ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 Escape, 2014-2015 Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Fusion and 2013-2015 Transit Connect vehicles equipped with 1.6L GTDI engines. If the vehicle is started and driven with an insufficient level of coolant within the engine cooling system, the engine cylinder head may overheat, crack and leak oil.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install a coolant level sensor and the supporting hardware and software, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed April 21, 2017. The recall began on January 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S09.
Owner Complaints (156)
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his son was driving approximately 70 MPH, the check engine warning illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle went into LIMP Mode, and his son was able to coast to the side of the highway. The contact drove out to his son's location and was able to clear the codes using a handheld scanner and the vehicle was able to be driven back to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, and the vehicle was showing other symptoms. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling rough after a cold start and occasionally was blowing white smoke from the exhaust pipe. The contact stated that 2 years prior the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms, and the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine block, and the engine was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was under warranty at the time of the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and confirmed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine, and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 86,825.
Coolant is leaking into the head gasket of the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid similar to the other 2014 Ford Fusion cars (they have a recall on them for this issue). Upon calling the nearest Ford dealership, I was told that the recall did not apply to my vehicle, even though the same recall has been made for other 2014 Ford Fusions (just not the hybrid specifically). The safety of the driver and passengers in the car is at risk due to the coolant fluid mixing into the engine oil, eventually causing a blown head gasket and potentially engine failure. This problem was identified within minutes of getting a routine oil change, as coolant was found in the cap of the head gasket. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning signs. The car notified me when I needed to change my oil, but otherwise, no dash lights came on and no notifications were sent to the dash.
On cold startup, a significant amount of white exhaust is sometimes observed coming out of the tailpipes. The exhaust has a sweet aroma and after checking the coolant levels, it appears that the coolant levels have dropped and the exhaust smoke is being caused by a coolant intrusion into the engine block. No warning lights have been observed and it only happens about half of the time.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle idled and then stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle. The contact filled the coolant reservoir and noticed that the coolant was leaking out. There was coolant intrusion into the cylinder, causing engine failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and confirmed that there was coolant intrusion into the block head. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 23-2223. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 154,135.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the vehicle was shaking with a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. A code was displayed on the instrument panel; however, the contact was unsure what the code referenced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not safe to drive. The contact stated that an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that there was a coolant leak, causing the coolant and oil to mix that caused engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); which was related to the failure experienced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.
I was having issues with this vehicle sputtering a bit and the antifreeze was seeming to be disappearing. There were no visible leaks. I took it to the shop to have it looked at. The engine light was on and there was a code for a cylinder 3 misfire. Th mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and, upon removing the spark plugs, noticed they were fouled with what he said was antifreeze in the cylinder (because of the white substance on the electrode end). I saw where there is a recall for the particular engine block that is in this vehicle from 2014 to 2020. When I notified Ford and the NHTSA I was told that my VIN number was not included in the recall. I am confused because I would think that the recall would be for vehicles with this particular block not specific VIN numbers. Please help! I just got this car hoping for a reliable vehicle. I am a grad student and I do not have the funds for such a big repair.

Experiencing repeated coolant leaks. Heating/coolant was repaired last winter. Failed again this winter. Car keeps needing additional coolant added. Will be taking it in on Monday to find out which parts failed this time.
I bought the 2014 Fusion in 2019 used. It had roughly 60 some thousand miles. I had to replace the motor at 94 thousand miles. Now at 131 thousand miles, I am faced with the same issue and need to replace the motor again after only 37 thousand miles. From what the dealer said (Copper Country Ford in Houghton Michigan) both issues have been coolant leaking into the cylinders and killing the motor. The first motor was around $4500.00 and now it is roughly the same $4500.00. So $9000.00 in 4 years!!!!! I called Fo Mo Co and they will do nothing to help. They say there is no recall and or order from NHTSA about this issue. Nor do they have any other programs to help resolve this issue or help pay for the repair. First Motor Replaced August 2020 at 94,000 Second Motor Died December 2024 at 131,000
Car stalls then dies out well starting but engine is still on.

This is a attachment to my last Inquiry.
