Your vehicle is stuck in 4-wheel drive mode, which significantly limits your ability to drive normally. This is a known issue with 2014 Cherokees where the power transfer unit (PTU) overheats or leaks fluid into the electronics, causing the 4WD system to lock up and display warning messages like "Service 4WD" or "4WD System Unavailable." You should contact your dealership to determine if this problem is covered under an existing recall.

Rear tires locked up in reverse. While in gear they lock up randomly. Car shut off and broke down while driving on expressway and lost control. No accident but could’ve been bad. 4x4 light on says svc. Mechanic says shows signs of new safety recall 02C? Talked to Jeep dealership and they weren’t aware of such recall on this model. Need help on who to contact and what to do.

The service parking brake warning pops up on start up (P)!, along with the engine light and the traction control light. A warning that says service parking brake appears, around with a service transmission warning, and occasionally another message saying 4wd unavailable at the moment. Another message says restart car in park at zero speed, which the car is already in park & not moving. The car is not drivable when all of these are on. If I attempt to change gears, the gear light flashes & when the car shifts gears it is very loud. It is also hard to turn the wheel. The emergency park has also come on, in it's own, while driving. Almost killed me on the highway. Had also done it in my driveway, when starting to pull out. Also when the engine auto shifts, it makes like a whining noise. The engine sounds to go in overdrive whenever going down hills or up hills. Down is worse though. This has been doing this since I got the car in 2021. I expressed these issues to the place I bought the car from, just days after buying it, and they refused to fix anything even though it was under the 30 day warranty. They claimed no issues. I have proof of mentioning these issues, to the person who sold me the car through the dealership.

The vehicle turns off while running, all lights on dashboard turn OFF and the vehicle dies completely. I lose power steering, brakes everything just turns off. After the vehicle comes to a complete stop I can put in parking again and the vehicle turns back on. This has happened 3 times already, luckily I have been driving it where there is no a lot of traffic, but no longer drive it on the highway it would not be safe. It happened after the light SVC 4WD turned on.

There is 3 things going on with this Jeep. First thing the service shifter is on. Second the power steering will go out and come back on at different times. Lastly if you shut the car off it may not start again for awhile and you will get a message on the dash that says engine to warm to start. I contacted Jeep they said to take it in. We aren’t in a position to just Let them keep running diagnostics on our car we have a code reader and it is not throwing any codes. Our Jeep started acting up after they did the one recall On it.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that after shifting to park(P) with the engine running, the contact exited the vehicle and offloaded groceries. After returning to the vehicle and shifting into drive(D), the steering wheel seized and became difficult to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was charged; however, after diagnosing the vehicle, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle then performed without failure for four days however, the failure then recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake pads needed to be replaced and the power steering module also needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

My 2014 Jeep has been experiencing intermittent shut downs, the dash goes dead at random times for a few seconds and then comes back on the issue continues. This issue started in December 2021 during that time I was driving at night and the dash, exterior lights and interior lights started flickering. Now this issue occurs 90% of the time when I drive, sometimes when the dash goes off different warning lights come on, TCS, SRS, Power steering and if the vehicle is traveling below 5mph it sometimes dies completely. Battery was replaced 1 year ago. The middle screen on the dash gets super dim and it appears to still be on if you look closely at night but the dials are frozen at the current speed and rpm. My mechanic tested the battery connection and there is nothing loose that would cause this.

The vehicle speed accelerates on its own when trying to come to a complete stop which almost caused me to rear end another car at a traffics light, the powertrain is completely off and creates an unsafe riding experience which impacts the steering and control of the vehicle, stalls randomly. There is rough shifting with the transmission, which jerks the car periodically. When driving at a speed above 60 entire vehicle shimmer and shakes uncontrollably, feels like the tires are getting ready to detach from the vehicle when driving at higher speeds and mostly when trying to come to a complete stop.

Wife and I were towing our 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk behind our 28,000 LB Motorhome and it began to shake and wobble so bad we had to pull over. We got 35 miles from our Home base in Ohio. Sat on the side of the road about 20 min and took off again toward an exit about a mile ahead. It did not wobble so we drove on. About 30 miles later it did it again. After it did it 5 times in 80 miles we decided to have the Jeep hauled home and put away for the Winter and we left for the South.

After filling my jeep with gas this will cause the jeep to stalls then shuts off and all kinds of warnings and code appear. It will radom shut off and is extremely dangerous. Dealership could not diagnose . This is happening regularly. Goggle says many others have experienced this problem as well

On several occasions returning from Montana to Missouri, while flat towing our Cherokee behind our Motorhome, when driving on uneven pavement (typically when entering construction zones) the Jeep goes into a terrible wobble which can only be haulted by completely stopping. On one occasion there was no shoulder to pull off and with only one remaining lane of traffic, we stopped all traffic behind us to remedy the situation. Only by the grace of God where we not involved in a collision OR the cause of one. I have just learned in researching this site, that this has been a known and ongoing problem. Jeep needs to be forced to at minimum send warnings to all owners where this potential problem exists.

