Chrysler (FCA US LLC) expanded the affected population to include 73,712 2005-2009 RAM 2500 trucks produced at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant. With this change, Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 RAM 1500, 2005-2009 RAM 2500, 2006-2009 RAM 3500, 2007-2010 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, 2008-2010 RAM 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis, 2004-2009 Dodge Durango, 2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen, 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler, 2008-2012 Dodge Challenger, 2005-2008 Dodge Magnum, 2005-2012 Chrysler 300, 2006-2012 Dodge Charger, 2005-2011 Dodge Dakota, and 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Raider vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in AL, CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MS, SC, TX, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S43. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-7700.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler JK vehicles manufactured March 2, 2006, to August 13, 2010. The clockspring assembly may become contaminated with dust and cause the air bag circuit to fail.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud, free of charge. The recall began on December 14, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S33.

CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE (RHD) JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2007, THROUGH OCTOBER 10, 2011. SOME VEHICLES MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLIES THAT COULD EXPERIENCE A COMPROMISED AIRBAG CIRCUIT RESULTING IN AN AIRBAG LAMP ILLUMINATION, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY.
Fix: CHRYSLER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REMEDY THE VEHICLES AS NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. CHRYSLER WILL MAIL TO OWNERS AN INTERIM NOTIFICATION DURING MARCH 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Jeep Wrangler right-hand drive vehicles manufactured February 1, 2007, through October 10, 2011. The affected vehicles have airbag clockspring assemblies that could experience broken airbag circuits.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring and add a steering wheel dust shield, free of charge. The recall began on June 10, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. This recall supercedes NHTSA recall 11V-528. Chrysler's recall campaign number is M31.

The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V290000 (Air Bags) however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the clock spring was replaced. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the turn signal switches were no longer responding. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

NOTIFIED DURING JULY 2019 OF 2 RECALLS (S43 AND S33). ON 7/12/2019 S43 WAS COMPLETED. S33 PARTS WERE ORDERED. THE FIRST ETA WAS IN SEPTEMBER. THAT WAS CANCELED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER AND TO "ALL STAR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM" BUT THERE IS STILL NO DATE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A LARGE BACK ORDER LIST AND NO KNOWN DATE AS TO WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE RECALL NOTICE SAID "IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO TAKE STEPS NOW TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS." I HAVE TAKEN THESE STEPS. CHRYSLER HAS PUT IN AN PART ORDER AND CANNOT GIVE ME A DATE AS TO WHEN THIS CAN BE FIXED. THE SIZE OF THIS BACKLOG INDICATES THERE ARE MANY INSTALLATIONS NEEDED.

TAKATA RECALL, I KEEP RECEIVING CALLS REGARDING MY RECALL. MY JEEP WAS IMPORTED FROM PUERTO RICO AND THEY HAVE THE AIRBAG AND THE DEALERSHIP HERE DOES NOT HAVE ANY AIRBAGS AND COULD NOT HELP ME. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER AN YEAR FOR THE AIRBAG. LAST WEEK I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN LAKE ORION, MI AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A STATUS ON WHEN THEY WILL BE RECEIVING THESE AIRBAGS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TK HOLDINGS INC SAYING THAT I HAVE TAKATA AIRBAG INFILTRATORS IN MY VEHICLE THAT CONTAINS "PHASE-STABILIZED AMMONIUM NITRATE PROPELLANT" THAT CAN RUPTURE CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. I ONLY HAVE UNTIL DEC 27TH TO FILE A COMPLAINT, BECAUSE THEY FILED BANKRUPTCY AND WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE AFTER THAT DATE. PLEASE ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE RECALL LIST SO I CAN GET THIS FIXED. UNDERSTAND FROM THE JEEP WEB APP, FIAT CHRYSLER HAS PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG RECALL S43. BUT, I CANNOT GET A DEALER SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL SINCE FIAT CHRYSLER IS LIMITING DEALERS FROM ORDERING THE AVAILABLE PARTS. I MUST WAIT UNTIL THE DEALER USES THEIR INVENTORY BUT A NEW SHIPMENT CAN BE RECEIVED. AT THIS TIME ALL ARE MARKED FOR VEHICLES. SEEMS FIAT CHRYSLER DOE NOT THINK SAFETY IS A CONCERN AND MAY BE EVEN FIGHTING THE NHTSA ORDERED RECALL. IT'S HARD TO DETERMINE. GOTTEN ANSWERS FROM PARTS ARE STILL BEING MANUFACTORED TO IN THE WAREHOUSE WHAT A SHAME THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY IS HELD IN SUCH A LOW REGUARD.
TAKATARECALL ON 10/24/2014 I TOOK MY JEEP WRANGLER TO LANDMARK DODGE TO BE WORKED ON DO TO MY JEEP AIR BAG DASH LIGHT HAVE BEEN ON FOR TWO WEEKS. I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAG STEERING RACK AND PINIONS SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACE THE COST WOULD BE $905.57 CASH I PAID.
LAST YEAR (2016) I HAD A PIECE OF PLASTIC (LOOKS LIKE TAPE) COMING OUT BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND STEERING COLUMN WHILE DRIVING ON OUR LOCAL STREET. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS WIRES AT FIRST. THIS WIRE 'TAPE' EVENTUALLY BROKE WHICH MEANS YOU DON'T HAVE A WORKING AIRBAG, HORN, ETC. BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE LAST FALL (2016) AND WAS TOLD THE CLOCK SPRING CAUSED THIS AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. PUT THE JEEP IN THE GARAGE FOR THE WINTER AND TODAY (3/2/2017) CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. AFTER GIVING THEM THE VIN # I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL DIDN'T APPLY TO MY JEEP WRANGLER. BTW IT ONLY HAD 40,920 MILES ON IT!

AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND CHIMES. LIGHT GOES OUT DURING TURNS, BUT RE-ILLUMINATES ONCE STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHTENED BACK OUT. PROBLEM IS CHRONIC. I UNDERSTAND JEEP HAS A RECALL ON 2007 JEEPS FOR SAME ISSUE AND RHD VERSIONS FOR LATER YEARS.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER THE CLOCKSRPING MALFUNCTIONED AND BROKE WHILE GOING AROUND A TURN ON MY NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND A SMALL RIBBON CAME OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS ALSO DISABLED MY HORN. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE ASKED ABOUT A RECALL ON THIS PART BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A COMMON ISSUE. I LOOKED AND SAW THAT THERE IN FACT WAS A RECALL ON THE RIGHT HANDED VEHICLES FOR 2008 BUT NOT LEFT HANDED DRIVE VEHICLES AS WELL AS 2007 JEEPS HAD THE RECALL. I AM HOPEFUL THAT THIS CAN ALSO BE RECALLED IN 2008 LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES AS IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD GO BAD UNLESS YOUR VEHICLE IS LEFT IN THE RAIN DUST OR DIRTY ENVIRONMENTS, WHICH IS NOT HOW MY JEEP IS EVER STORED. I AM HAPPY THAT I WAS ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY!

THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OFF ROAD ON SAND AND WHILE TURNING. DEALER INDICATED THE FIX WAS GOING TO COST OVER $500 DOLLARS. THEY INDICATED SOME FAULTY WIRING.

TOOK TO DEALERS AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE CLOCK-SPRING WIRING HARNESS TO CURE PROBLEM. NOT IN WARRENTY PERIOD AND WHEN CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT COST AS IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. I THEREFORE HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID TO KEEP INVOICE AS IT MAY LATER BE A SAFETY RECALL. IT SHOULD BE AS I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUALLY TURNS ON AND OFF IN MY JEEP. THIS IS ACCOMPANIED WITH A CONTINUOUS WARNING PING THAT GOES OFF WHEN YOU ARE ALMOST OUT OF GAS OR NEED SOMETHING CHECKED ASAP. THIS IS PROBABLY BECAUSE THE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. 2007 JEEPS HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS AND IT IS A FAULTY COIL SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. LOOKING ON ANY FORUM SITE OR EVEN THIS ONE AND YOU WILL SEE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. JEEP TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THIS FIXED UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED. CONSIDERING MY JEEP AND MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS OCCUR WELL BEFORE 100K MILES THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PART THAT THEY ARE PUTTING INTO THE CARS.

WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THE LHD 2008 WRANGLERS WHEN THERE IS FOR THE RHD AND 2007 LHD WRANGLERS. THE SAME CLOCK SPRINGS ARE USED IN ALL THESE VEHICLES AND THEY ARE FAULTY ACROSS THE BOARD. FAULTY CLOCKSPRING CAUSING HORN TO NOT WORK AND AIRBAG LIGHT TO GO ON. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK IN EVENT OF ACCIDENT.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE SPRING. THE AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE DURING AN ACCIDENT.
JULY 10, 2015: DRIVING TO WORK APPROXIMATELY 8:15 AM CST. CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY AND I FELT THE BREAKS WERE NOT SLOWING THE VEHICLE DOWN ENOUGH TO AVOID IMPACT. WITH A VEHICLE ON MY RIGHT, MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO GO LEFT. I NEVER SAW THE TRUCK IN THE ONCOMING LANE AND HIT HEAD ON. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IT DID DEPLOY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. THE UPPER BODY PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME AND I SLAMMED FACE FIRST INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I SUFFERED A BROKEN AND DISLOCATED WRIST THAT REQUIRED SURGERY, SEVERE BRUISING OF FACE, ARMS, CHEST, HIPS AND LEGS. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.