On [XXX] ford premier out of waveland evaluated my car after I had to have it towed in due to overheating. The high temperature warning notification was lock and wouldn't change to normal after it cooled. I was not fully aware of my car overheating due to no warning other the the temperature overheat warning. A couple of days prior without driving it for 10hrs I noticed a moist to the exhaust pipe. When it broke down the engine had a misfire, a shake, and had not power to the engine to accelerate. There was 3 different puddles of fluids underneath the car. When I had spoke to the service department on this breakdown I made them aware of everything with one of the Mechanics witnessing the shake within the engine. There was a confusion on my part due to the sticker showing a 1.5l and my Insurance showing through carfax a 2.5l with also Descripting a 1.5l that showed for my car to be compatible to a 2.0l, 1.6l Installation of coolant system, that of which lead me to request recalls through Vin# on [XXX] through Verified and it was shown to be compatible for recall. Premier Ford service department Assured me that nothing was wrong with the coolant system that the power train control module reprogramming took care of the breakdown. He assured me when I picked up my car That nothing was wrong with my car. Except for me needing to go, change the brakes so that he could change the brake hoses that are part of the recall associated with the brakes. This was on [XXX]. On [XXX] I broke down again with the same issue with this time before the breakdown there was a stall when I started my car And when they had my car on [XXX] I asked them the check the Fuel Injections and he stated there was nothing wrong with the fuel injections. My car has shown every sign that shows through the coolant system of a fire hazard. I am requesting that the Department to assign the safety recall 17s09 to my vin# [XXX] . In January 2024, while driving the Ford Fusion, I lost power (when I pressed the gas, it would accelerate). I pulled over the best I could (on a 2 lane road, no shoulder, at night). I found that my vehicle had no coolant; it had an oil change within the last 2 months and all fluids were topped off. It was towed to my mechanic and I had to call family for a ride. It was found that the coolant had leaked and burned out, thereby overheating, warping the block/head (placing it in limp mode). It was not holding compression or fluid. For a new engine and installation, I paid $6,800.67. Tonight ([XXX]) my "check manual" wrench light came on and I pulled over to find the coolant was near empty. I was an hour away from home, at night, with my younger brother in the car, in Reno, NV. It was scary waiting for my family to drive an hour to come get me. I paid $97 to have it towed (insurance paid $500). It is now awaiting a second inspection. I just bought this car in 2023 from CarMax with only 55k miles. Now I cannot get to work or college if someone will not borrow me a car and will be forced to walk (not to work, it's 30 miles away). Car was purchased with less than 100,000k miles and within 2 weeks the the car was put into the shop for loss of power while driving and overheating. Had supposedly needed repair and within a week the car overheated again. Paid over 2,000 in repairs and tows due to issue. Car is towed to Ford was told coolant was in the entire and would need to be replaced over $7000. No way Ford should be able to sell calls with known issues and the consumer be responsible for outrageous repair fees. Ford customer service at corporate nor did the dealership offer any type of assistance with the exception of pay for it or start over for scratch which is impossible with today’s inflation. Ford knowingly sold a faulty product and they should be held accountable.
Vehicle started indicating issues turning over to crank. I purchased a new key and key fob for the vehicle and got it programmed successfully I also replaced the starter with a brand new starter, issue still present in which vehicle is not turning on when I turn vehicle on to crank.

Hello, on Saturday May 27th, I took my car in for a regular oil change and thereafter, the rattling noise started the next day, continued rattle had me bring the vehicle back to the dealership on Monday, June 5th. I was informed that my fusion rattling sound was due to the engine flexplate being cracked causing damaging to the transmission oil pump and torque converter. Used chassis ears to pinpoint noise within the transmission bellhousing. Engine flexplat cracked causing out ot round rotation and damage to the transmission. Required transmission and engine flexpalate replacement with alignment due to subframe removal. I looked up online for recalls and found a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12 for 2019-2020 Fusion - Rattle Noise at the Transmission Bellhousing Area - Flexplate Cracks (dated 08-26-22). Here is the link to the online document found: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10218899-0001.pdf. I purchased this vehicle used in 2021. If this issue affects other Ford years, why is it not included in the recall for older Ford Fusion models especially if the issue is the same as that of the 2019-2022 models? Thank you

Codes P0300 P0301 P0316 - My son was driving and approached a red light - his car began to idle rough and check engine light came on. Instructed him to park the car and we towed to a local mechanic. Cylinder 1 was misfiring and also had a mix of oil, fuel and possibly coolant in Cylinder 1. Apparently this is a defective issue with a 2014 Ford Fusion with a 2.0 Ecoboost Engine and also lawsuits regarding this. Ford dealership confirmed this is a sore issue with Ford and referred to Ford Customer Service --- no assistance and just advised to hold onto receipts in case it is a recall issue -- this is not okay at all. Ford has had plenty of opportunities to correct this with Ford Fusions but still have not!!!!! Very very very upset!!!
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 5-10 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. A message indicating that the vehicle was overheating was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was then towed to a used car dealer, where the thermostat was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,126.
Engine coolant over temperature light came on as I was pulling in my driveway. Checked the coolant, it was very low. There’s been no visible leaks on the driveway. Added coolant, turned the vehicle on but the car barely turned over. It’s not drivable. Will need to be towed to the dealer. By all the research I have done, this is a huge issue on this year, make and model with the eco boost engine. This needs to be on the recall program.
My Fusion stalled when exiting a parking lot in a busy downtown area when my 17-year-old son was driving. It restarted and he was able to drive home. After the initial incident, for several days the car sputtered repeatedly. Upon inspection, the Ford dealership indicated the car has coolant leaking into a cylinder causing the performance issues. The Ford dealer service agent indicated I needed a new engine because of the situation. This is just not right. This issue should have been addressed by Ford the right way (when they knew of the design flaw), rather than pushing the problem to its customers, putting their lives and safety at risk.
The contact's granddaughter owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his granddaughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The failure mileage was 102,000.
Vehicle overheating issues, coolant leak, not able to drive the car
Awhile back before the part was recalled the shifter cable gasket slipped and the transmission was stuck in park in a drive through fast food restaurant line. Luckily I acted quick and resolved the issue by locating the gasket and dropping the ball into the shifter cable hole. On the highway I noticed white smoke and sputtering/jerking, I took the car straight to ford. Dropped it off and today learned there is coolant intrusion causing the engine to have to be replaced while other vehicles are hnder recall mine is not. This vehicle is a major safety concern.
Mu 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium hesitates to start back up after fueling and needs to be repeated multiple times, pumping the gas pedal for a few tries before it eventually stabilizes, accompanied by a very intense odor of exhaust. Final Verdict: Emissions Purge Valve Assembly failure

Coolant is leaking into the engine causing the engine to fail. The engine is going to have to be replaced. This is a known problem in the 2013 to 2019 Ford Fusions. Ford refuses to he'll with the issue.
