The back door on my 2016 Dodge Grand caravan on the driver side will not open from the inside or the outside I can't get my infant out if there was a fire or an accident vehicle only has 47,000 miles on it

When leaving for a family outing on Saturday, I noticed the driver headrest did not look right. It was separated in 2 pieces and would not go back together. When trying to find a resolution I learned that this unexpected deployment is a common problem that apparently Dodge is not yet willing to fix.

Sliding door latch mechanism failed on the right rear passenger door. Part number 68030380AE. The right rear passenger door was locked in the closed position.

Stationary in driveway, drivers side rear door unable to open manually or electronically. Brought to dealership where purchased and left it to the tune of $296 labor for diagnosing. Not fixed that would be another $600 for parts plus labor.

When the car was at approximately 20,000 miles, the driver side sliding back door stopped opening. It appeared to be stuck between lock and unlock. It is unable to be unlocked with any amount of force, which rendered it unopenable from both the inside and outside of the car.

Original arbitration data to ncds: 1.durango 2016 was purchased on 30 april 2016 with the forward collision warning system (fcws) with brake assist as an option. This and the adaptive cruise control (acc) system was app $2k as a safety option. This website describes the feature.

The automatic start/stop feature fails to restart the engine after foot is removed from brake. The error message appears in the information system "cycle shift to park then recycle to drive". The d flashes on the dashboard and the d on the gear shift selector flashes.

Dear FCA 06/30/2025 As a dodge owner I have to tell you about my situation, I’m a 2016 Dodge Caravan Owner and love the van, love the stow and go seating and both sides sliding doors and the room. We bought this van because our other vehicles didn’t fit all our grandkids in, so it’s our 3rd vehicle for that use. It was used gingerly and kept in our garage.

In July of 2022, the air conditioner failed. Called to make an appointment with DeLuca, the part did not come in so we did not bring the van in for repair. In August 2022 the van started stalling while driving on occasion.

Vehicle stalls while driving, losing all power. Often cannot be immediately started again. Has been to the dealer several times; they can not duplicate the problem to diagnose.

My drivers side sliding door actuator was replaced several years ago under warranty due to buzzing noise. Now it will not allow that same door to release the lock to open it up.

There is a design flaw with the coolant lines. The TOH coolant line makes contact with the rear heater return line and creates a coolant leak in that area. Due to the friction this caused a hole in the line.

Driver side sliding door locking mechanism will not unlock and hence the door cannot be opened from inside or outside the vehicle. Has not been diagnosed by dealer or any others. All other doors work as expected.

The driver's side sliding door won't open, and the passenger side sliding door sometimes will open a little and then reclose. Dodge extended the warranty in January, but the mileage on our van puts us outside of the warranty. However, when our door stopped opening, our van would have been in the warranty.

The truck excels while at a stop light where you must break again.the truck the emergency break forward and rear has activated while in motion. THEY WANT $650.00 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.

First incident was in august 2017.I had service done because the driver's side sliding door stopped working and did not open. Second incident - this august 2019 the same door stopped working and does not open. Third incident - now my passenger side sliding door does not open either.

When I got home from work on 09.30.18 and parked we noticed oil leaking underneath the van. Driving on the interstate, had to apply brakes hard, then had to pump the excellerator and then floore it to get gas to engine to resume momentum. After that it does it does this intermediately, maybe for quite awhile the same day and not again for weeks.

Fcw does not work as explained in the dodge manual. No warning to brake or brake jolt or stop of the vehicle. All I get from dodge dealers 4 of them is we can't test the system and you can run into the car in front of you.

I live in northern new york. On the morning of 10/18/2016, my 11y/o daughter buckled her 7y/o sister in the back passenger seat of our 2016 dodge durango. Our 11 y/o then enter the front passenger side and shut the door.

Driver's side sliding door stuck locked shut. Cant even manually unlock

Passenger door lock will not function (door will not open) the other passenger wire harness is broken and wires are exposed. First the doors where buzzing and then it just stop working you cannot get out from one of the doors. The child proof lock does not work.

2016 grand caravan r/t - driver side sliding door lock is stuck. It responds to nothing. Pressing the dome panel button does nothing.

Both the driver side and passenger side rear power sliding doors will not open manually or via the power buttons on the key. The driver side rear door did stopped opening at 38k miles and the passenger side rear door stopped working at 46k. This is a safety issue as we have children in carseats, and we cannot open the doors to remove them.

When the car is in park, ignition on or off, the driver's side sliding door is locked and closed and will not open using the keyfob, the door button on the ceiling console, the door button on the door wall, the inside or outside door handles. The lock will not manually lock or unlock. You cannot exit the van on that side.

Sliding door behind driver locked will not unlock. Googled problem many vehicles with same problem. I use these as school bus and cannot use it now.reading about problem dodges fix is a 1100.00 dollar fix.

Rear driver side sliding door has completely stopped operating. Will not open either manually or electrically. It is as if it is permanently locked.

Approximately 1 week ago my rear driver sliding door became stuck. Upon searching online for a fix I found what appeared to be hundreds, if not thousands of people with the same problem. I attempted every thing we could think of.

The passenger side sliding door automatically locked while I was driving as it should. However once the lock engaged, it would not unlock and the door became inoperable from both the inside and the outside. This is incredibly dangerous, because if there was an emergency I or first responders could not quickly get to my son, especially if the other door were to fail in the same way.

My 2016 dodge caravan was parked in my driveway overnight. In the morning, the driver side sliding door wouldn't unlock neither manually or with the key fob.

Came to a stop turned the knob to park, and went to exit the vehicle. The car rolled forward into the curb and dented my license plate . The car apparently did not go into park, like I had put it.

My wife shifted the car into park. She exited the vehicle and left the engine running while she got out . When she stepped away from the vehicle to get something she noticed the vehicle rolling backwards and it backed into a dumpster.

The passenger side headrest popped forward after the plastic that holds the steel pin in place failed. I was just driving down the road when I heard a loud bang. There wasn't any rough road, bumps etc.

On 2/10/18 I parked my car on a hill along a curbed sidewalk I put the car in park and shut it off and exited and locked the doors. I walked to a restaurant around the corner for take out when I returned 5 minutes later and my vehicle had rolled back about ten feet into another vehicle that was parked on the street causing damage to the rear of my vehicle.

Rollaway danger---we have an attached three car garage and I was parked in the larger 2 car section closer to the house. In early am on a recent morning, when backing out of my garage, I realized I had left something in the house. After backing out, I put the car in park, unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the driver door in order to go back into the house.

The vehicle's rear passenger sliding door will not unlock either from the fob or from the outside of the vehicle. This very well could cause a safety concern.
