Follow up of complaint tracking # 11665800 and 11667793. My Cherokee 2014 has DTC U0402 since 2018. Jeep does not want to do a recall for change of transmission for my car. Jeep wants to charge me $11000 for this repair, despite DTC was evident when the car was under warranty, and Jeep told me not to worry about it. Delaware Motor vehicle has given me a tag that will expire on 07/24/25, and DMV does not want to give me more extensions, DMV has told me clearly that IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIR. If NHTSA is not able to get a recall for my car before 07/19/25, I will have to sell my car for a very low price to Jeep, despite that my car is in very good condition and 27,509 miles. Jeep has not been honest with me since 2018 about DTC U0402, Jeep told me not to worry about it because the "code was stored but inactive". Jeep got advantage of my ignorance in this issue.

This is an addendum to complain number 11665800 I would like NHTSA do a recall for the transmission of my Jeep Cherokee 2014. I read an Article by Clifford Atiyeh, published on 07/08/2019 titled: Jeep recalls 2014 Cherokee again as ZF Nine-Speed Transmission Problems continue. I did not get this recall. 1-I bought the car new on 05/2014 2-Meggee Service Advisor Thomas Heck (phone 302-856-0064, Georgetown, Delaware) knew that my car was showing engine light on and code U0402, receipt dated 09/04/2018. At this time my car was under warranty, and technician did not do anything about it, despite DTC was there after performing recall U63. The Jeep technician told me not to worry about it. 3-Receipt dated 08/23/2019, , got recall V69. DTC U0402 was there. 4-Receipt dated 09/30/2022, my car got replacement of primary fuel pump. Car showed DTC U0402 again, and technician wrote "unrelated code", and told me not to worry. 5-Receipt dated 05/30/2025, I took my car to Jeep technician, because my car failed DMV inspection for DTC U4402 (Jeep code U0402). This time Jeep Service Technician said that because of this code U0402, the car needed a change of transmission, and it cost $11000. Receipt dated 06/06/2025, I took my car to DMV Pre-certified Technician, and he also told me the car needed a change of transmission, cost $11,232 6-I complained to Megee because Jeep technician knew about this problem with code U0402 since 2018, when the car was under warranty, and they told me not to worry about it, and now Jeep has the responsibility of changing the transmission for free. 7-I contacted Jeep Customer Care (877-426-5337) complaint #[XXX]. Representative told me that the problem had to be resolved directly with Megee Motor (Georgetown, Delaware), because it was its problem. 8-Megee Supervisor Tom Hecks told us that he needed authorization from Jeep Customer Care to change the transmission of the Cherokee. The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 35 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the battery warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The local dealer was not contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.

When I made an appointment at an authorized dealer and took it in they said I must wait for parts. They put me on a waiting list. During the waiting period my car started to get a check engine light and over heating warnings which the recall clearly states it’s been recalled from over heating. I contacted the dealer who said they didn’t have a loaner for me and they will contact me when the parts come in. All of a sudden the check engine light went off and the car was ok. Finally the parts came on and we took it right away to be serviced. A week after picking it up it started doing the same thing. I had emails going back and forth with service who claims it wasn’t due to the recall. During this I had a salesman call me to ask me to trade it in and when I said no he said, “Good luck with service.” Sarcastically. Finally they told me that they were emailing Jeep awaiting a response. But before this when they thought I would trade it in they were extremely happy. When I decided not to everything changed. My husband who didn’t trust them asked me to have it towed out of the dealer so I did. The car was drivable and no warning lights. Then a day later it starts giving warnings again. The car is now sitting in my garage. If you start it up and drive it the check engine light is on and the thermometer shows the temp going all the way up. I have re-opened my case that Jeep closed on me thinking the car was fixed. It has not been. The car still shows warning engine lights and overheating. It has not been fixed and the recall still stands unrepaired.

The vehicle was able to be restarted but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, but it was stated by the dealer that the engine was repaired. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed as a failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact was able to restart the vehicle and park the vehicle back in his driveway. The contact stated that when he turned the vehicle off, the vehicle did restart but would not remain running. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed battery and a failed alternator. The contact was informed that the battery and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The dealer informed the contact that the electrical wiring harness was the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the electrical wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he purchased the parts for the electrical wiring harness replacement. The contact stated that the dealer then informed him that the electrical wiring harness was not the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Check engine light came on, so I took it to my mechanic. Cylinder 1 is bad. The vehicle has 75000 miles and the engine needs to be replaced or at minimum cylinder one has to be repaired. Very expensive repair. I have done regular maintenance and still have an engine problem. I thought the engine would be good for at least 300000.

