NHTSA Campaign: 24V440000

Component: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Escape two-wheel drive vehicles equipped with adaptive cruise control. The cruise control radar module was misaligned during production.

Risk: Misalignment of the radar module can result in the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) misclassifying an overhead object as an object in the vehicle's path, causing the vehicle to unexpectedly slow and/or stop. Other safety systems that depend on the radar model (Pre-Collision Assist, Forward Collision Warning, and Auto Emergency Braking) could have diminished or lost function. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will adjust the angle of the radar module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 3, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S39.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your engine keeps shutting off unexpectedly, and this has been happening for several months even after multiple dealership visits. The stalling has occurred at least 5 times since your last service appointment, including twice today and several times while driving on the interstate. The dealership will likely need to perform a comprehensive engine diagnostic to identify the root cause, which could involve checking fuel delivery, ignition timing, or engine control module issues.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your 2024 Ford Escape has a documented defect in the engine system that has caused chemical residue to enter the cabin, potentially affecting occupant health during operation. An authorized Ford dealership has confirmed the presence of this defect but stated they have no established repair or decontamination procedure. Despite these health concerns, Ford has indicated the vehicle is safe to drive, but you believe it remains a safety hazard. Resolving this issue will likely require Ford to develop and implement a decontamination or engine component replacement procedure.

Your car's dashboard warned you about overheating and you had to pull over on a highway, which created a safety hazard. When you checked the engine code with a diagnostic reader, it showed your cylinder head was overheating. Ford has a known service procedure (SSM 52219) for this issue that may involve cleaning metal debris from the cylinder head or replacing it entirely.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your car has needed 4 replacement 12-volt batteries since March 2024, which is unusual for a new vehicle. The first sign of battery failure is that the interior lights don't turn on when you open the driver or passenger door, creating a safety concern when entering your dark car at night—you're exposed on the street while your eyes adjust to the darkness. The repeated battery failures also mean your car may leave you stranded and needing jump starts. Diagnosing why your electrical system is draining the battery so quickly will likely require a full electrical system inspection and possible replacement of a faulty component.

Your 2024 Ford Escape is subject to a recall (Campaign 26V091000) for an electrical system issue, but the parts needed to fix it aren't available yet. Your dealer has confirmed the parts are on backorder. You haven't experienced any actual problems with your vehicle yet, but the delay in obtaining replacement parts has extended beyond what you consider reasonable.

Your front seat heaters won't automatically lower the temperature once they reach a high level — they just stay hot. Unlike previous Ford models you've owned, these heaters require you to manually turn them down to avoid potential burns from prolonged exposure to the heat. The dealership and Ford haven't been notified or looked into this issue yet.

Your car stalls and loses power when you're pulling into an intersection, which has nearly caused several accidents. This happens daily, even though the dealership can't find any diagnostic codes or warning lights. You may experience this issue repeatedly without warning when accelerating from a stop.

Your car stalls for a few seconds after you stop and start it, then restarts on its own. This has been happening for several months despite two service visits. The stalling recently occurred while you were crossing the interstate, which created a safety hazard. The dealer has scheduled another repair attempt for February 19, 2026.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your 2024 Escape's advanced safety systems (like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning) have had ongoing failures that required multiple service visits. When the dealership performed a master reset of your vehicle's modem to try to fix these issues, it erased all your FordPass account access, safety alert history, and diagnostic data—making it impossible to verify whether these safety features are working properly or to track what problems occurred. The underlying safety defects were never actually fixed by this reset. Restoring your vehicle's safety system monitoring and diagnostic capability will likely require reprogramming the modem and re-establishing the FordPass connection and alert logging system.

Filed: Dec 2025

Multiple safety features on your 2024 Ford Escape—including blind spot detection, cross-traffic alert, park aid, pre-collision assist, and front camera—have stopped working reliably and display constant warning messages. Your vehicle has been at the dealership for over 62 days total (38+ days continuously) with Ford engineering unable to find a fix or provide a repair timeline, even after replacing a major electronic module. These failed systems create safety risks when changing lanes, backing up, parking, or during potential collisions. The repair will likely require Ford to develop and test a software or hardware solution for the vehicle's central electronic control systems.

Electrical System,lane Departure,back Over Prevention1 issue
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION
Filed: Nov 2025

Your 2024 Ford Escape isn't recording safety warnings from its lane departure and backup prevention systems, even after multiple repair attempts since November. This means critical safety alerts aren't being saved or logged, making it difficult to diagnose what's going wrong and preventing you from knowing when these safety features have failed. The lane departure and backup warning systems themselves are also unreliable, which could make lane changes and reversing less safe. A fix will likely require Ford to replace or reprogram the alert recording module and ADAS control systems.

NHTSA #: 11701434
Lane Departure,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
criticalLANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Nov 2025

Your 2024 Ford Escape has had multiple failed safety features since March 2025, including lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, and parking sensors. The vehicle has been at the dealership since November 3rd, and even after replacing the collision detection module on November 14th, the warning system still won't function properly and Ford engineering cannot fix it. This is the 13th documented failure of your car's safety systems, and Ford has stated the fault codes won't clear. Resolving this will likely require extensive diagnostic work, module reprogramming, or replacement of multiple ADAS (driver assistance) system components.

Filed: Apr 2026

Your radio display keeps turning off while you're driving and when the car is idling, and it happens randomly. Ford issued a recall (Campaign 25V315000) to fix a back-over prevention issue, but when the dealer tried to install the required software update to the radio control module, the update failed and the dealer couldn't complete the repair even with help from Ford. The repair still hasn't been fixed, and you've had to wait longer than expected.

Forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car's adaptive speed control system is reacting to bridge capacity signs (like weight limit signs) in addition to actual speed limit signs, causing unexpected sudden braking. When your vehicle passes a bridge sign showing a 20-ton limit, it brakes hard to slow down to 20 mph, even though the actual speed limit remains 50 mph. This creates a safety hazard for both your passengers and following traffic who don't expect the sudden deceleration. The fix will likely involve a software update to prevent the adaptive cruise control from misinterpreting weight capacity signs as speed limit changes.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your turn signal click sound is too quiet to hear while driving, especially on the highway, which makes it hard to know if the signal is actually on. You nearly had an accident because you weren't aware your turn signal was active when another driver pulled in front of you. The dealer confirmed this is how all 2024 Escapes are designed, but you believe it's a safety hazard. Fixing this would likely require adjusting the speaker volume for the turn signal audible alert or replacing the turn signal relay or switch component.

Fuel/propulsion System1 issue
highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Dec 2025

While driving slowly through a parking lot exit at about 15 mph, your car suddenly stalled and stopped responding to the gas pedal. The car was still in drive but had no power. After turning the car off and restarting it a couple minutes later, it drove normally for the 2-mile trip home. This unexpected stall in traffic could have created a dangerous situation if it had happened in a busy construction zone. The issue may require fuel system diagnostics or hybrid system inspection to identify why the engine lost power.

Your infotainment system screen went blank when you started your vehicle, with no warning lights showing. This happened twice, and your dealer determined the computer processing unit needed to be replaced. Ford was notified and walked you through a system reset. The issue occurred around 28,000 miles. The fix will likely involve replacing or reprogramming the infotainment system's main control unit.
