My backup camera continues to not work and says I need to contact the dealership. When I contact the place that I got it from it says it's not covered under their warranty in the contact Ford. When I contact Ford they said there was some rear backup camera thing going on and that the recall had not been issued yet? Also I've been having issues with it connecting to any kind of device, it will say connecting phone and load and load and load and never connect or the phone will be connected and say it's not connected so calls and stuff won't come through and when calls you come through it switches to aux and then you can't hear the person who's speaking which I find dangerous because then you have to touch your phone while driving. Another issue that I'm having is when I fill up my tank it is saying for example if I put $40 in and it's the same price it was the day before and I have to fill up my tank I would get different readings so sometimes I might get like 370 in other days I might get like 205 which makes it difficult to really gauge how much gas you have. Have had multiple times where I've had to completely reset the infotainment system because it does not work and you can't push any buttons on it including the buttons that are below that infotainment system that control tuning seeking and temperatures of the car and do you think that there's some electrical problems somewhere that could be causing all of these issues.

The rear view camera displays either a blank, distorted, or upside down image. This issue is identical to the recall notice 25V572, for a 2016 Ford Edge, which we also own. My son received his drivers license three months ago. While he realizes he must turn and look, the back up camera is an invaluable tool to prevent backing accidents. We have shown a dealer previously and were quoted a price that is too expensive for us to repair. The camera system was looked at by a service advisor. Ironically, the advisor remarked that this is a common issue with 2013 Edges. There is a caution triangle that periodically appears that reads back up camera is disabled, or something to that effect.

The backup camera is sometimes upside down, flashes, or won't come on at all. Various things other than functioning properly. I've completed the Sync update and that didn't resolve the issue. This started happening around the same time newer Ford models were showing the exact same issues.

A few years ago, I brought my Edge into a dealership in Shawnee Mission, KS (Shawnee Mission Ford) for the rearview camera malfunctioning. What occurs is, once I put the car in reverse, the camera will, sometimes come on, once I begin backing out, the camera will shut off and a message will appear. On some occasions, the camera will operate, but 9 times out of 10 it will always go black with a pop up message. I want my vehicle to be included in the recall if the backup camera is the issue please.

The backup camera stopped working consistently in June 2025. Safety recall has been issued for 2015 vehicles and newer, but not for 2013 and 2014 years. Ford dealer said the camera needs to be replaced for $740, but numerous online comments show other Ford owners with the same issue starting at the same time. I believe this is a software issue, and would like 2013 Ford Edge to be added to safety recall.

The rearview camera has not been working correctly for now over 8 years or more. The rearview camera issue causes a blank or distorted image on the center display. It is now displaying the image upside down as well. There are currently other Ford vehicle vehicles that are being recalled for this issue. I wanna know why our vehicle is not included in this. It is a 2013 Ford edge which I have talked to other people that own the same year have the same issues. This is very upsetting because this is an issue with other vehicles that are not included in those recalls.

There is currently a recall on back up cameras for ford edges 2015-2019, the cameras are upside down, blacking out, lots of issues. My edge is a 2013 and I am having the same issue. I am unable to use the camera as it’s upside down and when it’s not upside down, it’s flashing off and on. It’s hazardous and this should fall under the recall as well. I was told since I have a 2013, it does not fall under the recall. Which it should.

Water pump replacement needs to be done on my ford edge. Driving down the highway my ford edge started over heating out of no where. When I pulled over check everything out. Discovered I was leaking antifreeze, and the leak was coming from the water pump area. Now my car is sitting due to can’t find a shop to replace it for a decent price . Was told this was common issue with my car and there’s big lawsuit over it due to not being a recall issue

Brake booster went bad on the vehicle after 8 years. Brake pedal had to be pressed to the floor. The fuel line had a leak so anytime gas was put into the vehicle it would leak down the frame to the ground. Wiring for the back up camera goes in & out. I’m afraid of the brakes not working & a fire being caused by the leaking fuel or faulty electrical lines connecting the rear camera to the display.

The sun roof failed to close when it was wide open. I manually pushed it close most of the way, but could not get it to completely close. A google search has shown that other Ford Edges have had this problem. I have garbage bags taped around the opening to help prevent water getting in, but water still has gotten in which can cause damage.