On March 7th 2023, I was driving my Jeep Cherokee on NY 96A in 55 mpa traffic, saw the check engine light turn on briefly, the engine seized at this speed, started chugging, and nearly had a traffic accident given the abrupt engine failure. In addition, while I was able to get to the side of the road, the car was stuck protruding off from the shoulder into the lane, the engine would not start to move the car, and it was a very unsafe situation given poor visibility at dusk. At 91,000 miles, it seems very strange to have experienced engine failure that ultimately resulted in a $6,785 repair bill at Maguire Jeep/Chrysler dealer in Ithaca, NY (VVA assembly needed to be replaced, broken valve spring in cylinder 4, roller spun and wedged in camshaft causing lobe damage, VVAA collapsed causing loose rocker and damaging head, valve and camshaft. Cylinder head needed to be rebuilt). This vehicle has had other serious problems in the past prior to this incident including a malfunctioning parking brake in 2020 that resulted in my 6 year old son and I stranded, unable to drive while we baked in the 90+ degree heat, a very costly broken 4wd module replacement 2021, and multiple breakdowns due to starter issues/needing starter to be rebuilt (2022 2x).

My car is a 2014 jeep cherokee TRAILHAWK the I bought a few mint ago at a keep dealer and after I bought the car 1000 miles later the car broke down due to a problem with the transmission, I took it back to the dealer and they didn’t wanted to fix it at first … after arguing with them for a couple of hours they resided to fix it and only made me pay for the part … after they supposedly fix it the car started giving me more problems and the dealer and the dealer didn’t wanted to fix it anymore

For the last 12-months I have been dealing with the vehicle stalling after filling it up. It first started a year ago and was sporadic but for the last 6-months it has been happening every time I fill up. This is a very dangerous situation to be driving down the road to have the vehicle suddenly stall out. The last time this happened was on Saturday, 2/11/23 and I spent the day fighting a stalling vehicle. Since 2020 the check engine light sporadically comes on. Supposedly there is a small evap leak. After looking into this earlier today I discovered this is a well known issue with all Jeep vehicles. Seeing how this seems to be a manufacturer issue the consumer should not have to keep paying out to fix what was not done right to begin with. Please look into both of these concerns.

Similar to NTSB 11504810, when I fill up with gas, my jeep stalls out and dies. I don't lose accessories or anything, I lose engine power. My battery like comes on and my dash says "battery voltage low" "put car into park and then desired gear" it takes a few tries to get it started again and it will buck like it wants to stall out or it dies again completely while I'm driving. Also there are times it is rough changing gears (jerky).

The contact owns 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that after refueling, while driving 5-10 MPH, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving after refueling the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module indicated a catalytic convertor failure due to the inner part of the catalytic converter being missing. The catalytic converter was replaced; however, while driving after refueling, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormally loud sound. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact became aware of Chrysler Campaign Number (Powertrain Control Module). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a software update. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed the software update; however, the check engine warning light illuminated a year and three months later. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 116,245.

After filling up the gas tank the engine stalls at stop light. I must quickly place car in park and restart the engine. This happens multiple times as I drive home. Then as I start driving again the engine seems to be hesitant and feels like it is "bucking" me. After the first time this happened it seemed to go away after fuel level in tank went down. When I filled the tank again the problem reappeared. This has happened twice to me. This is really a life threatening hazard.

It is well known on Jeep Cherokees from 2014 forward use plastic oil filter housings instead of metal. Plastic part in this heated area causes failure and leakage of oil into exhaust manifold. This problem is so prevalent that all Jeep dealers and other repair shops know that Chrysler Jeep Dodge can’t even keep up the demand for the part replacement, AND still they do not make it out of metal. This problem is well known and costs $ 1000 - 1300 to repair. Why is NHTSA not forcing Jeep to recall all the Jeeps with problems and replace the oil filter housing with a metal product !! This is abuse to loyal Jeep owners, with a known problem which all participants are aware of, but no one is holding Jeep accountable !

