Jun 2014

NHTSA Campaign: 14V002000

Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Edge vehicles manufactured from September 2, 2010, through April 25, 2013, and equipped with 2.0L engines. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge. The safety recall began on February 25, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 13S13. IMPORTANT: This recall supersedes recall 12V-438. All vehicles that have been remedied under the previous recall need to have the current remedy applied.

NHTSA Campaign: 14V393000

Component: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

Risk: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Your brake pedal is losing pressure and responsiveness, starting intermittently when hitting bumps but now completely failing. You've already replaced the brake pads, rotors, and calipers without resolving the issue. The brake system likely has an internal failure that will require replacing the master cylinder and possibly bleeding the entire brake system to restore proper function.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your brake system has had repeated problems with the calipers locking up, even after replacing the brake booster, master cylinder, calipers, brake pads, and rotors. The technician suspected the brake lines might be the next issue to address. This is a serious problem that affects your ability to stop safely.

Your 2013 Ford Edge's anti-lock brake (ABS) module has failed, leaving your car without anti-lock braking capability and making it unsafe to drive. Multiple Ford dealerships have told you the part should be recalled and isn't available until next year or later. You've had difficulty getting the dealership to help without first paying diagnostic fees, which you weren't informed about initially. Getting your ABS module repaired or replaced will be necessary to restore your braking system's safety features.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your ABS (anti-lock braking) control module has failed, meaning your anti-lock brakes no longer work. When this happens, multiple warning lights turn on (ABS, Service Advancetrac, and brake warning), and if you brake hard, your brakes may lock up unexpectedly, which is a serious safety issue. The part needed to fix this is currently on long backorder from Ford, and dealerships are unable to obtain it for replacement.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your brake pedal suddenly sank almost to the floor while driving, making braking feel unresponsive. This happened intermittently at first, then became permanent—and mechanics confirmed the problem exists even though the car's computer showed no errors. Ford dealership and mechanics suspect the ABS control unit (HCU) is faulty, but replacement parts are unavailable to fix it. The issue may require replacement of the ABS hydraulic control unit or a complete brake system diagnostic to identify the root cause.

Your backup camera intermittently fails—it may display an error message saying it's unavailable, show an upside-down or distorted image, or go black while you're backing up. Sometimes it works normally, but this unreliability creates a safety risk since you can't rely on it to see what's behind your vehicle. The issue may require replacing the camera unit or repairing its electrical connection.

Your backup camera doesn't work reliably—sometimes it displays an upside-down image, shows a black screen, or displays an error message. Ford acknowledged there's a known issue with rear backup cameras on your vehicle and indicated a recall hasn't been issued yet, so the dealer won't cover it under warranty.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your rear turn signals and hazard lights aren't working due to a faulty body control module that needs replacement, which creates a serious safety issue since you can't signal other drivers when turning or changing lanes. Multiple electrical problems followed a radiator fan replacement, including a non-functional backup camera showing only a black screen, doors that won't lock from inside, interior lights staying on too long after shutting off, and dome lights that won't turn off in reverse—making backing up dangerous without camera assistance. You're also noticing a lingering gasoline smell after refueling and wondering about a potential fuel leak, plus experiencing poor fuel economy. Fixing these issues will likely require replacement of the body control module and diagnosis of the electrical system damage that occurred during the fan installation, as well as inspection of the fuel system for leaks.
