Your brake pedal has become hard and difficult to press, and your car takes longer to stop because the brake assist system keeps failing. Even after the dealership replaced the vacuum pump, the problem hasn't been fully fixed and the real cause hasn't been found. You're worried this is part of a bigger brake system problem that could be dangerous.

Brake lights stay on even after turning off car. According to my research the problem is a brake pedal bumper that deteriorated. I actually found the rubber piece on the floor. Prior to finding out my brakes remained on, the red engine light turned on. I checked recalls for this problem, and there was one, but it was only valid for high humidity States. I live in California so I didn't qualify. Now, due to not knowing what the red light was about, and it being smog time, I cleared the engine light. Well, I didn't know that disqualifies my smog test because other codes were erased.now I have a car that is battery disconnect since I can't drive it due to not smog certified. All because of a rubber brake part falling off. I?called my dealer if it was covered by recall, they said no, even though there IS a recall for humid areas. I don't live in a humid area. So my case shows that it DOES NOT have to be humidity related. It's just a cheap quality part. I'm hoping this changes to include ALL areas. Thank you.
My brakes periodically engage autonomously, including when I have cruise control on, or at home, which respectively turns off cruise control, and leaves my brakes lights on, killing my battery. It is my understanding that my year make and model have a recall for the brake sensor switch, but does not show for my VIN. My car was located in Texas satisfying the hot/ humid condition of the existing recall.
My brake fluid line ruptured and the dealer refused repair and told me that even if they did repair it I would take 2 days and wouldn’t provide a loaner/rental so I had took to a different shop that I had to pay out of pocket for and was done in an hour.and also this is a recall for my year make and model and isn’t on my vin

My brake pedal began losing pressure while driving. the low brake fluid light and a beeping tone started and stopped intermittently when applying the brakes. I made it safely home that evening. The next morning there was no brake pressure on the pedal and a puddle of fluid in the garage. I have had issues getting Ford and my local dealership (Joe Machens Ford) to tow my vehicle for repairs and supply me with a loaner vehicle in the meantime. I was told I would have to pay to fix the issue myself or wait for parts to be made available in Q3 2023 by the Ford representative over the phone.

This is actually not a complaint. The recall for my 2014 Ford Fusion has been completed. Recall 23S12/NHTSA Recall 23V162. The brake lines leaked last fall sometime, so I had it repaired at a local auto repair shop, not a Ford Dealer. After the repair, I got the recall notice. I took the notice and my receipt to my Ford Dealer, Borgman Ford, Grandville, Michigan. I was reimbursed by them for the cost of the repair. Evidently, they did not enter into the database that the repair has been done, because I am still getting the recall notices. Getting the notices is not what bothers me, it's that if and when I decide to sell or trade it in, the recall will show not complete. I would appreciate it if you could complete the recall notice.

2015 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT FORD WILL NOT REIMBURSE THEM FOR ALL REPAIRS.
While riding in the above vehicle we were going about 40 miles per hour. Then about 50 feet in front of us there was a vehicle that was reversing. The driver hit the break very hard but the vehicle was not slowing down. While I understand that the recent recalls of 2013 - 208 Ford Fusion sedan were not for hybrid vehicles. I think the hybrid also have the same issue or have a different with the brakes of the car. It
Brake fluid leaks. Mechanic cost too much to fix. Said it might be master cylinder.

Brakes suddenly went out while vehicle was in use. Brake pedal went all the way to the floor and emergency brake did not work or secure vehicle. No dash warnings or lights showed up in advance for warning. Vehicle was towed to mechanic where it was confirmed that a part of the brake line had ruptured on the passenger side and would not allow fluid to be retained. Repair Cost was paid out of pocket and owner was out of work 2 day.
Brakes failed ,hoses
While driving heard a noise and saw a warning light on the dash light up, took it in to be checked and was told the brake hoses just suddenly busted.
2014 Ford Fusion front brake line burst without warning leaving the vehicle with no braking power and low brake fluid light on.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
At 87549 miles the right front hydraulic brake hose ruptured under braking causing near complete loss of braking ability for the vehicle. The mechanic who replaced the hose said it failed at the wheel side connector fitting causing near complete loss of brake fluid in the braking system. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the hose failure. I requested the hose be saved and it is in my possession. The vehicle was not inspected by any other party.