IF I BRAKE AFTER I LET GO OF BRAKE CAR ACCELERATES AND GOING ON A CURVE IS THE SAME AND ITS VERY SCARY. I TOOK TO DEALER FOR RECALL AND THEY UPDATED NODULE FOR GEARS I WENT BACK AND THEY DID UPDATE ON TRANSMISSION NODULE. GOT THE CAR BACK 2 DAYS AGO THE FIRST DAY IT STARTED AGAIN ON ACCELERATION AFTER BRAKING. THE 3RD DAY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HOW CAN THEY SELL A JEEP LIKE THIS MY LIFE IS VALUABLE AND I DONT FEEL SAFE. I DONT TRY MY CAR FAR SCARED IF I GET IN TO AN ACCIDENT AND I ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 6MONTHS BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH LITERALLY EVERYDAY TO FIX THE ISSUE AND NOONE IS DOING ANYTHING. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED 4 TIMES AND THEY CANT FIND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NO WARNING TILL 4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THEN ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND OFF.

When the fuel tank is filled, to the first click off of the pump. The vehicle will stall, sputter, and is hard to accurate. The dealer has all ready replaced the fuel tank, evap line, and a puger valve, but still has the same problems. I have almost getting rear ended when it stalls a couple of times. Still has been going on for 2+ year. Vehicle drives fine after 30ish miles after filling it up.

OME Oil Filter Housing is made of plastic and it cracked, causing the Jeep to leak oil. This is a common issue with the 3.2L and 3.6L jeep motors. So common that the original part has been discontinued and replaced with one made of metal. That fact that Jeep has discontinued the original part and replaced it with a better one should be grounds for a recall and be covered my Jeep. Instead I have to pay $200 for the part and because of the labor required to replace the part, my total bill is almost $1000.

Oil filter housing is leaking oil onto the engine and dripping on the ground leaving puddles. This is a problem with the 3.2 engine and the 3.6 engine. There are thousands of these engines on the road doing the same thing . Oil Filter Housing Defective.

The oil filter adapter has cracked due to it being a plastic housing. Cold weather speeds up the process. The oil filter adapter also has a small torque tolerance for the cap that will also break the housing. This is available for inspection upon request. The safety concern is that the oil leaks out on top of the motor then down the sides and onto the exhaust below causing emission tests to fail. My dealer mentioned this is common but nothing official. The component has not been inspected by police or insurance. The dash indicators don’t come on till enough oil leaks out to display low oil level.

In the middle of driving the car engine will turn off/shut down flashing that the transmission needs to be serviced, place the car in Park. Once in park, the car will struggle to turn back on. This has happened on freeways, stoplights, turns. I have had it serviced twice now with no resolution. This becomes a safety issue because it puts myself, and others on the road in danger if the car comes to an unexpected stop. There is no light that turns on until the moment the car begins to shut down. The Transmission light will stay on for the remainder of that drive. Once the car has been off for a small amount of time, the light will not appear again until it has another episode.