Tire Pressure Sensor Fault (TPS) Hissing sound when applying brakes. Brake pedal is hard and very difficult to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. When parked or at a traffic light you constantly hear air being released and vehicle will boggle for a few seconds then stall on me. When I bring the vehicle to a stop I have to put it in park, and pump my brakes to stop the air from leaking to prevent it from stalling on me. Over all the vehicle is a huge safety concern and a hazard to have on the road.

My brakes are hard to press sometimes hard to stop. Jerky and then hard then soft. I read brake booster master cylinder or hcu All Ford's mistakes. Still no recall. I'm outside of the extended warranty because I just bought this 3 months ago and it's over 10 years old only 115000 miles on it. If I die I'm having my family sue ford. Codes p2 195 and p2 197 are now showing after a week and a half of this problem. Taking it to ford Tuesday. Calling customer service Monday. Shame on ford

I was issued a customer satisfaction program #13N02 while replacing brake booster helped, bypassing the fact the master cylinder fluid leaked into brake booster and was not part of repair is just ridiculous. Until master cylinder is repaired, problem will not be resolved! Please remedy by including master cylinder with brake booster 13N02. My brake pedal still goes to floor, I am requesting your immediate response

Other similar car with the same door latch assembly in ford cars have been recalled, why not mine. Multitudes of Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same problem. Just look online. The backup camera stopped working properly years ago. When in reverse, the camera is either completely a black screen or upside down. I have been quoted many times by Ford that it would be $500-1,000 for me to fix this. This is a common issue with this vehicle make/model. Many other people have notified NHTSA of this issue, as well and Ford says this is VERY common yet they take no responsibility to fix it. This creates blind spots and a safety issue while backing up.

Shift to Park warning light comes on even though the car is in park. This component or system failure is known to ford dealers but they state that it is not on the recall listing. It should be because this is a known issue with ford on the 2013 Ford Edge. It requires the whole shifting assembly to be replaced at the cost of the owner and not the dealership. My car is available for inspection. I have reported this to the Ken Garff St George Ford/Lincoln service and it should be in my file. THis should be a recall issue and not replaced at the cost of the owner

On my way to work early morning dark outside the water pump which is timing chain driving failed fluid poured out causing smoke and hard to see out the windshield causing me to have to pull to the side of the road not able to safely see, dark road no traffic 30 miles away from home mechanic told me 3000.00 $ to fix the problem ford should of never built a vehicle like this knowingly that the water pump was not accessible you have to tear the whole engine down, i owe more on the car then what it's worth and to fix the vehicle it would even cost me more then what it is worth. Now I'm making payments on a car that I can not drive

My issue is that there is a door ajar alarm that I brought my vehicle into the dealer to fix. With this alarm you are unable to lock your doors while inside the vehicle. Someone tried to steal our vehicle from us with us inside, just walked up and opened the door. The attempt was unsuccessful and we got away but it had me thinking that if we had small children in our vehicle, they could easily open the door and fall out. The dealer said this is a known issue and it would cost over $500 to fix but recommended NOT fixing it because it would just happen again, it's a bad part/design they said. I did call Ford Motor Company and they advised me to report this to you so I'm reporting this before someone gets killed from this known issue.

The component involved was the Throttle Body. Late post but this happened 7/5/22. The vehicle unexpectedly (and without any warning) lost power while I was driving on the freeway. All the power was off in the vehicle. Fortunately the freeway wasn't as crowded as it normally is and I was able to coast over the shoulder. I let the vehicle rest and tried to drive (while on the shoulder to get to a safer/wider part) again but it quickly lost power again. When I got to a safer part of the shoulder I called for a tow truck. After having a previous issue with this vehicle (brake booster went bad which caused the brake pedal to get hard to press and car would also shut off) I looked into other common issue with this vehicle make and model. I read the other horror stories of this vehicle losing power while driving and hoped to you know who that this wouldn't happen to me while my child was with me. Ford had a recall for the brake booster issue but it didn't match my VIN. Apparently Ford supposedly narrowed the issue down to a few manufacturing sites and did not include all vehicles made during those years. It is clearly a systemic issue for this vehicle, just like the throttle body issue ( and others) the Ford is too cheap to fix! I am going to assume this is the same issue with my throttle body not being recalled for my specific VIN since my vehicle wasn't made at a certain manufacturing site (even though Ford is clearly using the same parts on their vehicles). It's BS and dangerous! They don't care about us, just profits but that's really no surprise nowadays with these companies. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to switch vehicles or else I would. This was my first and probably last Ford I'll ever own.

