Your Nissan had a manufacturer recall for the driver's side airbag that was serviced in January 2025, but four months later your airbag warning light started flashing. When you brought it back to the dealer in May 2025, diagnostic testing found error codes B1049 and B1054, and the dealer recommended replacing the airbag module and spiral cable for approximately $2,000. You're concerned that the airbag may not deploy properly in an accident, creating a serious safety risk.

Your air bag warning light turned on when you started your vehicle and has stayed on. Your dealer confirmed your car is part of a safety recall (NHTSA Campaign 23V067000) for air bag issues, but the repair parts aren't available yet. The dealer hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the problem, and you're concerned the manufacturer is taking too long to provide the necessary parts.

Your passenger airbag warning light turns on whenever an adult sits in the front passenger seat, which makes you worried the airbag won't deploy in a crash. This could indicate a problem with the airbag sensor or wiring that detects passenger weight. A technician will need to diagnose the airbag system to determine why the sensor isn't recognizing the passenger properly and ensure the airbag will work correctly.

Your airbag warning light stays on when you start your car, which is a safety concern because it means the airbag system may not work properly in a crash. The dealership confirmed this is a known issue and said Nissan is aware of it but has not issued a recall and won't fix it. The fix would likely involve diagnosing the airbag system's electrical components and replacing any faulty sensors or wiring.

Filed: May 2023

Your rear sub-frame has rusted through, which caused your rear wheel to fail and track incorrectly—creating a serious safety hazard. This happened without warning, and you discovered the problem yourself rather than through any warning light or dealer service. Fixing this will likely require replacing the entire rear sub-frame assembly.

While driving at 35 mph through a busy intersection, your car suddenly shuddered, all dashboard lights came on, and the engine shut down completely—leaving you without power steering or brakes. You were able to coast to safety, but this loss of control in heavy traffic created a serious hazard. The dealer diagnosed failed camshaft sensors and a faulty crankshaft sensor as the cause, and replaced all three components.

Filed: Mar 2022

When you pressed the brake pedal while approaching a red light at about 35 MPH, your Pathfinder accelerated instead of slowing down, causing it to run through the light. No warning lights appeared on your dashboard. You were able to coast to a stop and turn off the engine. After waiting 10 minutes and restarting, the problem didn't happen again when you took it to the dealer—the mechanic couldn't reproduce the issue. The dealer replaced your brakes and brake drums as a precaution.

Steering,air Bags1 issue

CrashFiled: Jun 2019

Your vehicle pulled unexpectedly to the left while driving on the freeway at 75 mph, causing you to lose control and drive into the median and down a steep embankment. The steering was difficult to control at highway speeds and pulled both left and right. During the rollover crash, the airbags failed to deploy, and the roof was crushed inward. This suggests potential failures in both the steering system and the airbag safety system that need immediate investigation.

Power Train,electrical System,vehicle Speed Control1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Filed: Mar 2019

Your radiator developed an internal leak that allowed transmission fluid and coolant to mix together, contaminating both systems. Your vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled while driving on the highway at 50 mph, with no prior warning signs despite regular maintenance. The transmission and radiator were replaced at a dealership for $5,086, but the owner is concerned the same defect may recur. Fixing this issue will require radiator replacement and transmission service or replacement to address the fluid contamination.

Air Bags,seat Belts1 issue
highAIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS
Filed: Mar 2020

While driving on a bumpy road, your side curtain airbag deployed unexpectedly even though there was no crash or rollover. The manufacturer's inspector found that the airbag sensor may have misinterpreted the road conditions as a potential rollover and triggered the deployment as designed. The front airbags did not deploy, and your seat belt worked normally. A technician will need to inspect and likely recalibrate or replace the airbag sensor system to prevent false deployments.

Fuel/propulsion System1 issue
highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Feb 2020

Your check engine light came on immediately when you started the vehicle and hasn't turned off since. A diagnostic test revealed the fault code P0181, which points to a problem with your fuel system. The light remains on even though no obvious issue is apparent. This typically requires fuel system component inspection and possible replacement to clear the fault code.

Steering,suspension1 issue
highSTEERING,SUSPENSION
Filed: Nov 2019

Your car's steering is deteriorating and you're hearing popping noises coming from the front suspension. This suggests wear in the steering and suspension components that should be inspected soon. A mechanic will need to check the steering linkage, ball joints, and suspension components to identify which parts are worn and need replacement.

Power Train,vehicle Speed Control,engine1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
Filed: Feb 2019

After you drained and replaced your coolant and radiator fluid due to a milky fluid leak, your car now revs at high RPMs before shifting into gear when you press the gas pedal, especially after backing up. This delay in shifting creates a safety concern because your car takes longer to accelerate, putting you at risk if another vehicle is approaching. The transmission may need inspection or servicing to resolve the shifting delay.

NHTSA #: 11181303
Power Train,engine1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE
Filed: Sep 2018

Your engine coolant (antifreeze) is mixing with your transmission fluid, causing a yellow milky sludge to build up in the radiator while your transmission fluid runs dry. This happens when the radiator develops an internal leak that allows coolant to seep into the transmission system. The fix will likely involve replacing the radiator and flushing both the cooling and transmission systems.

Filed: Feb 2018

Your dashboard warning light came on indicating that the airbag system was disabled. A Nissan dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty sensor in the driver's seat, which triggered the warning light. The dealer determined this is not covered under warranty and quoted $1,700 to repair it. The repair would involve replacing the defective seat sensor to restore proper airbag function.
