Owner Complaints (379)
Your 2013 Explorer had a recall repair for rear suspension toe links and ball joints completed three times between recalls, with the most recent service in 2022. A second Ford dealership recently found significant frame corrosion and structural damage that they believe resulted from incomplete recall work, and they've requested Ford reopen the case and replace the frame. Ford has refused to authorize further repairs despite the documented corrosion damage, leaving your vehicle unsafe to drive. This issue may require a complete frame replacement or comprehensive structural repair to address the underlying corrosion from the original suspension problem.

Both the left and right pillars on your vehicle have detached. Ford has issued a recall for this issue, but despite visiting dealerships in San Bruno and Fullerton, you've been unable to get the repair completed — you were told parts would be available in late 2024, but as of 2026 they still haven't been installed. The fix will involve Ford replacing both the left and right structural pillars under the recall program.

Your driver's side A-pillar trim (the vertical piece between your windshield and door) blew off while driving at highway speed, and you weren't able to recover it. When you took your vehicle to the dealer, they found the passenger's side trim was also loose and temporarily taped it. There's an open recall (24V031000) for this issue, but replacement parts aren't yet available, and you feel the manufacturer is taking too long to make them available.

Ford issued a recall to fix this, but the replacement part hasn't been available yet, and you've had to wait longer than expected. The fix will involve replacing the A-pillar trim piece and reattaching it properly to the vehicle frame.

Your 2013 Ford Explorer has a safety recall (24V031000) for the A-pillar trim on the passenger's side, but Ford hasn't made the replacement part available yet. While driving at 60 MPH, the passenger-side A-pillar trim detached from your vehicle, and the dealer temporarily fixed it with black tape. You've also noticed the seal around the front passenger windshield is deteriorating and water is occasionally leaking inside. Ford told you the windshield seal and water leak are symptoms of the recall issue but won't cover them under the recall repair. The fix will involve replacing the A-pillar trim piece and resealing the windshield area once Ford makes the recall parts available.

Your windshield trim has come loose, with the lining pushed outward, partially missing, and detached from the frame. You're concerned the windshield itself could loosen or fall out because of this trim failure. Ford has issued a recall (Campaign 24V031000) for this issue. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the windshield trim and resealing the windshield to the frame.

Crossroads Ford in Wake Forest NC service told me that it can take up to 30-60 days to get the parts for my 2013 Ford. I am disabled and I need my vehicle to be safe for doctor visits. The A-Pillar trim pieces on both sides of the windshield began coming apart while driving on the highway, luckily, a piece did not impact other vehicles behind me. I went to the dealer and they removed both trim pieces several months ago and they have not followed up to install the new parts. They say they are not available. The first notification I received from Ford by mail is dated February 2024 (more than 1.5 years ago). The vehicle looks like crap and Ford is not fulfilling their obligation. Perhaps NHTSA can exert enough pressure to force them to accomplish the repairs. Are they waiting for someone to get hurt or die from flying trim debris before they act? Ford can and has to make the parts and make them available to address their flawed product. Thank you.

See attached document for complaint. We received this recall letter dated February 24, 2024 concerning a recall on our 2013 Ford Explorer Apillar applique t rim. We have contacted our local Ford Motor dealership numerous times concerning this situation with our vehicle, with no satisfaction. The trim came off last year and nothing has been resolved about the problem. The dates that we contacted our local dealership was: 7 /31/24, 9/20/24, 10/18/24, 12/5/24 and 1/13/25. The only response we receive is that our name is on the list for the parts. Apparently, Ford Motor Company has dropped the ball on their responsibility for the safety of their vehicles. There are numerous recalls of Ford vehicles, and it makes us wonder if we can trust a Ford vehicle in the future.

Ford issued a recall notice in Feb 2024 concerning the exterior A-pillar applique trim clip. This large piece of hard plastic separated from my windshield on an interstate while the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and the loose trim was a hazard to the vehicles behind me. It is unacceptable that I cannot have this replaced and the other side repaired more than one year after the recall. This is a safety issue to other vehicles on the road.

Driving 65 mph. 4 passengers. Pillar trim came off and slammed into window. Caused us to veer into another lane almost hitting another vehicle. Passenger side did this in 2023. My husband had to order part and fix it. Right after fix, a recall was issued. Called 5 times in 2024 for recall fix. Was told parts not available. While going to Fort Lauderdale cruise port January 25, 2025, the Driver’s side came off almost causing a crash collision that would have killed us all. Cannot get any shop to fix and was told to keep driving the vehicle. The rubber/part hanging from Explorer.

While driving on highway, I started hearing a humming/vibration sound on the right side around the windshield. When we stopped, I noticed the trim molding around my windshield (passenger side) had flown off while driving. When we got back on the road we no longer heard the humming/vibration sound so it seems that the sound was coming from windshield trim molding. As of now, I have not received any notification of it hitting another vehicle so hopefully it did not.
While driving down a major highway, the trim/molding on the passenger side of the windshield flew off. The underlying bracket is still attached to the vehicle. The flying debris could cause other drivers to swerve to avoid the debris and potentially causing an accident. A local Ford dealership said there is not a recall for this issue. I found an article in USA Today that states several others who own 2011-2019 Explorers have had this same issue. There were no warnings that this piece was going to fail. Since there is not a recall I will be forced to purchase and repair my own vehicle.
The windshield trim panel on my 2013 Ford Explorer detached and flew off the vehicle without warning while I was driving on the highway . If the detached piece hit another motorist it could cause harm. This vehicle is up to date on it's regular maintenance and no warning was given for the part.
The passenger side front windshield molding blew off during highway driving and almost hit the car traveling behind.
Driver-side A-pillar trim piece broke and partially detached from vehicle while driving on an interstate (appx 70mph). Initially, one small and quick pop noise was heard, but the sound came from outside and it was assumed it was road debris. Approximately 15 seconds later, the left A-pillar trim piece suddenly partially detached from the body of the car in such a fashion that the bottom clip was broken, but still attached only by a weak bond to the rubber seal beneath the trim piece and the top of the trim piece was sticking away from the vehicle by approximately six to eight inches. We immediately pulled off to the side of the interstate and the A-pillar trim piece was debonded from the rubber seal by a gentle pull. Had this weak bond with the rubber seal not been there, the entire A-pillar trim piece could have easily completely detached and become a hazard to other vehicles traveling on the interstate, potentially flying off and hitting another vehicle or puncturing a tire. There were no previous signs of wear, damage, or malfunction to the A-pillar trim piece. This incident is not reproducible, and was not inspected by any outside party. The broken A-pillar trim piece and pictures of the failed attachments are available for inspection upon request.