I took my 2014 ford fusion, per a recap letter, to my local dealership on 10/11/22. I was notified today, 10/14/22, that the part ordered was DENIED by ford due to a policy to prevent dealerships from “hoarding” parts. Apparently my dealership has ordered too many brake line parts. I was told that they would retry on 10/17/22 but couldn’t guarantee it would be approved. I’m the meantime I’m without a car as my brake line is leaking and if I have to drive it’s a risk. How can parts be DENIED for a RECALL?!?!? This policy puts drivers at extreme risk of injury or death while they wait for their cars to be fixed.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the Back Over Prevention camera became inoperable. However, upon picking up the vehicle and driving, the vehicle would not exceed 40 MPH. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. Additionally, the vehicle started surging. The brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated independently. The contact was able to drive back to the dealer and parked the vehicle. The dealer completed unknown repairs on the vehicle. The contact was then able to drive to her residence without any further issues. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,152.
Brake hose broke and vehicle has only 54228 miles on it.
The right front (passenger side) brake line burst. I started the engine and felt that the brake pedal would not move. When I pressed the brake pedal a second time it went all the way to the floor. Shortly after the brake pedal pushed to the floor the low brake oil warning appeared on the dash. I then looked under the car and I could see brake fluid all over the ground. Fortunately this didn't happen a little earlier in the day when my wife was driving in Boston and on Interstate 93. The results could have been very serious! I have found many existing complaints on the internet and there is already a recall for a couple of Ford vehicles (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCMN-20V469-7118.pdf) that should be expanded to cover Ford Fusions.
2014 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-011 THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NEED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR 3-4 DAYS. THE CONSUMER UNABLE TO ATTAIN A RENTAL VEHICLE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED CALLING BACK AT LATER TIME TO HAVE THE REPAIR COMPLETED.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 55 MPH, she felt that the brake pedal was soft whenever depressed. The contact's wife pulled off the highway and parked. The contact's wife placed the vehicle in park(P) and started to pump the brake pedal and stated that the brake warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence and he examined the brake lines and observed that the front passenger’s side brake hose had ruptured. The contact replaced the brake hose with the OEM manufactured part. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,800.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving up an incline, the brake pedal was depressed when he felt a pop on his foot from the brake pedal; then without warning the brakes failed to operate as needed. The brake pedal then went to the floor. The contact then stated that he had to apply pressure while depressing the brake pedal but failed to completely stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that he exited the vehicle to check the front of the vehicle when he noticed that brake fluid was leaking from the vehicle in a puddle. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake line hose failed and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that on several occasions he heard a putting noise, and the vehicle would start to shake. The contact also stated that each time he refueled, the vehicle failed to immediately restart. The contact would then rev the engine for the vehicle to accelerate then the RPM would decrease and the vehicle would lose motive power and stall. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he performed a diagnostic test on the vehicle and determined that the canister purge valve solenoid had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
Front brake line failed and lost brakes while pulling in to garage causing petal to go down to floor. Contacted Ford dealer and was told that only 2015 on up were covered by recall. this is a life safety issue that needs to be fixed. I replaced both front brake lines on my own.
The car had been driven about 5 minutes and then there was a complete loss of brakes. Because the vehicle is a PHEV there was regen braking to help slow the vehicle and get it off the road. We towed the vehicle to a Ford dealer where it took 5 weeks for them to determine the problem and fix. The dealer said it required a new wiring harness and charged approx $550. It is very disturbing that a wiring harness failure (electrical) should cause a complete loss of braking control — something that should have mechanical backup safety mechanisms.
Brake hose ruptured. It was confirmed and already replaced by an independent service center so it is not available for inspection. My safety and others’ safety was put at risk with the inability to stop the vehicle in motion as expected. There were no warning messages/lamps/symptoms prior to failure or after failure.
The front passenger side brake hose failed without warning. When I stepped on the brake the pedal went down to the floor. The fluid was leaking out, but was able to make it home. I informed the dealer, but they indicated there was no recall in place. I had the hose replaced. About 6 months later the Front Driver side brake hose failed in the same way. Again the brake pedal went down to the floor and was able to make it home. Again looked for any recall notice and found none. I had the hose replaced.