Transmission shifted from D to N by its self as I was driving. Luckily hadn’t gotten on the highway yet. A minute later I would have been in the highway when it did it. It said “shift to p” the. It said to service transmission and a number of other things then would not shift after I FINALLY got it to engage. This is the second or third time this has happened! When going around a bend on a highway doing highway speed if I hit a bump I get a very bad vibration in the steering wheel and it makes the car swerve to the point of possibly wrecking. Have taken it to dealership (Jeff Wyler Batavia OH) for the same issue numerous times and they say they can’t find anything every time but there is clearly something wrong with it! I used to stand behind Jeep. I no longer can. Within a year of me owning it I’ve replaced Oil cooler gasket, timing gasket, rear diff gasket, and rear axle seal. It had only 80k miles when I had to replace all of this! Now to see what the hell is going on with it now! DO NOT BUY A MOPAR VEHICLE! I HIGHLY SUGGEST HONDA, HYUNDAI, or TOYOTA!

CAR STALLS AFTER REFUELING TO FULL CAPACITY. SHUTTERED AND STALLED 3 TIMES AFTER REFUELING TANK. THE CAR GIVES OFF MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS RANGING FROM TRANSMISSION TO BATTERY, DESPITE THE TRANSMISSION AND BATTERY BEING PERFECTLY FINE. ONCE THE CAR BEGINS TO STALL, THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND ALL POWER IS LOST. THE CAR MUST BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, SOMETIMES IT STRUGGLES TO RESTART

I WENT TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AND WAS TOLD AND SHOWED (IN PICTURES TAKEN BY THE ATTENDANT) THAT MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL OIL LEAKS. THE ATTENDANT ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE VEHICLE COULD CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE OF THE OIL LEAKS. I WAS THEN ASKED IF I HAD HAD ANY MECHANICAL WORK DONE ON MY VEHICLE AND I REPLIED NO SINCE I HADN'T HAD ANY WORK DONE OTHER THAN MAINTENANCE. THE MANAGER THEN TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD BE VERY ANGRY AND TAKE MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT SEEMED LIKE THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WERE NOT PUT TOGETHER PROPERLY WHICH IS WHY I HAVE SEVERAL OIL LEAKS.

DRIVING THE CAR THE ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK IN POSITION, MOVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN SERVICING. SEVERAL CODES CAME UP AND WERE ADDRESSED BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. CODES WERE U0131, U0418, U0131-87, U0415 AND U0428. NO ISSUE UNTIL CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE LATEST RECALL. CAR WITH DEALER. SAY IT'S A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REPAIR. NOT ONCE HAVE I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR IN 4YRS UNTIL DEALER SERVICED IT FOR STEERING WHEEL RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING SHIFT TO PARK AND SHIFT TO DESIRE GEARS. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING A DRIVEWAY OR WHILE IN REVERSE AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO SHAKE AND JERK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND PULLED TO THE LEFT WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED SHIFT TO PARK AND SHIFT TO DESIRE GEARS AND ALSO INDICATED SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND ALSO SERVICE BRAKES. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, SHIFTED OUT OF NEUTRAL THEN INTO PARK BEFORE SELECTING DRIVE. THE VEHICLE DROVE NORMAL TO HALF A BLOCK BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SPIRIT AUTOMOTIVE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4611 AVENUE Q, LUBBOCK, TX 79412), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SOFTWARE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN). AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND BEFORE REACHING HER RESIDENCE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, COASTED INTO HER DRIVEWAY AND STALLED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED THE CONTACT AND INFORMED HER THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,700.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. FEBRUARY 18, 2020, WHILE DRIVING I-95 N, DOING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH OUR VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, IT BEEPED, AND SIGNALED "SERVICE POWER STEERING". IMMEDIATELY OUR VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JOLTED. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE CAR TO THE SIDE TO THE ROAD. WE SHUT THE CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND REGAINED POWER STEERING. TALK ABOUT A SCARY EXPERIENCE, WE WOULD LOSE AND REGAIN POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF CURVES, ABRUPTLY JOLTING AND SHAKING THE STEERING WHEEL ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. WE MADE IT TO THE DEALER AND LEFT IT FOR DIAGNOSTIC. FEBRUARY 22,2020, WE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP HAVING OUR ISSUE "REPAIRED. $3700 DOLLARS LATER, WE FOUND OUT THAT OUR GEARBOX RACK AND PINION HAD GONE BAD CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOTE, THE CHEROKEE BARELY HAS 37K MILES ON IT! IN FEAR OF LOOSING POWER STEERING AGAIN WE SERVICED THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS 100% OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE AS CHRYSLER FIAT AS WELL AS THE JEEP DEALERSHIP DECLINED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. FEBRUARY 26,2020, JUST 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE "FIXED" WE LOST POWER STEERING. IT WAS OUR WORST NIGHTMARE ALL OF AGAIN. WE CALLED JEEP, AND WITH LACK OF CONCERN, THEY ADVISED US TO TAKE IT BACK TO SERVICE AS IT COULD NOW BE A DEFECTIVE PART INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. FEBRUARY 28, 2020, IS OUR SECOND SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH JEEP, HOWEVER WE ARE AFRAID THIS IS A DEEPER ISSUE THAN MEETS THE EYE. WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE AND FEAR FOR CATASTROPHIC INJURY FOR US AND OTHERS. WE FEAR FOR OTHERS THAT MIGHT POTENTIALLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR CHEROKEES. FOR ANYONE THAT IS READING THIS, HAVE YOUR CAR LOOKED AT, YOU MIGHT NOT BE AS LUCKY AS WE WERE. GOD FORBID WE WERE ON A SWITCHBACK ROAD AND LOST POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHARP TURN. WE WOULD HAVE GONE OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. JEEP NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY INURED.

