Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Toyota Camry, Corolla, Rav4, Sienna, and Yaris iA vehicles equipped with factory-installed floor mats. The load carrying capacity modification label may be incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Risk: An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: SET will notify owners and provide a corrected label for placement over the inaccurate label, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. SET's number for this recall is SET19A.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2011-2019 Corolla, 2011-2013 Matrix, 2012-2018 Avalon, and 2013-2018 Avalon Hybrid vehicles. During certain crashes, the air bag electronic control unit (ECU) may malfunction, possibly disabling the deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

Risk: In the event of a crash, air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners that do not deploy as intended may increase the risk of injury.

Fix: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ECU and install a noise filter between the air bag control module and its wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. Owners were notified of the safety risk beginning March 2, 2020. A second letter notifying owners of the remedy repair will be mailed between March 16, 2020 and June 27, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 20TB03, 20TA03 and 20TA05.

Your 2018 Corolla shuts off and won't restart for 1–2 hours every time you refuel, and multiple mechanics—including Toyota dealerships—couldn't pinpoint the cause, though one suspected a fuel pump issue. Additionally, when you drive over 70 mph, your car displays a break reminder message, then jerks and drives erratically, creating a serious safety hazard on highways. A fuel pump failure could leave you stranded or cause loss of power at high speeds. The repair will likely involve fuel pump inspection, diagnostic testing, and possible fuel pump replacement.

CrashFiled: Nov 2023

Your car was involved in a hard right-front collision at 30-40 MPH, but the steering wheel airbag and right curtain airbag failed to deploy despite severe damage to the front end. The driver sustained leg and chest pain that might have been prevented if the airbags had worked. This is the second incident where curtain airbags did not deploy as expected during a significant impact.

On October 17, 2025, a 2018 Toyota Corolla LE was delivered to an authorized Toyota dealership for an airbag recall repair. The recall involved the airbag electronic control unit (ECU), which, according to Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), may fail to deploy the airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners during certain types of crashes due to inadequate protection against electrical noise. The vehicle was picked up on October 18, 2025, after the dealer reported the recall repair as completed. Before the recall, the vehicle displayed a clear and consistent safety issue: the “Passenger Airbag OFF” indicator stayed illuminated even when a full-size adult occupant (approximately 208 lbs) was seated in the front passenger seat. After the recall repair, the exact same issue persisted with no improvement. The repair was ineffective, as the system still failed to recognize an occupied seat, and the passenger airbag continued to show “OFF.” When this was reported to the dealership immediately after pickup, staff incorrectly stated that the recall concerned metal fragments inside the airbags. This is inaccurate. The official recall documentation from Toyota and NHTSA clearly identifies the defect as non-deployment of airbags and seatbelt pretensioners, not metal fragments. The dealership then advised that a diagnostic inspection would be needed for a $175 fee. However, since this issue directly involves the same safety components addressed by the recall and remains unresolved after the recall repair, it should be re-inspected free of charge under recall coverage. Charging a diagnostic fee in this case is unreasonable, given that the recall repair did not correct the problem as intended. This ongoing malfunction presents a serious safety risk, as the airbag may fail to deploy in a crash. The problem likely involves a defective occupant detection sensor or an improperly functioning ECU/noise filter following the recall service.

FireFiled: Nov 2023

Your 2018 Toyota Corolla caught fire while parked in your driveway, destroying the vehicle and damaging your garage, home, and driveway. The fire occurred about 12 hours after you parked it, and the fire department had to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire was not determined, though the battery was replaced by AAA three weeks after the incident.

You discovered that your 2018 Toyota Corolla's actual mileage is significantly higher than what was shown when you bought it. The odometer reading at purchase was around 85,000 miles, but the vehicle's title shows 200,095 miles—meaning the mileage was rolled back before the sale. This is odometer fraud, a serious issue that affects the vehicle's true condition and value.

About three weeks after installing a new set of four tires, your rear driver-side tire suddenly went flat and disintegrated while driving at highway speed, causing your car to spin out and crash off the road. The airbags deployed and protected you from injury. You believe the tire failed on its own rather than being damaged by an external object like a pothole or debris.

Your horn stopped working, and a few days later your airbag warning light came on. The dealership confirmed this is a known issue with Toyota Corollas but said they're uncertain whether your airbags will actually deploy in a crash. This is a serious safety concern that should be addressed immediately, as you may not have airbag protection in an accident.

While driving on the highway, you heard a tapping noise and pulled over to investigate. Your engine suddenly died and wouldn't restart, and you discovered the radiator cap had blown off with all coolant gone. The engine had overheated so severely that a compression test showed water shooting from the valve cover, indicating a blown head gasket. Your car gave no warning lights or temperature gauge indication before this happened, leaving you stranded on the highway.

Your engine sounds very weak when starting or approaching a stop, and has actually shut off while driving. After refueling, you need to pump the accelerator pedal to get the car to start. Your mechanic found a fault code (P0171) pointing to the EVAP system (which controls fuel vapor emissions), and even after replacing the EVAP valves, the problem continues. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and repairing the fuel system, possibly including the fuel pump, fuel injectors, or related fuel delivery components.