The engine would not product power from stop to driving speed. This became evident when we were trying to accelerate to make a left turn through oncoming traffic. We were almost in an accident as the car / engine would not accelerate under partial or wide open throttle. I had my wife, child, and a child's friend in the vehicle at the time this issue first occurred. The Vehicle is currently in my position in front of my house. It is available for inspection if needed. The vehicle was inspected and was shown to have no compression in cylinder #2. This was causing a misfire in cylinder #2. This was causing the loss of power. There were no indicators prior to the loss of power. This vehicle was in the same shop a month and half prior to replace a water pump and belt.
My vehicle's engine or turbo randomly started sucking coolant and blowing white smoke from the exhaust.
Yes check engine light came on. On the high way and my car started jerking back and forth out of control I could have been rear ended and my car started to slow down my gas peddle would not allow me to accelerate I did get to side of high way and had to figure out where to get a tow truck i put my car in shop I’ve been told I need a new transmission and I wasn’t able to fix that on my own ford has sent me a recall letter but only to fix half of my transmission and also my brake peddle got recalled I really need these problems fixed and done right not sure who I’m suppose to reach

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L . Months ago i had drove it and it over heated and i put antifreeze and it ran right back up , the next day it wouldn’t start went to the shop got it fixed ran for a day then the next day it stopped again . Any suggestions of what’s going on.? They said i would have to replace the whole engine if so how would i know if i have the cylinder temp sensor or not . I see many cases of it so wanted to will Ford be covering for this defect
Engine has failed and what I’ve been hearing and reading all over the internet it’s a common problem in 1.5 engines I need an entire new engine because the coolant was leaking into the motor
My 2014 ford fusion eco boost was cranked, a message popped up about overheating and the pedal went out. 2 Car shops later, ive replaced the thermostat, water pump and timing belt to find now it has a cracked engine. I have never missed a oil change and always kept fluids in my car, it has less than 60,000 miles. This a a defective issue in a court case strung out for years about allecoboosts. People are buying these cars like me, i paid $26,000 for mine and having the engine blown shortly after and all ecoboosts are. This is a ford issue and I should not be held responsible to pay for a new engine, esp when it will happen again with the new engine as it is a defect from ford !! See link ! https://fordauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/2020-Ford-Escape-Exterior-021-Titanium.jpg
Coolant intrusion into cylinders two and three. Replacement of full engine required 76k miles. Vehicle stalled on interstate in heavy traffic. Technical service bulletin posted by Ford motor company regarding above issue.
Coolant level low indicator comes on. Checked level and looked low but I take cap off and level normalized as if there was suction on the reservoir. Replaced the cap. Nothing changed. When I would start the car it would run like it’s misfiring and sometimes stall out completely. Check engine light would come on. Kept checking coolant and it wasn’t low. Sounds like a bad sensor, right? I’ve kept up on my recalls and it had been replaced when that recall came out. I told my mechanic about the issue when I brought it to the shop for oil change and brakes/tires/rotors. He could not replicate the problem because the car kept clearing the code and it never misfired when he started it. (I should mention that at first this was an intermittent issue when it started in July.) I had no choice but to drive the car when I went to visit my mom 5 hours away in early august. I went to start the car in her driveway one morning and within seconds the temp gage went all the way to hot. Obviously the car can’t actually overheat that fast, but regardless, it went into limp mode. This time the coolant level actually was low, however not so low as to merit what was happening. I topped off the coolant level. Started it again. Same thing happened again. Called tow truck to bring to the shop. When we loaded it onto the tow truck it started up and didn’t throw any codes. WTF?! So it goes to the shop and again they can’t replicate the problem. Said a mechanic drove it for over an hour and nothing happened. I pick the car up and drive it back home. Coolant low message comes on a half hour from home. I was away for the better part of august so I couldn’t do anything with the car. Dropped it off at Ford last week. They said I have cracks in cylinder walls and there’s significant amount of coolant in the engine. The mechanic said he’s been seeing this happening with a lot of the 1.6 eco boost engines. I’m just past warranty. I just paid this car off last year. I am infuriated.
I have a 2014 hybrid with 91000. Miles on it and the transmission already went out. That is ridiculous and Ford should have are all on this. It’s 5600 for a new one.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his son was driving 45-50 mph, the low coolant warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that his son was able to veer to side of the roadway, where he attempted to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact restarted the vehicle and the vehicle was then taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine coolant was leaking in the engine block. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 89,471.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle would misfire without warning. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving 15 mph, the low engine coolant warning light was illuminated and the vehicle went into limp mode. The driver parked the vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,900.
Coolant leaking into engine. Misfires, stalling, white smoke from tail pipe.
TL* THE CONTACT'S WIFE OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING AS INDICATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE THEN SHIFTED INTO LIMP MODE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COOL OFF HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DICK SMITH FORD OF COLUMBIA (7201 GARNERS FERRY RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29209) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. SEVERAL UNKNOWN TROUBLE CODES WERE CLEARED AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT. AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
CAR STALS WITHOUT WARNING HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.CAR DEALER SAID THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM.BUT STILL STAYS OUT.WHILE DRIVING CAR ON HIGHWAY JUST STOPPED NO POWER AT ALL.NEXT TO TIMES WAITING TO TURNINGS TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE'S ENGINE MISFIRES AND STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER COLD START TRIGGERING ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC CODE. FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED INSPECTED (4/23/2019) BUT DID NOT FIND CAUSE OF MISFIRES AND STALLS. I REPLACED THE OEM LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR (11/8/2019) AS SUGGESTED BY OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES FOR LIKE MODEL VEHICLES. THE ENGINE HAS CONTINUED TO MISFIRE AND STALL AFTER REPLACING LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR. DURING A RECENT INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE BY A LOCAL SERVICE CENTER (3/17/2021), THE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT WAS ABNORMALLY LOW. THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND LOW COOLANT SUGGEST A POSSIBLE COOLANT INTRUSION INTO ENGINE CYLINDERS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED WITH OTHER LIKE MODEL FORD VEHICLES WITH ECOBOOST ENGINES (SEE TSB 20-2100). IN MY OPINION, THERE IS SUBSTANTIAL RISK OF INJURY TO OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AS THE MISFIRES AND STALLS ARE MORE LIKELY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND THE DRIVER IS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STATIONARY POSITION. E.G. TURNING ONTO A BUSY STREET AND MERGING WITH TRAFFIC. FORD SHOULD REPLACE HEAD GASKET FOR AFFECTED VEHICLES AND SMALL BLOCK FOR CUSTOMERS WHO EXPERIENCE COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE.