Was driving on the highway at normal speed and the windshield trim on the drivers side flew off.
Windshield Trim Panel Detachment. Driver side panel detached while driving app 60 mph on the highway. Began with rubber underneath plastic panel breaking off and flying away followed by the panel flying off in two pieces and hitting the vehicle behind me before shattering on the roadway.
When I first purchased vehicle noticed passenger side windshield frame cracked, so I asked dealer to repair which they did. 2 weeks later driving on the freeway at 70 mph the piece flew off. Luckily I was in the lane next to exit and no cars were hit. I then purchased the kit to replace the one lost and same thing happened again but this time on a side road going 45-50 mph. I hope this gets taken care of by Ford because it is getting to be costly!!
Side pillar flew off while driving
The trim on the front windshield blows off constantly at highway speeds. I’ve had this car for a little over a year now and we’ve already replaced it four different times. Every time, it stays on about a month before it detaches and blows off again. The last time, it just barely missed the car behind me. I haven’t replaced it since then because I am terrified the next time it happens, a motorcyclist will be behind me and it could hit them and cause a fatal accident. This is a SERIOUS issue that needs addressed! I should not be scared to drive my car over 45 MPH for fear of causing a serious accident! On top of that, not replacing it means it now leaks into my car when it rains. I love my explorer but the trim on it is absolute garbage..
Vehicle A pillar flew off while driving on the highway and almost hit a vehicle behind me.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the passenger’s side window trim panel detached from the vehicle, and moments later the front driver’s side window trim panel detached. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 88,345.
Over several months at highway speeds the windshield trim on left and right of the windshield flew off. Appeared to be meagerly attached with clips and Velcro strips. These two strips are connected to the forward roof pylons, exposing the weather seals and allowing water to leak into the interior
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the trim panel of the front windshield detached from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage 108,000. The VIN was not available.
The driver-side outer windshield trim moulding panel flew off of my vehicle while I was driving at highway speed. Upon inspection, I discovered the passenger-side panel is loose, as well, and could detach at any time.
Windshield Trim on right side passenger came off while driving on the freeway luckily no was behind at the time to avoid further collision
On September 2, 2021, I was driving with my young son in the car. I had to pick him up from daycare due to severe weather(High winds and tornado warning in effect). I heard something hit my window, then my sons window, while driving 55 mph on the highway. I looked in the rearview and could'nt tell what it was. I dropped my son off at home with my mother and then noticed the entire A Pilar was missing on my 2013 Ford Explorer. I was shocked to say the least. I waited a few months to get this repair complete due to money restraints. Within those few months I noticed many other vehicles similar to mine by make and model were missing the same piece. Which I thought could no way be just a coincidence. I finally decided to get this eye sore fixed before it caused any more damage to my vehicle. I called my local body shop and they said that piece needs to be replaced by an auto glass shop. So then I thought, this is going to be expensive. I called my local auto body shop. Found out it would be $300 to replace both A pillars because you cant just have one. You need the pair. So I paid that and now that I know this is a known issue with my model vehicle I would expect more investigation or some sort of reimbursement for this.
Windshield trim broke off on right side at highway speed on interstate 78 in PA. I'm not aware of it had hit another vehicle or not, heard the noise when it flew off but didn't know what it was until I got home and seen the missing piece.
While I was driving the passenger side panel started to fly off. I pulled over to the side of the road and secured it. My husband placed black tape on it to hold it down until it gets repaired.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 70 MPH, the windshield trim panel detached from the windshield. The contact’s husband veered to the side of the road momentarily. The contact’s husband was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the windshield trim panel was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the windshield trim panel on two different occasions. However, the failure persisted. The contact stated that her husband taped the windshield trim panel to the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in the recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000. The VIN was not available.
In October of 2018 while driving on the Interstate, I heard a noise in the area of the passenger windshield. I slowed down as I looked at the windshield and the pillar trim came loose and flew off the car. Fortunately, there was no one behind me and it went into the ditch at the side of the highway. I pulled off as soon as I could and checked the driver side trim, it seemed to be loose as well. I was able to secure it and went to my local dealership where they ordered replacement parts. The repair was $506.54. The same thing happened in December of 2021. So now I have paid twice to have this repair made which, in my opinion, should be a recall. I believe a consumer has a reasonable expectation that parts should remain on the vehicle. Yes, anyone could be hit and harmed by flying car parts. The problem was inspected and repaired by the Don Vance Ford Dealership (both times). There was no warning other that a rattling noise as the pieces came loose.
While driving on the highway, the windshield driver's side upper pillar molding detached and flew off hitting the side of the rear of my vehicle. I was unaware of what had happened in the moment but was just knew there was a loud bang as if some type of debris hit my vehicle. I later noticed the lower molding had been damaged as well but was still attached to the vehicle. My safety was at risk in that I was startled by the bang and others could have been harmed by the flying trim. A call to the dealer confirmed there were issues with the trim piece but it was not under warranty and no recalls had been issued at the time. It was not physically inspected by anyone at the time. Due to cost, I ordered and installed a replacement upper trim piece but the lower trim remains damaged. No warnings or symptoms were present. It appears the passenger side remains in tact however does not seem as secure as it should.
Driving down the road and the driver's side windshield trim detached and flew off into traffic at highway speed. The shock of it flying off and into traffic makes it a safety risk. Repair shop person informed me it was a common issue. There was no message indication it was going to detach. Replacement was $200.
The trim piece on the windshield post along the side of the windshield fell off while traveling on a highway. It flew into the air and may have struck another vehicle. We replaced that piece on the drivers side of our car but a few months ago the trim on the passenger side flew off while traveling. This causes a safety problem to other drivers and could cause an accident. The first piece of trim was replaced. The problem has not been reviewed by the manufacturer, police or a insurance representative. There was no warning that this problem was about to occur.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side windshield trim detached. Additionally, the driver's side door handle had also detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,000.
I've had to replace the windshield trim panel piece three times because they keep flying off.
Rubber weatherstripping around windshield glass is coming off and hitting the windshield. I had the car inspected by Safelite Auto Glass and they said the windshield needs to come out so they can replace all the surrounding parts that are coming off and they will also have to replace the windshield, since it will probably break when they take it out. It will cost $759.67 to repair. Insurance will only cover it if there is a chip in the windshield the size of a dollar bill. I understand you are already investigating this problem and I need to know if you are going to recall my car before something worse happens. I don't want to have an accident because windshield parts are flying off my car and hitting others.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, there was a loud sound outside the vehicle, and an airborne object was seen on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The contact stated it was later discovered that the driver’s side front windshield trim panel had detached from the vehicle. The contact purchased the replacement part from the dealer and the dealer replaced the part. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Drivers side windshield trim panel detached and flew off which driving.
MY WINDSHIELD TRIM ON BOTH SIDES OF MY WINDSHIELD KEEP FLYING OFF!!!! FORD DEALERS SAY THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BUT YET I DRIVE AROUND TOWN AND SEE PLENTY OF FORD EXPLORERS WITH THEM MISSING!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS. IVE BOUGHT REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT WILL NOT EVEN STAY ON!!
Three times, we have had to replace the front windshield pillar trim…twice is flew off during driving on the Interstate. It seems the weatherstripping peels back first and started flapping in the wind, and then the pillar trim rips off.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that rainwater was leaking into the cabin of the vehicle from the passenger’s and driver’s side third-row roof seat belts anchors to the seat belts, and onto the floor of the rear of the vehicle. The contact placed a blanket on the folded third-row seats and the trunk floor; upon returning to the vehicle, the blanket was soaking wet. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I recently had a deeply concerning issue occur with my 2013 Ford Explorer. While I was driving on the freeway my passenger side windshield trim flew off my car (No previous damage to the trim, it was not lifting before the incident).... almost hitting the vehicle behind me. In my eyes this should be a safety concern for the company and replaced by the manufacturer for the safety of their consumers (I reached out to Ford corporate, but they said nothing could be done). This is dangerous for the people driving around vehicles having this issue as a large piece of windshield trim can hit their windshield going 60 mph on a freeway or cause someone to swerve to not get hit by a flying object on the freeway. Upon reading up on the issue this is not uncommon so something should be done before someone is harmed.
Water entering the body of the vehicle through the third row seatbelt opening. Fills spare tire wheel.
Front windshield trim has flown off on the highway on three separate occasions.
My body seams sealer next to the lift gate hinge is cracked ans leaks water into rear of car and mold grew on carpet. Call all local dealers and body shops. None know how to fix

The contact stated approximately 6 months later, she started to smell a moldy odor and the leak was much larger. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Passenger door ajar warning signal stays on even when the door is shut which is causing all my lights to stay on and my car not locking because the door is saying it’s ajar when it is not.
DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD A-PILLAR MOLDING FLEW OFF, I BELIEVE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT NO TRUE WAY TO KNOW WHEN. THE INNER PILLAR MOLDING APPEARS TO BE CRACKED ON A FEW PLACES AS WELL.
THE SEALS FOR THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR FAIL CAUSING WATER TO LEAK INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND DOWN THE BACK SEAT BELTS AND POOLING IN THE SPARE TIRE AREA OF THE TRUNK. THIS ALSO CAUSES MILDEW AND MOLD IN THE CARPETING.
THE DRIVER CAR DOOR LATCH BROKE OFF AND DRIVER DOOR DOESN'T CLOSE PROPERLY. THE DOOR FLYS OPEN WHILE IN MOTION ESPECIALLY ON TURNS AND I HAVE TO HOLD IT CLOSED WITH ONE HAND WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE WITH MY ONLY OTHER HAND. CANNOT GET IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE! I HAVE TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE PASSENGER OR BACK SEAT TO PUSH THE DOOR FULLY OPEN SO I CAN GET IN TO DRIVE. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOOR CAN OPEN WHILE IN MOTION. FORD SAID THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED 7/2020 AND REFUSES TO FIX MY CAR DOOR HANDLE, VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I WANT TO SELL THIS VEHICLE AND THE NEW OWNER WILL THEN BE IN DANGER HOWEVER FORD REFUSES TO COVER THIS DEFECT WITH THEIR DOOR HANDLES THAT ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON IT. PLEASE HELP ME MAKE OTHERS AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ANY NEW CAR OWNERS WHO WILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR FORD EXPLORER AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT AND COVER THE EXPENSE TO FIX WHEN IT WAS PART OF A RECALL THAT 'EXPIRED'. I'M SCARED I MAY FLY OUT OF THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING AND GET HURT OR RUN OVER BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS DOOR WON'T CLOSE SECURELY.

INTERIOR DRIVER DOOR HANDLE DOES NOT RETURN TO THE RECESSED (PARKED) POSITION. THIS SAME DEFECT IS A RECALL ON FORD FUSIONS AND SOME OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES; WHY NOT ON THIS FORD EXPLORER? COST TO REPAIR AT DEALER AROUND $150.00. WORKED FINE FOR 7 YEARS. (SPRING INSIDE DOOR IS EITHER BROKEN OR OFF ITS ANCHOR(S).