AS I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AROUND 9PM I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT OFF AT SOME POINT, BUT AS I APPROACHED A CURVY BRIDGE I HAD TO SLIGHTLY TURN WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO FOLLOW THE CURVE, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT HARD LIKE I COULDNT FULLY STEER THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS AGAIN IT WAS ON A CURVY BRIDGE AND VERY DARK ON THIS ROADWAY. WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY BUT ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYED ON. NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET TO MY PARENTS HOUSE WHEN AS HE BACKED OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY THE WHEEL LOCKED AND HE COULDNT STEER. SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND TURNED THE CORNER ONLY TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY LOCK AGAIN AS HE TRIED TO TURN THE CORNER AND CAR JUST DIED. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR RESTARTED AND WAS JUST BARELY ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO MY MOMS WHERE IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND HE HAD TO LEAVE THERE.THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE.

WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS AND SUDDENLY ITS STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO STEER . THE DASH COMES ON WITH AN ERROR ON SCREEN SAYING, "CAR MUST BE IN PARK IN ORDER TO SHIFT." TURNING THE KEY DOES NOTHING UNTIL WE TRY MULTIPLE TIMES.

THEN A TRACTION ICON LIT UP AND IMMEDIATELY THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND I COULDN'T STEER; I WAS GOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! I ATTEMPTED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM BUT IT'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND THERE'S NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES TO SCAN. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A FLATBED TO TOW THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. CHRYSLER SAID THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE AND IT'S NOT PART OF ANY RECALL SO THIS WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO REPAIR.

THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR TOWING IS VERY CLEAR AND WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS AS PROVIDED AND AS INSTRUCTED BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. LAST THURSDAY NIGHT (MAY 30TH 2019) ON HWY 24 IN KENTUCKY WE HIT A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD AND THE JEEP WENT INTO A DEATH WOBBLE THAT BROUGHT THE ENTIRE RV COACH FROM 65 MPH TO A DEAD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE DARK OF NIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC!!! BY GOD'S GRACE ONLY ARE WE NOT DEAD!! NO DRIVER EXPECTS AN RV TO BE PARKED ON THE HIGHWAY (EMERGENCY FLASHERS OR NOT). WE HAVE BEEN SCARED BEFORE WITH THIS AT A LOWER SPEED OF 30 TO 40 MPH, BUT NEVER AT FULL HIGHWAY SPEED! WE ARE TERRIFIED TO TOW THIS VEHICLE EVEN THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY SOLD AS TOW-ABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS, I FIND OUT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP 2014 / 2015 MODELS AND THAT A ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS IS NOW REQUIRED TO TOW THE VEHICLE SAFELY - HOWEVER - JEEP WANTS TO CHARGE YOU FOR THIS PART AND INSTALL!!! THIS IS PURE EVIL ON JEEPS PART. THEY KNOW OF THE ISSUE AND ARE PUSHING THE REPAIR OFF ON THE OWNER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY ADVERTISED AND SOLD AS TOW-ABLE WITH NO NEED FOR ANY ADAPTATIONS. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN GETTING THESE VEHICLES REPAIRED. I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY JEEP THAT MY LIFE IS IN DANGER. WE HAVE FLAT TOWED OUR JEEP ACCORDING TO MANUAL SINCE WE PURCHASED IN 2014. ON A FEW OCCASIONS WE HAD INTERMITTENT WOBBLING OF THE MOTORHOME WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS DUE TO WATER IN THE MOTORHOME'S HOLDING TANKS. ON RECENT TRIP WE HAD TRAVELED LESS THAN TEN MILES ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OUR JEEP TOW CAR BEGAN TO SWERVE VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. WE WERE DRIVING STRAIGHT BETWEEN 55-60 MPH WITH NO ON-BOARD WATER. A DRIVER BEHIND US STOPPED AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH OUR JEEP SINCE IT WAS SWERVING VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE, NOT THE MOTORHOME. WE INSPECTED EVERYTHING AND THERE WERE NO FLAT TIRES AND CONTINUED SLOWLY. THE EVENT OCCURRED REPEATEDLY AFTER WE CROSSED A BRIDGE OR PATCH OF ROUGH HIGHWAY. WE EVENTUALLY UNHITCHED THE JEEP AND MY WIFE FOLLOWED BEHIND THE MOTORHOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. MY WIFE LATER LEARNED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA THAT MOPAR ISSUED A WIRING HARNESS TO REPAIR THE LACK OF POWER TO THE STEERING SYSTEM WHEN THE JEEP IS FLAT TOWED. WE WERE NEVER WARNED OF THIS ISSUE BY MOPAR AND COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF WE WERE TOWING WITH A SMALLER MOTORHOME. WE CALLED MOPAR AND THEY CONFIRMED A REPAIR KIT WAS AVAILABLE BUT THAT IT MAY VOID OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THE WIRING HARNESS BUT HAVE NOT SCHEDULED THE REPAIR. ALSO, WE WERE TOLD WE MUST PAY OUR $100 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL JEEP OWNERS THAT ARE UNKNOWINGLY TOWING A JEEP THAT COULD GO OUT-OF-CONTROL AT ANY MOMENT. I T WAS ALL I COULD DO TO HOLD RV STRAIGHT AS IT WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN FREEWAY. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY PERFORMED A "SOFTWARE UPGRADE" AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS WHILE TOWING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE BEHIND MY CLASS A MOTORHOME. IN 2016 THE LAST OCCURRENCE, AND THE MOST WORRISOME FOR ME, OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ON A MAJOR TRIP IN SEPTEMBER. APPROACHING A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, THERE WAS A CROSS-OVER FROM THE WEST BOUND LANES INTO THE EASTBOUND INSIDE LANE. THIS CROSS-OVER HAD A DIFFERENCE IN CROSS-SLOPE AND AN ABRUPT CHANGE OF GRADE. TRAFFIC WAS GOING AT ABOUT 40-45 MILES PER HOUR AT THE POINT OF THE CROSS-OVER. THE WOBBLE OCCURRED JUST AS I WAS CROSSING FROM THE WESTBOUND TO EASTBOUND LANE. IT WAS A VIOLENT WOBBLE, WITH A HUGE SIDE SWAY HAPPENING AT THE REAR OF THE MOTORHOME. I SLOWED DOWN AS MUCH AS I COULD. I PUT ON MY FLASHERS AND CONTINUED AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO FIND A CROSS SLOPE IN THE MEDIAN WHERE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP. UNTIL I FOUND THIS AREA, I WAS FIGHTING THE WILDLY SWINGING REAR END OF MY MOTORHOME AND THE JEEP WOBBLING BACK AND FORTH BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER SPECULATED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE REPAIR, WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE SOFTWARE WAS RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. (MY VEHICLE WAS DEEMED NOT TO NEED THE NEW TRANSAXLE WIRING HARNESS PARTS, ONLY THE SOFTWARE UPDATE.) UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, THE BATTERY LIGHT AND ALARM CHIME CAME ON WHILE MAKING A U-TURN AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AT LOW SPEED. AT THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT, I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF STEERING AS SLOWING TO A STOP. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE LEFT TURN AS THE STEERING RE-ENGAGED UPON ACCELERATION. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD EXTREME DIFFICULTY TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, AS STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND SPEED DECELERATED TO A STOP. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP VEHICLE BACK THE SHORT DISTANCE TO THE DEALERSHIP BY KEEPING OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY AND USING PARKING LOTS AND BACK STREETS. THIS OCCURRENCE OF EVENTS WAS THE SAME AS MY HUSBAND EXPERIENCED PRIOR TO THE S-55 TRANSAXLE WIRING HARNESS RECALL SOFTWARE UPDATE, EXCEPT HE EVENTUALLY ALSO LOST ALL EMOTIVE POWER (COMPLAINT # 10915926). AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, OPENING THE DOOR TO POWER OFF THE ELECTRONICS, AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO WORK PROPERLY AND THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS GONE. THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP AWAY FROM HOME WITH MY FAMILY AT BOTH LOW SPEED AND HIGH SPEED. IT OCCURRED ONCE MORE WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT, WHICH CAUSED ME TO NARROWLY MISS HITTING A POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS DIRECTING TRAFFIC, BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO DROP THE VEHICLE OFF AT A DEALERSHIP. AT LOW SPEEDS, IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AT A LOW ENOUGH RADIUS TO PARK OR MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO OR OUT OF TRAFFIC. I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE A VERY STRONG PERSON AND I WAS REQUIRED TO USE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF FORCE USING BOTH HANDS TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHILE THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO BREAK THE STEERING WHEEL OR BEND THE STEERING COLUMN JUST TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN OUT OF TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET. I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE DRIVING WITHOUT HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING IN OLDER VEHICLES, AND I KNOW THAT I WAS REQUIRED TO USE TWO TO THREE TIMES MORE FORCE IN THIS INSTANCE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK WAS THE CAUSE OF THE VEHICLE'S ISSUE. THIS FAILURE, WHICH OCCURRED EACH TIME WITHOUT WARNING, HAS CAUSED ME TO FEEL UNEASY ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WITH MY WIFE AND INFANT SON IN THE CAR. WE HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN WHEN WE RAN OVER A PARTICULARLY ROUGH EXPANSION JOINT ON THE INTERSTATE. GOING FROM 65 MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP ON A BUSY INTERSTATE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF IT BEING VERY DANGEROUS IS WHEN THE "WOBBLE", OCCURS WHEN WE ARE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE THERE ARE ROUGH ROADS. COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ALSO CREATES A SITUATION THAT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WE PULL THE JEEP BEHIND A 40' 2013 NEWMAR DUTCH STAR. OUR TOW BAR IS A BLUE OX AVAIL 10,000 LB TOW BAR. WE KEEP THE MOTORHOME AND TOW BAR IN GOOD CONDITION AND I DON'T BELIEVE OUR EQUIPMENT IS THE CAUSE OF THE "WOBBLE". AFTERWARDS VEHICLE INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A FEW RESTARTS AND ONCE PUT IN DRIVE GEARS WOULD SHIFT ROUGHLY. AFTER MULTIPLE TIMES OF TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF THINGS WILL RETURN TO NORMAL BUT AS STATED BEFORE I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TRIGGERS THE TRANSMISSION TO DISENGAGE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY AND HIGHWAY GOING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS.

