AIR BAGS
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Ford C-Max vehicles manufactured January 19, 2012, to November 21, 2013; Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to August 24, 2013; Ford Escape vehicles manufactured October 5, 2011, to November 1, 2013; and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured April 25, 2012, to September 30, 2013. The coating on portions of the Restraint Control Module (RCM) may crack, and when exposed to humidity, circuits on the printed circuit board may short.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RCM, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. The recall began on May 26,2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S21.

Ford told you the airbags may not have deployed because the impact was on the passenger side rather than the driver's side. Your car was declared a total loss by insurance.

Single vehicle accident on 11/01/2024 wet rode came into curve hut brakes it sped up struck guardrail on rt side darted across road into a ditch ripped front bumper cover off the seatbelt didn’t catch or no air bags worked
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the passenger’s side seat belt sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V597000 (Air Bags, Seat Belts). The failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on several occasions when the vehicle was started and the seat belt was connected, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat belt sensor needed to be replaced due to failure in detecting that the seat belt had been inserted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Car is totaled, yes its been confirmed by TN highway patrol, wrecker service who had to get down embankment to get the vehicle, insurance. It was totaled not one air bag deployed. It was a rainy night driving i-24 towards clarksville, im in the left lane, as im going around corner towards exit 8 , a vehicle cut in front of me, to avoid a rear end collision i quickly turned my wheel to the left , as i did that 70mph the water on the road took my front vehicle up and i went down the embankment hitting trees , rocks, etc. the entire car damaged all sides. No air bags deployed. I walked away with not a pain or scratch after plummeting 15ft or so down that sloped embankment. This happened on December 10, 2021. Over a year later on December 20, 2022 someone went down that same embankment not even a mile from where i went down that slope i was mile marker 7.8. He went down that embankment a lil after exit 8 mile marker 8.4 and He died.

I GOT INTO A WRECK ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND MY AIR BAGS DIDNT DEPLOY I WASNT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT TILL I SEEN THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR FOR AIRBAGS AND I DECIDED I NEEDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE MY WRECK WAS PRETTY BAD AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER WENT OFF. I GOT RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A ICE PATCH AND SPUN OUT I TO THE MOUNTAIN HEAD ON AND THE BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED
MY AIRBAG SIGNAL IS ON AND I TOOK MY CAR TO SHEEHY FORD IN MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY AIRBAG IS MALFUNCTION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL FROM FORD. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW AN AIRBAG CAN MALFUNCTION WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS SAFETY MEASURE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY FORD SINCE THEY ALREADY HAVE A RECALL OF THE SAME BRAND THAT IS IN MY CAR.
I NOTICED THIS ISSUE A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES AND THOUGHT NOTHING MAJOR OF IT, BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON MY TRANSMISSION WOULD CONTINUE TO PROPEL THE VEHICLE FORWARD REGARDLESS OF THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL AND ALSO NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD OFTEN TIMES CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE AND FAIL TO ENGINE BRAKE AFTER MY FOOT HAD LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE LATTER OF WHICH I WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT AND WAS GOING TO HAVE A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT NEXT TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO GET SERVICED. HOWEVER, BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO DO THAT I WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT TOTALED THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING IN A RURAL AREA AND APPROACHED A SET OF TRAIN TRACKS. I WENT TO SLOW DOWN TO CROSS THE TRACKS VIA ENGINE BRAKING, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE I REACHED THE TRACKS, BUT THE DELAYED RESPONSE AND THE GRAVEL ON THE ROADWAY PROVED NO AVAIL AT SLOWING THE VEHICLE AND I HIT THE TRACKS GOING MUCH FASTER THAN I WOULD HAVE LIKED, AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. THE ROUGHNESS OF THE TRACKS CAUSED MY FRONT AXLE TO SNAP, YANKING ME TO THE RIGHT OFF THE ROADWAY, THROUGH SOMEONE'S YARD AND INTO SOME TIMBER. WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ALSO CONCERNING WAS THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT ALL DURING THE ACCIDENT.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. ASKED DEALER TO CHECK. THEY SAID IT LOOKED LIKE A WIRE HAD BEEN CUT. SO THEY SAID WOULDN'T FALL UNDER WARRANTY. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. IT SHOULD BE COVERED. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIPS FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE UNDER THEIR PLAN SINCE PURCHASED NEW. AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THESE WIRES ARE EVEN LOCATED. SO IS THIS FAULTY FROM DAY ONE OR DONE WHILE OTHER WORK REGULAR MAINTENANCE OR RECALL WORK DONE? WHY DO I NEED TO PAY FOR ALMOST $500 FOR REPAIR? SHOULD BE WARRANTY WORK.