WATER LEAKING INTO REAR AND INTO THE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL. ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER FOUND IN THE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL. UNSURE WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING.
I RECENTLY HAVE NOTICED WATER ON THE 3RD SEAT BELTS. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO THOUGHT THE WATER WAS COMING FROM A PLUG IN THE REAR. SEALED IT BUT STILL HAD ISSUES. TOOK THE PANELS OFF IN THE TRUNK AND RAN THE WATER TEST AGAIN. FOUND THE ISSUE WAS COMING FROM THE SIDES OF THE TAILGATE AT THE TOP WHERE THE WELD APPEARS TO BE CRACKING LETTING WATER IN ON BOTH SEATBELTS AND INTO THE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMMENTS TO THE SAME ISSUE. HAPPENS ANYTIME WATER IS HITTING THE CAR LIKE RAIN OR CAR WASH.
WE HAVE JUST BECOME AWARE THAT EXHAUST GASSES ARE LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND APPARENTLY HAVE BEEN FOR SOME TIME, CAUSING HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND EYE IRRITATION. WE LOCATED A TSB FROM FORD (TSB 16-0166) RELATING TO THE ISSUE AND BECAME AWARE THAT FORD HAD OFFERED TO FIX THE ISSUE. BOTH THE CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY AND THE NHTSA INVESTIGATED THIS ISSUE RESULTING IN FORD NOTIFYING OWNERS OF POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES OFFERING TO FIX THE ISSUE FOR FREE. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER, AND WHEN I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE'S VIN WAS NOT AFFECTED. WITH THE LEAKAGE OF THE EXHAUST INTO THE CABIN I'VE EARNED THE RIGHT TO CALL BS. THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF DEFECT THAT WILL REPAIR ITSELF AND PRESENTS A CLEAR AND PRESENT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, AS EVIDENCED BY THE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF CRASHES. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG AND WARRANTS A RECALL AND INSPECTION/REPAIR OF EVERY VEHICLE IN THE CATEGORY. DATE BELOW IS THE DATE THAT WE TOOK IT IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR, BUT THE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN NOTICED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS.
2013 FORD EXPLORER WITH HOOD PAINT BUBBLING AND PEELING. I NOTICE A WHILE BACK AND THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A ROCK THAT HIT THE HOOD. NOW IT PEELING REALLY BAD AND CRACKING AND PEELING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL CAUSE SO MANY CLIENTS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
WHEN IDLING CABIN FILLS UP WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE SMOKE FROM MUFFLERS. FELL ASLEEP IN THE CAR WHILE IDLING, WOKE UP DIZZY AND THRU UP SHORTLY AFTER, STRONG HEADACHE AFTER. RUST AROUND THE LOCK ON THE TRUNK LID.
INITIAL COMPLAINT TO FORD DEALERSHIP RE: EXHAUST ODORS IN CABIN, POSSIBLY RELATED TO USE OF AIR CONDITIONING (INSPECTED 5/4/16, MILEAGE 47,450, NO REPAIRS COMPLETED). PERFORMANCE RECALL 17NO3 COMPLETED 10/22/18. EXHAUST ODORS WORSE AFTER RECALL. FORD DEALERSHIP INSPECTED AGAIN ON 10/30/18. RECOMMENDED USING RECIRCULATION OF CABIN AIR AT ALL TIMES. AIR CONDITIONING HAS SINCE STOPPED WORKING. PER DEALERSHIP REAR A/C LINES NOW NEED REPLACEMENT, EXT. COST OF $2,100. CABIN EXHAUST ODORS CONTINUE AND INSIDE OF WINDSHIELD IS FOGGING. ODORS WORSE WHEN STOPPED AT STOPLIGHTS. MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OF CO DETECTION IN CABIN WHILE IN MOTION IN RURAL AREAS. ELEVATED COHB WITH VARIOUS HEALTH SYMPTOMS AND CHILDREN NOW COMPLAINING OF CAR SICKNESS. VARIOUS AREAS OF RUST ALSO REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP AND NEW AREAS APPEARING (I.E. NEAR DRAIN VALES OF THE LIFTGATE). *DT *AS
WINDSHIELD INNER AND OUTER TRIM SEALS HAVE FAILED ON BOTH SIDES OF WINDSHIELD .VEHICLE ONLY HAS 72000 MILES. RUBBER HAS DISINTEGRATED. TRIM COMING LOOSE ON VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING.
2013 FORD EXPLORER, FRONT (HOOD) IS DETERIORATING, AND HOLES IN THE METAL ARE STARTING TO ROT THRU PAINT IS PEELING AND GETTING WORSE. MY BODY AND FENDER MAN TELLS ME IT CAN ALSO AFFECT THE SPRING LOADED AND LOCKING DEVICE OF THE HOOD, WHICH IN TIME CAN CAUSE A FAILURE OF THE HOOD BEING DISLODGED AND BLOCKING YOUR VISION. HE ALSO EXPLAINED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD PRODUCTS AND THERE REALLY IS NO FIX. THEY HOODS ARE ALUMINUM AND ARE INSTALLED ON A STEEL BODY. ITS NOT THE PAINT JOB, ITS A DISSIMILAR METAL ISSUE THAT ONLY CAN BE CORRECTED BY INSTALLING A NEW HOOD. I NOW UNDERSTAND THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF FORD PRODUCTS. HELP
OVER THE PAST YEAR OR SO, THE PAINT ON THE HOOD OF MY EXPLORER HAS BEEN BUBBLING AND PEELING ALONG THE PERIMETER. WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOOK PICTURES AND CONTACTED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD, BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, THEY CAN'T HELP. AS I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE TO SEE IF OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS, LAWSUITS PENDING, AND ARTICLES WRITTEN ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I WENT THROUGH THE PROPER CHANNELS, CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE ONLINE AND THROUGH MESSENGER, BUT STILL HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS NOT FORD'S FAULT. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND HAVE ALWAYS PURCHASED VEHICLES FROM FORD. MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER LOOKS LIKE NEW FROM THE INSIDE. THE OUTSIDE LOOKS FINE, AS WELL, EXCEPT THE HIDEOUS HOOD PERIMETER. THE HOOD IS EMBARRASSING, PERIOD. I DON'T DESERVE THE POOR SERVICE I AM GETTING FROM THE ENTIRE FORD COMPANY. THE FACT THAT IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTLY SHOULDN'T MATTER WITH THIS ISSUE. THE PAINT SHOULD NOT BE BUBBLING AND PEELING LIKE THIS. SOMEONE AT FORD IS TO BLAME OR WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE OF THE HOOD/PAINT/MATERIAL TO MAKE THE HOOD. I WILL KEEP FIGHTING UNTIL FORD PAYS TO HAVE MY HOOD REDONE. I HAVE CONTACTED ZESTAR, THE FORD CEO, PRESIDENT, ETC. AND A DETROIT FREE PRESS JOURNALIST WHO WROTE ABOUT FORD'S TRANSIMISSION DECEITFUL COVERUP. I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN TO HAVE THE HOOD OF MY CAR FIXED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. **IN THE UPLOADED FILE BELOW, IT ASKS FOR A DATE IN WHICH THIS OCCURRED. I DO NOT HAVE AN EXACT DATE. IT HAS BEEN ONGOING AND IS OBVIOUSLY GETTING WORSE AS TIME GOES ON.
I AM WRITING THIS LETTER IN REGARDS TO MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER XLT. I'VE NOTICED A FAST ACTING PAINT FLAW THAT IS GROWING IN CRITICALITY, AND IS GROWING INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATING EACH DAY! WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THIS WAS NOT RECOGNIZABLE TO THE EYE OBVIOUSLY, AS I WOULDN'T HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE OTHERWISE. CURRENTLY, THE PAINT IS BUBBLING UP AROUND THE ENTIRE EDGE OF THE HOOD. ON 7/14 ONE OF THOSE BUBBLES OF PAINT FLAKED OFF, WHICH WILL NOW LEAD TO OTHER MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE PAINT AND LOOK OF, NOT ONLY THE HOOD, BUT ESSENTIALLY THE ENTIRE CAR. AT THIS POINT I'VE BEEN FORCED TO DISCONTINUE TAKING THIS VEHICLE THROUGH THE CAR WASH (TOUCH OR NO TOUCH), AS MORE PAINT WILL FLAKE OFF. NOT ONLY THAT, I AVOID THE AREAS WHEN I WASH AND WAX THE VEHICLE BY HAND. IF WHAT FORD'S SLOGAN RINGS TRUE (BUILT FORD TOUGH), THEN I MUST SAY, THAT I'M PERFECTLY FINE WITH DOING BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, AS THIS PAINT JOB IS FAR FROM TOUGH, IT'S ROUGH! I PRIDE MYSELF IN BEING A HARD WORKING CONSUMER, AND WHEN I TAKE THE PLUNGE TO SPEND THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO PURCHASE A PRODUCT, I WANT TO STEP BACK AND BE PROUD OF IT, AND THE HARD WORK THAT IT TOOK TO BE IN A POSITION TO MAKE THIS KIND OF PURCHASING DECISION. I WOULD ALSO EXPECT A SENSE OF PRIDE FROM THE COMPANY'S PERSPECTIVE TO STAND BY YOUR PRODUCT, AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHY I'M WRITING THIS COMPLAINT LETTER.
TAKARA RECALL THE HOOD OF MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER HAS A CORROSION ON IT. PAINT IS PEELING AND BUBBLING. THE ALUMINUM HAS A POWDER LOOK TO IT AND IS WEEK. AFTER TIME HOOD COULD COME UNLATCHED DO TO ALUMINUM CORROSION. FORD IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT WON'T FIX OUT SIDE OF 3/36000 MILE WARRANTY.
I HAVE TWO COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS AUTO 1) CAR PAINT IN THE HOOD LOOKS BUBBLY AND SOME IS PEALING. 2)INSIDE THE PASSENGER DOOR THE FABRIC REAPED BELOW WHERE THE WINDOWS AND DOOR BUTTONS ARE LOCATED.
PEALING PAINT ON HOOD WHICH HAS EXPANDED ACROSS HOOD SINCE PURCHASED IN 2014, FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AT THAT TIME.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO STOP AND EXAMINE MY VEHICLE, IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT A LARGE PIECE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD MOLDING BROKE OFF AND THE RUBBER STRIPPING UNDERNEATH THAT PART CAME LOOSE AS WELL. I ALSO FOUND THAT A SMALL PIECE OF WINDSHIELD MOLDING BROKE OFF ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AS WELL. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, HOWEVER, WHEN WE CHECKED ONLINE FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS WE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF PURCHASES MADE FOR THESE PARTICULAR PARTS. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP AND IF THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE PARTS FAILING/BREAKING WHY HASN'T FORD DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT BEFORE A BREAKING PART HITS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR CAUSES AN ACCIDENT? I ALSO HAVE FIRST-HAND KNOWLEDGE THAT A FRIEND OF MINE IS EXPERIENCING A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM AND WHEN HIS RUBBER CAME LOOSE, FLAPPING AROUND AS MINE DID, IT WAS ENOUGH OF A DISTRACTION THAT HE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TWO REPAIR ESTIMATES AND WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE THEM UPON REQUEST.
I NOTICED THE OUTSIDE TRIM AROUND THE SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD APPEARED LOOSE ON THE DRIVER BUT MOSTLY PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. A FEW WEEKS LATER WHEN I STARTED DRIVING OVER 10 MPH DOWN THE ROAD, I HEARD A NOISE LIKE SOMETHING BEATING AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD. I NOTICED THE RUBBER SEAL AROUND THE WINDSHIELD AND BETWEEN THE TRIM AND THE WINDSHIELD HAD COME OFF AND WAS FLAPPING IN THE WIND AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD AND CAR. THE BODY TRIM IS NOW LOOSE AS WELL. I HAD A LITTLE WATER EVEN LEAK INTO THE CAR. IT WAS VERY DISTRACTING AND ALMOST CAUSED MY WRECK. I HAD TO TEMPORARILY TAPE THE RUBBER TRIM DOWN AS IT KEEPS COMING LOOSE AND GETS WORSE AS YOU DRIVE (WHICH YOU HAVE NO CHOICE WHEN YOU ARE NOT CLOSE TO HOME OR CAN'T GET YOUR VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS UNTIL WEEKS LATER).