I WAS DRIVING AND MY BREAK PEDAL WAS MAKING A SQUEEKING, SQUEALING SOUND EVERYTIME MY FOOT WAS ON THE PEDAL. NO MATTER WHAT IT MADE THAT NOISE ENTIRE TIME WHILE DRIVING DAY IN AND OUT. THE BREAK PEDAL WOULD EITHER BE VERY LOOSE TO THE FLOOR OR EITHER IT WOULD BE SO HARD I COULD NOT PUSH IT DOWN. IVE ONLY HAD VEHICLE 5 YRS AND JUST REPLACED BREAKS. NOW I HAVE TO USE BOTH FEET TO PUSH DOWN ON BREAK PEDAL TO STOP. MY CHILD ISN'T SAFE SO I DRIVE SLOW EVERYWHERE NOW. MECHANIC WHO DID BREAK PADS SAID IT WAS THE BOOSTER GOING OUT. SAID FORD HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS AND ISSUES HAPPENING WITH BREAKS/BOOSTER/MASTER CYLENDER. I AM A SINGLE MOM WHO DOES NOT HAVE MONEY FOR COSTLY REPAIRS LIKE THIS. I JUST PAID OFF IN FULL THIS VEHICLE AND NOW THINKING I COULD HAVE USED THAT MONEY NOW FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 9 YRS OLD. I NEED A MIRACLE. Since July 1, 2022 my car has completely shut down, as of today, four different days (almost on a weekly basis). I am noticing, that when I am at a stop light/sign and then accelerate the car will shut down all electrical. I cruise to a stop, put the car in park, and start the engine, again. The wrench light will flash right before the car shuts down. The car has been doing this since at least October 2021. I have taken it to three different mechanics (including the Ford dealer mechanic in May, 2022) and no one can find anything wrong with the car. I took the car last week to replace the coolant pump at the Santa Monica Ford and they couldn't find anything else wrong with the car (again). So far, I've been lucky. This has only occurred on city streets and I have been able to pull the car over to the right to start the engine. I have only been driving on the streets because I'm afraid it's going to shut down in the middle of the freeway and cause an accident. I search the internet and find that many people are having the same issue with this car model. Someone suggested it could be the throttle body, so I had that cleaned in October, 2021, but the trouble came back. Help!!!!

The vehicle is not going into second gear. A pull onto a 40 mph road means a quick start but then the vehicle won't shift gears so needs to be pulled over quickly to not be in the way of coming traffic. It was inspected by family automatician but wrench light had turned off and stopped problem. Then happened again the next morning followed by wrench light later in the day. Not inspected, yet.

While turning the vehicle to the left at slow speed the right ball joint failed (passenger side) including axel damage. The front passenger wheel turned freely to the right with the driver side wheel remaining straight. A sensation of front end falling apart was felt from the driver's seat. There were no symptoms of suspension failure prior to this event. No vibration at speed, no clunking, no unusual tire wear or pulling left or right issues. The car has 119542 miles at the time of failure. The vehicle was purchased used just prior to this at a Honda Dealer with a extended warranty purchased at time of sale. Vehicle was serviced just prior to this failure with a water pump replaced under extended warranty.

The brake booster has failed now for the 3rd time in 12 months. Brakes still work but pedal goes almost to floor. Brake booster previously replaced, at our expense, by local Ford dealership in January 2021. Three months later brake booster failed again. Took back to dealership and they found no fault. In October brake booster failed again and has not regained proper function to date. Any questions answered below refer to the most recent malfunction.

I'm always sure to lock my doors while driving because of the concern of an assailant entering while at a stop light. However, I'm unable to protect myself because my doors won't lock while the car is in drive. This is massive safety concern for my family and me. The door closer says door ajar when it is closed. It is on the front driver's side door. The dome light is constantly on running out the battery and my wife is not able to lock the doors!!! This is a major safety issue!! I found some info online about A LOT of other ford owners having the same issues and ford doesn't think it's a big deal!!?? Is it going to take someone getting seriously injured for this to be resolved? This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!