This recall has already been reported; however, IT IS NOT safe to drive my vehicle and I would not recommend anyone else driving theirs. My car stalled on my as I was in traffic, this could have ended up in a very bad situation. I need someone to contact me ASAP [XXX]. Your recall notice states Ford HAS NOT issued instructions to not drive. You all have a lawsuit waiting to happen. People should NOT BE driving their cars. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

On 26 May 2022 while approaching interstate exit in a 2014 Ford Fusion SE (1.5 L ecoboost engine) brakes were applied to slow vehicle but pedal went to floor and the vehicle barely stopped in time at the traffic light where the exit merged onto a main thoroughfare. Slowly drove the approximately 2 miles to house. Once there, tested the brakes and the pedal went to the floor again. Upon pumping the pedal a sharp sound emanated from the passenger side front wheel well. Brake fluid puddled on the ground and the brake fluid reservoir was empty. The brake line ruptured close to the wheel. Vehicle mileage is 71,895 miles.

Brake lights stay on all the time. Brakes function, but continuous illumination drains the battery.
Brake lights stay on and do not turn off car will not accelerate past 50 MPH received email about recall 22V011
The brake lights remain constantly on. The cruise control cannot be activated. I can shift from "P" into "N" and "D" without stepping on the brake pedal. I suspected that the brake switch was bad, so I loosened the connected to turn off the brake lights after parking at my home. But if I try to drive the vehicle while the connector was loose, I cannot shift out from "P", even when I am stepping on the brake pedal. I have to reattach the connector every day to drive.
I do not personally own vehicle, this vehicle is owned by my Government agency employer and vehicle is assigned to me along with responsibility for maintenance and repairs. 12/23/2019 brake pedal went all the way to floor while exiting a parking space. Shortly thereafter, brake system warning light illuminated, along with low brake fluid message and a warning chime. Was able to safely re-park vehicle with almost no system pressure remaining. Had vehicle towed to repair facility, culprit was rotted and ruptured L/F hose to caliper. 12/22/2021, almost exactly 2 years to the day the exact same events unfolded. Again had vehicle towed due to almost no remaining system pressure, and again problem is a rotted and ruptured L/F hose to caliper. This is a serious and now apparently recurring safety issue. Both times I was fortunate that failure occurred while exiting a parking space in areas with minimal traffic, and was able to safely re-park vehicle. Next time I may not be so fortunate.
Right and left front rubber/flexible brake line failure. Lines split unexpectedly with no indication of rupture caused by road hazard and brakes failed.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon exiting the vehicle, he noticed pieces of plastic bushings on the floorboard. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 34,600.
UNDER MODERATE BRAKING, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR - RED BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD LITTLE TO NO BRAKING. VEHICLE WAS ON 25MPH NEIGHBORHOOD STREET - HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY FOR A DOG. WAS ONLY 1/4 MILE FROM HOME AND WAS ABLE TO GET INTO GARAGE. FOUND A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID FROM LEFT FRONT. REMOVED WHEEL AND FOUND LEFT FRONT BRAKE LINE RUPTURED NEAR FITTING CRIMP OPPOSITE END FROM CALIPER..
HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE SPLIT UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. CAUSING ALL FLUID TO BE LOST
BRAKE PEDAL SINKING TO THE FLOOR THIS CAUSED MY WIFE TO BACK INTO ANOTHER CAR AND DAMAGE BOTH CARS. NOW THE PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS FLASHING AND ACTING UP. HAD TOWED TO SHOP. I'VE SEEN RECALLS COMING OUT ON THIS ISSUE HOPING FORD IS GOING TO COVER THIS EXPENSIVE ISSUE. HAS CAUSED ONE ACCIDENT ALREADY. PLEASE CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS.*DT*AS
BRAKE PEDAL ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED SINKING TO THE FLOOR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS ARE GOOD NO LEAKS AND REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER. PEDAL STILL SINKS TO THE FLOOR WHEN BRAKING. DANGERS. CALLED DEALER ABOUT RECALLS. THEY SAID IS NONE.