MY 2013 EXPLORER HAD COME BUBBLES COMING UP ALONG THE EDGE OF THE HOOD. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BODY WORK ISSUE BUT THE BODY SHOP SAID IT IS ACTUALLY CORROSION FROM THE ALUMINUM HOOD. THE CORROSION IS PROGRESSING AND GETTING WORSE. THIS WILL EVENTUALLY LEAVE MY HOOD STRUCTURALLY UNSOUND AND EXPOSE ALL THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS TO THE ELEMENTS FOR DEGRADATION.
WATER LEAK IN BACK OF VEHICLE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURER'S WELDED SEAM. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE COMES IN CONTACT WITH (I.E.: RAIN, CAR WASH) WATER LEAKS HEAVILY INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE THIRD ROW SEATBELT HOLE. THE WATER LEAKS INTO VEHICLE WHEN PARKED AND WHEN DRIVING. LEAK WAS NOT NOTICED AT ONSET OR WHEN VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
INTERIOR OF VEHICLE TAKING IN WATER FROM RAIN SHOWERS (NOT EVEN BAD RAIN SHOWERS), WATER IS COMING IN FROM THE ROOF WHERE THE WINDSHIELD MEETS THE ROOF AND ABSORBING AROUND THE SUNGLASS HOLDER/INTERIOR LIGHTS AND DRIPPING DOWN ONTO RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND COMPLETELY SOAKS THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I'VE HAD THE DOOR SEAL REPLACED RECENTLY AND THE DEALER TELLS ME ITS A DIFFERENT ISSUE, WITHOUT EVEN EVALUATING IT. AT ANY RATE THIS WATER COMING INTO THE VEHICLE IS A HUGE ISSUE ESPECIALLY THAT IT'S SITTING IN THE CAR ROTTING EVERYTHING OUT AND DRIPPING ONTO ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS THREATENING THE INTEGRITY OF ANY ELECTRICAL OR DASH OPERATIONS. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ON A LARGER ISSUE. THIS OCCURRED AFTER SITTING IN MY WORK PARKING LOT ALL DAY THEN I COULD ALSO FEEL IT WHEN DRIVING 35-45MPH TO THE DEALER.
OXIDIZING ON FRONT OF HOOD CAUSING THE PAINT TO PEEL
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE CAUTION LIGHT CAME ON SAYING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR NOT LATCHED AND MY DOOR STARTED TO OPEN. I PULLED OVER AND COULDN'T GET THE DOOR TO LATCH SHUT. AFTER WORKING WITH IT IT LATCHED SO I COULD GET HOME. THE NEXT TIME I GOT INTO MY DRIVERS SIDE THE SAME THING, MY DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. THIS TIME I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE AND COULD NOT. THE LATCH IT STILL BROKEN, A PIECE OF THE HANDLE ACTUALLY FELL OFF. MY CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF , KEPT IN A GARAGE , LOW MILES ETC. OUR FRIEND MENTIONED THEIR FORD HAVING A RECALL ON THE DOOR LATCH. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WASN'T IMPLEMENTED ON ALL 2013 EXPLORERS.
THE INSIDE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL FILLS WITH WATER. THIS APPARENTLY IS AN ENGINEERING ISSUE SINCE I SAW THINGS ONLINE ABOUT IT. MOLD IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS PROBLEM GROWING ON THE WHEEL COVER. WHAT IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE
WHEN DRIVING DOWN I-75 HEADED TO WORK, DOING 65 MPH BOTH MY WINDSHIELD TRIMS FLEW OFF MY CAR AN STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE. IT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME! HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED?
SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED OR IN MOTION. WATER INTRUDES THU THE FRONT DOME LIGHT, THE SIDE, THE REAR SEAT BELT, AND OTHER AREAS. WATER WAS STANDING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FEET AREA AND IT FILLED THE REAR SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL. HAD PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE FORD DEALER WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO CLEARED THE TWO REAR DRAINS ON THE SUN ROOF, BUT THAT DOES NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS IN A WATER CLOSET THEY HAVE IN THEIR SHOP. DIAGNOSTIC REPORT NOTES "WATER IS FOUND COMING IN FROM THE TAIL GATE BODY SEAMS" DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE SEAM SEALER IS APPLIED AT THE FACTORY DURING MANUFACTURING PRIOR TO THE PAINTING. APPARENTLY THIS FACTORY SEALER HAS FAILED. UNCLEAR IF SEALER COMPOUND WAS DEFECTIVE, OR WAS IMPROPERLY APPLIED. BOTTOM LINE IS THE FACTORY SEAL HAS FAILED, THE SEAMS ARE NOW COMPROMISED RESULTING IN THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE 3RD PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT FORD SOLD ME IS SUPPOSED TO COVER SEALS AND GASKETS, BUT APPARENTLY THERE IS FINE PRINT DEEP IN THE BOWELS OF THE CONTRACT THAT EXCLUDES BODY ISSUES EVEN IF THE ROOT CAUSE IS POOR MATERIALS, POOR QUALITY, OR WORKMANSHIP BY THE MANUFACTURER. DEALER INDICATED THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OBSERVED PREVIOUSLY ON THIS MODEL. SIMPLE WEB SEARCHES SHOW A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS AND ADJACENT MODEL YEARS BUT YET RECALL YET FOR THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED FORD'S SUPPORT LINE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. NO RESOLUTION AS OF THIS WRITING. DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD REQUIRE A BODY SHOP.I WENT TO THE BODY SHOP OWNED BY THE DEALER AND RECEIVED A PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE OF $738. THEY EMPHASIZED "PRELIMINARY" AS THEY'RE UNSURE HOW EXTENSIVE THE SEAM SEAL FAILURE MAY BE. THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY IMPACTS THE SAFETY (WATER AND ICE IN INTERIOR) BUT ALSO CREATES A HEALTH HAZARD FROM MOLD, MILDEW, SICKENING SMELL.
THE FRONT HOOD PAINT HAS BUBBLED AND PEELED OFF THE FRONT EDGE. APPEARS TO HAVE BUBBLED IN MORE PLACES, NOW AWAITING EVEN MORE PEELING. OBVIOUSLY A PAINT DEFECT. ALTHOUGH I WILL ENTER A DATE - IT'S BEEN A CONSTANT DEFECT. (SPEAKING WITH OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS - A COMMON COMPLAINT.) #2 ALSO, FOR SEVERAL YEARS THE CAR DRIVER DOOR SENSOR (?) LIGHT (HENCE THE CEILING LIGHTS) STAY ON (ALTHOUGH THE CEILING EVENTUALLY TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING). THIS INDICATION THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR / NOT CLOSED IS FREQUENT AND OFTEN AND HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN VIRGINIA SEVERAL TIMES - WITH NO REPAIR / FIX. IT IS NOT CONSTANT BUT FREQUENT.
WE RECENTLY BEGAN SMELLING A PUNGENT 'SULFUR' OR 'ROTTEN EGG' LIKE SMELL THAT COMES AND GOES IN THE INTERIOR CABIN OF OUR EXPLORER WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. TYPICALLY THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR WHILE OR JUST AFTER DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS/ACCELERATING. WE BELIEVE THIS IS IN LINE WITH OTHER INSTANCES PEOPLE HAVE HAD IN EXPLORERS OF POSSIBLE EXHAUST LEAKS INTO THE INTERIOR CABIN SPACE OF THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE 83,000 MILES ON OUR 2013 AWD 3.5L EXPLORER LIMITED. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER UNDER CUSTOMER SERVICE SATISFACTION PROGRAM SERVICE # 17N03, BUT THEY STATED OUR SPECIFIC VIN DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS SERVICE & THUS WOULD NOT COVER THAT SERVICE FIX FOR THIS ISSUE.
WINDSHIELD TRIM RANDOMLY FLEW OFF GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ST 70 MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BEHIND ME.
THE WELD SEAM SEALANT USED ABOVE THE TAILGATE HAS FAILED AND BEGUN CRACKING, ALLOWING RAINTO ENTER THROUGH THE POORLY DONE WELDING, AND DRIPS INTO MY CARGO AREA THROUGH THE REAR SPEAKERS, DOWN THE SEATBELT, AND ONTO MY SEATS. LUCKILY I HAVE A CARGO LINER WHICH HELPS AVOID MY SEATS FROM GETTING SOAKED. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER PARKED OR MOVING.
METAL BODY CRACKING ON UPPER AREA PANEL WHERE LIFTGATE HINGES ARE. CREATING WATER DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR PART OF THE THIRD ROW. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS AND THE CRACKS ARE GETTING BIGGER.
THE VEHICLE IS ROLLING AWAY WHILE IN "PARK". IT IS THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED FOR OTHER FORD VEHICLES BUT THE EXPLORER IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS OCCURRENCE TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF OUR GARAGE AND INTO FENCE AND TREE. THE SECOND TIME, IT ROLLED OUT OF A PARKED SPOT WHILE MY WIFE WAS IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND CLEARLY OBSERVING THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN "PARK".
NOTICED LEAK INTO SPARE TIRE WELL YEARS AGO AND JONES FORD IN N. CHARLESTON COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. 8/13/2018 TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND FOUND THE WATER POURS DOWN THE THIRD ROW SEATBELTS ANYTIME IT RAINS. THERE IS NOW MOLD IN THE CARPETED AREA BELOW THE 3RD ROW SEATS. THE LEAK HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY, DRIVING, ANYTIME IT IS RAINING.
'DOOR AJAR' STAYS ON CAUSING THE DOOR LOCKS TO UNLOCK WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF CHILDREN ARE IN CAR.
THE FRONT A-PILLAR MOLDINGS SEPARATED FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED A SAFETY HAZARD TO OTHERS IN TRAFFIC. THIS OCCURRED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WAS LOOSE. ADDITIONALLY, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR FOR THE DRIVER'S DOOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED SUNNYSIDE MOTOR CO., INC. (944 MAIN ST, HOLDEN, MA 01520, (508) 829-4333) AND A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. *TT
I PURCHASED A USED EXPLORER IN LATE JUNE OF LAST YEAR WITH APPROX 25000 MILES ON IT. THE A-PILLAR MOLDING FLEW OFF IN TRAFFIC LAST WEEK AND I JUST FOUND OUT, THESE PARTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT THAT FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE AND REPAIR AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER.
PAINT PEELING ON HOOD. THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD HAS PEELING PAINT. IT BEGAN JUST AFTER THE 36 MO WARRANTY EXPIRED AND FORD HAS NOT MADE ANY EFFORTS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I RECENTLY SAW ANOTHER EXPLORER, SAME YEAR, MODEL WITH EVEN WORSE PEELING PAINT ON THE HOOD. I HAVE INCLUDED THE PICTURE OF THAT CAR AS WELL.
THERE ARE FAULTY WELDS IN THE ROOF SEAMS UNDER THE REAR LIFT GATE. THIS ALLOWS WATER TO ESCAPE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, ALONG THE HEADLINER, AND DOWN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELTS. WATER ACCUMULATES IN REAR CUP HOLDERS AND FLOOR BOARDS. ISSUE WAS REPAIRED ONCE BEFORE, FAILED AGAIN NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER.
VEHICLE IN MOTION WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD SLOW DOWN TO A CRAWL AND LOSE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. YELLOW WRENCH WARNING LIGHT WOULD THEN LIGHT UP. HAPPENED TWICE AND ALMOST HAD SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ALSO WOULD EXPERIENCE BURNING SMELL WHEN ACCELERATING UP A HILL. PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO DEALER BUT THEY WOULD NOT BELIEVE.
WATER LEAKS INTO CABIN OF CAR. ENTERS IN REAR OF VEHICLE AND RUNS DOWN THIRD ROW SEAT BELTS. HAPPENS ON BOTH SIDES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, AT A RATE OF 70 MPH AND SUDDENLY MY A PILLER OUTER COVER (TRIM) FLEW OFF MY CAR! I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO.
MY 2013 EXPLORER HOOD WAS PEELING AND I HAVE TO HAVE IT REPAINTED. IT WAS RUSTING. ALSO I SMELL FUEL FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE, IT IS SO BAD, YOU HAVE TO STOP THE CAR AND GET OUT TO BREATH.
PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW TRIM FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPRX 65-70 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WITHIN LESS THAN A WEEK OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (SKALNEK FORD, 941 S LAPEER RD, LAKE ORION, MI 48362, (248) 693-6241) STATED THAT THERE WAS A TSB THAT COULD BE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. AN UNKNOWN PART WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED THREE RECALLS ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA17002 (STRUCTURE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HWY 146 AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR FLEW OFF. I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND FIND THE PIECE, BUT I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.
CONDITIONS: THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THERE WAS HEAVY RAIN. THERE IS TRIM MOLDING ON THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD OF THE 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING A FEW WEEKS AGO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE MOLDING FLEW OFF, LEAVING EXPOSED A STRIP OF WEATHER STRIPPING, WHICH WAS COVERED WITH A BLACKISH GLUE. AS A RESULT OF THE MOLDING HAVING FLOWN OFF, THE NOW UNSECURED WEATHER STRIPPING WAS REPEATEDLY HITTING THE WINDSHIELD LEAVING IT COVERED WITH THE STICKY RESIDUE FROM THE GLUE. WHILE THAT ON ITS OWN MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SO BAD, IT WAS RAINING AND THE AUTOMATIC WIPERS HAD ENGAGED. THIS RESULTED IN THE WEATHER STRIPPING GETTING CAUGHT UNDERNEATH ONE OF THE WIPERS AND SMEARING THE GLUE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD RENDERING IT COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE. THE COMBINATION OF THE GLUE FROM THE WEATHER STRIPPING COMPLETELY OBSCURING MY VISIBILITY, THE WIPERS BEING RENDERED WHOLLY INOPERABLE, AND THE HEAVY RAIN WAS A DEVASTATING COMBINATION. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY, DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR, WITH MILD TO HEAVY TRAFFIC, WHILE IT WAS RAINING, AND IN THE SPAN OF LESS THAN FIVE SECONDS: (1) THE TRIM TO MY WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF IN TRAFFIC; (2) THE GLUE ON THE WEATHER STRIPPING THAT WAS HELD IN PLACE BY THE TRIM BEGAN REPEATEDLY FLAPPING ON THE WINDSHIELD; (3) THE WIPERS, ALREADY ENGAGED, GOT CAUGHT ON THE FLAPPING WEATHER STRIPPING, AND SMEARED THE GLUE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD; AND (4) THE WIPERS WERE LEFT COMPLETELY INOPERABLE DUE TO THE WEATHER STRIPPING THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN CAUGHT ON. ESSENTIALLY, IN THE SPAN OF LESS THAN FIVE SECONDS, I WENT FROM BEING ABLE TO SEE AND DRIVE WITHOUT ISSUE TO HAVING TO DRIVE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEE WHAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME.
LEFT TRIM ON WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF AS I WAS DRIVING ON I75 LAST WEEK CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME TO SWERVE TO MISS THE PIECE FLYING THROUGH THE AIR. I HAVE READ ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ONE EVEN REFERENCED THE FOLLOWING CASE # CAS-13158913-T1R4M0. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL .
PAINT BUBBLING ON HOOD BECAME VISIBLE AFTER PAINT WARRANTY WAS OVER. FORD ADVISED MAY BE COVERED BY CORROSION WARRANTY. BROUGHT TO DEALER WHO REFERRED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. FORD REVIEWED PHOTOS TAKEN BY DEALER AND DENIED COVERAGE STATING CORROSION HAD TO BE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE AFFECTED AREA. OWNER APPEALED THEIR DECISION CITING TWO PRIOR FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS FOR ALUMINUM BODY PART CONTAMINATION BY IRON IN PAINTING PROCESS. FORD AND DEALER REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS CORROSION MAY BE A SIGN OF A BIGGER SAFETY PROBLEM.
THE PAINT ON THE EDGES OF THE HOOD IS BUBBLING AND PEELING OFF. THIS STARTED WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. FORD WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
WE BOUGHT OUR VEHICLE USED IN 2015 WITH LESS THAN 40K MILES ON IT. IT IS OUR MAIN, FAMILY VEHICLE. THE FIRST ISSUES STARTED WITH PAINT CHIPPING ON THE HOOD. THE FORD STORE WE BOUGHT IT FROM NEVER STATED THIS WAS A PROBLEM. WE DID NOTICE IT AFTER HAVING IT AT HOME AND IT HAS GRADUALLY BECOME WORSE. I HAVE HAD USAA INSPECT IT AND THEY SAID IT LOOKS LIKE "SOMEONE DROVE IT WHERE THERE WAS HIGH SULFUR PRESENT"---NEAR WATER OR ETC. THE SECOND ISSUE IS WITH THE ENGINE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OUR VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO TURN OVER AT THE FIRST START. WILL SIT THERE AND MAKE NOISES LIKE IT IS TRYING BUT FAIL AND TURN OFF. ONE INSTANCE HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A STREET ROAD. CAR HAD TROUBLE STARTING AND THEN SHUT OFF RANDOMLY. WE HAVE CONTACTED USAA AND TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THEY CANNOT SEEM TO HELP RESOLVE EITHER ISSUES. UPON CONDUCTING OUR OWN RESEARCH I SEE THAT THESE ARE RE-OCCURRING ISSUES WITH OTHER OWNERS, ACROSS THE US AND FORD HAS YET TO RESOLVE. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE
WINDSHIELD MOLDINGS AND TRIMS COME LOOSE. MY MOLDING ON THE PASSANGER SIDE CAME LOOSE AND FLEW OFF ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME TO SWERVE. LUCKILY THERE WASN'T TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED A LONG TIME AGO. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO RECALL YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW TRIM FRACTURED, DETACHED, AND STRUCK A VEHICLE BEHIND THE CONTACT. SANDY SANSING FORD-LINCOLN IN DAPHNE, ALABAMA (27180 HIGHWAY 98, 36526 (251) 626-7777) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: CAS-13158913-T1R4M0. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD TRIM FLEW OFF WHILE DRVING
NOTING TWO BIG RECALLS IN DOOR LATCH MECHANISMS, THIS MODEL YEAR, MY RIGHT REAR DOOR HAS BECAME INOPERATIVE. DOOR IS LOCKED, WILL NOT UNLOCK. CANNOT OPEN DOOR. HAD KIDS IN THE BACK SEATS LAST WEEK. IF THIS FAILURE HAPPENED THEN, KIDS FACED GRAVE DANGER IF EGRESS REQUIRED. PLEASE ADD MY VIN TO THIS RECALL. AS IS, REAR SEATS ARE A DEATH TRAP. EGRESS MALFUNCTION INABILITY TO EGRESS VEHICLE
EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN - SINCE WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE EXPLORER FOR THREE MONTHS (IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP GETTING AN UPDATED TURBO), MY WIFE HAS NOT HAD ANY UNEXPLAINED HEADACHES AFTER SPENDING ALL DAY RUNNING ERRANDS IN THE EXPLORER.
PAINT IS CHIPPING FROM THE HOOD FOR THE PAST YEAR!
PAINT AROUND THE EDGE OF THE HOOD IS BUBBLING AND CHIPPING OFF.
WINDSHIELD PILLAR, LEFT SIDE IS LOOSE AND HAS CAUSED THE WEATHER STRIPPING TO DEGRADE AND DETACH. HAVE READ FROM OTHER OWNERS THE PILLAR MOLDING WILL DETACH WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
WHILE ACCELERATING EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CAB, WIFE SAYS IT SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS OR SULFUR. AC IS ON IN RECIRCULATE MODE. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHILE ACCELERATING UP A HILL OR ENTERING A HIGHWAY.
THE VEHICLE WAS TESTED AND FOUND TO HAVE 10 PPM OF CO IN THE INTERIOR.
FORD EXPLORER HOOD CORROSION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW ON 4/25/2013. THE HOOD STARTED TO SHOW CORROSION AND I HAD SAWGRASS FORD IN HOLLYWOOD, FL. REPAIR THE HOOD ON 5/13/2015 WITH 24,420 MILES ON IT. THE CORROSION RETURNED AND WAS REPAIRED AGAIN ON 1/8/2016 WITH 35,110 MILES ON IT BY SAWGRASS FORD. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 48,830 MILES ON IT AND THE HOOD NOW HAS 3 AREAS WITH CORROSION AND THE STEEL FRAME UNDER THE HOOD IS RUSTED OUT AND ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE.
EXHAUST LEAKS INTO CABIN UNDER ACCELERATION
"TAKATA RECALL" I PURCHASED A 2013 FORD EXPLORER AND THE WINDSHIELD PILLAR HAS COMPLETELY FLOWN OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD , I HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE FIXED AND 2 DAYS LATER THE PASSENGERS SIDE FLEW OFF. THANKS GOODNESS THIS DID NOT CAUSE A WRECK. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS, AND IT COST AROUND 400 TO FIX. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF ONE SIDE BEFORE IT FLEW OFF
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD IS BUBBLING AND PEELING OFF. IT HAS NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO EXCESSIVE BRINE OR WEATHER.
MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE. HOWEVER, LAST WEEKEND DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, MY BOYFRIEND AND I HEAR THIS LOUD "THUMP". BOTH OF US THOUGHT MAYBE A BIRD HIT US OR SOMETHING BECAUSE THERE HADN'T BEEN ANYTHING IN THE ROAD. SO WE PULL OF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT EXIT, GET OUT TO EXPECT FEATHERS, BUT INSTEAD FIND THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR TRIM MOLDING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. HAD BEEN RIPPED OFF BY THE WIND - WHICH IT WASN'T EVEN WINDY THAT DAY, JUST THE WIND OF GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. DROPPED IT OFF TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST NIGHT TO BE FIXED AND THEY TOLD US THIS IS A "COMMON ISSUE" WITH THE EXPLORERS! HOW CAN THIS BE A COMMON ISSUE AND NO FIX IN PLACE??? IT IS IN FOR SERVICE NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR IF THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT.
THE PASSENGER SIDE 'A' PILLAR PLASTIC COVER FLEW OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED. CARS BEHIND ME SWERVED AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. THE RUBBER GASKET WAS DANGLING AND CONSEQUENTLY BLOCKING THE PASSENGER REAR VIEW SIDE MIRROR. FORD IS STATING THAT IT 'IS NOT A FACTORY DEFECT' AND CONSEQUENTLY I SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT (EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AND ALSO PURCHASED THEIR 'PREMIUM CARE WARRANTY.) THE CAR HAS 40K MILES ON IT.
THE FRONT EDGE OF MY HOOD IS NOW CORRODED ALL THE WAY ACROSS MY ALUMINUM HOOD. THERE ARE MULTIPLE 'RUST' BUBBLES AND NOW PAINT IS FALLING OFF. THE REST OF THE CAR IS PRETTY MUCH IMMACULATE.
WINDSHIELD TRIM FLEW OFF. PASSENGER SIDE AT 42,000 DRIVER SIDE AT 53,000 MILES.
BLACK WINDOW TRIM ON DRIVERS SIDE BLUE OFF WHILE AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE OTHER SIDE BLEW OFF APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS AGO. BOTH INSTANCES WERE REPAIRED AT FUTURE FORD IN CLOVIS CA. I LIVE IN VERY HOT SUMMER ENVIRONMENT. I FEEL THE SUN IS BAKING THE BLACK WINDOW TRIMS AND CAUSING THE RETAINING CLIPS, AND ADHESIVE, TO WEAKEN. BOTH TIMES HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN A STRONG CROSSWIND IN THE LATE MORNING. TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 80'S. THIS TIME, WAS IN THE EARLY MORNING, APPROXIMATELY 0830. THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE HIGH 60'S.
PAINT IS CHIPPING AND FLAKING OFF FROM UNDER THE PAINT. BUBBLES ARE FORMING ALONG THE EDGE OF FRONT HOOD AND TAIL HATCH.