ON 10/18/2015, WHILE FLAT TOWING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON I-5 NEAR SAN CLEMENTE, CA BEHIND OUR RV, WE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE SWERVING SENSATION. WHILE WORKING TO CONTROL THE RV, I VIEWED VIA THE REAR CAMERA, THE CHEROKEE ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE, VIOLENTLY SHAKING THE RV. THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO BE FLAT TOWED BEHIND THE RV, AND WAS CONNECTED TO THE RV WITH A BLUE-OX TOWING SYSTEM. I HAD PREVIOUSLY TOWED THE JEEP CHEROKEE APPROXIMATELY 14,000 MILES PRIOR TO THIS EVENT WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE VIOLENT SWAYING CONTINUED THROUGH THE BRAKING PROCESS, AND DID NOT CEASE UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER STOPPING ON I-5, A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION DID NOT IDENTIFY AN OBVIOUS CAUSE SUCH AS A FLAT/SOFT TIRE ON THE RV OR JEEP, LOOSE OR DAMAGED TOW BAR. I SLOWLY EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND PARKED IN A SAFE LOCATION FOR A CLOSER INSPECTION. TURNING THE JEEP'S IGNITION TO "ON" WITHOUT STARTING, I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC STABILITYCONTROL LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER CHECKING VARIOUS RV FORUMS, I DISCOVERED THAT OTHERS WITH 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WHICH SEEMS TO RESOLVE ITSELF AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I CONTINUED ON MY JOURNEY WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS AND THE WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH RESET WITHIN A DAY OR SO. IT APPEARS TO BE A UNIQUE PROBLEM TO 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES ACCORDING TO VARIOUS RV FORUMS. MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ACTIVE DRIVE II TRANSMISSION SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR FLAT TOWING BEHIND MY RV.

