Your 2005 Nissan Altima hesitates or jerks when starting and while running, with the check engine light on. A mechanic diagnosed a failed camshaft or crankshaft position sensor, but even after replacing it before, the problem came back and now your car won't start at all. This happened around 160,000 miles, and Nissan says your vehicle wasn't included in a related recall even though the issue matches it.

Your engine stalls when you press the accelerator pedal while stopped, and the engine hesitates when driving at highway speeds. These problems happen without warning. This issue may be related to a known Nissan recall (Campaign 07V527000) affecting the engine and cooling system. The repair will likely involve inspection and replacement of engine components related to fuel delivery or idle control.

Your temperature gauge started climbing while driving at highway speed, and your engine began shaking with abnormal dashboard sounds. After multiple repair attempts—including radiator replacement, ignition coil and spark plug replacement, and catalyst sensor diagnosis—the temperature gauge continues to fluctuate unpredictably. The underlying cooling system issue may require further diagnostic testing and potentially replacement of the oxygen/catalyst sensor or other engine cooling components.

Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your car is shutting off unexpectedly while you're driving. This is a safety concern that needs immediate diagnosis, as it could be caused by issues with the fuel system, ignition system, or engine controls. A mechanic will need to scan for error codes and test components like the fuel pump, alternator, and ignition switch to find the root cause.

Your car experienced a sudden jerk while driving on the interstate without any warning signs like noise, smoke, or dashboard lights. A few hours later, you lost reverse gear and noticed the transmission fluid level was low with no visible leaks. The next day, you also lost forward gears. This could indicate a transmission problem that may require a transmission fluid check, filter replacement, or internal transmission repair.

Your engine randomly stalls while driving, especially at low speeds in city traffic. The check engine light indicated a crankshaft sensor problem, but the light turned off while the stalling continues. You contacted Nissan about a known recall for this exact issue, but they said your vehicle's VIN doesn't qualify and won't cover it under warranty, claiming it's normal wear and tear despite the car only having 110,000 miles.

Your airbags failed to deploy during a T-bone collision at highway speeds, leaving you severely injured and requiring emergency hospital care. The airbags should have inflated to protect you during the crash, but they did not function as designed. This is a critical safety failure that needs immediate investigation by a Nissan dealer to determine why the airbag system did not activate.

Air Bags,unknown Or Other,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your airbags failed to deploy during a 2006 accident, which is a serious safety concern. You're also experiencing broken door handles that keep breaking off when you try to open the doors. The airbag issue may require inspection of the airbag system and sensors, while the door handles will likely need replacement.

Power Train,electrical System,vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
While driving, your battery and brake warning lights came on, and your gas pedal stopped responding—forcing you to shift to neutral and rev the engine to keep going. This happened repeatedly even after replacing the alternator and battery multiple times; each new alternator failed and only put out 3.5 volts instead of the normal output. The root cause remains undiagnosed despite multiple repair attempts, and you've encountered difficulty getting mechanics to identify the underlying electrical problem.

Steering,vehicle Speed Control,engine →1 issue
Your engine shuts off unexpectedly without warning, which causes you to lose power steering, acceleration, and brake assist (requiring you to pump the brakes harder). This happens most often when you try to restart the car while it's still warm. You've had to replace over 10 sensors across 8 years of ownership through both dealerships and auto shops under warranty, but the problem keeps returning. The fix will likely involve diagnosing which sensor is failing repeatedly and either replacing it again or addressing the underlying electrical or fuel system issue causing the sensor to malfunction.

Service Brakes →1 issue
When you press the brake pedal to stop, your car briefly accelerates instead of slowing down. You have to lift your foot off the brake and press it again for the car to stop, and sometimes this process repeats multiple times before the brakes work properly. This could involve inspection of the brake system components, including the brake pedal assembly, brake lines, or engine throttle response.

Power Train,engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your engine is experiencing misfires and check engine lights appear, particularly when your phone is connected to the car. Your car randomly accelerates unexpectedly while driving, which has caused you to swerve on the highway and be involved in accidents. Water/oxygen sensor warnings also appear on your dashboard. The issue seems related to fuel system timing and may be triggered by phone interference.

Steering, engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
While accelerating to about 45 MPH, your car made grinding and whining sounds and the check engine light came on. The dealer first replaced your power steering pump, but the problem returned and your car stalled at various speeds, including while stopped at a red light. A mechanic later diagnosed a failed crankshaft position sensor as the real cause. Replacing the crankshaft position sensor should resolve the stalling and abnormal sounds.

Exterior Lighting,engine →1 issue
Your car may have been equipped with aftermarket TYC halogen headlights (part number 20-6644-00) that have misaligned lighting, which doesn't meet federal safety standards. This means your headlights may not properly illuminate the road or aim correctly. The headlight assemblies should be inspected and replaced if necessary to ensure proper lighting performance and safety.

Fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your fuel gauge stopped working properly — it no longer drops all the way to empty (E), and the low fuel warning light stopped coming on. While driving onto an interstate, your engine suddenly shut off completely at highway speed with no warning or sputtering, even though the gauge showed about 3/8 of a tank. After coasting to the shoulder, the engine wouldn't restart until you added fuel. Testing shows the fuel pump, sending unit, and fuel level float all work correctly, so the problem appears to be with the gauge display or its wiring connection. The fix will likely involve replacing the fuel gauge cluster or repairing the fuel level sensor circuit.