MY DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS ONLY OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. MY BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN AT ALL. I'VE HAD THE FRONT LOCKS GREASED AND THEY STILL ONLY OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. SO TO GET IN THE VEHICLE, YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK IT, OPEN BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR, REACH IN AND OPEN DRIVER DOOR AND THEN PASSENGER FROM INSIDE. NO MECHANIC I'VE SPOKEN WITH OR TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET IN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP.
PAINT BUBBLES PUSHING UP ON HOOD
RUST AND PAINT BUBBLED ALONG FRONT EDGE OF HOOD.
PAINT BUBLING AT HOOD FRONT EDGE
THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER WINDSHIELD MOULDING FLEW OFF OF MY CAR WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY I BELIEVE- HEARD A SOUND BUT DID NOT REALIZE WHAT HAPPENED. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. THERE IS NOW DAMAGE TO THE SIDE DOOR WHERE IT HIT THE CAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALER THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THEY HAVE SEEN HAPPEN BUT FORD HAS NOT DONE A RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DANGER OF THIS PART FLYING OFF A CAR.
RECENTLY, ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR, THE PAINT HAS STARTED BUBBLING. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND FORD ISSED TSB ABOUT IT. I HAVE NOT CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOOD AS THERE IS NO WAY TO REPAIR THESE AREAS.
WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED AND WITH 48 HOURS NOTICED AN EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE CABIN WHEN SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.
THE PAINT ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD STARTED BUBBLING AFTER ABOUT 2 YEARS. AFTER 3 YEARS THE PAINT STARTED COMING OFF. CURRENTLY THERE ARE 3 DIME SIZED SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT HAS COME OFF EXPOSING THE CORRODED METAL HOOD. IT APPEARS THE HOOD WAS NOT PROPERLY PREPPED BEFORE PAINT. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON FORD VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
THE WINDSHIELD TRIM ON MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MARCH 4TH. THE NEXT DAY, THE RIGHT/PASSENGER SIDE FLEW OFF AS WELL. NEITHER TIME WAS I HIT OR HIT ANYTHING. MANY PEOPLE HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THEIR EXPLORER, YET FORD TRIED TO CHARGE ME $700 FOR REPAIRS. I DO NOT BELIEVE I AM LIABLE FOR THIS AND I ALSO BELIEVE AN INCIDENT LIKE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE AND/OR HURT ANOTHER DRIVER IF THEY HAD BEEN BEHIND ME.
PAINT BUBBLING AND FLAKING ON THE HOOD.
CONTAMINATION OF THE METAL IN THE HOOD AT THE FACTORY IS CAUSING THE PAINT TO BUBBLE AND FLAKE OFF.
AT A SPEED OF 65 TO 70 MPH ON INDIANA HYW 31 A VERY LOUD SOUND SHOOK MY CAR--I THOUGHT I HAD HIT SOMETHING--LOOKING VIA THE REAL VIEW MIRROR I SAW THE CAR FOLLOWING ME JERK INTO THE OTHER LANE--I PUT ON MY WARNING FLASHERS AND PULLED OVER AS DID THE CAR FOLLOWING ME. THE YOUNG MAN THOUGHT I HAD THROWN SOMETHING OUT MY WINDOW WHICH BOUNCED OFF THIS WINDSHIELD--HE WAS NOT AT ALL HAPPY!!!!! WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS THE BIG BLACK WINDSHIELD MOLDING- DRIVER SIDE----APPROX. 3 X 37 IN LONG BROKE OFF FROM MY CAR FLEW BACK AND BOUNCED OFF THIS WINDSHIELD. WE COULD NOT SEE ANY DAMAGE TO HIS CAR. HE TOLD ME HE ONLY SAW THIS BIG BLACK SOMETHING ABOUT TO HIT HIM AND JERKED THE WHEEL INTO THE LEFT LANE. ON INSPECTION OF MY CAR 4 OF THE 8 HOLD POINTS WERE MISSING--IT APPEARS THE MOLDING AT THE HOOD POINTS LET LOOSE WHICH CAUSED THE REST OF THE BIG MOLDING TO TEAR LOOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. AFTER IT RAINED, THE VEHICLE ACCUMULATED WATER ON THE INTERIOR PASSENGER FLOOR, THE SEAT BELTS WERE SATURATED, AND WATER ENTERED THROUGH THE VENTS AND POURED OUT FROM THE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, THE CONTACT HEARD THE SOUND OF WATER THROUGHOUT THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO OBSERVED THE SMELL OF MOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
TAKATA RECALL FORD 2013 EXPLORER WAS TAKEN INTO HARRISON FORD, WELLINGTON OH ON MAY 5/15/2015 FOR NHTSA RECALL 15V171 (INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SPRING). DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP SAME DAY. EXPLORER WAS AND STILL HAVING SIGNALS AS FRONT DRIVER SIDE AJAR. FOR A WHILE THE DOOR HAD QUIT TO MY KNOWLEDGE. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY 9/29/2016 EXPLORER WAS TAKEN INTO DEALERSHIP FOR CONTINUOUS DISPLACEMENT FOR DOOR BEING "AJAR". DEALERSHIP ABOVE PRINTED THE NOTES ABOUT CAR HAVING FACTORY RECALL BEING DONE. EVEN THE SERVICE DESK CLERK QUESTIONED SAID NOTES FROM TECHNICIAN. AS A RESULT I WAS CHARGED $106.94 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, AND EXPLORER WAS NOT FIXED. I EVEN ASKED WHY WOULD MY VIN SHOW UP ON THIS WEBSITE " NHTSA" . NO ANSWER. THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE, PER MY INFORMATION SCREEN. IT CONCERNS ME IF IT IS NOT CLOSED, COULD IT BE THE SPRING FROM THE RECALL THAT WAS NOT FIXED? I DO HAVE AN INVOICE ATTACHED TO SHOW WORK WAS SUPPOSEDLY COMPLETED ON SAID DAY. ALSO TODAY I WAS CHARGED $2.55 FOR A HANDLE I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE OF TODAY 9/29/2016
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AT TIMES WILL NOT LATCH, HAS SWUNG OPEN WHILE DRIVING, AND THE DOOR HANDLE AT TIMES IS ALMOST FALLING OFF.
CORROSION BUBBLES ON HOOD. IT IS A SAHEM ON A 2013 TRUCK.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A BACK ROAD THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OF MY FORD EXPLORER SUDDENLY OPENED FOR NO REASON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE SUDDEN DOOR OPENING CAUSED ME TO SWERVE AND I HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR ON A SIGN POST. UPON EXAMINATION AFTER PULLING OVER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE APPEARED TO BE DEFECTIVE. IT HAD FALLEN APART, A SMALL LATCH IN THE HANDLE WAS BROKEN CAUSING IT COME LOOSE ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE DOOR FOR NO REASON. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE, THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ENDED UP HAVING TO BE REPLACED. DUE TO RESOURCEFULNESS OF MY HUSBAND, WE WERE ABLE TO OBTAIN PARTS AND REPAIR THE DAMAGES OURSELVES BUT THE COST OF THE PARTS ALONE TOTALED IN EXCESS OF $400.00.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND THEN NOT LONG MEANING MONTHS 6 MONTHS OR SO AFTER OWNING IT AFTER A RAIN I STARTED HEARING SPLASHING SOUNDS FROM THE BACK AND I FOUND WATER ALL IN THE BACK WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS LOCATED AND THEN WATER ALL IN THE BACK SEAT FLOOR AND UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE CAR AS THEY BLAMED ME FOR NOT ROLLING UP MY WINDOWS AND AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE OWNER THEY WERE FORCED TO LOOK AND FOUND THE BACK HATCH HAD A CRACK UP UNDER THE RACK AREA, WHICH WAS CAUSING WATER TO COME IN THE CAR, THE SUN ROOF SMALL TUBES CLOGGED AND COVERED BY A RUBBER LINING CAUSING WATER TO BACK UP INTO THE BACK SEAT FLOORS. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS SOMETHING I NEEDED TO TAKE CARE OF AS I NEEDED TO BLOW ARE PRESSURE IN THESE SMALL TUBES OFTEN TO CLEAR DEBRIS TO PREVENT WATER FROM BACKING UP AND GOING INTO THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND THE CAR SMELLS OF MOLD AND STILL IS TAKING IN SO MUCH WATER AND THE FLOOR I FEEL IS GOING TO RUST OUT AND RENDER THE CAR USELESS. AS I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS WITH SUNROOFS AND NEVER HAVE I EVER HAD TO DO THAT AND OTHERS WHO OWN THIS KIND OF CAR DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE.
IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE, THE WINDSHIELD TRIM FLEW OFF THE VEHICLE STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE TRIM CAME OFF BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE VEHICLE.
3RD ROW DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT LEAKS WATER. MULTIPLE ONLINE INQUIRIES FROM OTHERS. AFFECTS USABILITY OF THE SEATBELT.
EXHAUST FUMES IN OCCUPANT COMPARTMENT. WHILE ACCELERATING EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST THE EXPLORER. OUR 2013 FORD EDGE ALSO HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
AS WITH MOST FORD'S MY EXPLORER HAS SIGNIFICANT PAINT BUBBLING ON THE HOOD. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD'S AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED IT TO ME AS AN OWNER. I ONLY NOTICED IT AFTER AN UNRELATED FENDER BENDER AND THE BODY SHOP POINTED IT OUT TO ME. MY VEHICLE WAS ALREADY OUT OF WARRANTY BY A FEW THOUSAND MILES BUT CLEARLY THE PROBLEM DID NOT JUST OCCUR AFTER THEY WARRANTY ENDED BUT I NEVER THOUGH TO LOOK AT THE PAINT ON MY HOOD. IF FORD HAD DONE THE RIGHT THING AND TOLD OWNERS TO LOOK OUT FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT AND CORRECT ANY DEFECTIVE HOODS REGARDLESS OF THE WARRANTY, IT WOULD HAVE SHOWN SOME LOYALTY TO ITS CUSTOMERS. I AM DONE BUYING FORD'S AND WILL ADVISE ANYONE I KNOW NOT TO BUY FORD.
ALUMINUM HOOD CORROSION CAUSING PAINT TO BUBBLE AND CHIP.
MY FORD EXPLORER LTD. IS ABOUT 3.5 YRS. OLD. EVER SINCE IT HIT ABOUT 40,000 MILES, THE PAINT ON THE HOOD HAS STARTED TO BUBBLE AND IS PEELING/CHIPPING OFF FROM THE FRONT EDGE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH BRINGS UP A NUMBER OF RESULTS OF PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES (HTTPS://WWW.GOOGLE.COM/?GWS_RD=SSL#Q=FORD%20EXPLORER%20PAINT%20BUBBLING). IT'S VERY TROUBLING THAT A $45,000 CAR THAT IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD ALREADY HAS BUBBLING PAINT AND A CORRODING HOOD AND THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A PERVASIVE ISSUE THAT MANY OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH. WHILE THE DAMAGE IS NOT THAT EXTENSIVE RIGHT NOW, IT GETS WORSE EACH DAY AND IS GOING TO EVENTUALLY LEAD TO RUST AND COMPLETE CORROSION IF IT'S NOT DEALT WITH UPFRONT. I'VE ATTACHED A COUPLE PHOTOS THAT SHOWS THE CURRENT STATE AT ABOUT 61,000 MILES. I'VE TRIED TO REACH OUT TO FORD A NUMBER OF TIMES AND THE ONLY RESPONSE I CAN GET FROM THEM IS THAT IT'S THE DEALERSHIP'S ISSUE WHETHER THEY CAN DO ANYTHING FOR IT AND WHEN I'VE BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE FORD TELLS THEM NOTHING IS COVERED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS WATER WHERE THE SPARE TIRE WAS LOCATED. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS MOISTURE ON THE CARPET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
PAINT IS BUBBLING AND SEPARATING FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOOD ON THE TOP AND UNDERNEATH OF THE SURFACE. NO BREAK IN PAINT NOTICED FROM THE SURFACE. SHOWED TO DEALER AND THEY SENT ON TO FORD WITH NO RESOLUTION.
IN SEPTEMBER 2014 THE DRIVER'S SIDE "A" PILLAR COVER/EXTERIOR WINDSHIELD MOLDING FLEW OFF OF MY 2013 EXPLORER. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 55MPH ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY. IT WAS REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT NO COST BECAUSE WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. FAST FORWARD TO MAY 2016 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE "A" PILLAR COVER/EXTERIOR WINDSHIELD MOLDING BLEW OFF ON THE SAME TWO LANE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 55MPH. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED OUT OF POCKET.
