I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE ABS CONTROL MODULE SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. IT HASN'T STARTED WORKING AGAIN AT ALL SO IT WASN'T A FLUKE.
ABS LIGHT ON AND BRAKE BLINKING RED LIGHT
VOLKSWAGEN ABS STABILITY ISSUES... THIS ISSUES STARTED IN THE END OF DECEMBER 2016 WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE IT TO TAKE MY SON TO WORK ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WHEN I STARTED IT MY CAR CAME ON AND DID NOT GO OFF I SET FOR A WHILE I REVERSED AND THE CAR STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN. AFTER I TRIED TO REVERSE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WHEN OFF I STARTED TO DRIVE HALFWAY TO MY DESTINATION ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND THEN THE CAR STARTED TO BECOME VERY FLIMSY. I PULLED OVER TURN THE CAR OFF I TURN THE CAR BACK ON ALL THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND THEN THEY WENT OFF AGAIN BY THE TIME I GOT TO MY DESTINATION I TURN THE CAR OFF AND SAT AND CALLED THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO GO BACK TO WHERE I JUST GOT MY TIRES DONE BECAUSE MAYBE IT WAS JUST A SENSOR. AT THIS TIME I COULD NOT FIND A TOWING COMPANY I STARTED THE CAR BACK THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY I TRIED TO DRIVE TOWARDS THE MECHANIC I PREVIOUSLY USED THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON I DROVE SLOW WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE CALL THE MECHANIC THEY TOLD ME TO TRY TO MAKE IT DOWN TO THEIR SHOP. AT THE RYMAN TO THE SHOP THEY CHECKED OVER THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THE DASHBOARD MODULE. I CALLED THE MECHANIC AT THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP IN UNION CITY GEORGIA THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TRY TO BRING IT UP TO THEM AFTER BRINGING IT TO THEM THEY SAID SAD THAT I NEEDED TO GET A ELECTRICAL MODULE REPAIRED AND SOMETHING ELSE AND MY TOTAL WAS GOING TO BE $3,200. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET IT DONE ON THAT DAY THEY ASKED ME WHETHER I COULD PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE EXCHANGE THAT ONE OR TRY TO FIND A LOWER PRICE AND THEY WILL MATCH IT. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO NEITHER. I NOW FIND OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS A RECALL NO ONE IS CONTACT ME I ACCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT ON MY TELEPHONE WATCHING THE NEWS.
DURING NORMAL DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE, IT HAD MANY DASH LIGHTS TURN ON SIMULTANEOUSLY, INCLUDING ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE (EVEN THOUGH EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED), EPC, AND POWER STEERING. THE GAS GAUGE DROPPED TO ZERO INTERMITTENTLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 0 WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT AROUND 25MPH. ON THE SHORT DRIVE HOME, THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND LOST POWER STEERING. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS THE ABS MODULE NEEDING REPLACED FOR OVER $2000. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 85K MILES ON IT, AND THIS PART SHOULD LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE CAR. THANKFULLY, THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. BEYOND THE COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA, THERE ARE COUNTLESS OTHER DRIVERS ON VW FORUMS OF JETTA AND OTHER MODELS FROM 2009 WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
