SEAT BELTS:FRONT
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured November 2, 2012, to July 31, 2014, and 2013-2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 14, 2012, to July 31, 2014. In the event of a crash, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pretensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cable, free of charge. The recall began May 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S42.

Your rear seat belt buckles (the plastic clasps on both sides) have broken and no longer work, preventing children from safely using the rear seats. You've found that replacement parts aren't currently available through normal channels. This issue appears to be affecting other 2014 Ford Fusions based on online reports. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while wearing the driver's side seat belt, the seat belt failed to retract and was locked. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred after the vehicle had been parked outside in extreme heat, but the seat belt operated as needed in the morning after the vehicle had been parked in the garage overnight. The contact was unable to secure herself inside the vehicle using the seat belt. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V875000 (Seat belts); however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

The seat belts are fraying at the stitching and the female end sometimes doesn’t want to let you put seat belts in or after there in they pop out for no reason

One of the rear seat belts will lock and not release. After you unlatch it, it doesn’t retract properly. I feel this is unsafe and should be fixed by the manufacturer.
I purchased the vehicle used from a local Mercedes dealership (April 2018) with multiple open recalls. One of the recalls was 16S42. On May 2, 2018, the vehicle was brought to a local Ford dealer where they "corrected" the open recalls. In February 2020, my wife was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the interstate. There was a construction zone that brought traffic to a stop and she was rear-ended by an SUV at speeds between 45-60 MPH totaling the vehicle while it was at a stop. She was the only occupant and was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the cash. The airbags did not deploy and the driver seatbelt did not lock causing her head to strike the steering wheel. She didn't remember if she lost consciousness or not, however, she was later diagnosed with a concussion. The vehicle has since been totaled and was taken into possession by the insurance company. I am unaware of any inspection of the seatbelt that was performed after the crash. I do possess photographs of the vehicle. There were no warning lights active prior to the crash.
The right front passenger seat belt locks when vehicle is not running or in parked preventing use. Cannot secure passenger before driving. Often happens in warmer weather.

THIS ISSUE STARTED AFTER FORD ADDRESSED THE PRETENSIONER RECALL. FORD DEALER IN HAGERSTOWN MD REFUSED TO FIX PROBLEM WITHOUT A $570 PAYMENT . SEATBELTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE COVERED FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE!

IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS NOW. I FEEL UNSAFE TRAVELING IN THE CAR AND HAVING PASSENGERS RIDE IN MY CAR. ALL THE FORD DEALERSHIPS AROUND ME (ZIP 95008) SAY THEY CANNOT DO THE RECALL UNTIL JANUARY 2018. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED MUCH MORE QUICKLY. FORD SHOULD PROVIDE MORE PARTS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND ALLOW DEALERSHIPS TO DO THE REPAIRS. MY CAR HAS HAD AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE SEATBELTS SINCE 03 NOV 2016, AND THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL OTHER RECALLS, INCLUDING ONE A COUPLE DAYS AGO FOR FAULTY DOOR LATCHES, AND THE OVERALL POOR QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE REAR, MIDDLE SEAT BELT LOCKED WHILE THE SEAT WAS DOWN, TENSIONING THE BELT BEYOND THE POINT WHERE THE SEAT CAN BE USED. THE BELT CANNOT BE LOOSENED ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE SEAT BACK TO BE LIFTED INTO THE UPRIGHT POSITION AND OBVIOUSLY CANNOT BE USED TO RESTRAIN A PASSENGER. TENSION HAD TO BE RELEASED FROM THE BOTTOM SECURING BRACKET IN ORDER TO LIFT THE SEAT BACK SO THAT A PASSENGER CAN SIT IN THE WINDOW SEAT. AT THAT POINT THE SEAT BELT WAS LOCKED WITH THE SEAT UP AND THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT CANNOT BE RELEASED TO BE USED.

I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL IN NOVEMBER 2016 INVOLVING MY SEATBELTS BEING UNABLE TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN ME DURING AN ACCIDENT. IT IS STILL NOTATED THAT FORD HASN'T FOUND A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM. THE SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM WILL NOT ACTIVATE ONCE THE CAR GOES ABOVE 6 MPH. I HAVE HANDICAPPED SON WHO ACCIDENTALLY UNPLUGGED HIS SEAT BELT AND I HAD NOT INDICATION. NO CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED FUNCTIONS LIKE THIS REGARDING SEAT BELT WARNING.
I HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE MY BACKSEAT SEAT BELTS 3 TIMES, TWICE ON THE PASSENGER BACKSEAT AND ONCE ON THE DRIVER BACKSEAT. MIND YOU THESE ARE SEAT BELTS THAT DO NOT GET LATCHED AND UNLATCHED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY LIKE THE DRIVER SEAT, BUT THESE SEAT BELTS STAY LATCHED WITH A CAR SEAT SO THEY SHOULD NOT BE GETTING WORE OUT SO QUICK. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL RETRACT AND LOCK FOR NO REASON UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING CONSISTS OF REMOVING THE SEAT BELT LETTING IT RETRACT ALL THE WAY UP THEN TRY TO BUCKLE IT BACK IN PLACE. THE LAST TIME ABOUT A WEEK AGO THE REMEDY DID NOT WORK, AND THE SEAT BELT REMAINED LOCK IN THE RETRACTED POSITION AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THIS FORCED MY WIFE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT A SEAT BELT.
THERE IS A PLASTIC SHIELD RIGHT INSIDE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE BOTH OF THESE ON BACK SEATS HAVE COME LOOSE (I USE BOOSTER SEATS) IT REQUIRES A LONG NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO GET THIS PART OUT OF THE INSIDE OF THE BUCKLE IN ORDER FOR THE SEATBELT TO WORK AGAIN... WHEN YOU ARE AND ABOUT THAT MEANS YOU HAVE NO USE OF THE SEATBELT UNTIL YOU CAN GET HOME TO REMOVE THIS PIECE. IE KID NOT RESTRAINED DATE BELOW IS 2ND / TIME BUCKLE
INSIDE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BROKE. A PIECE OF PLASTIC AND SPRING CAME OUT, IT WAS LIKE IT CAUGHT ON SOMETHING AND JUST FELL OUT. IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PULLING THE HARNESS OUT OF THE LATCH. VERY LITTLE PRESSURE WAS ON IT WHEN IT BROKE. IT APPEARS TO BE A HORRIBLY BAD DESIGN.
I JUST LEASED A 2014 FORD FUSION TITANIUM AND AFTER DRIVING A FEW DAYS, I REALIZED THAT THE SEAT BELT IS ALWAYS RUNNING ON MY NECK (DRIVER'S NECK) - NO MATTER WHAT ADJUSTMENT IS SET FOR THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND / OR FOR THE SEAT BELT FIXTURE, THE BELT IS ALWAYS RUNNING OVER MY NECK AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH THIS DRIVING CONDITION.