PAINT IS BUBBLING AND SEPARATING FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOOD ON THE TOP AND UNDERNEATH OF THE SURFACE. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 65 MPH AND MY DRIVER SIDE MOLDINGS/TRIM ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF, WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK BEHIND ME TO HAVE TO SWERVE. HAD IT BEEN A SEDAN OR COMPACT CAR IT WOULD HAVE CAUSE ACCIDENT. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T IN THIS CASE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS COMMON AND IT A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN, THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE AND THE NEW DESIGN KEEPS THE AIR FROM GETTING BEHIND THE MOLDING CAUSING IT TO COME OFF. IF THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSE OR COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
PIECE OF TRIM ALONG THE WIND SHIELD FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 65 M.P.H.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO SECURE. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000. UPDATED 06/29/16*LJ *CN
DOOR AJAR ISSUE. THE DOOR DOESNT WANT TO LATCH AND THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. DOESNT MATTER IF YOUR DRIVING OR STATIONARY THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. WHILE DRIVING IT WILL TELL YOU ONBOARD THAT YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR AND PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR. VERY DANGEROUS.
A PILLAR EXTERIOR TRIM COVER PIECE FLEW OFF ON THE EXPRESSWAY, A FRIENDS HAS DONE THE SAME THING AND AFTER CHECKING ON LINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMONS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THIRD ROW SEAT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SEAT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LEAK BY THE TOP OF THE REAR HATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE PAINT IS BUBBLING AND FLAKING OFF THE EDGE OF THE HOOD. FORD REFUSED TO ASSIST.
PAINT CORROSION/BUBBLING ON EDGE OF ALUMINUM HOOD. FORD WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. COST TO FIX ISSUE IS APPROXIMATELY $500-$750. CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING ISSUE DURING PAINT PROCESS WITH THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 65MPH, THE MOLDINGS BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS. NOW I AM LEFT WITH ALL THE NUTS AND BOLTS EXPOSED AND FORD WILL NOT COVER, INSTEAD THEY WANT ME TO PAY $500 TO FIX IT. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE READ ONLINE OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING TO MANY OTHERS WHO WERE TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY AS WELL. FORD IS LUCKY NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY HURT, I WANT THIS INVESTIGATED SO NO FUTURE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN .
I WAS WASHING MY CAR THIS WEEKEND AND NOTICED BUBBLES UNDER THE PAINT ON THE EDGE OF MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT IT WAS RUST AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER. ONCE AT THE BODY SHOP THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN MANY FORDS WITH ALUMINUM HOODS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME CAUSE I WAS OVER 36K MILES. APPARENTLY THIS PROBLEM GOES BACK TO 2007. I COULD NOT BELIEVE FORD HAD THE AUDACITY TO KNOWINGLY PRACTICE A MANUFACTURING PROCESS THAT HAD UNDESIRABLE RESULTS. I CALLED FORD AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. TO MAKE IT WORSE, THEY CLAIM IT WAS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE, HENCE NO RECALL. WAITING TO HEAR FROM A SUPERVISOR, BUT NOW I KNOW I WILL NOT GET A FAVORABLE RESPONSE UNTIL WE RECEIVE RESULTS OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN NJ. BTW, MY ONE DEALER CLAIMS A CONSIDERABLE LARGER AMOUNT OF REPAIRS THAN COMPLAINTS YOU SEE HERE.
PAINT ON HOOD HAS CORRODED CAUSING THE PAINT TO PEEL OFF. IT IS HAPPENING ALL ALONG BOTTOM EDGE OF HOOD. CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FRACTURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V171000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
PAINT IS BUBBLING UP ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAY ITS OUT OF WARRANTY SORRY. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A 40,00 DOLLAR CAR.
CORROSION (OXIDATION) ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. NOT NECESSARILY A SAFETY CONCERN BUT A CONCERN NON THE LESS. I ENTERED, THROUGH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, A PRIOR APPROVAL CLAIM FOR THE DAMAGE AND WAS TURNED DOWN, FORD SAYS THEY DON'T WARRANTY RUST CLAIMS UNLESS THE PART HAS RUSTED THROUGH. SEARCHING ON GOOGLE, "FORD HOOD RUSTING", I SEE THAT THIS IS A NATIONAL PROBLEM AND THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE, YET THEY CONTINUE TO DENY CLAIMS.
PAINT ON HOOD IS BUBBLING. DEALER WILL NOT HONOR FORD'S 5-YEAR EXTENDED CORROSION COVERAGE PERIOD BECAUSE THE BODY PANEL IS NOT SHOWING A HOLE "THOUGH" THE BODY PANEL. THE WARRANTY DEFINES THE COVERAGE ONLY IF THE BODY PANEL BECOMES PERFORATED DUE TO CORROSION FROM NORMAL USE. HOWEVER, NOWHERE IN THE WARRANTY DOES IT STATE IT MUST BE THROUGH THE BODY PANELS. IN MY BOOK, THE DEFINITION OF PERFORATION IS A PATTERN OF HOLES, AND THE DEFINITION OF A HOLE IS A HOLLOW PLACE IN A SOLID BODY OR A CAVITY OR A PIT. THE PAINT IS DEFINITELY SHOWING A PATTERN OF CAVITIES OR PITS YET THE DEALER DOES NOT AGREE.
EXHAUST IS ENTERING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT THROUGH THE FRONT AND REAR AIR CONDITIONING VENTS WHEN THE ENGINE IS ACCELERATED TO 3500 RPM OR ABOVE. I NOTICED THIS CONDITION WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN,WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR OR ACCELERATING TO ENTER THE FREEWAY, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS REALLY EVIDENT ON A RECENT DRIVING VACATION FROM KANSAS CITY TO SEATTLE WA. WE WENT THROUGH SEVERAL MOUNTAINOUS STATES AND IT WAS TERRIBLE, THE CAR WAS CONSTANTLY ACCELERATING ABOVE 3500 RPM TO MAINTAIN SPEED ON UP HILL GRADES,THE CAR CONSTANTLY REEKED OF EXHAUST. WE HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN TO KEEP IT AIRED OUT. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY FORD DEALER WHEN I RETURNED FROM THE TRIP,THEY SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I AM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH FORD OVER THIS,I HAVE PURCHASED A CARBON MONOXIDE METER WHICH I KEEP IN THE CAR AND HAVE RECORDED CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CABIN AS HIGH AS 15 PPM DURING ACCELERATION. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED,I HAVE READ THAT I AM NOT ALONE,THIS PROBLEM EXISTS ON FORD EXPLORERS MANUFACTURED FROM 2011 - 2015. WHY ?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V171000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WITH JUST OVER 37,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE HOOD WAS BUBBLING AND FLAKING OFF. IT HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN OCCURRING LONG BEFORE I FIRST NOTICED IT. I BROUGHT IT TO MY FORD DEALER WHO TOLD ME IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THOSE VEHICLES BECAUSE THE HOOD IS MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM AND VIBRATION FROM DRIVING CAUSES THE PAINT TO FRACTURE WHICH RESULTS IN THIS PROBLEM. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAD OVER 36,000 MILES, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN THERE WHEN IT STILL FELL UNDER THAT WARRANTY. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL SITES WITH AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS FROM 2013 AND 2014 EXPLORER OWNERS WHO WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. (A FEW EXAMPLES OF THE SITES I SAW ARE CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, EDMUNDS.COM, AND RV.NET. A GOOGLE SEARCH WILL PROVIDE MANY MORE). I THEN CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECTLY AND SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE THERE. THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL WAS GOING TO BE ISSUED, AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE REGARDING MY SPECIFIC PROBLEM. AFTER COMPLAINING PROFUSELY AND HAVING MY ISSUE ELEVATED TO A REGIONAL MANAGER, FORD AGREED TO PARTIALLY PAY FOR THE REPAIR. HOWEVER, I (ALONG WITH THE MANY OTHERS WHO ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM) FEEL THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED FULLY BY FORD. WHILE THIS MAY NOT BE A "SAFETY" ISSUE, I AM HOPING THAT THIS COMPLAINT WILL AT LEAST HAVE SOMEONE FROM YOUR AGENCY LOOK INTO THIS MATTER TO SEE IF FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. AFTER ALL, A VEHICLE THAT IS ONE TO TWO YEARS OLD SHOULD NOT BE DETERIORATING IN THIS MANNER. ANY HELP OR INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU! *TR
MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED RUST BUBBLES ON MY HOOD ON OR ABOUT JUNE OF 2015 . IT IS VERY AWFUL LOOKING FOR A VEHICLE WHICH IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND PARKED WHERE THERE IS NO RIVER WATERS.
PAINT IS BUBBLING ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, EXHAUST FUMES ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN PLACED SILICONE AND SEAL AROUND THE BUMPER AND HOLES AND REPROGRAMMED THE HVAC. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. MA 10/8 UPDATED 11/02/2017*CN
INTERIOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR LATCHES ARE LOOSE AND DON'T HAVE ANY RESISTANCE ON THEM. BECAUSE OF THIS THE DOORS CAN EASILY BE OPENED WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT AT ANY SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR DOORS WOULD NOT UNLATCH WITHOUT ASSISTANCE FROM THE DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER. THE CHILD LOCK WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THAT MANNER. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THE DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGERS WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM FORD DEALER AS A PRE-CERTIFIED VEHICLE AT DELIVERY FOUND THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD HAD BUBBLING PAINT, DEALER TRIED TO HAVE FORD COVER THE REPAIR BUT FORD DENIED THE CLAIM DUE TO VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE, VEHICLE IS 2 YRS OLD AND ONLY 2200 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH TO HAPPEN WITH ALUMINUM HOODS SINCE 2002 AND FORD HAS PREVIOUS TSB'S FOR OLDER VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
PAINT BUBBLING AT EDGE OF HOOD NO DAMAGE TO HOOD. *TR
NOTICED THAT MY PAINT IS PEELING AND FLAKING ON INSIDE PART OF LEFT REAR DRIVERS DOOR RIGHT TO BARE METAL AWAITING TO HEAR WHAT FORD IS GOING TO DO VEHICLE STILL UNDER FULL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. ALSO SAME DOOR NOT CLOSING PROPERLY ALSO BEING ADDRESSED. *TR
THE CAR'S HOOD HAS DEVELOPED RUST FROM THE UNDER THE CLEAR COAT AND ALONG THE WELDED SEAMS THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

