NHTSA Campaign: 23V268000

Component: SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023 Rogue, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. The driver's powered seat may not be fully secured to the seat frame, causing the seat frame welds to detach from the rear inboard seat bracket.

Risk: An unsecured seat with broken welds may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the driver's seat rail clearance, and if necessary, replace the driver's seat cushion frame, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 10, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC966, PC967.

Your rear brake pads are wearing out much faster than expected—at 29,000 miles, they have only 1mm of material left, while your front pads show normal wear. Your car didn't give any warning lights or alerts before this happened. The fix will likely involve replacing the rear brake pads and inspecting the rear brake system to determine why they're wearing prematurely.

Your rear brake pads and rotors are wearing out much faster than normal — the pads were nearly worn at just 14,600 miles, while the front brakes were still in good condition. This unusual wear pattern happened despite normal driving and no aggressive use, and a Nissan service advisor mentioned seeing this issue on other Pathfinders, possibly related to the brake system's electronic controls or Auto Hold feature. Excessive rear brake wear can reduce your braking power and increase stopping distances, creating a safety concern. The fix will likely require Nissan to inspect the brake system's electronic controls, parking brake behavior, and software to identify why the rear brakes are being applied or dragged excessively.

At 33,221 miles, your 2023 Nissan Pathfinder's rear brake pads were found to be worn out and the rotors needed resurfacing. You mention this appears to be a known issue affecting 2022 and 2023 Pathfinders, with rear pads being smaller than front pads and wearing prematurely despite mostly highway driving. The fix will require replacing the rear brake pads and having the rotors resurfaced or replaced.

Your rear brakes needed replacement at just 20,000 miles because they weren't fully releasing, causing you to ride the brakes continuously. A second mechanic confirmed this was a manufacturing defect, not normal wear. The dealership acknowledged they've seen this problem frequently on this model, which raises concerns about a potential safety issue if the brakes fail completely or remain stuck. This will likely require brake system inspection, possible replacement of brake components, and investigation into the assembly process.

Your rear brake pads and rotors wore out excessively and needed replacement at just over 19,000 miles. While the dealer treated this as normal wear, you believe this is a known issue affecting multiple vehicles that Nissan hasn't addressed through a recall. Fortunately the problem was caught before your brakes failed completely. The fix will involve replacing the worn brake pads and rotors.

Your 2023 Nissan Pathfinder's brakes vibrate noticeably when you press the pedal, feeling similar to warped rotors or worn brake pads—even though your vehicle only has about 25,000 miles. You shouldn't expect brake problems this early in the vehicle's life. The issue likely involves inspecting and possibly replacing the brake rotors and pads.

Your 2023 Nissan Pathfinder's Around View Monitor camera system has stopped working completely — the camera button doesn't respond, and you can't see any camera views (rear, front, or surround) even through the vehicle settings. Since your parking sensors and infotainment screen still work, this appears to be an electronic control module failure rather than a single camera problem. This is a safety concern because you lose rear visibility when reversing and parking. The repair will likely require replacing the camera system's electronic control module.

Your panoramic sunroof's drain system is leaking water into the cabin during rain, with water dripping from the overhead console and door area on the driver's side. This appears to be a known design issue with the front drain grommets that can clog from debris like sand, even under normal conditions. The dealer inspected your vehicle but didn't perform a thorough diagnosis and denied warranty coverage, despite your vehicle being within the 3-year warranty period. Fixing this will likely involve cleaning or replacing the sunroof drain lines and front drain grommets to restore proper water drainage.

Your Pathfinder's around-view monitor (AVM) cameras have stopped working without any clear reason. Since your Pathfinder is a large vehicle with significant blind spots, these cameras are important for safe parking and backing up. Your local Nissan dealership inspected and confirmed the problem, but hasn't resolved it yet. The camera system will likely need to be repaired or replaced by a technician.

Filed: Sep 2025

Your air vents release a mold and mildew smell every time you start the vehicle. The dealership has replaced both cabin air filters and cleaned the evaporator, but the odor persists and they now claim they cannot detect it. Since your vehicle is certified and nearly new, this recurring smell despite professional cleaning and service suggests an ongoing moisture or contamination issue in the HVAC system. The fix may require further evaporator cleaning, inspection of the HVAC drain system, or replacement of interior cabin components where mold has taken hold.