EXPERIENCED AN UNCONTROLLABLE CAR WOBBLE PROBLEM THREE TIMES, WHILE FLAT TOWING OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEHIND OUR MOTOR HOME IN SEPTEMBER ON TRIP FROM WYOMING TO MICHIGAN. AN IRREGULARITY IN THE HIGHWAY INITIATES A VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE WOBBLE OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WHICH APPEARS TO ATTAIN A NATURAL FREQUENCY THAT REQUIRES BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE HALT TO STOP THE OSCILLATING. THE THIRD TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS LIFE THREATENING ON I-80 SOUTH OF CHICAGO AT RUSH HOUR WITH FIVE LANES OF TRAFFIC AT 60 PLUS MPH. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE WHERE I COULD GET MY RIG OFF TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHICH OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE NEW JEEP CHEROKEE. EVEN THOUGH CHRYSLER SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED THE NEW JEEP CHEROKEE TO BE FLAT TOWED BEHIND A MOTORHOME, AND WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, THE UNPREDICTABLE DANGER THE WOBBLE PROHIBITS FLAT TOWING. A FAST GROWING NUMBER OF CONSUMERS WHO EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM NEED ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER ON HOW TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE INSTIGATE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER AS THERE HAS BEEN NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE PROBLEM ON THEIR PART. WE HAVE OUR TRAVEL PLANS ON HOLD UNTIL WE CAN HAVE A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING MY MOTOR HOME IN EXTREMELY HEAVY WINDS AT THE TIME AND THE MOTOR HOME AND MY JEEP 2014 LATITUDE (4 CYLINDER) WITH ACTIVE DRIVE II STARTED TO SWAY RATHER VIOLENTLY SIDE TO SIDE. I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AT THE TIME. REALLY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING BUT BOTH THE RV AND CHEROKEE WERE SWAYING VIOLENTLY. I COULD SEE THE CHEROKEE IN MY REAR VIEW CAMERA. I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD BLOWN A TIRE ON THE RV OR SUFFERED A MAJOR SUSPENSION PROBLEM ON THE RV. WAS REALLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE RV AND COULD HAVE REALLY RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND GET STOPPED WITHOUT HAVING AN ACCIDENT. OF COURSE I GOT OUT AND CHECKED EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE BUT COULD NOT FIND ONE THING THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I CONTINUED OUR TRIP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT BUT TO THIS DAY I AM PERPLEXED AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE VIOLENT SWAYING. THE ONLY POSSIBLE REASON I CAN EVEN IMAGINE IS THE STRONG WINDS AT THE TIME. HOWEVER, THAT IS SIMPLY A GUESS AND AS STATED EARLIER I REALLY DO NOT A VALID AND SCIENTIFIC REASON FOR THE SWAYING. I CAN HOWEVER SAY WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY THAT THE INCIDENT WAS VERY, VERY FRIGHTENING AND EASILY COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR CATASTROPHE. WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE REASON SO IT COULD BE CORRECTED. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT IN WHICH THE COMPUTER OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE HAS MALFUNCTIONED. I HAD IT SERVICED FOR THE SECOND TIME JUST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. IN THIS PARTICULAR ACCIDENT, THE SCREEN FROZE, MY PHONE WAS CHARGING AND WHEN THE SCREEN FROZE MY PHONE WAS POWERED OFF ALONG WITH THE CHARGING PORT, AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO BRAKE DUE TO IT BEING A RED LIGHT AND CAR IN FRONT OF ME THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE OR SWITCH LANES. A SERVICE LIGHT FLASHED AT ME WHEN EVERYTHING FROZE BUT THEN DISAPPEARED. OF COURSE, AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, THERE WERE NO ISSUES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAR HAS FROZEN ON ME. I'M UNSURE OF THE BETTER TERM TO DESCRIBE THIS. BUT THIS TIME RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS NOT IN MY CONTROL DUE TO MY BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKING. I WAS TOLD TWO WEEKS AGO MY CAR WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL SERVICE ISSUES. APPARENTLY THIS WAS INCORRECT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH JEEP. I ALSO HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY SAFETY RECALLS REGARDING THE KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THE BRAKE HACK DUE TO THE 3G AND UCONNECT COMPUTER SYSTEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED.

