Water is leaking into your cab through the rear back window, dripping down from the headliner onto the seats. This appears to be caused by a cracked upper frame and a failed seal around the rear window. The fix will likely involve replacing or resealing the rear window assembly and repairing the frame damage.

I bought this vehicle used at around 105,000 miles. I have since spent almost $22,000 on repairing of the diesel exhaust system.. my vehicle is actually in the shop now it’s been in the shop since middle of October on and off as they cannot effectively diagnose the problem. Actually they can diagnose the problem. They just can’t fix the problem. I have all my receipts, but they are in the truck currently and the truck is currently at the dealership here in Imlay city Michigan. This issue has been going on for the last two years at around a total cost to me of $20,000.

The touch screen is delaminating. Due to the delaminating the truck randomly calls people, randomly turns functions on/off, it can be very distracting. The only way to solve the issue is to turn off the unit, however half the cars controls and controlled through the unit including some of the safety features so if the head unit is turned off I can’t use some of the safety features.

Service ESC flashing on the dash intermittently. If I am in cruise control when it happens vehicle abruptly disables cruise control. Codes when ready are U0002 and U0212. Same problem happened about a year ago, dealer reflashed ABS and sent me on my way. I informed them of other similar trucks experiencing the same issue and that it wasn't a reflash issue. Had them document my concerns that it would just happen again after warranty...I was right.

SYMPTOM: Driver side vanity mirror light and garage door (homelink) stop working with a short time period where they will work if held in a certain position. This is the second time this has happened, with the first time being under warranty (mileage estimated at 32000). I am well past warranty period. I disassembled the visor to find 2 frayed wires and a wire that has been severed at the point they entered the visor chamber from the guide tube (IMG_1819, IMG_1817, IMG-1821, &IMG-1820). In my opinion there is a flaw in the exit port that cause the wires rub against a relatively sharp tube edge as the visor is extended/retracked with no exit relieve, just some thin ineffective cloth tape, obiviously. FYI, the wires were pulled through the rod to better expose the damage. You can see some blackish residue on the wires of that thin cloth tape that was peeled back to view the damage (IMG_1817 & IMG_1822). While the images do not show it, the wires were routed through the channels of the visor caps as evident in curved cables in IMG_1821. My concern is that the frayed wires will cause a fire, personal shock or short circuit the vehicle while in operation, regardless of being a fused circuit. None of which has happened in my case. The visor has been replaced in the vehicle but NOT connected to power and as of this submission is available for inspection if needed. I have not contacted MFR

Continuation to NHTSA ID # 11511305 Adding some more details and photos of the Fire. (2019 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine) This is to describe the time frame from the start of the vehicle to when the fire department put out the fire. I have a store receipt that time stamps my checkout time at 2:11p CT, from the time I left the store, loaded my purchases into the truck, started and drove the car a very short distance, when the smoke started to pour out of the inside ventilation system, I pulled the truck over to the side of the road, got out of the truck and called 911 (time stamped from my phone was 2:29p CT. (18 minutes from checkout to 911 call. I Took a picture of the truck after the fire department put out the fire (time stamped 2:38p CT (9 minutes from the start of the 911 call). Adding some pictures of the burnt-out truck. What shows is that the fender on the driver’s side took the brunt of the heat, where all the electrical systems reside. Telling me that this was the main section that started on fire (possibility that the Heater Grid). This was definitely an electrical fire, given the smell and smoke that poured into the truck. I know there is a current recall by the auto maker. I think they should re-evaluate they years that this recall should affect, since my 2019 has the same parts used as the 2021-2023’s. Given the pictures below and the disaster that this caused, we were pretty lucky that it was just me and my wife in the vehicle. We were able to find a spot to pull over so it wouldn’t affect other traffic. What if we were stuck on a highway, in traffic, pulling a trailer in a rural area, who knows what else could have happened. The stress of this is overwhelming, something that I will relive over and over again. Photos and Fire Report attached.

March 10,2023 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L Diesel I picked up my truck from the dealership this morning, after they did the outstanding CP4 fuel pump recall. I drove the vehicle home (approx 20) miles. Parked the car in the driveway for about 3 hours. Then took a short trip to the store. After the store, when leaving the parking lot I noticed an electrical/plastic smell. Within in seconds smoke started to come through the air vents. I pulled the truck over, turned off the truck, open the hood when fire exspelled from the engine compartment. Immediately call the fire department. They arrived in minutes to put out the fire, but at that point the whole front end of the truck was on fire and smoking (dense white/gray smoke). Then there was a loud burst of flame that came from the engine compartment. The fire worked its way into the cab compartment, burned it completely. The truck is totaled.