Seat Belts1 issue
criticalSEAT BELTS
Filed: Mar 2026

Your Pathfinder's second row seat belts have had serious problems with their locking mechanisms. Two buckles failed to lock in place, and a third buckle got stuck and wouldn't release — your dealer replaced the first two, but the third one failed before it could be fixed. Because the buckle was lost, you had to cut the seat belt as a safety measure. This puts passengers at risk since they can't be properly restrained.

Fuel/propulsion System,back Over Prevention1 issue
criticalFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION
Filed: Jan 2026

Your fuel pump has failed three times in less than a year, causing your engine to stall without warning while driving in traffic—including on the highway. When the fuel pump fails, your driver's seat also moves backward away from the steering wheel and pedals, which could cause you to lose control of the car. Additionally, your infotainment system has failed twice, which disables your backup and side-view cameras, making it harder to see when backing up or changing lanes. The dealership has confirmed these issues and replaced the fuel pump three times and the infotainment system twice, but the problems keep happening unpredictably. A complete fuel pump replacement and infotainment system diagnostic or replacement will likely be needed to address these recurring failures.

highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your vehicle's idle stop feature shut off the engine at a red light, but when the light turned green and you pressed the gas pedal, the car didn't respond—it had shut off completely. You had to restart the engine and manually shift it into Drive, which caused you to hesitate in traffic while vehicles behind you honked. This unexpected delay at a 45 mph intersection created a safety concern and potential risk of being rear-ended.

When you closed the driver's side front door, you heard a cracking sound and the rear window completely shattered and fell inward. This suggests the rear window may have a manufacturing defect or structural weakness that causes it to fail when the door is closed.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your rear brakes are wearing out prematurely and shaking or vibrating when you brake at speeds above 30-40 mph, even though your dealership says they're fine each time you bring it in. Your passenger-side heated seats have stopped working suddenly. Your dealership also recommended replacing the battery due to warning signs, though you declined since the vehicle has no obvious battery problems. You're concerned these are common issues on this model that dealers push customers to fix.

highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Dec 2025

Your forward collision warning system light stays on continuously on your dashboard and won't turn off, even after the dealer replaced the module for $2,500. You've also noticed the light triggering with a chime alarm and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. The dealer has been unable to resolve the issue despite their attempts, leaving you hesitant to drive the vehicle. This may require additional diagnostic work or replacement of related electrical components in the collision avoidance system.

Filed: Dec 2025

The steering wheel control buttons on your 2023 Pathfinder are losing their spring tension and becoming loose, causing them to activate accidentally when you drive over bumps. Since these buttons control important safety features like lane departure warning, collision avoidance, parking sensors, and blind spot detection, unintended activation can interfere with these systems. The fix will likely require replacement of the steering wheel control switch assembly or individual button components.

Your passenger-side captain seat frame has excessive movement that causes shaking and noise when someone sits in it. The frame was replaced in May 2024 but developed the same problem again within a year. After a deer collision on October 17, 2025, the noise got worse and inspection found the frame is now in critical condition. The seat frame may need to be inspected for structural damage or replaced again to eliminate the movement and noise.

Power Train1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Oct 2025

You're hearing a high-pitched whistling sound from the front right of your vehicle when accelerating, which your mechanic confirmed is a vacuum leak in the intake manifold runner. This is causing a lean air-fuel mixture that can lead to engine misfires, rough idle, poor acceleration, and stalling. Nissan has denied warranty coverage for this part despite it being part of the powertrain, and the part is currently on national backorder. Fixing this will require replacing or repairing the intake manifold runner to seal the vacuum leak.

Filed: Nov 2025

Your front parking assist sensors are beeping constantly and loudly, even when your car is stopped or moving slowly under 6 mph, as if there's an object in front of you when there isn't one. The dealer has confirmed the problem through service visits but found no error codes in the system. Fixing this will likely require recalibrating or replacing the front parking sensors.