While driving the car randomly shuts off when it wants to. Does it approximately every half hour to 1 hour of drive time. When it shuts off the dash board goes dark, and the engine shuts off. The car needs to be coasted to the side of the road with no power brakes, or power steering, and put in park. As soon as the car is stopped and parked it can be started back up again. Multiple times it has shut off in heavy traffic and almost caused an accident, 1 time was in a construction zone on the highway where there was no place to pull off so I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and restart the car. The car was taken to the Ford dealership and they inspected it for 1 full week and they said they could not verify what is causing the issue and told me to continue driving vehicle and when problem starts happening more often to bring it back in. There are no warning lights that come on, and there are no symptoms that are associated with the problem. The car first started doing it approximately 1 month ago, at about 75,000 miles. Car currently has 76,561

The purpose of this letter is to request a recall on 2013 Ford Edge. The customer satisfaction program 13N02 released in January of 2014 identifies that “it is possible for the brake booster on your vehicle to develop a small tear in the diaphragm.” This is what has occurred in my vehicle under 100,000 miles. The recall/program covers vehicles made prior to March 28, 2013 and my vehicle was made in approximately June. As a result my request for relief has to this point been denied. I am very disappointed as it is an identical issue to the recall but because my car is approximately 90 days younger than others identified, I am out $940.30 dollars for the repair. The repair is completed now. The vehicle was not stopping responsively and put myself and others at risk. My auto mechanic confirmed the issue and identified it as the same described in the recall noted above. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms to make us aware of the issue. Ford denies to cover my repair as it is a vehicle made shortly after the bulletin identifies.

THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND AGAIN I HAVE ONLY OPENED THE SUNROOF MAYBE TEN TIMES EVER. NOW IT WILL NOT CLOSE AND $8000 IS JUST CRIPPLING AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR A SUNROOF. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH FORD SUNROOFS AND THIS IS SIMPLY JUST HORRIBLE. FORD KNOWS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS OVER $6500 PLUS ABOUT 11 HOURS LABOR. FORD NEEDS TO MITIGATE THIS ISSUE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ROSEBURG OR DID MY SERVICE WORK AS THEY DO SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THEM. LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH A FAILED DRIVER DOOR LATCH IS SOMETHING MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. I FEEL THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND I DON'T FEEL THAT US VEHICLE OWNERS SHOULD BE THE ONES FOOTING THE BILL TO GET A NEW LATCH INSTALLED TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM!! 2013 FORD EDGE HAS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM WHERE DOOR SENSORS ON 2 OF 4 DOORS INDICATE THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR, WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON (AND STAY ON) WHEN STARTING THE CAR OR WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, WHICH IS DANGEROUS, PARTICULARLY AS IT INTERFERES WITH NIGHT VISION. THE DOORS WON'T LOCK DUE TO THIS WARNING MESSAGE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS AFFECTED BY THIS SENSOR PROBLEM, WHICH ALSO CAUSES A BELL WARNING THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR, AND REPEATED DASH WARNINGS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. REPEATEDLY SLAMMING THE DOOR CLOSED TEMPORARILY HELPS, SOMETIMES. THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR WAS FIXED (BUT NOT REPLACED) WHILE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM RETURNED WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE SECOND TIME, I HAD THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR CLEANED (THE DEALER WANTED ALMOST $400 FOR THIS, BUT REDUCED IT TO $260 AFTER MY COMPLAINT, VS $500 TO REPLACE EACH SENSOR) WHICH WAS HELPFUL FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS, KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE DEFECTIVE DOOR SENSORS THAT IS HIGHLY DISTRACTING FOR DRIVERS, WHICH INTERFERES WITH NIGHT VISION, AND THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE CAR DOORS WHILE DRIVING. THE FORD DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT REPAIR IT FOR FREE (NO RECALL ISSUED). THESE DOOR SENSOR ERRORS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE CURRENTLY (80,500 MILES), WHEREAS IT WAS A FREQUENT YET INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FROM ABOUT 30,000 TO 60,000 MILES. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON WHEN STARTING THE CAR, AS THEY SHOULD, THEN THE WARNING MESSAGES COME ON ON THE DASH, AND BOTH THE LIGHTS AND THE WARNINGS STAY ON WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. SOMETIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND WARNINGS WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS, FOR NO APPARENT REASON; WHEN THIS HAPPENS AT NIGHT, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN GETTING READY TO START THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON WHEN THE DOOR IS FIRMLY SHUT CAUSING US TO CONTINUALLY SLAM AND SHUT THE DOOR UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY GOES OFF. THE LIGHT WILL ALSO COME ON WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND THE DOORS AUTO LOCK CAUSING THE REPEAT ACTION OF CLOSING THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE WARNING LIGHT TO GO OFF. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK FORCING A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN. THIS HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION ON BUSY STREETS CAUSING US TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING AND/OR PULLING OVER TO DO THE SAME UNTIL THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY GOES OFF AND THE DOORS LOCK. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN FORCED TO CLIMB IN AND OVER TO THE DRIVERS SIDE THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE TO AVOID OPENING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I CAN NOT DO THIS DUE TO A BAD BACK.

