2016 Ram 1500 Suspension Problems

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 MPH, the ABS warning light was illuminated, and the contact decelerated to 40 MPH and drove a mile. The contact stated that the passenger's side front end made an abnormal sound and collapsed, and the contact was able to coast to the side of the road.

Air suspension failed while driving on interstate and nearly caused total loss of control of the vehicle. Truck violently bounces due to failure in air suspension system.

The air suspension went out on my ram 1500, and I cannot drive the vehicle. This happened when I was on the highway, and it almost made crash. After the service suspension light came on, the truck was incredibly hard to control.

I purchased my vehicle 2 months ago and no problems were reported to me. After a few weeks my driver side air bags on my suspension do not inflate. Motor is making sounds and inflating passenger side, but not driver side.

Air suspension randomly fails to inflate, 1 or multiple bags do not inflate. Drivability is very dangerous as you have no suspension keeping the tires on the ground when going over any bumps on the road. Steering can also be affected as it can lean to one side causing steering pull to that side that is deflated.

During cold weather (below 0) the air ride suspension does not work. It freezes up and creates a dangerous driving condition on rough or uneven roads. The vehicle bounces and looses traction to the road and could cause an accident to occur.

Knuckle broke at tie rod when entering a turn on the highway at approximately 55 MPH causing spin out and accident between vehicle and semi. When entering turn hit some slush felt something funny then vehicle lost control. There is no damage on the wheel or tire all contact from crash at front of vehicle is at side view mirror to the top of the headlight.

My pickup rebel "leans". My driver side will be down 2 inches (entry mode) on the stops while my passenger side is in (area mode). It's really unsafe to drive.

Air suspension compressor failed with truck in motion and the vehicle swerved. Vehicle now sits and drives lopsided. Truck had 59,573 miles when this happened.

Air ride suspension freezes in the winter, the system locks out and won't try and reinflate the airbags making the vehicle bounce as driving. When the vehicle bounces it becomes increasingly harder to drive on icy roads. Dealer installed a new breaker on the system, but system still locks out.

Takara recall my dodge ram has had many issues with the front end lowering its self it has happened 3 times now it's been back in the dealership twice so far for it everytime they say it's the air compressor system for it the last time it happened I ended up stranded on the side of the high way for 3 hours cuz ot caused a front tire to blow out so I was sitting on a flat and with the suspenstion system lowering it so far you cant wven attempt to try putting a spare on I eont even want this vehicle any more I dont feel safe driving it cuz the same problem constantly accurs and never gets resolved it might last a month if that after they "fix" it and it's back to doing the same thing it's a 53,000 thousand dollar truck with only 23 thousand miles on it I shouldn't be having this many problems and the date below is one of my records of when it was in the dealership to get fixed

Hello, I am wanting to file a complaint regarding my 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel. As of April 2025 my vehicle's Air Suspension system has been a Safety issue for me. I have noticed that the Service Air Suspension Immediatley, Service Air Suspension system messages have been displaying on my vehicle's dashboard.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Factory Air Suspension on 2016 RAM Rebel V8 5.7L Right Front broken elbow How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The right front broken elbow is causing my entire rear end of truck to sag to near ground level, leaving the front up high.

I bought this vehicle used and have had nothing but issues with the factory OEM Air Ride Suspension. Driving down any road, it will dump the air in the rear completely, sometimes it will dump the air on just the drivers side front and rear. I get dash warnings saying the air suspension is overheating and needs to cool.

Front suspension has completely bottomed out while the back is all the way raised making the truck sit awkwardly and drive extremely unstable and very roughly. You feel every bump on the road and hitting any kind of hole/bump will cause the truck to jerk. I definitely feel less safe driving this truck.

ABS Control Module has failed, diagnosed by the Ram Dealer in Cape Coral Fl 9/24. They say repair part not available with no date of in stock for repair. Places driver in danger as ABS and skid control are disabled.

I was driving on a blacktop road doing 60mph when I topped a hill and suddenly the road surface changed to mud and deep puddle of water , as I hit my brakes all the ABS BRAKE AND ANTI SKID LIGHTS on my dash lite up and the tires locked up and I slide almost sideways into a massive puddle of water at a very dangerous angle.

The air ride (air bags) have deflated and will not inflate. Had at dealer and was told $6000 to fix. I only had vehicle for a little over a year at that time.

The vehicle has an air ride suspension that has failed and after researching the issue it seems that this is an ongoing problem for a lot of owners. Without the air ride suspension the vehicle is difficult to control and until fixed it is also my only mode of transportation.

My truck is equipped with an air suspension system. During winter weather when temperatures dropped in the low 20's and lower, the air system blows a fuse and drops the suspension to an unsafe position for driving. It has occurred several times including while driving. A warning message sometimes (but not always) a warning is flashed on the screen to have the truck serviced immediately. I have had to cancel important trips to the hospital for my disabled wife because the truck is not reliable during Wisconsin winter weather. My local dealer has inspected and assessed he problem. He has given me an estimate to replace the system but cannot assure me that it will not fail. I called RAM customer service to get a technical explanation of the air suspension problem and solution from the manufacturer who designed and manufactured the product. I called RAM customer service seeking an answer. I cannot justify spending $4000 on something than will not solve the problem. I was not told by the original dealer that I couldn’t drive the truck in Wisconsin winters. There are many people complaining about this on RAM forums and other internet sites. This is obviously a problem and I need a truck that will be reliable to drive safely during winter.

The ram air suspension keeps failing causing the car to drop to bump stops and mounts around out of control. The suspension on my vehicle has been repaired multiple times throughout the years. And has failed once again during normal driving operations. It has once again been fixed just to fail within days. Then brought back to the dealership just to fail within hours of it being repaired again. There are also multiple complaints on forums and Facebook pages and websites about the failure.

The component that failed was the air ride suspension. When outside air temperature drooped to 0° then the air ride suspension lowered to the bottom and would not inflate. With this the wheels are out of alignment, tires scrape on fenders when turning and there is no suspension, spring action.

Factory 4 corner air suspension empties and truck lowers when cold. The suspension will drop in cold temps while driving. This then cause a very hard drive that is hard to control especially in snow.

Pickup's air suspension fails to work in extreme cold. In january of 2018 it was brought in to dealer as compressor had gone out. It was replaced but was delayed due to back order of the part so didn't get pickup back until march.

Air ride suspension seems to be an issue in numerous vehicles. The air bags deflate and the vehicle continues to try and inflate all throughout the night which drains the battery. It’s a continuous issue.

2016 RAM 1500 Air Suspension, I have seen many report of a faulty LEFT REARAIR BAGS dropping to the ground making unsafe to drive. I have seen many people repotting the Left Rear bag issues and when taking to the manufacture they refuse to troubleshooting and locate the issue but wants to replace the entire rear bags and compressor for more than $3000

My air ride system has failed three times making the truck unusable and as I looked into it it seem a lot of people are having the same issue. The truck is sitting on the frame and can not be driven even a few miles...

Vehicle shakes when at speeds over 50 but less than 70 MPH on highway.

Today with the cold weather my air ride suspension froze up causing me to have to drive my truck to work with the suspension lowered completely. The ride was very rough and if I would have had to take any emergency measures I most certainly would have ended up in the ditch. Fca is refusing to help us with this known issue