EXHAUST ENTERS THE VEHICLE CABIN ANY TIME THE ENGINE IS OPERATED AT HIGHER RPMS, SUCH AS CLIMBING A LONG HILL OR TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND PASSING OTHER TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (NEW), BUT WE INITIALLY THOUGHT THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM SURROUNDING VEHICLES. WE SHORTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE EXHAUST ODOR OCCURRED WITHOUT THE PRESENCE OF ANY OTHER TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER WHO CONTACTED FORD ENGINEERING FOR A FIX. THE "FIX" DIDN'T HELP. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ESTABLISHED A "CASE" IN AUGUST, 2013, AND WAS PROMISED THE PROBLEM WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. FORD TOLD US TO OPERATE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM IN THE RECIRCULATION MODE UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. THIS ONLY AMPLIFIED THE ODOR BECAUSE THE EXHAUST STILL ENTERED BUT WAS THEN TRAPPED IN THE CABIN. AT FORD'S DIRECTION THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT SAT FOR 3 WEEKS BUT WAS NOT TOUCHED. THE DEALER THEN CALLED AND ASKED US TO COME GET THE CAR BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. SINCE THEN, DESPITE MY CONTINUING EFFORTS, I HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY STALLED AND TOLD "WE'RE WORKING ON IT". THE ODOR IS PRESENT YEAR ROUND BUT SEEMS TO BE STRONGER IN WARMER WEATHER. *TR
2013 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE KEYPAD ENTRY SYSTEM ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE KEYPAD IS ENCLOSED IN A PLASTIC CASING AND OPENS MAYBE ONE OUT OF THREE TRIES, WHICH MAKES IT VIRTUALLY USELESS AS AN ENTRY INTO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADMITTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT THERE WAS NO FIX.
WATER COMING IN THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE THIRD ROW PASSENGER SEATBELT..IT THEN DRIPS ON THE SEAT ..HAD IT AT THE DEALER THREE TIMES ALREADY..THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO FIX IT. *TR
RECENTLY TRADED A 2011 FORD EXPLORER FOR A 2013. THE 2011 DEVELOPED A CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE SEAM ON THE FRONT UNDERSIDE EDGE OF THE HOOD. WE DID NOT WANT OUR 12K MILE CAR PAINTED ON SO WE TRADED IT FOR A 2013 FORD EXPLORER WE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED. 3 WEEKS AND 300 MILES LATER I OPENED THE HOOD WHILE CLEANING THE VEHICLE AND THE CORROSION HAS ALREADY STARTED CAUSING PAINT TO POP OFF THE UNDERSIDE ALONG THE SEAM SEALER. SO FAR FORD HAS FAILED TO TAKE ANY ACTION. FORD HAS A CORROSION / PAINT ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND OTHER'S WITH ALUMINUM HOODS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER LOWER DOOR SEALS WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH A SLIP RESISTANT SAFETY TREAD. THE PASSENGER SLIPPED AND FELL WHEN ENTERING THE DOOR AS HER FOOT WAS PLACED ON THE DOOR SEAL. THE PASSENGER SLIGHTLY BUMPED HER HEAD AND SUSTAINED AN ABRASION TO THE LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE DOOR SEAL WAS A MANUFACTURERS DESIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250.
