When hitting brakes my car pulls to the right , it happens occasionally not often
I went out to drive the car one morning and the brake pedal went to the floor. I had the car towed to my mechanic, and the brake lines had failed.
While driving, I stepped on the brake pedal to slow down as I turned into a parking lot. The pedal went to the floor and I had no brakes. I was able to pump the pedal and regain some pressure to park and come to a stop. I called my insurance company for roadside assistance and had the car towed to a nearby service station recommended by a friend. Once on the lift, the technician immediately found that the right front brake line had failed.
I was driving to work and preparing to enter the highway when I received a flashing "low brake fluid" warning light and alarm. Within the first 5 miles of highway driving (before I could reach the next exit) I continually lost brake pedal and brake pressure. By the time that I was safely able to exit the highway my brake pedal needed to be depressed all the way to the floor for me to stop. Obviously this put the safety of myself and others in grave risk. I was lucky to be able to exit the freeway when I did. I found out from the dealer that there was a "Customer Satisfaction Program 22N02" notice issued in September 2022 that addressed my issue, as well as offered a repair. The dealer, however, is unable to perform the work for at least a month. My car has been sitting in a parking lot pending some way for me to get a repair. With the severity and grave risk of bodily harm associated with this issue it NEEDS TO BE A RECALL and not a "customer satisfaction program." I could have died or killed a pedestrian.
I experienced a brake hose rupture on this 2013 Ford Fusion. This caused a gradual loss of braking power down to none, and fortunately the incident occurred at low speed without collision or injury. I understand that NHSTA has an open recall query on this possible issue: https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2022/08/nhtsa-opens-brake-hose-query-could-result-in-recall-of-1-7m-ford-vehicles/ Christian Brothers automotive in Sun Prairie, WI serviced the vehicle following the incident, and may have more details relevant to your inquiry in their records.

WHILE IN MOTION AND TRYING TO COME TO A STOP THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND BARELY STOPPED THE CAR. IT'S NOW STUCK THAT WAY. ABS LIGHTS ALWAYS ON AND BRAKES ARE SPONGY. ALSO FUEL PUMP WHINES LOUDLY WHILE CAR WAS DRIVING AND CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND NOW WON'T ACCELERATE GOING UPHILL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY OCCASIONS AND NOW IT STUCK HAVING NO POWER UPHILL OR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, SEVERAL YEARS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HAZZARD LIGHT WHILE HONKING THE HORN TO NOTIFY OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF AN ISSUE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND A HOSPITAL PARKING LOT UNTIL THE VEHICLE SLOWLY LOST MOTIVE POWER. THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE VACUUM PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, UPON THE CONTACT TAKING POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

TWICE IN THE LAST 2 WEEK MY EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS ENGAGED WILL I WAS DRIVNG DOWN THE HIGHWAY. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON TELL MY THERE WAS A FAULT WITH MY BRAKES . SO I PULL OFF THE HIGH AND PULLED THE LEVER UP THEN PUSH IT DOWN THEN PULLED IT UP . I DID THAT 3 TIMES TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT ON
PERIODICALLY WHEN APPLY BRAKE, NO ENGAGEMENT, AS IF I HIT A PATCH OF ICE, THEN THE BREAK ENGAGES.
I HAD JUST LEFT THE GYM AND WAS HEADING HOME. I HAD JUST RESUMED DRIVING AFTER AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY. WHEN I HIT MY BRAKES, IT FELT AS IF MY ABA WAS ENGAGING, BUT INSTEAD I HEARD A POP AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HIT MY BRAKE AGAIN TO STOP MY VEHICLE. THE ROAD WAS CLEAR OF ANY SAND OR GRAVEL, THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND IT WAS 27 DEGREASE. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 12-20, DUE TO THE FACT STATED ABOVE. I CONTINUED HOME BUT MY BRAKE PEDAL KEPT DROPPING TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKE AGAIN TO STOP. I DROVE HOME VERY SLOWLY WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WENT INSIDE. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RETURNED TO MY CAR. I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND AGAIN THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED THE BRAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THE PEDAL WOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I NOW HAVE NO BRAKES. NOT ONE SENSOR CAME ON TO WARN ME THAT I HAD A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES. NEEDLESS-TO-SAY, THIS WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE.