1.5 FORD FUSION SHORT BLOCK ENGINE ANTIFREEZE LEAKING TO CYLINDER CAUSING MISS FIRE OR FIRE THE ENGINE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS , I GOT LUCKY MY ENGINE CAUSED MISS FIRE AND I HAVE TO REPLACE IT WITH LONG BLOCK ENGINE . WHEN ANTIFREEZE LEAK TO CYLINDER ITS MAKE ALOT OF SMOKE , THATS WHAT HAPPENED INSIDE MY GARAGE I WAS LUCKY AGAIN TOOK MY KIDS OUT OF GARAGE BEFORE THEY GOT SUFFOCATION FROM THE SMOKE .
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AS I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO CUT MY CAR OFF AS TO 'RESTART' IT WOULD ALLOW ME TO DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT FAR FROM HOME. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED AND I HAD NO WARNING OR INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I JUST GOT AN OIL CHANGE 2 WEEKS AGO AND I KEEP UP ON MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE. I WENT TO THE INTERNET AND RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND I CAME ACROSS A BUNCH. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE A HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING.
THE CAR RAN HOT ON ME AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR HAD WHAT THEY CALL COOLANT INTRUSION. I HAD TO TO GET A NEW BLOCK FOR THE VEHICLE.
I HEARD A NOISE IN MY VEHICLE IN JULY. I HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER TAKE A DRIVE. HE THOUGHT IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING. ON SEPTEMBER 2 I TOOK IT IN TO BE FIXED. THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NOT A WHEEL BEARING. IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I NEEDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. I HAVE ATTACHED THE WORK ORDER FROM THE DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTING THIS FACT.
I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR AND HAD IT SERVICED REGULARLY. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED HAVING STARTUP ISSUES WITH WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS INDICATING MISFIRE ON THIRD CYLINDER AND RANDOM MISFIRES ON STARTUP. SHORTLY AFTER THESE SYMPTOMS PRESENTED, THE CAR RAPIDLY OVERHEATED WHILE IN MOTION AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO TWO SHOPS AND BOTH CONFIRMED IT IS RELATED TO A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY ENGINE (1.5 ECOBOOST) FOR WHICH FORD HAS RELEASED MULTIPLE CORRECTIONS IN THE FORM OF TSBS, FSAS, AND CSPS. THE DESIGN OF THE SHORT BLOCK AND THE ENGINE PROGRAMMING HAVE CAUSED THE COOLANT TO PREMATURELY DEGRADE THE HEAD GASKET WHICH LEADS TO COOLANT INTRUSION INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDERS. IN MY SPECIFIC CASE, THE ISSUE HAS PRESENTED IN CYLINDER 3. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE BY THE DEALER FORD OF PORT RICHEY OR THE MANUFACTURER AND IT WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DESPITE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE ORIGINATING AT THE MANUFACTURER FROM THE DESIGN OF THE SHORT BLOCK COOLANT PASSAGES AND THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING OF THE ENGINE. THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL CONSIDERING IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SPONTANEOUSLY OVERHEAT UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS, LEAVING A DRIVER AND THEIR TWO CHILDREN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
DROVE MY 2014 FUSION WITH APPROX 141,800 MILES ON IT TO WORK (APPROX 30 MILES) THE NIGHT OF 8/25/2020 WITH NO ISSUES OR WARNING LIGHTS UPON PARKING IN THE PARKING GARAGE AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING IT FAILED TO START WITH THE REMOTE. WHEN I GOT IN AND TRIED TO START IT, IT STILL WOULD NOT START AND IT PROVIDED NO WARNING LIGHTS. HAD SOMEONE ATTEMPT TO JUMP IT WHICH OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK, SO WAS IT TOWED TO A NEARBY FORD SERVICE CENTER. THE SUMMARY OF THEIR DIAGNOSTICS WAS AS FOLLOWS: THERE WAS NO COOLANT (WHICH I HAD PUT SOME IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS PRIOR, AFTER THE CAR DID PROVIDE A WARNING THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING. I HAD PRESUMED THAT THE FORD QUICK LANE FORGOT TO CHECK MY COOLANT LEVELS WHEN IT WAS THERE 5/13/20 AND AT THIS TIME IT WAS LOW BUT NOT EMPTY), SPARK PLUG NUMBER 2 HAD COOLANT ON IT, CYLINDER #2 ALSO HAD COOLANT IN IT, AND AFTER CLEANING ALL SPARK PLUGS AND REINSTALLING THEM WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE WHICH SMELLED LIKE COOLANT. IT WAS REQUESTED THAT I REPLACE THE BATTERY AND GET A NEW ENGINE AT WHICH THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF $6526.86. AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND ASKING A NON-FORD MECHANIC, HE AGREED IT WAS A FORD DEFECT. FORD WAS NOTIFIED VIA PHONE AND A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED, BUT SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP WITH THIS MATTER. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THE 1.6L AND 2.0L HAD THAT WAS RECALLED AND FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THE ISSUE WITH THE 1.5L IN SSM 48106. REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE THE CAR RUNS GREAT OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE AND IS CURRENTLY PARKED WHILE MAKING A DECISION TO FIX OR SELL. NOTE: ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORK ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DONE BY FORD.