I WAS LEAVING MY HOME AND THE BRAKES FAILED. WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKES THE TENSION GAVE WAY AND THE PEDAL JUST SANK TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. THERE WAS A SIMILAR RECALL FOR 2010 FORD FUSIONS. NOW THE BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE AT ALL THEY CAN BE PUSHED WITH 0 EFFORT TO THE FLOOR AND DO NOT DO ANYTHING. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 15, 2019, I HAD A RECALL SERVICE CONDUCTED ON MY CAR TO COMPLY WITH FORD RECALL 19S16. HOWEVER, THE RECALL IS STILL OPEN FOR MY VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE. AS A US SERVICE MEMBER STATIONED OVERSEAS, I WILL NEED TO SHOW PROOF THAT I HAVE COMPLIED WITH THIS RECALL BEFORE I CAN SHIP THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE USA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED FORWARD, CRASHED THROUGH A FENCE, DROVE THROUGH A NEARBY YARD, AND STRUCK ANOTHER FENCE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE ARMS, LEGS, HEAD, AND BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT SIMILAR SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT IT WOULD COAST INTO A STOP INSTEAD OF STOPPING AS EXPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
SEPTEMBER 2018 AT 75382 MILES FRONT LEFT BREAK HOSE RUPTURED CAUSING COMPLETE BREAK FAILURE IN JUNE 2019 AT 84143 MILES RIGHT SIDE BREAK HOSE FAILURE, CAUSING COMPLETE BREAK FAILURE. EACH TIME WAS THE SAME I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT PULLED UP TO THE EXIT AND WHILE HOLDING FOOT ON BREAK PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR AND HAD NO BREAKS. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. BOTH INSTANCES CAR LOST ALL BREAK FLUID . I ASKED FOR THE HOSE THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED HOSE IS RUPTURED.
LEAVING HOME IN THE MORNING, CAR STARTED AND RAN NORMALLY, 1 BLOCK LATER, PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD TO REALLY STAND ON IT TO STOP THE CAR. BRAKE SYSTEM, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES ALL ACTIVATED. PARKING BRAKE LOCKED UP AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. REPLACED PARKING BRAKE SWITCH, REAR BRAKE PADS, AND RODENT-CHEWED WIRING. WORKED FINE FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THEN, DRIVING CLOSE TO HOME ABOUT 35 MPH, BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. STANDING ON BRAKE PEDAL STOPPED CAR IN (ESTIMATED) DOUBLE NORMAL DISTANCE. ALL BRAKE-RELATED WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES ACTIVATED, PLUS SERVICE REAR PARK ASSIST MESSAGE. PARKING BRAKE LOCKED UP. TOWED TO DEALER. SERVICE WRITER SAW LIGHTS AND MESSAGES, BUT TECHS LATER COULDN'T FIND MALFUNCTION, NO CODES SET. DEALERSHIP MADE NO REPAIRS, SENT ME HOME WITH A CAR I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. WHEN ASKED IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, THEY PRETENDED NOT TO KNOW, AND DIDN'T PLAN TO CONTACT FORD ABOUT IT. IN MY OPINION, A SOFTWARE OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE CAR TO LOSE BRAKING IS A PRETTY SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. ACCORDING TO NTHSA DATABASE AND INTERNET FORUMS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. AT THE VERY LEAST, GOOD-FAITH BUYERS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT HOLDING THE BAG.
PARKING BRAKE CAME ON WITHOUT BEING TOUCHED BY THE DRIVER. LOCKED THE REAR WHEELS. VERY DANGEROUS. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED ON A SUBURBAN STREET, WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. AFTER THE EVENT, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE WE HAVE ALL THE SERVICE WORK DONE. FORD FOUND NO ERROR CODES IN COMPUTER AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON TEST DRIVES, AND AS A RESULT SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX THE CAR. IF THIS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS VEHICLE DEFECT COULD RESULT IN FATALITIES. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR INTO MY DRIVEWAY. IT IS A SHARED DRIVEWAY FOR A TOWNHOUSE SET. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS I PULLED IN. I WAS GOING SLOWLY IN THE DRIVE WAY. I TURNED THE WHEEL TO PARK THE CAR. I HAD THE BRAKE FIRMLY DEPRESSED. THE CAR DID NOT STOP. I ENDED UP SLOWLY GOING INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. I HAD THE BRAKE PRESSED DOWN. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS. MY FOOT IS ALSO NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO HAVE PUSHED BOTH DOWN AT THE SAME TIME. THE ONLY WAY I COULD STOP WAS TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. IT CAME TO A JERKING STOP, BUT DID NOT CONTINUE THE FORWARD MOTION.
FRONT BRAKE HOSES RUPTURED 3 MONTHS APART. LEFT FAILED FIRST. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE PEDAL GAVE WAY AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR. RIGHT FAILED TODAY. WHILE STOPPED IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU LINE, THE PEDAL GAVE WAY AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR.
