Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2025 Altima, Sentra, 2025-2026 Frontier, and 2026 Kicks vehicles. The door strikers may have been improperly welded and break, allowing the door to open while moving. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

Risk: A door that opens unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion increases the risk of injury or a crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the door strikers, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD185 and PMA61. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 28, 2026.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your car experienced a severe combination of problems: the fuel gauge dropped 37 miles while you only drove 6 miles, suggesting either a major fuel leak or a faulty fuel gauge. Your odometer was jumping around erratically and reversing while the car was parked, and the engine made excessive noise. You also received the vehicle with critically low tire pressure (26 PSI) that continued dropping while parked, indicating a slow leak. These issues created safety concerns and caused you physical distress. Resolving this will likely require a full diagnostic scan of the fuel system and engine electronics, tire pressure sensor inspection, and verification of all gauges and sensors.

CrashFiled: Feb 2025

Your vehicle was hit from behind by a tractor trailer on a snowy interstate, causing it to spin out of control. The impact was severe on the driver's side rear where your son was sitting, and his seat was pushed up and detached from the vehicle. However, the side airbags did not deploy despite the crash severity, and your family sustained injuries requiring hospital care. This issue may require Nissan to investigate the airbag sensor and deployment system to determine why the safety systems failed to activate during the collision.

Your rear view camera display isn't clear, and the brightness is too high at night, making it hard to see what's behind you when backing up. Your Nissan dealer confirmed the issue affects multiple Altimas and suggested waiting for a software update from Nissan to fix it, but no update has arrived after nine months. The dealer said they can't resolve it on their end. A software update or camera recalibration may be needed to restore proper image clarity and brightness control.

Back Over Prevention1 issue

Filed: Mar 2025

Your backup camera is showing blurry and distorted images, making it hard to tell people from objects when backing up. Two dealers confirmed the problem exists but haven't been able to fix it yet. The manufacturer is aware and investigating the issue. You may need a camera replacement or software update to restore clear backup visibility.

Filed: Aug 2025

Your windshield developed a crack down the center while your car was parked in the driveway for an hour, with no visible cause like a rock hit or impact damage. The crack started at the bottom and extended upward, and security footage showed no incident occurring during that time. The windshield will likely need to be replaced by a glass specialist.