2014 FORD FUSION HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEMS AND NEVER INDICATED ANY OVERHEATING. AT 60K MILES THE DASH INDICATED ENGINE OVERHEATED. PARKED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE COOLANT ENTERED THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEADS AND THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
FORD SOLD ME A 2014 FORD FUSION WITH A FAULTY ENGINE BLOCK. MY ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY FAILED FROM COOLANT ENTERING THE CYLINDER AND FORD WILL ONLY FIX THE 1.6 AND UP ENGINE
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PREVIOUS ISSUES, THE CAR STARTED OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AFTER TURNING ON THE HEAT (ON A 90 DEGREE DAY) AND RIDING IT OUT. IT TURNED OUT MY CAR WAS OUT OF COOLANT, WHICH WAS ODD. WE FILLED IT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN MY CAR SAT FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND WHEN IT WAS JUMPED EVERY WARNING CAME UP ON MY DASH AND MY ENGINE WAS IN LIMP MODE. TURNS OUT MY CYLINDER CRACKED AND COOLANT WAS FLOODING MY ENGINE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL'S ENGINE AND FORD HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO REMEDY IT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT BEGIN TO SPUDDER AND HAD HARD TIME GOING. WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM TAIL PIPE AND WHEN I PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHERE YOU PUT OIL IN. I WAS AFRAID IT WAS FIXING TO CATCH ON FIRE. EVEN HAD SOMEONE PULL UP BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE. MY CAR WILL NOT START NOW.

ACCELERATING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND SLUGGISH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. PULLED OFF HIGHWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE ON THE 1.6L AND 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINES WHERE COOLANT LEAKS INTO THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER CAUSING LOW COMPRESSION AND POTENTIAL OVERHEATING RENDERING VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE. FORD QUOTED ME $6,500 FOR A NEW ENGINE, AS THEY STATED, IS THE ONLY FIX. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE HOOK BECAUSE OF A CLEAR AND OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW AS STATED BY FORD INCLUDED IN THE 1.6L ECOBOOST RECALL, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO INCLUDE THE 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINES. (SEE ATTACHED LINK REGARDING POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION SUIT AS PREPARED BY A NASHVILLE LAW FIRM) COUNTLESS OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ON HERE AND OTHER FORUMS. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED IMMEDIATELY TO INCLUDE THE 2014 FUSION 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINES!!! PLEASE REFER TO BELOW LINK... HTTPS://WWW.NEWSOM.LAW/FORD-ENGINE-OVERHEATING-LAWSUIT.HTML. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I GOT THE NOTIFICATION THAT MY CAR WAS RUNNING HOT. I WASN'T TO FAR FROM HOME SO I DECIDED TO KEEP DRIVING, WHEN I SLOWED DOWN IT WOULD LEVEL OUT BUT WHEN I WOULD SPEED UP I WOULD GET THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN. MY HUSBAND PUT COOLANT IN IT THAT DAY BUT WITHIN TWO WEEKS WE GOT THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN AND HAD TO PURCHASE MORE COOLANT TO PUT IN THE CAR AND THEN ANOTHER TWO WEEKS WE GOT THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN. HAD TO PUT EVEN MORE COOLANT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT MY COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO MY ENGINE AND IT WILL BE 6500 TO REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND OTHER FORDS HAVE HAD RECALLS DEALING WITH THE COOLANT BUT MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THOSE RECALLS. *TR

TURBO ON THE ECO BOOST ENGINE FAILED WITHIN 70,000 MILES RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER
MY 2014 FORD FUSION WITH 54,000 MILES HAS AN ENGINE PROBLEM. SOMEHOW THE COOLANT/ANTI-FREEZE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE. INITIALLY I SENT IT TO FORD OF WAXAHACHIE, TX WHEN THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LOW COOLANT AND SENT MY CAR HOME. 5 DAYS LATER I'M 20 MILES FROM HOME AND IT OVERHEATS AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE COOLANT CONTINUED TO GET INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH WARPED GASKET OR CYLINDER AND THIS TIME IT RUINED MY ENGINE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD AND THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY OF THE BLAME ON THE MISDIAGNOSIS. INSTEAD THEY PREFER I PAY $6,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE.

CAR SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD OUT OF PARK AFTER SITTING FOR AN HOUR OR MORE. ALSO SHIFTS VERY HARD INTO 3RD GEAR WHILE DRIVING, REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH THROTTLE YOU GIVE IT.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR STARTED TO SAY THAT IT THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS OVER HEATINGS PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF YET.AFTER SITTING FOR OVER 3 HOURS THE CAR STILL ALERTS ME THAT THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS HIGH. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR.
MY CARS ENGINE SHUTS OFF AFTER ACCELERATING WITH NO WARNING. NO ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON DURING THE PROCESS AND MY CAR REMAINS IN MOTION BUT CAN'T ACCELERATE. THE CAR STARTS TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY WHEN RIGHT BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. I NEED TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON TO GET IT GOING, BUT IT BECOMES DANGEROUS WHEN ON THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO CAN'T DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS AFTER A SECOND STARTUP OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN AN HOUR TIME OF SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE SECOND FAILED DRIVE, EVERYTHING WORKS CORRECTLY AGAIN. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS KEEP WORKING WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. HAPPENED 12 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR ME SINCE FEBRUARY.