RANDOM FAILURE OF LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE FROM BODY LINE TO BRAKE CALIPER. VEHICLE HAD ONLY 66,214 MILES ON ODOMETER. HOSE FAILED WITH ZERO WARNING DURING NORMAL BRAKE USAGE WHILE DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE RESULTING IN ALMOST NO BRAKING POWER. ZERO SIGNS OF PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO HOSE. CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER INDICATED THAT ORIGINAL FACTORY P\N WAS OBSOLETED AND A NEW P\N WAS BEING ISSUED. DECIDED TO REPLACE ALL (4) BRAKE HOSES FOR FEAR OF ANOTHER FAILURE. I HAVE RETAINED THE FACTORY PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY CAR WHEN BRAKING. THE CAR ACCELERATES MOMENTARILY AFTER THE BRAKES ENGAGE AND I HAVE TAKEN MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DECELERATING AROUND A CURVE , DRIVING DOWNHILL, OR WHEN DECELERATING OVER A BUMP OR OTHER AREA OF RAISED PAVEMENT LIKE MY DRIVEWAY. THESE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS, AT SPEEDS UNDER 40 MPH. WHEN IT OCCURS IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS ACCELERATING. I WOULD ALSO DESCRIBE THE FEELING AS A SURGE, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS BRAKING, AND SHOULD BE SLOWING. I HAVE ALSO DESCRIBED THIS AS A FEELING THAT THE BRAKES SLIP OR STOP WORKING MOMENTARILY AND THEN RE-ENGAGE. THE EXPERIENCE IS FRIGHTENING, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR COULD SURGE FORWARD WHILE I AM BRAKING AND RESULT IN A COLLISION OR INJURIES. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 26,000 MILES AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE REGULARLY. THESE SURGES RECENTLY HAVE SEEMED LONGER IN DURATION MORE RECENTLY. I HAVE NOTED THIS CONCERN TO MY FORD DEALER AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES FOR PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SURGE OR SKIDDING SENSATION. THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION.
REAR BRAKES NEED REPLACEMENT AT ONLY 22,500 MILES. ALTHOUGH HAVING BEEN THE SUBJECT OF AN OWNER COMPLAINT DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE DEALER REFUSES TO TAKE ANY POSITIVE ACTION AND STATES THEY ARE A CONSUMABLE ITEM.
PREMATURE AND SUDDEN REAR BREAK FAILURE OF BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE: SINCE PURCHASE CAR SHOWED MODERATE VIBRATION UPON HEAVY BREAKING BUT APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY PRIOR TO TOTAL REAR BRAKE FAILURE. A SUDDEN SCREECHING NOISE SHOWED UP COMPING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH A NOTICEABLE LOSS OF BREAKING POWER. UPON IMMEDIATE VISUAL INSPECTION THE REAR BREAK PADS WERE COMPLETELY WORN WITH ONLY 18,983 MILES SINCE PURCHASED IN 2014. THE WORN PADS SHOWED TO CAUSE IMMEDIATE AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE BREAK DISCS. PREMATURE WEAR AND DAMAGE TO THE DISCS WERE NOT COVERED BY THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY AS THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED IT FOR 4 MONTHS OR ANY CURRENT RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 22,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
MY 2013 FORD FUSION HAS21,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FORD PEOPLE TELL ME IT NEEDS REAR BRAKES I HAVE A2009 SAME MODEL THAT I HAD BRAKES REPLACED AT 60,000 WHEN I ASK THE FORD PEOPLE WHY I GET NO ANSWER . I THINK THEY HAVE A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PADS .CAN YOU HELP ME.?