Smoke emanated from the engine bay shortly after starting the vehicle first thing in the morning. The temperature outside was less 40*. Shortly after seeing smoke, the engine bay was engulfed in flames, centered on the hood, near the windshield. Newer vehicles have fire risk recalls regarding the intake-grid heater shorting out, but not the 2019 model. The grid heater would have been on due to the temperature. Please see the reports from the Police and Fire Department attached. The truck was totaled.

When the Temperature drops below 30, the truck will randomly give the warning "Battery Saver ON some systems may have reduced power". Then a random system will be shut down, the most noticeable system to get shut down is the radio.

WHILE DRIVING IN A 40MPH ZONE, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC)LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. AFTER BRAKING AND GETTING THE VEHICLE STOPPED, IT WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THE ETC LIGHT WENT OUT BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND WHILE EN ROUTE TO THE DEALER, THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON, THIS TIME RESULTING IN A POWER LOSS. IT HAPPENED WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY RAMP, AND COULD ONLY GET THE VEHICLE SPEED GRADUALLY UP TO 40. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO CLEAR CODES AND REPAIR, BUT KEPT VEHICLE OVERNIGHT FOR A TEST DRIVE. DURING THE DEALER TEST DRIVE, THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. SO FAR THERE HASN'T BEEN A RESOLUTION, BUT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT IS A BRAND NEW 2019, WITH ONLY APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES ON IT, OWNED LESS THAN A WEEK. *TR

WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS, THE UCONNECT 4C NAV SYSTEM WILL FREEZE, REBOOT OR MALFUNCTION PREVENTING CONTROL OF THE STEREO VOLUME (CANNOT TURN DOWN OR OFF), PREVENT MANAGEMENT OF TOWING SETTINGS, DISABLES CONTROLS FOR SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL HEATING (CANNOT TURN OFF OR CHANGE PREFERENCES), OBSTRUCTS BLUETOOTH CALL MANAGEMENT, DISRUPTS VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEMS AND BLOCKS CLIMATE CONTROL MANAGEMENT. IT ALSO VISUALLY DISTRACTS THE DRIVER BY REPEATED FLASHING A LARGE SCREEN ON AND OFF WITH NO ABILITY TO TURN OFF OR DISABLE IT AND CREATES AN INHOSPITABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR SAFE DRIVING. HERE IS A VIDEO THAT SHOWS THIS BEHAVIOR: HTTPS://WWW.DROPBOX.COM/S/MQLIWEXMQQMCSVF/IMG_4208.MOV?DL=0

VEHICLE HAS PUSH BUTTON START. I START THE VEHICLE AND LEAVE RUNNING IN THE MORNING TO DEFROST. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE VEHICLE I UNLOCKED IT WITH THE FOB WHILE I WAS WALKING THRU THE GARAGE. STOPPED IN THE GARAGE TO PICK SOMETHING UP AND ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED THE FOB. GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND DROVE OFF. WHY DOES THE VEHICLE ALLOW ME TO PUT IT IN GEAR WITHOUT THE FOB. IF I HAD HAD REMOTE START AND HAD STARTED IT WITH REMOTE START THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STOPPED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT HAVE GONE INTO DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING THE KEY FOB IN THE VEHICLE. I EXPECTED IT TO WORK THIS WAY WHEN I MANUALLY STARTED IT. WHY DOES IT NOT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD BE FIXED WITH A SOFTWARE UPGRADE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THE TECHNOLOGY SHOULD BE MADE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AND IN THIS CASE COULD EASILY BE MADE SAFER. (THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN I REALIZED I DID NOT HAVE THE FOB).

WHILE INSTALLING SIDE STEPS FOUND AN UNPROTECTED WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE TRUCK, JUST BEHIND THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. AFTER LOOKING CLOSER AT THE WIRES FOUND A WIRE WITH NICKED INSULATION, CONDUCTOR WAS SHOWING. DIDN'T CAUSE A PROBLEM, YET, HOWEVER HAVING A BUNDLE OF UNPROTECTED WIRING IN THIS LOCATION CREATES THE POTENTIAL TO DISABLE THE VEHICLE IF TIRE KICKED SOMETHING UP FROM ROAD AND SEVERED THE WIRES. I DIDN'T REPORT THIS TO DEALER, I TAPED THE WIRES TO PROTECT THEM FROM FURTHER DAMAGE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE ENGINE REVVED. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND MANUALLY SHIFTED THE GEARS IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE CORRECT READING. IN ADDITION, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT CONTROLLED THE RADIO AND CAMERA WOULD GLITCH AND HESITATED TO CHANGE VIEWS. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, DESPITE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHIFTED INTO PARK; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV AS IF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WERE DEPRESSED. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CROWN MOTORS (LOCATED AT 555 CYPRESS AVE, REDDING, CA 96001, 888-755-5922) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EGR VALVE CLOSED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH UPHILL, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT CAME TO A ROLLING STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO CODES WERE FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 64570388. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