HAD MY OIL CHANGE/TIRE ROTATION DONE ON 08/01/19 AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO GET NEW LUG NUTS AS THEY WERE SWOLLEN & MISSHAPEN. COST OF $200 TO CHANGE THEM. I THOUGHT THIS IS WI, WINTERS ARE HARSH SO OK. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT NEW ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE. ALSO HAVE NO WORKING AIRBAGS AS A SENSOR FOR THE SEATBELT IS NOT WORKING. TO FIX THAT WILL BE $300+ BUT I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THIS AS THERE IS A RECALL IN PLACE FOR THAT ALSO!! WE ARE LOYAL FORD CUSTOMERS AND TO FIND OUT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS IS INFURIATING. "TAKATA RECALL" BUT NOT SURE. STARTED MY CAR DROVE THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT LOW SPEED. WHEN PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY MY FRONT AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON. PULLED OFF THE ROAD TURNED OFF MY CAR. LOOKED AT OWNERS MANUAL. STARTED CAR, MOVED MY DRIVERS SEAT BACK AND DROVE HOME LEANING MY BODY TO THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. LIGHT STAYED ON ALL THE WAY. I CALLED MY REGULAR MECHANIC ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT TOUCH THE CAR DUE TO THE RECALL AND TO CALL THE DEALER. CALLED FORD WHEN I GOT TO MY HOME. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE SYSTEMS WERE DOWN AND NOT TO DRIVE CAR. IT WAS EXTREMELY UNNERVING TO GET HOME.
MY 74YR OLD MOM HIT A 1 FOOT TALL CONCRETE BARRIER (PICTURE ATTACHED) AT A COUNTY RURAL RECYCLING CENTER RESULTING IN ALL 4 AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. BARRIER ISN'T PAINTED, NO FENCE, NO RAILING OR POLE TO MARK IT. MINOR DAMAGE (PHOTO ATTACHED) TO THE AUTO, BOSCH RECORDER SHOWS <15 MPH (FILE TOO LARGE TO ATTACH). CAR IS IN A STORAGE UNIT IN IOWA FOR EVIDENCE. MOM'S PROGNOSIS WAS SUBDURAL HEMATOMA, ENCEPHALOPATHY AND UNCAL HERNIATION RESULTING IN HER DEATH (SEE ATTACHED). MEDICAL EXAMINER DETERMINED CAUSE OF DEATH WAS THE CAR ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION TO THE ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAGS, MY STEP-DAD (84 YEARS OLD) WAS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AND ALSO WAS HIT BY AIRBAGS. WHILE THE AIRBAGS SAVED HIM, HE WAS QUITE BRUISED/INJURED. EMERGENCY RESPONSE WAS NOT REQUESTED. WE (MY FAMILY) BELIEVE THAT CONSIDERING THE AGE OF OUR PARENTS AND THE FACT MY MOM WAS HIT IN THE SIDE OF THE FACE - MORE CAUTION (STATE LAW REQUIRING MEDICAL ATTENTION) SHOULD BE EXERTED BY ALL POLICE OFFICERS IN THIS SITUATION (POLICE REPORT ATTACHED). WE TAKE ALL KINDS OF PRECAUTIONS WITH KIDS ON THE SPORTS FIELDS, WHY NOT THE ELDERLY? MY MOM WAS OBVIOUSLY SUFFERING FROM CONFUSION AND CONCUSSION. TRAGICALLY, WE LOST HER TO A SAFETY FEATURE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TOOK FUSION IN FOR RECALL 16S42 CONCERNING SEATBELT PRETENTIONERS ON 08AUG17. NO AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH, WHEN WE WENT TO PICKUP THE CAR THE LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP HAD NOT SEEN THE LIGHT AND REFUSED TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM BEFORE MY WIFE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. I BELIEVE THAT DURANGO MOTOR COMPANY, DURANGO COLORADO SHOULD HAVE TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY OF CHECKING THE SYSTEM.