I HAVE HAD MY FORD FUSION FOR 6 MONTHS. OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKING. THE BRAKES FAIL FOR A SPLIT SECOND JUST BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP TO ADD TO THAT IT SOMETIMES DECIDES TO SURGE AND LURCHES FORWARD JUST BEFORE IT STOPS. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR, THE FIRST FEW TIMES I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE LAST TIME, THEY DECIDE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BOTTLE AND A MODULE. FOR A FEW DAYS THE CAR SEEMED TO BE DOING BETTER UNTIL TODAY WHEN PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. AS I WAS STOPPING TO PARK, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD INTO A PILE OF WOOD. IF THIS HAD BEEN AT AN INTERSECTION OR SOMEONE CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL! LET ALONE LET MY TEEN DRIVE BEHIND THE WHEEL. I AM OUT OF OPTIONS! I CANNOT REFINANCE ANOTHER CAR.
CAR LURCHES FORWARD WHEN BRAKING AS IF THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SHUTS OFF MOMENTARILY AND TURNS BACK ON. HAPPENS WHEN GOING OVER SOME BUMPS AND DURING TURNS. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS IN A TURN AROUND IN A SEPARATED HIGHWAY WITH A MEDIAN, WHERE YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN QUICKLY, MAKING A LEFT TURN AND BRAKING AT THE SAME TIME, SO LESS THAN MAYBE 30 MPH. IT IS FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENS, AND I'M AFRAID I WILL RUN INTO SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FEB 4, 2016. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY PUT MUCH TIME INTO FINDING IT AS THE MILEAGE IN AND OUT ARE THE SAME. THE DEALERSHIP DID A PCM UPDATE BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I READ A COMPLAINT FROM ANOTHER OWNER AND IT DESCRIBES THIS PROBLEM WHICH PROMPTED ME TO FILE MY OWN COMPLAINT. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY CAR WHEN BRAKING. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DECELERATING AROUND A CURVE (LEFT OR RIGHT), DRIVING DOWNHILL, OR WHEN DECELERATING OVER A BUMP OR OTHER AREA OF RAISED PAVEMENT. THESE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS, AT SPEEDS UNDER 40 MPH. WHEN IT OCCURS IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS SKIDDING, EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2013, AND HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FEWER THAN 20,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE REGULARLY. THESE SURGES RECENTLY HAVE SEEMED LONGER IN DURATION MORE RECENTLY. I HAVE NOTED THIS CONCERN TO MY FORD DEALER TWICE IN THE LAST 12-15 MONTHS, AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES FOR PROBLEMS. EACH TIME, THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SURGE OR SKIDDING SENSATION. MOST RECENTLY, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED THAT I WAS PROBABLY NOTICING THE GASOLINE ENGINE KICK BACK IN AFTER THE CAR WAS IN BATTERY/ELECTRIC DRIVE. THIS EXPLANATION DOES NOT SQUARE WITH MY EXPERIENCE. I CAN DETERMINE WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS FROM BATTERY TO ENGINE OPERATION, AND THAT IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THESE BRAKING EVENTS. I READ THE COMPLAINTS OF A FEW OTHER FUSION 2013 HYBRID OWNERS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, AND I WANTED TO ADD THAT THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION. I WILL AGAIN BE TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE, AND ASKING FOR FORD TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM.