FUEL INJECTOR STUCK OPEN CAUSING RAW FUEL TO GO INTO PISTONS ONLY 68K
MY CAR IS STALLING AFTER IT IS DRIVEN FOR 15-20 MINS. ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, IF IT IS STARTED WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR, IT ALWAYS STALLS OUT. I SEE THAT FORD FUSION HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED. THIS IS THE NOTE THAT I SAW ONLINE FOR THE FORD FOCUS RECALL, "FORD IS RECALLING NEARLY 1.3 MILLION FOCUS COMPACT CARS IN THE U.S. BECAUSE A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM CAN CAUSE THE ENGINES TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE RECALL COVERS CARS FROM 2012 THROUGH 2018 WITH 2-LITER FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINES." I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY KEEP DIAGNOSING IT AS A BAD FUEL SENSORS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. WELL, I'VE REPLACED THEM ALREADY AND THE SAME PROBLEM KEEPS HAPPENING. I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP PAYING THE DEALER FOR SOMETHING THAT I BELIEVE IS AN ISSUE THAT THEY SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF SINCE THEIR OTHER VEHICLES WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
ECOBOOST ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. SMOKE WAS POURING OUT, COMPLETE POWER LOSS DURING DRIVE ON CITY STREET. FORD REFUSAL TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM WITH ECOBOOST ENGINE. OUR ECOBOOST ENGINE CRACKED AND FAILED. OUR VIN NOT INCLUDED IN THE ECOBOOST RECALL. WE HAD TO PAY $4,200 OUT OF POCKET TO BUY NEW ENGINE AND NEW TURBO. 44 DAYS WITHOUT VEHICLE. WE ARE AWARE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN THE UK FOR A TOTAL OF 2000 AND COUNTING CONFIRMED ECOBOOST ENGINE FAILURES THAT FORD IS TRYING TO IGNORE LIABILITY. ECOBOOST NIGHTMARE UK. PLEASE HELP US MAKE FORD LIABLE FOR THESE KNOWN DEFECTS WITH ECOBOOST ENGINES AND GET OUR MONEY BACK!
I HAPPENED TO BE DRIVING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, WHEN MY CAR BEGAN TO RUN HOT. I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PART THAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO RUN HOT BUT WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER ATTENTION THEY DIDN'T HAVE RECALL INFORMATION FOR MY VEHICLE BUT FOR OTHERS VEHICLES, ALSO SINCE THEY CLAIM TO NOT HAVE RECALL ON JUST MINES THEY ALSO DIDN'T HAVE MEANS TO PROVIDING A PART FOR ME TO PURCHASE BUT TOLD ME TO LOOK IN JUNKYARD. I RECENTLY WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE INCIDENT FOR ALMOST A TOTAL OF EIGHT RECALLS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE THEY FIXED THEM AND I WAS HAPPY BUT THE NEXT DAY COMES AROUND AND THE INFORMATION LIGHT COMES ON SAYING SEE DEALER SO I WENT BACK AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR SOMETHING THEY JUST EXAMINED. I JUST WANT TO BE SAFE IN MY CAR AGAIN OR JUST TAKE CAR OFF MARKET PLEASE TO MUCH GOING ON AS FAR AS RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL FORD FUSION TITANIUM 14 ENERGI
LOUD NOISE FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR ON THANKSGIVING DAY. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHICH IS 2 MILES FROM OUR HOME. HE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AS A BAD WATER PUMP BUT WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE WATER PUMP WOULD GO BAD AT ONLY 77K MILES. WHEN HE WENT TO ORDER THE PART HE FOUND OUT THAT THE EXISTING WATER PUMP HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED BY A WATER PUMP THAT NO LONGER USED THE ELECTRONICS THAT THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP USED. FORD (FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP)TECHS EXPLAINED THAT THE EXISTING WIRES SHOULD JUST BE CUT AND SHRINKWRAPPED AS THEY WERE NO LONGER NEEDED. HE ALSO LEARNED THAT TO DO THE INSTALL OF THE NEWER VERSION WATER PUMP THAT THE TIMING BELT WOULD NEED TO BE ADJUSTED AND A 'SPECIAL TIMING KIT' WOULD BE NEEDED. THIS REPAIR ACTUALLY INVOLVED REMOVING THE RIGHT SIDE AXLE TO USE THE 'SPECIAL TIMING KIT'. I CAN FIND NO RECALL ON THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED WITH AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PART. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND A PHONE COMPLAINT WITH FORD CORPORATE WAS FILED TODAY. FORD REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHY THE PUMP WAS DISCONTINUED AND OFFERED NO HELP IN COVERING THIS WEEK LONG EXPENSIVE REPAIR. MY LOCAL MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY RECALL WORTHY BUT A SAFETY HAZARD AND I SHOULD REPORT IT TO YOU IMMEDIATELY.
EVERY SO OFTEN MY CAR WILL STALL OUT. I WILL RESTART AND IT WILL STALL OUT ALEAST 3 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL DRIVE NORMAL, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BEFORE THE STALLING OUT STOPS. IF I MAKE A LONG TRIP 20 MILES OR MORE, AND REACH MY DESTINATION CAR WILL SHALL AT THE END OF THE TRIP OR WHEN IM LEAVING FROM A LONG TRIP. I CANT SEEM TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON LONG ENOUGH FOR THE DEALER TO CHECK DUE TO LIGHT WILL CLEAR.
