2016 Dodge Grand Caravan Body & Structure Problems

The front door panel that sits between the front window and back sliding door flew off the vehicle while driving down the road. This happened on both the driver and passenger side at different times/days. The drivers side was fixed by the dealer (eide) under warranty prior to the passenger side flying off.

Both sliding doors are locked and can't be opened manually or automatically our kids and passengers can't exit safely in the event of an accident or fire. The issue has been confirmed and warranty extented-dealer charged $155 and told us that the door being locked and not being able to open is not the issue but the latch is defective.

both of my side sliding door won't open, unlock or lock. This puts family in me at risk in case of a accident or something we wouldn't be able to get. Out of nowhere they just stop working first one door gave out and now the other and I been searching not the only one with this issue.

Driver's side sliding door lock mechanism became suddenly inoperable, without warning, both electrically and manually. Even with manual operation of the door lock knob, the door cannot be unlocked. It is not possible to open the door using either the interior or exterior door latch handle, therefore eliminating this door as a means of exit for the rear passengers.

I'm writing to inform you of an issue with our 2016 dodge caravan. The sliding door on the passenger side is unable to be opened from the inside, from the outside or when using the key fob. This is a major safety issue in the event of an accident or fire as well as a major inconvenience.

Jacking the car using the manufacturers jack installed at the points indicated by the manual caused the metal rail to split. Tried three different places all within 6 inches and each time the jacking point split the metal. Metal would break after lifting the car and weight was on the jack.

THE DOOR ACCENTATORS IN BOTH REAR DOORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING . THE DEALERSHIP FIXED ONE WHICH WAS GREAT BUT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER FUNCTION IN EITHER DOOR AS WELL . THE FIRST DOOR WAS GRINDING WHENEVER WE TRIED TO USE THE DOOR LOCKS OR EVEN STOPPED THE CAR AND PUT IT IN PARK . ALSO THE KEY FOB IS DEFECTIVE FOR THIS CAR I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY ONCE A MONTH AND IT ONLY UNLOCKS THE DOORS SOMETIMES .

LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR STUCK IN SHUT POSITION IN JULY 2019. JUST LOCKED SHUT. THIS IS A MANUAL, NOT ELECTRICAL DOOR. DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANY LOCKS, FOB BUTTONS AND OR HANDLES. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING THAT "CAUSED" IT. IT JUST WILL NOT OPEN.

THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY OR MANUALLY. IT IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED. THIS IS A VERY BAD SAFTEY ISSUE! IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY AND THE DRIVERS REAR DOOR GOT DAMAGED, NO ONE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CAN GET OUT! AS MANY COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THIS ISSUE, THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED! MY SECOND ISSUE IS THE CABLES THAT MAKE THE MIDDLE PASSENGER SEAT FOLD UP HAVE BROKEN. THIS HAPPENED AT AROUND 80,000 MILES. BOTH FAILURES HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.

THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *DT*JB

THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS CURRENTLY IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND CANNOT BE UNLOCKED EITHER USING THE KEY FOB OR MANUALLY MANIPULATING THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM. THE DOOR WAS OPERATING PROPERLY IN THE MORNING AND INOPERATIVE IN THE AFTERNOON. BASED ON INTERNET SEARCHES AND CHECKING WITH MY LOCAL MECHANIC, IT APPEARS THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT.

RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCK HAS JAMMED. DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. UNKNOWN IF THIS OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ODOMETER READS ~62,000 MILES.

The passenger side sliding door no longer locks manually or by remote. I was broken into because of this at a hotel I was staying.

We have brought it to make mechanics and all have stated that is is extremely expensive to fix and almost impossible to find the needed parts.

Loud buzzing sound when you lock doors

Both passenger and drivers side sliding doors emits a buzzing sound when unlock / locking. Driver side sliding now no longer locks, the auto open/close feature does not work, and often times cannot securely close the door without manual manipulation. Back seated passengers now must exit from the front.

Passenger side sliding door would not lock electronically. I forced the lock to move and now it makes a loud buzzing sound.

The driver's side power-sliding rear door will not operate using the key fob, the center button in the front seat, or by manually pulling the inside or outside handle. It appears as though the lock mechanism is stuck in the locked position.

The driver's side passenger sliding door has been in the locked position for some time now and it cannot be opened manually or electronically. I came out of the store into the parking lot and tried to open the side door to load my groceries with no success. All of a sudden the driver side sliding door is frozen locked and will not open. I have tried everything to be able to open the door - from outside and inside and it does not unlock or open. I put the van in park. Got out to walk around and get a car seat & the van started moving in reverse (back up camera was not on) so I know I put it in park. The van hit another car beside me and if I was not able to stop it in time it would've hit my apartment complex because it was moving fast enough to go over the curb by itself!