WE OWN A 2013 FUSION HYBRID AND HAVE EXPERIENCED A VERY SCARY FEELING AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES FOR FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT COMES TO A STOP, AFTER APPLYING THE BREAK. FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME FROM PUTTING ON THE BREAKS TO THE VEHICLE STOPPING, IT FEELS LIKE WE HAVE LOST CONTROL OVER THE CAR. WE HAVE BEEN OBSERVING THIS AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK ON AN AVERAGE. LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER FOR A WEEK LAST YEAR, AND THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT OBSERVE THE SAME THING AFTER DRIVING FOR MILES. IT IS HARD TO KNOW IN WHAT SCENARIO THIS THING OCCURS, BUT IS DEFINITELY A SCARY EXPERIENCE.MY HUSBAND GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT A MONTH AGO WHERE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF HIM GOT INVOLVED. HE WAS AT A GOOD DISTANCE AND HE HIT BREAKS, BUT NEXT THING HE KNOWS IS THE AIR BAGS ARE BLOWN AND HIS FUSION HAD A GOOD AMOUNT OF DAMAGE IN THE FRONT. HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT MOMENT, BUT IT MAKES ME THINK AND HOPE THAT IT WAS NOT THE SAME SCENARIO WHERE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND HE LOST CONTROL OVER IT. IT IS UNFORTUNATE FOR ME TO SAY THIS, BUT I WORK FOR FORD THROUGH ONE OF THE VENDOR COMPANIES AND STILL CAN'T HELP WITH THIS SITUATION. WE DID WHAT WE COULD BY TALKING TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALER, BUT COULD NOT GET ANY ANSWERS. I AM HOPING THAT MORE PEOPLE WHO ARE FACING THIS ISSUE WILL WRITE HERE AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. IT IS A SAD EXPERIENCE, AND HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS SCARY THOUGHT AND HOPING NO ONE GETS HURT.
REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEED REPLACED AT ONLY 37,000 MILES.
THE BRAKES ON MY 2013 FORD FUSION TITANIUM HAD BEEN IMPROPERLY "PULSING" FOR SOME TIME. BROUGHT CAR TO MY MECHANIC TO CHECK BRAKES ~7/31/15. HE FOUND THAT REAR CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS WERE ESSENTIALLY TOTALLY WORN WHILE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE AND SHOWED MINIMAL WEAR. HAD TO HAVE REAR CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS COMPLETELY REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID THIS SORT OF BRAKE WEAR IS NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE WITH ~26,000 MILES ON IT. IN FACT, IN HIS EXPERIENCE THE FRONT BRAKES USUALLY GO BEFORE THE REAR BRAKES...UPDATED 11/02/15 *BF UPDATED 01/08/2016*JS *CN
CAR SURGES WHILE TURNING AS IF IT HIT A PATCH OF ICE, REGARDLESS OF SPEED, BUT ONLY WHEN REGENERATIVE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. HAPPENS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AND IS CONSISTENTLY REPRODUCED, MORE NOTICEABLE WITH HIGHER SPEEDS. REGENERATIVE BRAKING IS ALSO INCONSISTENT, AT TIMES IT WILL NOT PROPERLY SLOW THE CAR DOWN. AS MORE PRESSURE IS APPLIED, THE CAR IS NOT SLOWING AS EXPECTED, AND HAS GONE INTO INTERSECTIONS AS THE TRANSITION FROM REGEN BRAKING TO HYDRAULICS DOES NOT OCCUR QUICK ENOUGH, AND FEELS LIKE BRAKES ARE FADING. DEALER AND FORD HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAID NO TROUBLE CODES, NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AS IT IS NEVER KNOWN IF THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN USING THE REGENERATIVE BRAKES OR NOT UNTIL THEY ARE APPLIED. I DO NOT FEEL FORD IS TAKING THIS SERIOUS ENOUGH, AND REFUSES TO SPEND TIME TO DIAGNOSE. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING 55 MILES PER HOUR IN THE HYBRID MODE, WHEN I NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN VERY SUDDENLY FOR MUCH SLOWER TRAFFIC. APPLYING MY BRAKES FIRMLY, THEY LOCKED UP, CAUSING MY CAR TO SWERVE BETWEEN THREE LANES WHILE THE BACKEND FISH TAILED BACK AND FORTH. I COULD HEAR THE TIRES SKIDDING ON THE PAVEMENT AND MY STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. *TR