MY FUSION A/C CLUTCH BOLT CAME OUT AND THE CLUTCH WHEEL CAME OFF. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND IT ALL BOUNCED UNDER MY CAR. THE A/C DOES NOT WORK NOW. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE COME LOOSE TO FALL OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND COOLANT LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAPITOL FORD (919 CAPITOL EXPRESSWAY AUTO MALL, SAN JOSE, CA 95136, (408) 426-8298) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE, AND THE HEAD GASKET, CAMSHAFT AND TIMING BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE CAM PHASERS MAY BE STICKING AND ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,571.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO STEARNS FORD (602 ALAMANCE ROAD, BURLINGTON, NC 27215) AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT MIXED WITH THE OIL AND THE ENGINE BLOCK FRACTURED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BEGINNING OF JULY AS I WAS TRAVELING INTERSTATE IN HEAT ((98 DEGREES) . WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS ALONG WIT THE WRENCH LIGHT. I NOTICED A SMELL BUT THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT SINCE IT WAS SO HOT OUTSIDE. THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD AND REPLACED BY FORD (TRANSMISSION PULLED) BUT ALSO THE MECHANIC NOTICED LEAKING OF COOLANT AND I HAD TO REPLACE COOLANT FLANGE, THE G-ADAPTOR-WATER OUTLET CONNECT, COOLANT OUTLET PIPE AND OF COURSE, ANTIFREEZE. MOST FUSIONS RECALLED BUT NOT MINE ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, I HAVE A 1.5 L ENGINE BUILT IS FLAT ROCK ASSEMBLY AS OTHERS WERE. I WAS TOLD BY THEM TO HOLD ONTO THE BILL. REALLY?

MY 2014 FUSION IS PERIODICALLY OVERHEATING. AFTER TAKING IT TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS & NEITHER ONE BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IS CAUSING IT I FOUND RECALL #17S09 INVOLVING THE SAME YR, MODEL & ASSEMBLY PLANT AS MY VEHICLE BUT ONLY INCLUDING 1.6L GTDI ENGINES. MY VEHICLE HAS A 1.5L GTDI & I BELIEVE IS BEING AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 1.6L MODELS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED.
VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD WITH 2014 FORD FUSION. THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING ON ME. TYPICALLY IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM LEAVING A PARKING LOT OR GAS STATION, PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN/LIGHT, OR REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPOT AND SHIFTING BACK INTO DRIVE. IT WILL SPUTTER, THE RPM NEEDLE RAPIDLY FLUCTUATES ABOVE 1 AND UNDER 1, AND THEN WILL JUST GO TO 0. AT ALL TIMES I AM DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT NUMEROUS TIMES I WAS EITHER DRIVING INTO A BUSY STREET OR IT STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION WHERE I OR OTHER PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS, BUT IT IS VERY RANDOM. ONE DAY IT HAPPENED ONE TIME AT AN INTERSECTION, THEN IT HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE EVENING IT WAS TO THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE BECAUSE THERE IS NO CODE. THERE IS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON, SO THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I SEARCHED NHTSA WEBSITE AND I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO REPORTS THIS PROBLEM. MY COWORKER ALSO HAS A 2014 FORD FUSION AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. CURRENTLY 28,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED
MY CAR WAS MAKING A LOAD NOISE SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO REFERRED ME TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE COMPLEXITY OF THE VEHICLE. TOWED THE CAR TO MORGAN HILL FORD STORE IN MORGAN HILL CALIFORNIA AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE WAS NO GOOD, THAT THE MOTOR BOLTS DISLODGED AND MELTED CAUSING THE BOLTS TO SHRED; THE DEALER SERVICE PERSON RYAN ADVISED THAT THE SHREDDED METAL GOT INTO THE OIL AND WENT THROUGH MY ENTIRE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAIL. MY CAR WAS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD, 90,000 MILES BUT FREQUENT OIL CHANGES WITH THE EXTENDED MAINTENANCE PACKAGE. THERE WAS NO HINT THAT THE CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES, NO ENGINE LIGHT, NOR THE CHECK OIL LIGHT. I HAVE A 2013 FORD FUSION THAT WAS RECALLED FOR FAULTY ENGINE BOLTS.
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL, NECESSITATING RE-START AND NORMAL OPERATION. REPLACEMENT OF PART # BU5Z*9F972*B SENSOR FIXED THE PROBLEM.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. MY FORD FUSION (2014) ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THE SCENARIO IS THAT AFTER DRIVING IT ON MY COMMUTE (40 MILES / 1 HOUR DRIVING) AND THEN STOPPING QUICKLY TO GRAB FOOD, WHEN I LEAVE THE PARKING LOT IT WILL SHUT DOWN. I PULL OVER AND THEN START IT BACK UP AND DRIVE AWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES.
I WAS DRIVING 25MPH ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO GO OVER A SPEED BUMP. AFTER GOING OVER THE BUMP, I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR FELT AS IF IT HAD CHOKED AND LOST ALL POWER. WITHIN 30 SECONDS A WARNING ON MY DASH ASKED ME TO PULL OVER SAFELY NOW. AFTER FINDING A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, I REMAINED IN MY CAR. THE BATTERY LIFE CONTINUED TO RUN DOWN UNTIL IT WAS DEAD AND THE MOTOR NEVER KICKED ON TO RECHARGE IT. IT TURNED ITSELF OFF AND 30 MINUTES LATER I TRIED TO RESTART MY VEHICLE. IT TURNED ON, ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON ITS MOTOR SINCE IT COULD NOT IDLE ON ITS DEAD BATTERY, AND THE CARS WARNING SIGNS CAME ON THEN DIED AGAIN. THERE IS NO EXPLANATION FOR THIS MALFUNCTION AND THE RECALLS MADE ARE NOT RELEVANT TO THE ISSUE OCCURRING. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 8 WEEKS AGO AND IT HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSES THEY INFORMED THAT IT HAD A CRACKED BLOCK ON #4 CYLINDER. QUOTED A COMPLETE MOTOR CHANGE.