SHORTLY AFTER STARTING OUR 1500 MILE TRIP ON JULY 14 CROSSING A BRIDGE THE MONACO DIESEL PUSHER MOTORHOME TOWING A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4 LATITUDE WITH ACTIVE DRIVE II SHOOK BADLY FRONT-TO-BACK AND SIDE-TO-SIDE AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NORMALLY A BUMP WILL CAUSE THE MH TO SHAKE FRONT-TO-BACK MOMENTARILY. I GOT OUT AND CHECKED AROUND AND UNDER BOTH VEHICLES AND FOUND NOTHING AMISS. GOT IN AND HEADED ON OUR TRIP. A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT DAY THE MH SHOOK WHEN HITTING A BUMP BUT NOT AS VIOLENTLY AS EARLIER. NO MORE SHAKING ON THE TRIP AND NO APPARENT DAMAGE. THE JEEP HAD BEEN DISENGAGED AND REENGAGED FROM THE MOTORHOME A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH NO SIGN OF DAMAGE. WE TRAVELED FROM BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK TO CAPITAL REEF NP ON 20 JULY OVER A CURVY, HILLY HIGHWAY. AT CAPITOL REEF WE DISCONNECTED THE JEEP AND FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE TOW BAR/TAB HAD DAMAGED THE SHROUD IN THE FRONT OF THE JEEP. WE DROVE THE MH AND JEEP SEPARATELY TO MOAB, UT FOR REPAIRS. WHEN THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE LOWER FRONT SHROUD ON THE JEEP AND INSPECTED THE DAMAGE HE FOUND THE WELDS ON THE JEEP ALUMINUM BRACKET THAT THE TOW-BAR BASE-PLATE WAS FASTENED TO WERE BROKEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CRACKED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WE CONTINUED DRIVING BOTH SEPARATELY TO OUR HOME.

THIS AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES OF TROUBLE-FREE TOWING. THE FIRST TIME WAS OVER AN UNEVEN PATCH OF REPAIRED ROAD. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE JUST HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE. I HAD TO BRING THE RIG TO A COMPLETE STOP TO ELIMINATE THE ROCKING/WOBBLING MOTION OF THE JEEP, WHICH WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE TO ME IN THE REAR VIEW CAMERA. JEEP DEALER WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE FROM DIFFERENT OWNERS SHOULD SUFFICE. THE NEED TO BRING A LARGE RV TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE THE WOBBLING IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. THIS DEFICIENCY IN THE JEEP IS SIMPLY A BAD ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN DEALER SAYS THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ENOUGH OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THEIR SEPARATE COMPLAINTS HAVE DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES OVER. JEEP NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE IT CAUSES MULTIPLE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. WHEN TOWING THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEHIND MY RV AND DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD SURFACES, RUTTED ROAD SURFACES OR UNEVEN RAILROAD CROSSINGS, THE STEERING AXLE STARTS TO OSCILLATE AND SHAKES THE RV AND JEEP VIOLENTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE OSCILLATION IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE WHEN OPERATING ON FREEWAYS OR STATE HIGHWAYS. I HAVE (1) HAD THE RV INSPECTED AND (2) PURCHASED A NEW TOW BAR WITH AN IMMOBILIZER KIT (FACTORY INSTALLED) AND HAD THE JEEP CHEROKEE (3) ALIGNED (COMPUTERIZED). I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS CENTERED AROUND THE 2014 REDESIGNED MODEL IN WHICH JEEP UTILIZES A RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM THAT PERMITS THE STEERING AXLE TO OSCILLATE WHILE BEING TOWED IN ALL WHEEL NEUTRAL. THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IS THE 3RD JEEP THAT I HAVE TOWED BEHIND A RV. THE PRIOR JEEPS WERE BOTH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES (2007 AND 2012) AND I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WITH EITHER ONE. THE OSCILLATING PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE REDESIGNED 2014 MODEL. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP INSPECTED AT SEVERAL JEEP DEALERSHIPS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE CONCERN AND COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE OF THE CONCERN BY ROAD TESTING THE JEEP. THE ROAD TEST ULTILIZED CONSISTED OF TEST DRIVING THE JEEP. THE OSCILLATING ISSUE IS NOT WHILE "DRIVING" THE JEEP - IT IS WHILE "TOWING" THE JEEP IN ALL WHEEL NEUTRAL.