ISUZU TROOPER TOLD ME THAT AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS BECAUSE STUDIES SHOWED THERE ISN'T A HIGHER SURVIVAL RATE WHEN THEY DO DEPLOY IN ROLLOVERS. I HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR REPAIR DUE TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED AND THEN WOULD COME BACK ON WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. HIT DEER GOING 45 MILES AN HOUR WHEN HE RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME. VEHICLE CHECK WAS DEPLOYED. SAID AIRBAG ACTIVATED. NEITHER THE AIRBAG WENT OFF NOR DID THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT TIGHTENED. OBTAINED 7000.00 IN FRONT END DAMAGE INCLUDING RADIATOR, HOOD FENDERS AND PUSHED IN DRIVER DOOR. POLICE OFFICER CHECKED THE AIRBAG FOR ME AND STATED THAT I NEEDED TO LET THEM KNOW IT SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND DID NOT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED AND CALLED PECK FORD. AFTER 3 WEEKS IN THE AUTO REPAIR STATED THEY RAN A CHECK AND IT SEEMED THE AIRBAG WAS FINE. THEY HAD TO DO A REALIGNMENT AND THE RADIATOR HOSE AND BOLTS SNAPPED OFF PLUS THE BODY WORK. FORD STATED IT WAS IN A RECALL BUT THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR A YEAR. I TOLD THEM I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ACCIDENT AND THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY NOR THE RESTRAINTS. PECK FORD ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO UNLESS THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED ON WHEN CAR WAS OPERATING. PREVIOUSLY, IN SUMMER OF 2014, I WROTE THE WARRANTY CENTER BECAUSE MY HEADLINER HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WRINKLING AND FALLING IN FRONT. THEY REPLACED THE HEADLINER BUT IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN SO I WROTE THEM IN SUMMER OF 2014. THEY STATED THE ONLY RECALL THEY HAD WAS FOR THE AIRBAG AND THAT I SHOULD STOP DRIVING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AND CALL FORD. WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES PER HOUR WHEN DEER HIT CAR IN FRONT . THE IMPACT TOOK OUT FRONT BUMPER BUMPER GUARD HOOD LEFT FENDER AND LEFT DOOR. THE RADIATOR BOLTS CRACKED AND DROPPED THE RADIATOR. I WAS THROWN FORWARD BUT NEITHER SEAT BELT TIGHTENED OR AIR BAG WENT OFF. THE SYSTEM RADIO WENT INTO SYSTEM CHECK AND CONTINUALLY CHECKED , STATING AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT IT DID NOT DEPLOY. ONE SIDE OF THE SEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT RISE WHEN TRYING TO BRING SEAT UP AND SO SEAT SAGS TO LEFT OFFICER THAT I CALLED TO THE SCENE STATED THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THE AIRBAG STARTED TO DEPLOY BUT WHEN I GOT THE CAR FIXED THEY SAID THEY FOUND THE AIRBAG STILL IN TACK. BOTH PARTIES POLICE AND MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WERE SURPRISED AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF. I CALLED FORD ABOUT THE RECALL AND THEY SAID CANNOT REPAIR UNLESS AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON . AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON ALMOST EVERY TIME CAR WAS USED. IN SEPT 2014, CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR TWO WEEKS. AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT THAN BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE AGAIN FREQUENTLY. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK IN AGAIN AND TECH'S WORKED FOR TWO DAYS ON VEHICLE AND HAD ISSUES FINDING A ROOT CAUSE. CAR WAS NOT FIXED BUT WE WERE TOLD TO BRING BACK IN AGAIN. ON 10/3/2014, I RAN A VIN RECALL LOOKUP, AND NO RECALLS WERE ISSUED FOR MY CAR ALTHOUGH ISSUE SEEMS TO ALIGN WITH A RECALL ISSUED BY FORD ON SEPT 24-25/2014. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FORD, SAID THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT WORK IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. FORD'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE SAFETY MODULE BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY'VE ORDERED A SECOND PART, BUT IT'S BEEN ON BACK ORDER SINCE ABOUT AUGUST 20TH. IT'S NOW SEPTEMBER 6TH AND THE PART HASN'T BEEN SHIPPED. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS BECAUSE I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT WITH FAULTY AIRBAGS. *TR