AS A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS CONCERNED AND CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. UNFORTUNATELY, NOTHING FOR MY VIN# IS COMING UP. SO THAT MEANS I AM ON MY OWN IN REPAIRING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO THAT MEANS I AM TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. DEALERSHIP PARTS DEPARTMENT HAS THEM IN STOCK, BUT THEY COST $270 ONLY IN PARTS. NOT INCLUDING LABOR TO INSTALL THE CLOCK SPRING. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A VERY KNOWN ISSUE IN MOST NEWER JEEP JK'S. UPON EXITING THE PARKING LOT OF MY EMPLOYER, THE AIRBAG SIGNAL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SOUNDED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A NEARBY PARKING SPOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF IN HOPES OF RESETTING THE ALARM. THIS DID NOT WORK AND THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED EVER SINCE. AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I CAME ACROSS FORUMS FOR THE CLOCK SPRING FAILURE, HOWEVER, MY HORN AND TURN SIGNALS WORK PROPERLY AND THE AIRBAG FUSES ARE STILL FUNCTIONAL. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC, HOWEVER, NO CODES WERE GIVEN AND HE SAID "WELL, WE SHOULD START WITH THE CLOCK SPRING AND SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM." I CALLED CHRYSLER/JEEP IN HOPES OF ATTAINING SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. TO MY DISMAY, THE WOMAN ON THE OTHER LINE INFORMED MY THAT I WAS OVER MY WARRANTY MILEAGE AND "NOTHING CAN REALLY BE DONE." I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO CLOCK SPRINGS IN THE 2007 WRANGLER AND RECENTLY THE SECOND REPLACED CLOCK SPRING IN THE 2008 WRANGLER WENT OUT. THIS IS A TOTAL OF 4 CLOCK SPRING FAILURES IN TWO JEEPS. I HAD RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE 2007 WRANGLER AND WAS REIMBURSED. BUT NOT THE 2008 WRANGLER. CHRYSLER DID GIVE ME A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT ON THE FIRST CLOCK SPRING THAT FAILED IN THE 2008. ON THIS SECOND ONE, THEY ARE SAYING THEY WILL OFFER ME ANOTHER REIMBURSEMENT BUT AGAIN ONLY PARTIAL. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TO CONFIRM IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING. I THEN TOOK MY WRANGLER TO THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE RECALL AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST SO IT WASN'T CONSIDERED AFFECTED. DESPITE IT BEING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OTHER WRANGLERS WERE RECALLED FOR, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULDN'T COVER THE REPAIRS AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $600 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO REPLACE IT. MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 65,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY 2008 AND LATER WRANGLERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. DEALER TOLD ME THE CLOCK SPRING WAS LIKELY FAULTY AND WANTED NEARLY $1,000 TO FIX IT. I READ ONLINE FORUMS WHERE THE RIGHT-HAND DRIVE JEEPS HAD A RECALL ON THE CLOCK SPRING FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. ALSO READ MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS THAT THE ISSUE IS PREVALENT ON LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEPS. I REMOVED MY CLOCK SPRING AND TESTED IT AND FOUND ONE CIRCUIT WAS SHORTING OUT DUE TO WEAR ON THE RIBBON WIRE WHERE THE RIBBON CONTACTS THE PLASTIC HOUSING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING DESIGN AND IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT MAY PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN A CRASH AND THE ONLY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OPTION IS TO PUT A NEW CLOCK SPRING BACK IN THAT HAS THE SAME DESIGN FLAW AS THE ORIGINAL. I REPLACED MY CLOCK SPRING WITH A NEW OEM UNIT BUT BASED ON THE HISTORICAL DATA, THE REPLACEMENT CLOCK SPRING IS NOT LIKELY TO LAST OR BE RELIABLE. *TR

THE HORN STOPPED WORKING AND THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED. IN MY CASE THE FAILURE OF HORN AND AIRBAG OCCURS ALWAYS AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD LEAD TO DEATH IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE FIXED BUT THE DEALER ESTIMATES $500 TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR A PERIOD OF APPRX. 10 DAYS THEN STAYED ON CONSTANTLY. WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE JEEP DEALER SAYS IT IS A PROBLEM WITH A CLOCK SPRING SENSOR IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE JEEP IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT WOULD MOST LIKELY REOCCUR. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE JEEP AND PAY AGAIN WHEN THE PART WENT BAD AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MANY OTHER 2008 JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
CLOCK SPRING FAILURE AT 35,000 REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, FAILED AGAIN AT 45,000. THE DEALER WANTS $370 TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK NOW. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT EVERY 10,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.

UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THE SYSTEM IS NON-FUNCTIONAL AND LEAVES THE PASSENGERS WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF THE AIR BAGS. *TR