VACUUM PUMP FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS CAUSED LOSS OF POWER BRAKES. NEARLY CRASHED AT INTERSECTION AS I WAS FORCED TO GO THROUGH A RED LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF BRAKES. UPON DISASSEMBLY OF VACUUM PUMP I FOUND THAT THE DRIVER FOR THE VACUUM PUMP WAS BROKEN OFF IN THE CAMSHAFT AND THE PUMP WAS SEIZED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE THAT IF MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER HAD BEEN DRIVING WE WOULD HAVE SURELY WRECKED. ALSO I THINK FORD WILL AVOID THIS ISSUE BASED IN THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRS. REMOVING THE BROKEN PIECE FROM THE CAMSHAFT AMOUNTED TO MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR. THE CAR WASH AS AT THE REPAIR SHOP SEVERAL WEEKS.
I WAS TRYING TO SLOW DOWN ON A SMALL STREET TO MAKE A STOP, WHEN MY BRAKES WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE WHY THEY WEREN'T WORKING AND WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP I WAS OUT INTO THE STREET AND GOT HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BY A CEMENT TRUCK. I WAS PUT AT FAULT EVEN THOUGH I ASSURED THEM THAT MY BRAKES WERE AT FAULT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN WHEN I PUMPED THEM.
I WAS TRYING TO SLOW DOWN ON A STREET GOING TOWARDS GRAND AVENUE TO MAKE A STOP, WHEN MY BRAKES WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE WHY THEY WEREN'T WORKING AND WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP I WAS OUT INTO THE STREET AND GOT HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BY A CEMENT TRUCK . I WAS PUT AT FAULT AND MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. NOW OUR INSURANCE IS GOING TO RISE SIGNIFICANTLY AND I HAVE AN ACCIDENT ON MY RECORD EVEN WHEN IT WAS NOT INTENTIONALLY MY FAULT.
BRAKES FAILED WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I REVERSE AND THE BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY SOFT. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE, AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT I MANAGED TO DO SO WITH NO DAMAGE DONE TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR. I DROVE MY 2014 FORD FUSION AWD A FEW FEET TO PARK THE CAR MAKING IT EASIER FOR TOWING TO THE RIVER TOWN FORD'S DEALERSHIP. I SAW SMOKE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR COMING FROM THE WHEEL AREA. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE TO ASSURE NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. I PRESS THE BRAKES, WHILE THE CAR WAS OFF, AND NOTICE BRAKE PRESSURE WAS BACK. I CONFIRM IT WAS STILL UNSAFE BY RESTARTING THE CAR AND THEN A LOW BRAKE FLUID INDICATOR CAME ON AND ALL BRAKE FEEL WENT LIMP TO A POINT THAT PUSHING THE PADDLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD DID NOT ENGAGE THE BRAKES, E-BRAKES I SUPPOSE WAS BEING USED AT THIS POINT. THE NEXT DAY I GET A CALL FROM THE DEALER TELLING ME THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW BRAKE HOSE AND COPPER WASHER ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR; THE INITIAL COST WAS 203, THEN WITH EACH PHONE CALL, BECAUSE I WANTED PART NUMBERS TO CHECK COST OF PARTS, THE PRICE WENT TO 340 DOLLARS FOR A BRAKE HOSE AND A COPPER WASH REPLACEMENT ON RIGHT CALIPER, BY THE WAY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER THIS COST SO NO ACCOMMODATIONS FOR A RENTAL AND ALL COST FELL ON ME THE CUSTOMER BECAUSE OF VAGUE EXTENDED WARRANTY INFORMATION. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKE HOSE WAS NOT TAMPERED WITH IT JUST DISCONNECTED/POPPED OUT FROM TOO MUCH PRESSURE. THIS HAPPENS AT 37800 PLUS MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY DIES OUT AND CLOSE TO THE MANDATORY 40K DEALERSHIP INSPECTION SERVICE. IN THE END I PAID 289.66 AFTER PULLING TEETH WITH THE CLERKS, WHO ANSWERED THE PHONES, AND ALSO CALLING THE MANUFACTURE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT FORDPART.COM WEBSITE AND COVERAGE. SUGGEST A FURTHER TESTING OF THIS BRAKE FAILURE. FORD SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS COST NOT ME FOR THEIR FAULTY PARTS.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT THE REGENERATIVE BRAKES SUDDENLY LET UP AND THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING CORRECTLY. I APPLIED FULL FORCE TO THE BRAKES AND THE CAR DID SLOW BUT NOT BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE VEHICLE COLLISION WARNING DID NOT COME ON BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY BREAKING.