MY 2013 FUSION WITH APPROXIMATELY 12,000 MILES WAS ALREADY SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR TO REPLACE BOTH REAR SHOCKS BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING. BEFORE IT WENT IN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID "NO PROBLEM WE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT". WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE LIGHT TO GO OUT AND THAT THEY TRIED DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE TO THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) AND NEEDED TO ORDER ONE. THEN THEY WENT ON TO SAY THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER AND SHOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW DAYS. THEN I GET HOME TO HEAR THE MESSAGE THEY LEFT SAYING THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE MODULE. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL TAKE WEEKS TO GET THIS PART AND THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FROM WHAT THEY TOLD ME, THE MAGNITUDE OF THE BACK ORDER AND WHAT I HAVE READ IT SEEMS THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. HOW MANY FUSION DRIVERS ARE DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT AIRBAGS? I WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, IN WHICH I WAS FIRST HIT BY ANOTHER CAR AND THEN COLLIDED WITH A LAMP POST. THE INITIAL BLOW RENDERED MY VEHICLE WITHOUT BRAKE POWER AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS WEARING A SEATBELT. MY CAR HEADED TOWARD THE STREET LAMP. I TRIED TO PRESS MY BRAKE, BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO AVOID A HEAD-ON WITH THE LIGHT POST. UNFORTUNATELY, I HIT THE POST AND IT BROKE (LATER A POLICEMAN PUSHED IT OVER AND IT FELL TO THE GROUND). THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED AT ABOUT 200 FEET AWAY FROM THE SITE OF THE ACCIDENT, AS I DROVE IT ONTO THE MEDIAN STRIP. MY CAR WAS DAMAGED ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT LOWER AREA AND THE RIGHT TIRE WAS PUSHED WAY BACK. THE SWAY BAR AND KNUCKLE BROKE, AMONG OTHER THINGS. THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR WAS UNABLE TO OPEN. AFTER ALL THESE REPAIRS WERE DONE, THEY COULDN'T START THE CAR BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN TOTAL, THESE REPAIRS TOOK MORE THAN TWO MONTHS TO COMPLETE. I SPOKE TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO SEE IF THEY WANTED TO INVESTIGATE THIS PARTICULAR CAR, AS IT OPERATED POORLY DURING THE ACCIDENT. THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED, AND SAID TO ALLOW GEICO TO HANDLE THINGS AND HAVE GEICO CALL THEM IF THEY FOUND ANYTHING AMISS. MY BACK WAS INJURED AND I CANNOT SAFELY LIFT MORE THAN 5 LBS AT A TIME. MY NEUROSURGEON ADVISED THAT I HAVE SURGERY SOON, OTHERWISE I RISK BECOMING PARALYZED FROM THE WAIST DOWN. I HAVE A THUMB INJURY AND THE ACCIDENT ALSO RE-ACTIVATED AN OLD CONCUSSION. MY NOSE MUST HAVE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL, AS IT WAS SORE FOR A WEEK. I CAN WALK AROUND AND FUNCTION RIGHT NOW, I JUST CAN'T LIFT ANYTHING. MY CAR IS READY IN THE SHOP, BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, AND I HAVE FIVE YEARS OF PAYMENTS LEFT ON IT. THE DEALER REPORTED THAT RCM MODULE MUST BE REPLACED, HOWEVER PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK-ORDER AND NOT AVAILABLE ( 300 CASES). I HAD TO SIGN THAT I WAS INFORMED THAT IN A CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK . THE DEALER INFORMED MY HOME DEALER KERRY FORD IN CINCINNATI OH AND SENT A FAX WITH INFORMATION TO ORDER A PART. TOLD TO DRIVE CAR AND THAT NONE OF MY AIRBAGS WILL WORK IN A CRASH. I WAS UPSET TO DRIVE CAR,THEN WAS TOLD AIRBAGS NOT A FIRST LINE SAFETY ITEM AND SEAT BELT WAS SATISFACTORY. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT (INDICATING OFF) CONSTANTLY IS ON WHEN MY WIFE 125 LBS IS RIDING IN THE SEAT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSORS BECAUSE IF THE LIGHT IS OFF ANY MOVEMENT BY HER WILL CAUSE THE LIGHT TO GO ON. HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY SERVICE CODES INDICATING A PROBLEM. OUR SUGGESTION TO THEM WAS TO FORGO THE CODES AND PUT A PERSON IN THE SEAT AND TAKE A RIDE.