EXHAUST IS COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. FORD HAS HAD THIS CAR IN THE SHOP IN THE PAST FOR THIS ISSUE BUT IT THE PROBLEM HAS REAPPEARED. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRESH AIR BLEND DOOR. THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR HAS OFFERED TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK DUE TO NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE A SCAN TOOL WAS USED TO DIAGNOSE THE ENGINE, WHICH GENERATED A P1450 CODE. THE CODE WAS RESET AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, AFTER FUELING THE FUEL TANK AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME FUEL WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE FORD MURFREESBORO DEALER IN TENNESSEE WHERE AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF AFTER FUELING. IF I SIT AT AN IDLE IT WILL START TO RUN ROUGH. WHILE IN MOTION THERE IS A VIBRATION HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM WHERE YOU PUT THE FUEL IN. IF I PRESS THE FLAP IT RELEASES A BUILDUP OF GAS FUMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE ENGINE STALLED, BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN PARK, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY REPAIR CENTER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BASED ON THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS) AND 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,327.
WETHER THE CAR IS COLD OR WARM, EVERYTIME I DRIVE, I GET A HARDSHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. ALSO WHEN I MAKE A STOP AND TRY TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR JERKS FROM ON THE 1ST GEAR. WHEN I'M GOING ON A DOWNHILL AND LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL AND SLOWLY START BRAKING, THE WOULD GO FROM 2,000 RPM TO 5,000 RPM WHILE I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I GO TO ANY GAS STATION I CAN'T LEAVE THE PUMP ON AUTO BECAUSE IT WOULD STOP PUMPING, SO I HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY, IN ORDER TO GET A FULL TANK.
I HAVE STARTED MY CAR AFTER BEING IN A STORE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THE CAR STARTED AND I PLACED IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A SPACE AND THEN PLACED INTO DRIVE. WITHIN A YARD OR TWO THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT THEN GAVE A MESSAGE TO PRESS BRAKE TO START. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES IN THE LAST FEW DAYS. THE DEALER SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. IF I START DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THEN FORD WILL BE AT FAULT BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE.
CODE P2111 THROTTLE BODY , AFTER ACELARATION WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN TO IDLING ON 2 CYLINDERS, NEARLY A ACCIDENT HAPPENED , CAR ONLY HAS 38,400 MILES ON IT, I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. THEY OFFERED NO HELP, WOW !!
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, WHILE PARKED AND INDLING WITH THE ENGIINE ON, IT STALLED AGAIN AFTER APPEARING TO HAVE TROUBLE AT THE LOW IDLE SPEED.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD FUSION WITH 31,252 MILES. IT WAS BUILT IN SEPTEMBER 2013 AND PURCHASED ON JUNE 27, 2014. ON NOVEMBER 8, 2015, THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE STATIONARY AT A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY STREET. IT RESTARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT AFTER IT WAS PUT INTO PARK. THE IGNITION SWITCH TORQUE SEEMS SUFFICIENT TO KEEP THE SWITCH FROM TURNING OFF BY ITSELF. THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK, OVERHEATED, AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, EXHAUST FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
THIS 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS AT OR VERY NEARLY AT A COMPLETE STOP IN NEUTRAL GEAR. THE ENGINE STALLS MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN IT'S RAINING. THE ENGINE STALLS WERE APPROXIMATELY 20-25 TIMES OVER 4-5 MONTHS. THE IGNITION BUTTON, INTERMITTENTLY, DOESN'T START THE CAR THE FIRST TIME AND HAS TO BE PUSHED TWICE BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTS. THE FUEL LIGHT GAUGE INTERMITTENTLY LIGHTS UP BETWEEN 1/4 OR 1/8 OF A TANK, OTHERWISE IT LIGHTS UP WHEN THE LINE IS BASICALLY AT THE BOTTOM. INTERMITTENTLY THE SUNROOF DOESN'T OPEN OR CLOSE PROPERLY. SOMETIMES IT REMAINS OPEN WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, THE INTERIOR HEADLINER IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. IF YOU AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW THE SUNROOF IS ACTUALLY OPEN BECAUSE THE INTERIOR HEADLINER REMAINS CLOSED.
I HAD MY 2014 FORD FUSION BROUGHT TO WALMART FOR AN OIL CHANGE ON JULY 11, 2014. THE TECHNICIANS COMMENT ON THE SERVICE ORDER/RECEIPT STATED TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING. THE TECHNICIAN INVITED TO THEIR WORK AREA AND SHOWED ME THE LEAK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I DROPPED OFF THE CAR TO THEM ON JULY 28, 2014 AROUND 5:00 PM. ON THE FOLLOWING DAY, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THEM TELLING ME THAT THE CAR WAS FIXED. THE PROBLEM WAS THE ? LEFT FRONT AXLE SEAL LEAKS. RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND OUT THIS IS NOT REALLY AN ISOLATED CASE. FOR SOME REASON, I NOW HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS MAY NOT BE THE LAST TIME I WILL BE DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE ONLY THE SEAL WAS REPLACED. *TR