YOU MAY OCCASIONALLY EXPERIENCE LOW/SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AT TIMES OF ENGAGEMENT, AFTER HITTING A BUMP, DIP, OR TURNING ON A CURVED ROAD. BRAKE PEDAL MAY BE PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE TO NO BRAKING POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AT 35 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY SOFT AND WENT TO FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES HESITATED TO RESPOND AS THE CONTACT REACHED AN INTERSECTION AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED AND THE INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYED THAT THERE WAS BRAKE FAILURE MESSAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THIS CAR ON LESS THAN ONE INCH OF SNOW, IT SLID THROUGH TURN. I WAS DRIVING WEST ON HWY 30 AT AROUND 40 M.P.H., SLOWED AND ENTERED TURNING LANE TO TURN NORTH ONTO HWY 21. WHEN I BRAKE, CAR SLID SO I APPLIED BRAKES A LITTLE FIRMER. THE ABS WERE ACTIVE AND MAKING THE BING-BING-BING NOISE THEY MAKE, BUT CAR SLID THROUGH NORTHBOUND LANE, STOPPING FINALLY WITH CAR OVER YELLOW CENTER LINE OF SOUTHBOUND HWY 21 TRAFFIC. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO CAR SITTING AT THE INTERSECTION, BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE HIT THEIR DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAVE HAD ZIMMERMAN FORD IN CEDAR RAPIDS, IA LOOK AT MY BRAKES TWICE NOW, WITH NO RESOLUTION. I EVEN REPLACED TIRES AFTER THIS EVENT AND HAD ONE OF THEIR SERVICEMEN TELL ME THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HIS FUSION. HE TOO, REPLACED THE TIRES, WHICH HAD NO EFFECT. THE BRAKES GRAB WITH FORCE WHENEVER THEY GET MOISTURE ON THEM, FROM RAIN, DEW, OR SNOW. THE DEALER HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT DON'T CARE. I FEEL I AM GOING TO DIE IN THIS CAR AND AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE IT IN ANOTHER IOWA WINTER, BUT HAVE NO CHOICE. THE TRACTION CONTROL SUCKS ALSO, THE CAR SPINS ON WET GRASS OR RAINY INTERSECTIONS, AND EVEN SHALLOW MUD PUDDLES. I FEEL THE BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL ON THESE FUSIONS REQUIRE INVESTIGATION BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE FROM THESE ISSUES. THANK YOU *TR
2014 FORD FUSION TITANIUM 2.0 TURBO 5/29/16 COMING OFF FREEWAY @ 70MPH WENT TO APPLY BRAKES AND PEDAL WAS HARD , UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN ON LOOP. I COULD HAVE CRASHED AND DIED DUE TO THIS FAILURE. FINALLY PUSHED PEDAL WITH A LOT OF EFFORT AND ABS KICKED IN TO SLOW ME DOWN BEFORE THE STOP SIGN. TOOK TO DEALER ON 5/30/16, DIAGNOSIS WAS VACUUM PUMP FAILURE, NEW PART WAS ORDERED. 7/5/16 GOT A CALL FROM DEALER SHOP MANAGER WHO BASICALLY SAID THE PART WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE MOTOR BEHIND WHERE THE PUMP SITS, CLAIMING DIRTY OIL CAUSED PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO VIEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. I COULD TELL BY SPINNING THE PUMP THAT THE BEARINGS HAD FAILED, MORE THAN LIKELY DISINTEGRATED AND THE SHAVINGS WERE SITTING INSIDE MY ENGINE. THE MANAGER ASKED THE MECHANIC IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE AND HE REPLIED YES. HE SAID HE REPLACED 3 RECENTLY WITH THE SAME ISSUE METAL SHAVINGS BEHIND PUMP. MY CAR WAS ALSO IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MOST IRRITATING THING WAS BEING BLAMED FOR THE PROBLEM, HE STATED MY ENGINE WILL FAIL AND I SHOULD TRADE IT IN WHILE I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH HIM PRIOR TO GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS BLAMED AND HE USED SCARE TACTICS TO TRY AND GET ME TO MAKE A PURCHASE. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN AT A FORD DEALER BEFORE. STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL SAYING MY CAR IS REPAIRED. THE MANGER AGREED TO REPLACE THE PUMP UNDER WARRANTY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION HYBRID. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE SENSOR LIGHT WOULD SUDDENLY ILLUMINATE AND THE ABS WAS ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE ABS COULD BE HEARD OPERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE BRAKE COMPUTER, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT THEN EXPERIENCED A CONDITION IN WHICH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS TOO SENSITIVE. WHEN SLIGHTLY PRESSING THE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WOULD ABRUPTLY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