WHILE IN MOTION, THE CAR STALLED. THE CAR WOULD NOT THEN SHIFT TO ANY GEAR. AFTER CONTINUOUSLY TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS, THE CAR WOULD JUMP FROM PARK TO DRIVE. LITERALLY JUMP. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME (A FEW BLOCKS) WITH MY HAZARDS ON PRAYING ALL THE WAY. I CALLED HUNTINGTON BEACH JEEP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPT. I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE FIXED. I TRIED TO UPGRADE OUT OF THE SHOTTY CHEROKEE TO A GRAND CHEROKEE FOR SAFETY REASONS BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT FORGIVE THE NEGATIVE EQUITY IN THE CAR AS WE'VE HAD IT FOR A YEAR. HE INSISTED WE PUT MORE MONEY DOWN AND HAVE A CAR PAYMENT OF $600-700 DOLLARS. WE REFUSED. WE FEEL JEEP DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY BUT ONLY THE NUMBER OF CARS THEY SELL EACH MONTH WHICH IS A SAME. THANK GOD WE DIDN'T HAVE A CAR ACCIDENT AS THEY MY FAMILY WOULD BE PLANNING A FUNERAL. TOWING THE JEEP 4 WHEELS DOWN BEHIND MY 38' DIESEL PUSHER MOTORHOME, THE JEEP STARTED JERKING BACK AND FORTH QUITE VIOLENTLY, ENOUGH TO CAUSE A SERIOUS SHAKING IN THE REAR OF THE 30,000 LB. MOTORHOME. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE(S) TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP, CHECKED BOTH VEHICLES CAREFULLY, AND COULD FIND NO CAUSE. CONTINUED ON WITH NO SHAKING OR PROBLEM. ABOUT FOUR HUNDRED MILES FURTHER, AFTER A 90 DEGREE TURN AT LESS THAN TEN MPH, IT DID IT AGAIN. ONCE MORE I BROUGHT THE RIG TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THEN CONTINUED WITH NO SHAKING. ON MY 5000 MILE TRIP THIS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY SEVEN TIMES. THE ONLY APPARENT COMMONALITY WAS THAT IN MOST CASES THE JEEP HAD GONE OVER A ROUGH PATCH (RAILROAD TRACK. RAISED BUMP IN ROAD, TOWED OVER A CURB) AND MOST EVENTS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS UNDER 30 MPH. I HAVE FOUND THERE ARE OTHERS OTHERS TOWING THE NEW STYLE JEEP CHEROKEE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM NOT NEW TO TOWING; I HAVE TOWED OTHER JEEPS OVER 200,000 MILES WITH NO PROBLEM. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS A FAULT WITH THIS VEHICLE.

IT SEEMS TO PRIMARILY HAPPEN AROUND 7TH/8TH GEAR AT 55-60MPH, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED GOING AROUND 40MPH. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 ECODIESEL ENGINE, AND COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT.

WE LEASED THIS CAR IN 3/14 WITH THE THOUGHT OF PROBLEM FREE DRIVING. THE FIRST WEEK WE FELT AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS HOPPING WHEN SHIFTING. THEN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SQUEAK WHEN YOU TURNED IT (FOUND THAT ODD). TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THEY DID A FLASH CHANGE BUT DID NOT ROAD TEST IT. THEY SAID WE NEED STRUTS AND THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER TILL WHO KNOWS WHEN. SO NOW WE SET HERE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BUT STILL HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE PARKSENSE FEATURE DISABLED ON ITS OWN. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH, WHICH HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, GLOW PLUGS, SWIRL MOTOR FAILURE (LOW PRESSURE IN RAIL OR FUEL RAIL PRESSURE MALFUNCTION) AND ALSO SPEED SENSORS. THE VEHICLE THEN REVVED UP ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ACCELERATION WHILE MY FOOT WAS POSITIONED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THAT, THE WORD "TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ON THE DASH, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THEN THE COLLISION INDICATOR AS IF A CAR CRASH HAD OCCURRED, WHICH IT HAD NOT. FINALLY, THE POWER STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF. DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THEY SAID THE CODES WERE UNKNOWN LIKE HIEROGLYPHICS. LEFT VEHICLE THERE. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THERE WERE 3 SOFTWARE UPGRADES THAT WERE NEEDED ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THOSE UPGRADES DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT THEMSELVES AND GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY DURING A TEST RUN. THE TECHNICIAN FURTHER EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE HAD 3 TEST RUNS AND FAILED ALL 3 AND IT WAS BEYOND THEIR EXPERTISE SO CHRYSLER ENGINEERS WOULD BE CONSULTED THIS WEEK. LASTLY, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME I "MAY BE AHEAD OF A RECALL ISSUE." THE CAR IS 5 AND HALF MONTHS OLD. I ORDERED THE CAR, MEANING, I HAD IT MADE/BUILT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. IT WAS NOT A CAR PURCHASED FROM THE LOT. THEREFORE, NO OTHER DRIVERS OF THE CAR AND IT IS BRAND NEW. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CHEROKEE HAS BEEN OUT OF PRODUCTION FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL THE 2014 RELEASE. UPON ACCELERATION 5MPH, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS. TRANSMISSION LIGHT, RED LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT, SHIFTING HARD, WHEEL LOCKED UP, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, CAR DIED. CAR IS 2 MONTHS OLD. DASH FLASHED RED WRITING, CAN NO SHIFT UNLESS IN P BEFORE DIED. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HURRIED TO TURN CAR OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND IT DROVE. SEEMS TO DO THIS WHEN THE CAR HAS SAT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. SHIFTS HARD DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. DATES OCCURRED SAME PROBLEM 3/30, 3/31, 4/1. CAR IS AT THE DEALER FOR REVIEW. THEY DID 3199 PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE 3/31/14. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 4/1. *TR