MY VEHICLE BEGUN HAVING PROBLEMS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AT AROUND 40,000 MILES WHENEVER I WOULD OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. IT WOULD FLASH "DOOR AJAR" AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE. ONCE I WOULD SLOW, THE DASH WOULD ALSO HAVE A "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING FLASHING. THE DOORS WOULD NO LONGER LOCK WHEN I WAS DRIVING, AND I WAS UNABLE TO SECURE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS PARKED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON. IT TOOK MY LOCAL FORD DEALER ALMOST 2 WEEKS TO FIT ME INTO THEIR SCHEDULE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, AND IT COST ME OVER $500 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT WAS VERY DISTRACTING AND UNSAFE WHEN YOU CAN NO LONGER SECURE YOUR VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WITH A CHILD.

THE AUDIO ALARMS INDICATED THE DRIVER DOOR WAS AJAR WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED FALSE VISUAL ALARMS WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN RESULTING IN DRIVER DISTRACTION. DRIVER WAS INSTRUCTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE AUDIO ALARMS GOING OFF ONCE THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED. AUDIO ALARMS WERE ANNOYING, DISTRACTING AND FRUSTRATING TO DRIVER. VEHICLE LATCH WAS REPLACED BY PRIVATE MECHANIC, COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED FOR A TOTAL COST OF $454 OUT OF OWNER'S POCKET. ABOUT A YEAR AGO HAD ISSUE WITH CAR BATTERY AND CAR NOT STARTING. TOLD DEALERSHIP OF ISSUE WITH DOME LIGHT COMING ON AND THE DOOR AJAR ALARM NOISE BUT NOT THE AJAR LIGHT. THEY SAID THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WITH BAD BATTERY. NOW THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON, THE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS, MY DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, AND AN ALARM ON MY DASH TELLS ME TO STOP AND PUT MY CAR INTO PARK. THIS STARTED OVER A YEAR AGO WITH THE BATTERY AND NOW A YEAR LATER WE HAVE HAD CONSTANT ISSUES WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT THAT IS NOW PROGRESSING. LIGHT AND ALARMS OUT OF NOWHERE, DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK, AND THE PROBABILITY OF CAR BATTERIES GOING DEAD BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T STAY OFF IS A HAZARD NOT TO MENTION TRYING TO SEE AT NIGHT WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS UNABLE TO GO OFF. IT IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION TO DRIVE WITH THE CHIMING WHICH GOES OFF BRIEFLY WHEN BRAKING BUT THEN RIGHT BACK ON WHEN I HIT THE GAS AGAIN. BESIDES THAT IF I'M DRIVING AT NIGHT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHERE I'M GOING. IT ALSO MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNEASY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN OR IN AN UNSAFE NEIGHBORHOOD KNOWING THAT I CANNOT KEEP THE DOORS LOCKED. I'VE TRIED CLOSING THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES. I USUALLY GIVE UP AFTER 6 OR 7 TRYS. I'VE HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO BE FIXED TEMPORARILY BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. I WAS AT A GAS STATION. I FORGOT TO PUT THE CAR INTO "PARK". HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY AND LOCK THE DOOR. I HAD MY BACK TO THE CAR WHEN I WAS PUTTING MY CREDIT CARD INTO THE PUMP. I HEARD SCREAMS AS PEOPLE RAN OUT OF THE MARKET AND YELLED THAT THE CAR WAS MOVING DOWN A HILL. AS I TURNED I SAW MY CAR CRASH INTO A PARKED TRAILER (18 WHEEL TYPE.) ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MY FRONT END AND I BENT THE STEEL STEP ON THE CAB NO ONE WAS HURT. MY DOG MERELY FLEW INTO THE WELL OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD MANY FRIENDS CHECK THEIR CARS AND NO ONE WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY UNLESS THE CAR WAS IN PARK. HOWEVER, THESE CARS WERE NOT A FORD EDGE. SINCE THE ACCIDENT I HAVE TESTED MY CAR MANY TIMES AND I CAN ALWAYS PULL THE KEY OUT. AS YOU KNOW WHEN A CAR IS IN DRIVE IT ACTS LIKE ITS IN NEUTRAL AND CAN REACT TO INERTIA. AT THE TIME I WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ON A SLANTED DRIVEWAY. A CHILD IN MY CAR COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS INJURY. SOMEONE NOT PAYING ATTENTION COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY MY CAR. I CHECKED WITH MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE FORD EDGE ABOUT MY SAFETY ISSUE. LOCAL DEALER NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING AND I CAN NOT REACH A LIVE PERSON AT THE FORD'S WORLD HEADQUARTERS. THERE IS NO PROMPT FOR A SAFETY CONCERN.. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO FOLSOM LAKE FORD IN FOLSOM, CA WHERE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AFTER THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS. I WAS TOLD "MAYBE RADIO INTERFERENCE" CAUSED THE PROBLEM OR MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS IN A CEMENT PARKING STRUCTURE. I PARK IN THIS SAME PARKING STRUCTURE MONDAY - FRIDAY AND THIS ISSUE DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY SO THE LOCATION IS NOT A FACTOR. FORD'S CSM CONTACTED BOTH ME AND MY HUSBAND AND REQUESTED THAT WE CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE UNSAFE VEHICLE AND HAVE FORD INSTALL A MONITORING DEVICE SO THAT THEY CAN DETERMINE THE CAUSE THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS. I EXPRESSED THAT THIS IS NOT A RISK I AM WILLING TO TAKE BECAUSE OUR LIVES MATTER. AFTER CONSULTING WITH A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND AN INTERNET SEARCH, IT'S BEEN DISCOVERED THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE AND MANY OTHER FORD MODEL VEHICLES WHICH USE THIS SAME PART AND ALWAYS THE DRIVER'S DOOR (POTENTIALLY BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST USED). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED DUE TO THE FOLLOWING: 1) THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD; 2) THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN SITTING IN A PUBLIC AREA AT NIGHT; 3) THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM RECOGNIZING A TRUE DOOR AJAR SITUATION; 4) THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED.

