Jun 2014

NHTSA Campaign: 14V002000

Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Edge vehicles manufactured from September 2, 2010, through April 25, 2013, and equipped with 2.0L engines. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge. The safety recall began on February 25, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 13S13. IMPORTANT: This recall supersedes recall 12V-438. All vehicles that have been remedied under the previous recall need to have the current remedy applied.

NHTSA Campaign: 14V393000

Component: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

Risk: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Your car is skidding when you brake, and this has happened multiple times over the past few days. Your mechanic diagnosed the issue as a failure in the ABS sensor module and electrohydraulic system, both of which need to be replaced. The repair will involve replacing the faulty ABS module and the electrohydraulic braking system components.

criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Dec 2025

While driving on the highway, your brake pedal suddenly went to the floor with significantly reduced braking power when another vehicle cut in front of you. Your brake system had no warning before this happened, creating a dangerous situation. The Ford dealer found that your hydraulic control unit and master cylinder have internal leaks in valves and seals that need replacement, and your oil sending unit is also leaking and needs replacement.

NHTSA #: 11703314
criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Sep 2025

Your brake pedal may suddenly sink to the floor with no braking response, forcing you to pump the pedal multiple times before brakes engage again. After your dealer replaced the ABS system for $2,694, the problem returned about two years later with the same symptom, and now your brakes feel softer than normal. This dangerous condition requires a complete brake system inspection, including the ABS module, master cylinder, and brake lines, to identify why brake pressure is being lost.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking) system has failed completely, and you're unable to brake properly even though you've replaced the rest of the brake system. You've noticed that other 2012 Ford Edges have a recall for this same ABS issue, but your vehicle wasn't included in it. The repair will likely involve diagnosing and replacing the faulty ABS module or related components.

Your brake pedal occasionally sinks all the way to the floor, though this happens very rarely and intermittently. The brake booster has been replaced multiple times under warranty, but the problem persists. Ford suspects the ABS hydraulic control unit may be causing the brake failure, though the ABS warning light hasn't come on yet. Performing a few hard stops at certain speeds temporarily restores normal braking.

Your front brake pads are wearing out much faster than normal. You've had to replace them three times since 50,000 miles, and now at 90,000 miles you need them replaced again—roughly every 15,000 miles. This excessive wear is unusual and suggests something may be causing the brakes to wear prematurely. A mechanic should inspect your brake system to find the underlying cause, which could involve the brake calipers, rotors, or brake pad quality.

Your vehicle's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module may be failing, a problem you've experienced across multiple Ford vehicles with around 80,000 miles. Ford has not issued a recall for this issue, and the ABS module appears to be unavailable for repair at dealerships. This could affect your braking performance during emergency situations. Fixing this typically requires replacing the ABS module, though availability may be limited.

Your brake booster failed in July 2019, causing a hissing noise and loss of brake pressure, which you had repaired at a cost of $733.39. You discovered that Ford had issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (13N02) covering brake booster issues for 2010-2014 Edge vehicles, but Ford never contacted you about it despite the program being applicable to your VIN. You believe Ford should have proactively notified you about this warranty coverage for what was clearly a safety issue. Resolving this would likely involve Ford either reimbursing your repair cost or extending brake booster warranty coverage under the program.

Filed: Sep 2025

Your backup camera displays a black screen most of the time instead of showing the rear view when you put the car in reverse. Occasionally it may flicker on briefly before going dark again. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting multiple Ford vehicles, and since you rely on it for safe backing up, it's worth getting checked.

NHTSA #: 11685977
mediumUNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Mar 2026

Your backup camera display isn't connecting properly or keeps disconnecting from the camera, so the image won't load or stays off. This makes it difficult to see behind your vehicle when backing up. The fix will likely involve checking the camera connection, wiring, or replacing the camera or display module.

Power Train1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Nov 2025

Your car's transmission isn't properly recognizing when it's in Park, and the dashboard doesn't show the Park status. You can only start the engine by shifting to Neutral first, and the car will roll away even with the parking brake set. While driving, you're concerned the transmission might unexpectedly shift into a different gear. The issue likely involves the transmission shift interlock or position sensor that needs diagnosis and replacement.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your backup camera display intermittently goes blank, shows a distorted or upside-down image, or displays a 'loss of signal' message when you shift into reverse. This means you lose visibility of the area behind your vehicle, which increases the risk of backing into something or someone. The issue may involve repairing or replacing the backup camera, its wiring connection, or the display unit.
