Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 132)
Power Train →3 issues
Your transmission shifted erratedly while accelerating to merge onto the interstate highway at 65 mph, triggering a check engine light with code P0871 (transmission fluid pressure sensor issue). You couldn't maintain proper speed to keep up with traffic, nearly causing a collision. The transmission only shifted normally after the error code was reset with a diagnostic tool.

Your truck rolled forward and collided with aircraft while parked, even though the gear shift was in park. You discovered that after starting the truck, you can shift out of park and into drive for over a second without your foot on the brake — something that should be impossible for safety reasons. The fix will likely involve inspection and possible replacement or reprogramming of the transmission shift interlock system that prevents shifting without brake pressure.

When you first start your truck and drive off, the gas pedal occasionally becomes unresponsive—you press it but the engine doesn't respond. There's no smoke or unusual noise, just a dead pedal. After you stop and restart the truck, the throttle works normally again. The problem is intermittent and hasn't triggered any diagnostic trouble codes.

Engine →2 issues
Your 2019 Ram 3500 caught fire while driving uphill with an empty trailer, with no warning lights appearing beforehand. The fire department extinguished the flames, but the fire chief couldn't determine the cause due to the extensive damage. Your vehicle was declared a total loss by insurance. The fire may have originated in the engine bay or fuel system, and a thorough inspection by a qualified technician would be needed to identify the root cause.

While driving normally, your engine began knocking, which stopped briefly before returning much louder a few miles later. As you tried to safely pull over, the engine seized completely. Upon inspection, the connecting rods had broken through the engine block, creating holes and requiring a full engine replacement.

Engine And Engine Cooling, electrical System →2 issues
While driving at about 30 MPH after accelerating from a stop, you heard an abnormal ticking sound from under the hood and the vehicle started to slow down on its own. After coasting to the side of the road, the engine wouldn't restart. The dealer found that a rod inside the engine had fractured in cylinder #1, causing complete engine failure. The engine will need to be replaced.

While driving at 45 mph, you heard a squealing noise from the engine compartment and the engine suddenly shut off, causing you to lose power. You were able to pull over and restart the vehicle, but no warning lights appeared on your dashboard. This happened at 135,000 miles, and you suspect it may be related to a known manufacturer issue with the engine and electrical system.

Air Bags,seat Belts,service Brakes →1 issue
Your trailer brakes have stopped working because the hydraulic controller isn't functioning properly. You're also seeing warning lights for traction control, airbags, and ABS (anti-lock brakes) coming on intermittently. The dealer believes the ORC (Occupant Restraint Controller) module needs to be replaced to fix these issues.

Electrical System,air Bags,service Brakes →1 issue
Water is repeatedly leaking into your truck's electrical systems through clogged cowl drains near the windshield wipers, causing corrosion that has knocked out critical safety and control systems multiple times. Over the past few years, this water damage has fried your engine control module, HVAC system, and airbag/ABS modules, leaving you without dashboard gauges and brake safety systems during rainy driving conditions. The dealer has replaced some components but the root cause—clogged drainage—keeps allowing water back in. A permanent fix will likely require sealing the firewall/wiper cowl area and ensuring proper drainage to prevent future water intrusion.

Steering →1 issue
While driving at about 35 MPH, your steering wheel suddenly stopped responding, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit a tree. The impact damaged the passenger mirror, a hubcap, and the truck bed. The passenger sustained minor injuries (a bruise and small cut). The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired, and the manufacturer was not notified of the steering failure.

Engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
Your engine is making an abnormal rattling noise while driving. The vehicle has been towed to a mechanic but hasn't been diagnosed yet. You suspect this may be related to a known recall, though your specific vehicle wasn't included in that recall campaign. The issue appeared around 108,000 miles.

Fuel System, Diesel,engine →1 issue
While driving at 55 MPH, your exhaust system warning light came on and your truck stalled. The vehicle wouldn't restart and had to be towed. You discovered online that this matches a known issue affecting diesel Ram 3500s (NHTSA Action EA23001). The problem occurred at about 214,000 miles. Diagnosis and repair will likely involve inspecting and servicing the diesel exhaust aftertreatment system components.

Power Train,electrical System →1 issue
Your radio occasionally shuts off on its own. Your transmission has locked in park a few times since February — after driving and shifting to park, it won't shift into any other gear until you turn the truck off and restart it, at which point it works normally again. This appears to be an intermittent electrical or transmission control issue. A mechanic will likely need to scan your transmission control module and electrical system for fault codes to identify the root cause.

Unknown Or Other, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your truck's forward collision avoidance and traction control systems are intervening during winter driving in ways that feel dangerous to you. When your truck slides on ice with traction control off, the system cuts power to the wheels instead of letting you control the slide, which caused your truck to slide into a ditch and sustain front-end damage. Additionally, the automatic braking system engages unexpectedly when it perceives a collision threat that may not actually occur. You're unable to fully disable these safety systems—removing fuses affects other vehicle functions. A complete disable option or override control for these systems may help prevent unwanted interventions during winter driving.

Electrical System, electronic Stability Control (esc) →1 issue
Your cruise control stopped working while driving at 45 mph and wouldn't turn back on. This happened multiple times, and your dashboard showed an "Electronic Stability Control System Malfunctioning" message, even though no warning light appeared. The dealer couldn't figure out what was causing it. There may be a recall for your vehicle, but you haven't been able to confirm it applies to your VIN.

Engine And Engine Cooling, engine →1 issue
Your 2019 Ram 3500 developed an abnormal ticking sound from the engine while driving, and then went into limp mode (reduced power) with the turbocharger stopping working. No warning lights appeared before this happened. Your dealer was unable to diagnose or repair the issue.

Suspension →1 issue
Your vehicle has a broken weld on the driver's side front suspension where the coil spring bucket attaches to the chassis. You've also noticed other poor quality welds on the frame. This structural issue needs professional inspection and repair to ensure safe handling and suspension performance.

Exterior Lighting,structure →1 issue
Water is leaking into your truck through the rear window light assembly after rain, causing damage to items inside. You've discovered that RAM has issued recalls for this problem on other vehicles, but the dealer refused to fix yours because the recall isn't listed under your specific VIN number, even though you've seen many owners reporting the same issue on RAM forums. The fix will likely involve resealing or replacing the rear window light assembly and potentially pursuing a recall claim with RAM directly or through NHTSA.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2019 Ram 3500 had a recall repair (W03-2019-2020) performed on the transmission valve body at Sunland Park Dodge on May 1, 2024, but you're still experiencing the same problem the recall was supposed to fix. The dealer hasn't confirmed the repair was completed in their system. You can contact NHTSA directly to report that the recall repair failed to resolve your issue.