WHILE TRAVELING SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL ON A FREEWAY, IN 10-15MPH STOP AND GO TRAFFIC......THE BRAKES FAILED ON MY ENERGI. I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES A LITTLE, GETTING BACK SOME EV CHARGE; WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT STOPPED AND WHEN I PUSHED HARDER ON THE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES FAILED......CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *JS
MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING DOWN A LOCAL ROAD (5 LANES) AND SPEED LIMIT 40 MPH GETTING INTO THE CENTER LEFT TURN LANE, THERE WERE THREE ADDITIONAL CARS IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WAS PROBABLY DOING ABOUT 15 MPH AT MOST AND BEGAN TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN SHE EXPERIENCED WHAT WE SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED IS CALLED A "HARD STOP/HARD BRAKE" - THIS IS WHEN THE ELECTRONIC BRAKES FAIL AND THE MANUAL BRAKES TAKE OVER. LUCKILY, SHE IS A VERY CAUTIOUS DRIVER AND NOT PRONE TO QUICK STOPS. THE CAR SLOWED AND FINALLY CAME TO A HALT WITHOUT HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER AFTER SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE TWICE. IT IS VERY PROBABLE THAT SHE DID NOT DEPRESS REALLY FAR DOWN NOT BEING AWARE OF HOW THE MANUAL BRAKES ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE OVER IF THE ELECTRONIC BRAKES FAIL. SHE SUBSEQUENTLY BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A LOW-GRADE CLICKING/GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHE WOULD HAVE THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP. SHE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR IMMEDIATE EXAMINATION. SHE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO ORDER A NEW ABS MODULE. THE FEAR FOR HER IS WHAT WOULD CAUSE SUCH A FAILURE SO EARLY IN THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE CAR (12,000 MILES) PLUS IF IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULE IS IT A DESIGN FLAW IN MODULE AND WILL IT CONTINUE TO HAPPY OF THE LIFESPAN OF THE CAR. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING SOUTH ON I-95 IN FLORIDA. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME, MY WIFE'S BLOUSE CAUGHT ON THE ELECTRIC EMERGENCY BRAKE LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CENTER CONSOLE AND THIS MOMENTARILY ENGAGED IT. OUR CAR SCREECHED AND LURCHED FORWARD AS THE BRAKE TRIED TO ENGAGE. WHEN SHE FINALLY DISENGAGED HER CLOTHING FROM THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER, THE CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. MIND YOU ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AT 70 MPH! FIRST, WHY WOULD THAT SWITCH BE ACTIVE WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING? UNLIKE A MANUAL EMERGENCY BRAKE OPERATED BY A LEVER, THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE GOES "FULL ON" AT ENGAGEMENT, MAKING IT PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS IF IT ACCIDENTALLY BECOMES ENGAGED WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEED. SECOND, I WAS LUCKY AS TRAFFIC WAS PRETTY LIGHT AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN NEAR TO ME, OR TAILGATING AS IS SO OFTEN THE CASE ON THE HIGHWAY, WE WOULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I MUST ADMIT I WAS SHAKEN UNTIL I FINALLY UNRAVELED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I LOVE MY FORD FUSION HYBRID AND THE TECHNOLOGY THAT'S INCLUDED IN THE CAR. THE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY BRAKE, HOWEVER, SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE ENGAGED WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. AS AN EXAMPLE, THE SEAT MEMORY SETTING BUTTONS CAN'T BE USED WHILE THE CAR IS IN GEAR. THAT SAME LIMITATION SHOULD BE PUT IN PLACE FOR THE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY BRAKE BEFORE IT CAUSES A SERIOUS ACCIDENT FOR SOMEONE. *TR
