Your driver's side sliding door won't open manually, which means passengers in the back or middle seats would only have one way out in an emergency. The door stopped working about a week ago without any warning signs or accident involvement. Your van has experienced multiple serious issues over time: both sliding doors' stow-and-go seats have malfunctioned repeatedly, your engine was replaced due to a manufacturing defect around 97,000 miles, and your transmission has shown signs of trouble including jerking shifts and stalling starting around 116,000 miles. Most critically, at 142,000 miles your transmission overheated, limited your speed to 45-50 mph with erratic RPM behavior, and required towing to a transmission shop for service. The owner believes the transmission has underlying defects that should have triggered a safety recall. Transmission repair or replacement may be necessary, along with evaluation of the stow-and-go seat mechanisms.
