Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2008-2010 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan and 2007-2011 Dodge Nitro vehicles. These vehicles may have a loose or missing brand emblem in the center of the steering wheel. The loose emblem or the securing nuts for the emblem within the driver air bag module may become projectiles in the event of a driver air bag deployment.

Risk: Projectiles as a result of driver air bag deployment in the event of a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag cover with a redesigned cover, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is W09.

This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured June 29, 2007, to June 17, 2010, and 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles manufactured January 26, 2007, to June 17, 2010. Road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Risk: If the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ignition switch and key FOBs, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R03. Note: This is an expansion of recall 11V-139.

Your car may randomly shut off while driving or switch to accessory mode without warning, creating a dangerous loss of engine power. You may also need to force the key into the ignition with extreme pressure to restart the vehicle. This appears to be related to a faulty wireless ignition node (WIN) module that affects many 2008-2010 Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. The fix will likely require replacing the ignition switch and WIN module.

NHTSA #: 11566800

Filed: Oct 2025

Your vehicle won't start when you use the key fob, even after replacing the key fob multiple times. The dealer diagnosed a failed WIN (wireless ignition node) switch module as the cause. The dealer mentioned a recall for a similar issue but confirmed your vehicle's VIN isn't covered by it. Fixing this will likely require replacing the WIN switch module in your vehicle.

Your ignition lock cylinder is failing, leaving you stranded without being able to start the car or use electrical components like the dashboard lights and odometer. The key gets stuck in the ignition and won't turn, preventing the engine from starting. This is a known issue on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravans that has a manufacturer recall. The fix will likely involve replacing the faulty ignition lock cylinder.

While parked, you noticed a strange smell coming from inside your vehicle when you tried to roll down the window. A mechanic found that the wiring harness and window switch had failed and needed replacement. Although this issue matches a known recall campaign, your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in the recall list, though the manufacturer claimed it was repaired under that recall in 2016. Repairing this issue will likely involve replacing the faulty window switch and rewiring the electrical connections in the door.

Your ignition key sometimes gets stuck in the ignition switch after turning off the engine. This problem happens off and on, drains your battery, and prevents your rearview camera from working. Dodge says a recall repair was already done on your vehicle, but the issue persists. Fixing this will likely require inspecting and possibly replacing the ignition switch assembly.

criticalWHEELS
Filed: Oct 2024

Your vehicle has experienced two separate incidents where a tire fell completely off because the wheel studs sheared off. You've also noticed that a similar 2009 Chrysler Town and Country had the same problem. While there is a recall for 2012-2021 models with this issue, your 2010 model year is not included. The fix will likely involve replacing the wheel studs and potentially inspecting the wheel hub for damage.

Filed: Jul 2024

Your transmission unexpectedly slips into neutral while driving, causing your van to lose power and coast without acceleration. This happens randomly 1-4 times daily, forcing you to restart the engine to regain power, which is dangerous since it can occur anywhere without warning. A repair shop was unable to diagnose the issue. The transmission may need professional diagnosis and repair, potentially including transmission fluid service or internal component replacement.

Filed: Jul 2025

Your driver's side window made loud noises and then fell down into the door while you were traveling, leaving you stranded and requiring emergency repairs costing nearly $1,000. There were no warning signs before it happened—just loud noise from the door immediately before the window dropped. The window regulator mechanism failed and will likely need to be replaced with a new assembly from the dealer.

Filed: Jan 2025

Your ignition switch became stuck and wouldn't turn off, leaving warning lights illuminated and trapping your key fob inside. You had to disconnect the battery to shut down the vehicle and remove the key. Your vehicle qualifies for two manufacturer recalls (air bag and steering-related, and electrical system), but replacement parts have been unavailable for an extended period, leaving the repairs incomplete.

Filed: Apr 2024

Your car is shutting off completely without warning, which is dangerous—especially since it happened on the freeway. The problem is intermittent and has been happening on and off for about 2 years, making it hard for mechanics to diagnose. Two different mechanics have been unable to find the cause. The issue likely involves the steering, electrical system, or engine, and may require diagnostic testing to identify faulty sensors, wiring, or fuel system components.

CrashFiled: Oct 2023

Your side curtain airbags failed to deploy during a side-impact crash, while the other vehicle's airbags worked properly. You sustained injuries to your lower back and shoulder as a result. The repair would require diagnosis of the airbag system's sensors and wiring to determine why the deployment mechanism didn't activate.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your vehicle shuts off almost immediately after starting, with warning lights flashing before a red dot remains on the dashboard. The starter and battery were replaced, but the problem keeps happening and now the car won't start at all. This issue may be related to an electrical system or airbag problem similar to a known recall, though your specific vehicle wasn't included. The fix will likely require a comprehensive diagnostic of the electrical system and possibly replacement of the engine control module or related electrical components.

Filed: Feb 2025

Your front passenger seat headrest suddenly deployed on its own without any warning or accident, creating a safety hazard with sharp parts that could injure a passenger. You've attempted to contact Chrysler and Dodge multiple times without receiving help, and they claim there's no recall available for your vehicle since your warranty has expired. This deployment happened spontaneously with no accident involved, and the fix will likely require Chrysler to inspect and repair or replace the headrest mechanism.

Filed: May 2024

Your turn signals and windshield wipers turn on and off randomly while driving, and at the same time your stereo shuts off, air conditioning stops working, and your power windows lock up and won't roll down. You also hear a loud ticking noise from the dashboard (around the stereo area) when idling, which gets worse when you hit bumps in the road. These problems happen multiple times a day and sometimes don't stop until you turn off the engine. This suggests an electrical connection issue, possibly a corroded or loose battery terminal or ground connection that's causing intermittent power loss to multiple systems.
