Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 1408)
Steering →4 issues
While driving your 2014 Ford Fusion in a snowstorm, your power steering suddenly failed and you saw a "Steering Assist Fault" warning message. The steering became extremely hard to turn, creating a serious safety risk. A dealership diagnosed the problem as a failure in the electric power steering gear assembly, likely due to corroded or broken motor bolts similar to issues covered under Ford recall 19S26. The fix will require replacement of the steering gear assembly and related components.

Back Over Prevention →3 issues
Your rear view camera is not working and displays an error message telling you to visit a dealership. The problem started intermittently — it would fail when temperatures were hot — but now the camera doesn't work at all. You've noticed that other Ford Fusions have a recall for what appears to be the same issue, suggesting this problem may affect additional model years beyond those currently recalled.

Your rearview camera display goes black or shows a distorted image when you put the car in reverse, though this happens only sometimes. An independent mechanic couldn't reproduce the problem when they checked it. You believe this is related to a Ford recall, but the dealer said your vehicle's VIN isn't included in that recall and won't cover the repair. The issue started around 120,000 miles.
Parts you may need:
As an Amazon Associate, MyCarTSB earns from qualifying purchases.
Your cross traffic alert warning light isn't illuminating on the dashboard even though the system is actually functioning properly. This means the safety feature is working, but you won't see the visual indicator when it detects cross traffic. The fix will likely involve replacing the dashboard warning light bulb or addressing an electrical connection to the light itself.

Electrical System,service Brakes,engine →1 issue
Your 2014 Ford Fusion caught fire while parked in your garage, and the vehicle became stuck in park during the incident. This happened less than a year after you purchased it, and you hadn't made any modifications or repairs yourself. The only work done was parking brake service at a dealer before you took ownership. The fire department responded and documented the incident. A thorough electrical and engine system inspection will be needed to identify what caused the fire.

Seat Belts →1 issue
Your rear seat belt buckles (the plastic clasps on both sides) have broken and no longer work, preventing children from safely using the rear seats. You've found that replacement parts aren't currently available through normal channels. This issue appears to be affecting other 2014 Ford Fusions based on online reports. Repair will likely require replacing the entire rear seat belt assembly on both sides.

Steering,suspension,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car's power steering system suddenly failed, leaving you unable to turn the steering wheel without extreme effort. Multiple warning lights appeared simultaneously—including loss of steering assist, adaptive cruise control unavailable, and hill start assist failures. The dealer identified a failed electronic rack and pinion steering unit requiring replacement at a significant cost, and the complaint suggests this may be a recurring issue affecting other vehicles of the same year, make, and model.

Fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your car won't start right after you fill up the gas tank. You need to press the gas pedal several times before the engine will turn over. This appears to be caused by a stuck purge valve that allows fuel vapors to enter the engine, causing it to run too rich with excess fuel. The fix will likely involve replacing or cleaning the purge control valve and possibly the charcoal canister.
Parts you may need:
As an Amazon Associate, MyCarTSB earns from qualifying purchases.
Electrical System, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your rearview camera often fails to display when you put the car in reverse, and when it does work, the image may be flipped or mirrored, making it difficult to see what's behind you safely. The camera only functions reliably about 1 in 10 times, and this failure happens without warning, creating a risk that you might miss pedestrians, children, or obstacles when backing up. Ford dealership inspection didn't resolve the issue since your vehicle was out of warranty, though you're aware that Ford has issued recalls for similar camera failures on 2015 and newer Fusion models. Fixing this will likely require replacement or repair of the rearview camera system and its wiring.
Parts you may need:

Exterior Lighting,service Brakes →1 issue
Your car's brake lights stayed on continuously, and a part broke off near the brake pedal area, forcing you to unplug the brake switch to prevent the battery from dying. Without the brake switch connected, your car won't shift into gear or drive. The issue caused your car to slow down significantly on the highway and limited you to a maximum speed of 40 mph. Fixing this will likely require replacing the broken brake switch or related brake pedal component and reconnecting the electrical connection.
Parts you may need:
