NHTSA Campaign: 22V504000

Component: TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor battery may fail prematurely and cause the sensor to become inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Risk: Inoperative TPMS sensors will not alert the driver to low tire pressure. In addition, a TPMS warning light that is already illuminated from a failed battery sensor will mask an actual tire pressure failure issue. Either of these scenarios can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the TPMS sensors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 2, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z68.

NHTSA Campaign: 22V866000

Component: POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:COLUMN SHIFT ASSEMBLY

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Dodge Charger and Durango vehicles. The shifter assembly was not properly heat-treated, which can prevent the shifter from properly engaging in the "drive" position.

Risk: An improperly engaged shifter assembly may slip out of the "drive" position, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the shifter assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 17, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall ZB3.

CrashFiled: Jan 2023

Your 2022 Dodge Charger was involved in a crash at 60 MPH where the front passenger side was severely damaged, but the passenger-side airbags did not deploy. The driver was injured from the seat belt impact, which suggests the airbags should have provided additional protection. The cause of the airbag failure has not yet been determined, and Dodge has not been notified.

Electrical System2 issues
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your transmission shifter is displaying a service warning light and making unusual noises while shifting gears. You may experience difficulty moving between gears smoothly. The shifter mechanism or its electrical components may need inspection and repair.

highELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Sep 2025

You purchased a 2022 Dodge Charger that showed 49,000 miles at the time of sale, but when you registered it, the odometer reading was discovered to be 93,000 miles — a discrepancy of 44,000 miles. This suggests the odometer may have been tampered with or rolled back before you bought the vehicle. You may want to consult with a mechanic or legal professional about your options, as this is a case of potential odometer fraud.

Unknown Or Other,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
criticalUNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car has a defective weld on the fuel filler neck that caused a fuel leak, creating a serious fire hazard since the leak was located directly next to the exhaust system. You may notice a strong gasoline smell inside and outside your vehicle, and fuel may drip from the filler neck area. The manufacturer refused to address the issue despite the safety risk. Fixing this will require replacing the fuel filler neck with a properly welded component.

Steering,electrical System,air Bags1 issue
criticalSTEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
Filed: Feb 2025

Your steering wheel controls and instrument cluster have stopped working, which may also affect your airbag system—all at under 40,000 miles with no accidents or abuse. Additionally, your rear camera occasionally glitches and your alarm system triggers randomly at night even when the car is parked securely in your garage. This likely involves a wiring or electrical connection issue in the steering column or a faulty control module that needs diagnosis and repair.

NHTSA #: 11640546
Tires1 issue
criticalTIRES
CrashFiled: Nov 2024

Your 2022 Dodge Charger's rear driver-side tire lost traction while changing lanes and turning, causing the vehicle to spin out and crash into a sidewalk, curb, and street sign. The vehicle had been inspected at a lower speed before this incident and also experienced a similar spin-out. The owner believes the issue may be related to the vehicle automatically switching to AWD mode while set in rear wheel drive, and suspects it's connected to known tire recalls. The incident occurred around 10,000 miles.

NHTSA #: 11627733
Vehicle Speed Control,engine,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
criticalVEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Apr 2024

When you brake, your engine sometimes unexpectedly races to a high idle speed, causing your tires to spin and smoke. You have to shut off the engine immediately to stop it. This problem is intermittent and has happened at least twice, requiring towing to the dealer both times. The issue likely involves the fuel system, engine control system, or idle speed regulator.

NHTSA #: 11581573
Suspension1 issue
highSUSPENSION
Filed: May 2025

Your 2022 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody has a suspension alignment problem where the front camber (wheel angle) is off by 1 degree due to control arms that are too short by design. Despite regular alignments and tire rotations, your front tires are wearing unevenly on the inside and need replacement before 10,000 miles. The dealership says there are no factory parts available to fix this to proper specifications, suggesting a potential design defect in the suspension.

NHTSA #: 11658358
Power Train,engine1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE
Filed: Jun 2024

Your engine surges unexpectedly when you apply light throttle in any gear or at any speed, making acceleration feel jerky and unpredictable. The dealership has reset your engine and transmission computers multiple times, which temporarily improves the problem, but it keeps getting worse. This surging is unsafe in parking lots where light throttle doesn't produce movement, causing you to press harder and then suddenly lurch forward. The fix may require a full diagnostic scan, fuel system cleaning, or replacement of engine control components.

NHTSA #: 11597259
Power Train,engine,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
mediumPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Jul 2023

Your car intermittently jerks or loses power while driving, especially when accelerating from a stop at traffic lights. The jerking happens more frequently when you're stopped and then begin to accelerate. A Dodge dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to identify the cause. The issue may require diagnostic testing of the fuel system, ignition components, or engine sensors to pinpoint the problem.