AFTER MY INCIDENT I HAVE TO CLOSE THE DOOR MULTIABLE TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY WORK SOMETIMES SLAMMING IT WHICH COULD CAUSE MY WINDOW TO SHATTER BUT ITS THE ONLY WAY IT WORKS. "DOOR AJAR" SIGN WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR PROPERLY. THE SIGN STAYS ON DURING A DRIVE WITH SEVERAL ALERTS TO STOP THE CAR, "SHIFT TO PARK" AND SHUT THE DOOR. ALSO, WHEN YOU TRY TO LOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY, THE SYSTEM STILL THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS A ISSUE OF SAFETY FOR THE DRIVER, AND PASSENGERS (ESPECIALLY CHILDREN) IF THEIR DOOR CANNOT BE PROPERLY LOCKED. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING THE SIGN WOULD GO OFF AFTER 3-5 ATTEMPTS. NOW AFTER 10 DAYS OF HAVING THIS ISSUE, THIS SIGN WILL NOT GO OFF AT ALL. AS WELL AS THE CABIN LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, DRAINING THE BATTERY (EVEN IF THE CAR IS NOT TURNED ON). FINALLY, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SPRING IS BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR, THE SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER FORD BRANDS THEY HAVE ALREADY RECALLED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR TRANSPORTING CHILDREN DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. HEADLINER - THE HEAD LINER IN THE FORD EDGE LIMITED HAS ABOUT AN INCH GAP BETWEEN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE CEILING. THE MATERIAL IS ROUGHLY CUT AND WORKMANSHIP IS EXTREMELY POOR. I TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT I USE AND THEY TOOK PICTURES AND ORDERED A NEW HEADLINER, AFTER 6 MONTHS OF BEING BACKORDERED, THE NEW HEADLINER CAME IN AND WAS REPLACED AND HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. MY FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO MAKE IT RIGHT AND I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IT LOOKS BETTER BUT THE MATERIAL EDGES ARE STILL FRAYED ALL ALONG THE WINDSHIELD AND FOR THE COST OF THE CAR I'D EXPECT MORE. AN EXTRA 2" IN MATERIAL AND A PIECE OF FOAM RUBBER WOULD ALLOW THE MATERIAL TO HAVE A FINISHED LOOK AND FILL THE GAP AT LITTLE EXTRA COST AND WOULD MAKE ANYONE NOTICING THIS MUCH HAPPIER.