I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A BACK ORDER OF OVER 40K AND I WOULD HAVE TO WANT UP TO 6 MONTHS UNTIL I HAD THE ISSUE RESOLVE. JEEP HAS NOT RECALLED THE PART. JEEP CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THE PART WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE NO EFFORTS TO HELP ME REMEDY THE SITUATION AT ALL, I.E., OFFER A LOANER CAR, TAKE TRADE IN, OR EVEN EXPLAIN HOW THEY ARE GOING EXPEDITE THE SITUATION. I'VE CONTACTED MY JEEP CERTIFIED DEALER WHICH ONLY TOLD TO CONTACT CORPORATE. DUE TO SIGNIFICANT OIL LEAKS AND LOSS OF OIL IN THE ENGINE, I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER AUTO SERVICE CENTER THEY TOLD ME THE "LIFTERS" IN THE ENGINE ARE NOW 'TAPPING' PROBABLY FROM LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE, AND THE COST TO REPLACE BOTH THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HOUSING, AND THE LIFTERS WILL BE ANOTHER $1,900. MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING AND/OR TURNING AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE "OIL LIFE" SCREEN SAID I HAD 28% OIL LIFE LEFT ( I HAD BEEN FOLLOWING IT TO AVOID STALLING OUT UNEXPECTEDLY.... WHICH DIDN'T HELP AND I ONCE AGAIN STALLED AT A RED LIGHT IN TRAFFIC). MY MAIN SAFETY CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO INDICATOR LIGHT FOR LOW OIL, AND THE FIRST INDICATION IS MY CAR STALLING OUT IN TRAFFIC WHICH COULD CAUSE A WRECK. MY CAR DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK, SLOW BUT STEADY, AND AFTER TAKING IT IN TO BE CHECKED WE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK IN THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY. THIS ALONG WITH UPPER AND LOWER GASKETS, WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $500-900. THIS PIECE IS PLASTIC, SO IS EASY TO CRACK IF THE FILTER IS OVER TIGHTENED. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING STURDIER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE STILL COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE~50K MILES: BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM DEALERSHIP AND EXCLUSIVELY DEALER MAINTAINED...A YEAR AGO 2 THINGS SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED HAPPENING TO MY JEEP. 1-AS I WOULD SLOW DOWN AND COME TO A STOP MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF, STALL OUT. 2-AS I WAS DRIVING MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WOULD START FLASHING AND THE JEEP WOULD NOT RUN RIGHT. I WOULD PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WOULD HAPPEN AFTER 5 MILES OF DRIVING, OTHER TIMES I WOULD GO OVER 100 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. I HAD APPROXIMATELY 25% REMAINING ON MY OIL LIFE CYCLE-LAST OIL CHANGE LESS THAN 6MONTHS/5000 MILES. I TESTED THE BATTERY AND A FEW THINGS BEFORE I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER SAID MY OIL LEVEL WAS DANGEROUSLY LOW AND I NEED A FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING. THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE AND FUEL CLEANING, ASKED ME TO COME BACK AFTER DRIVING 1000 MILES FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THEY SAID THE RESULT OF THE TEST WAS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. A YEAR LATER, AGAIN AROUND 20% OIL LIFE REMAINING-LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AND LESS THAN 5000 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE I AM GETTING THE SAME SYMPTOMS-ALL THREE LIGHTS COMING ON, CAR STALLED ON SEPARATE OCCASION. WILL BE BRINGING BACK TO DEALER THIS WEEK, HOWEVER THIS CAR HAS RECEIVED ALL OIL CHANGES BY DEALER WITHIN THE PROPER TIME AND I TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE CAR- THIS SEEMS A BIT DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. ONCE I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND DRIVE THE VECHICLE IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS IN DRIVE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO KEEP AND THEY SAID THE ISSUE WAS BATTERY RELATED AND 'FIXED' IT, I PICKED IT UP A FEW DAYS LATER AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE THE SAME DAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I SHOULD NOTE, I HAD GONE ALMOST 6,000 MILES SINCE MY LAST OIL CHANGE WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND RECEIVED THE "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" MESSAGE ON THE MESSAGE CENTER FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT VERY MORNING. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR AND ENGINE. I ASKED WHY I DIDN'T GET SOME TYPE OF WARNING LIGHT. WAS TOLD THAT THIS MODEL DOES NOT HAVE A LOW OIL INDICATOR LIGHT. I SAID OK, BUT IT DOES HAVE AN OIL PRESSURE LIGHT AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHY WOULDN'T ONE OF THOSE COME ON? THEY HAD NO ANSWER. I STARTED MONITORING THE OIL MYSELF EVERY 250 MILES. AFTER I DROVE 1000 MILES, THE OIL WAS AT THE SAME FULL LEVEL AS IT WAS WHEN THE OIL CHANGE OCCURRED. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION. I WAS TOLD TO COME BACK AGAIN IN 1000 MILES. I WAS MONITORING THE SITUATION FOR THE NEXT 1000 MILES AND, AS OF THE THE DAY BEFORE I TOOK THE CAR IN, THE OIL LEVEL DROPPED ABOUT HALF WAY DOWN THE "FULL ZONE". THE DEALER TOLD ME THE OIL WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS BEFORE AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR! I AM FORTUNATE THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT A RELATIVELY LOW RATE OF SPEED. MY CAR NEVER GIVES ANY KIND OF MESSAGE THAT STATES THE OIL LEVEL IS LOW AND IS NOT SHOWING THAT THE VEHICLE YET NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE. DEALERSHIP STATES ITS BECAUSE OF INTERMITTENT OIL PRESSURE. THE CAR STALLS OUT TO PROTECT THE ENGINE FROM OVER HEATING. I THINK THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE FEATURE FOR MY CALL TO STALL OUT WITH OUT ANY WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY MAIN CITY STREET. BUT THEY SAY THIS IS ACCEPTABLE UNDER JEEP GUIDELINES AND WON'T PAY FOR THE NEW ENGINE... I HAVE NOW TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO DEALERSHIPS OVER THE PAST 2+ YEARS ROUGHLY 7 TIMES AND THEYVE PERFOMED SYSTEM UPDATES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP. THEY HAVE YET TO HELP AND MOST RECENTLY I WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER NEAR ACCIDENT. I HAVE CALLED THE FIAT CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER TO PUT A CASE TOGETHER. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH MY PURCHASE AND HOPE THAT THEY CAN FIX THESE ISSUES. A MORE CONCERNING ISSUE WAS AFTER TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASE. AFTER FOUR TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND BEING TOLD THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM THE SERVICE TECH WAS ABLE TO RE-CREATE, HOWEVER WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THE DEALERSHIP COULD DO, AND WE WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT BROKE DOWN. IN APRIL 2016, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. IMMEDIATELY, WE BEGIN HAVING THE SAME JERKING, LURCHING AND SURGING. NOW WE HAVE BEEN TOLD, WE NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION PUT IN THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 23,500 MILES ON IT, AND THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP, AND GONE THROUGH ARBITRATION, HOWEVER JEEP DOESN'T FEEL THE NEED TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. I NEVER WAS CALLED BACK FROM JEEP SO CALLED THEM AGAIN.THIS TIME ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER WHO JUST STONEWALLS ME AND NEVER RETURNS CALLS. JEEPS BRIGHT IDEA WAS TO HAVE IT TOWED 150MILES AT MY EXPENSE OF $664 TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO WOULDN'T LOOK AT IT FOR 2 MONTHS. CAR DIES AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 65 ON SEPTEMBER 24 2015. THEY GAVE ME THE OKAY TO DRIVE THE CAR. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY STALLED AND SHUT DOWN. IT TOOK 15 MINUTES TO START BACK UP AGAIN THIS TIME. KNOWING THE DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T BELIEVE ME. I HAD SOMEONE FILM IT HAPPENING AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN THE SAFETY OF A QUIET LOT. THEY OFFERED ME A FREE SOFTWARE UPGRADE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. A YEAR LATER AND THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 14 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. ONE UPGRADE AFTER ANOTHER YET THE CAR WILL STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS CAR WILL BECOME LIMP. HERB CHAMBERS, ALTHOUGH DIAGNOSISING THE JEEP TO BE "BURNING OIL" INSISTED, AT THE DIRECTION OF CHRYSLER PROTOCOL, THAT I DRIVE IT 5,000 MILES AND RETURN IT FOR FURTHER INSPECT. ONLY AFTER MY HUSBAND GOT INVOLVED DID THEY KEEP THE CAR, DRIVE IT, AND EVENTUALLY INSTALL A NEW ENGINE. ON 5/6/2015 THE JEEP LOST POWER DESCENDING A HILL. THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED HOME & DRIVEN TO HERB CHAMBER. AFTER INSPT THE JEEP NOW NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO JEEP, THE TRANSMISSION HAS AN INTERNAL LEAK. AGAIN, 3 WKS EARLIER, THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR TIRE ROTATION AND OIL CHANGE. THE MULIT POINT INSPECTION, INDICATED ALL FLUIDS, INCD THE TRANS FLUID WAS OK. WHILE THE JEEP WAS BEING FIXED, I ALSO EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER RUBBING NOISE WHEN TURNING. NEW BUSHINGS WERE PLACED INTO THE JEEP. WE HAVE SENT EMAILS & MADE PHONE CALLS TO CHRYSLER AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. WE ARE DRIVING A NEW VEH THAT HAS PROVEN UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE W/O ANY REMEDY FROM THE MFGR. I WOULD LIKE OTHER JEEP OWNERS TO BE AWARE OF THE REOCCURRING PROBS WITH THIS JEEP. I BELIEVE THE RELEASE OF THE JEEP WAS DELAYED DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS & THAT POSSIBLY IS/WAS A RECALL (OF WHICH WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED). VERY NEXT MORNING, CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK FOR A FOURTH TIME. THIS TIME A RENTAL CARE WAS FINALLY PROVIDED. THEY CHECK THE PROBLEM, AND COULD FIND NONE. THIS WAS VERY STRANGE AS I REMINDED THEM TO LOOK AT MY SERVICE RECORD AT WHICH I HAD THE OIL SERVICE RECENTLY DONE AT THEIR FACILITY. THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO RESPOND. SUBSEQUENT I CONTACTED JEEP HEADQUARTERS (RESOLUTION DEPT.) AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALER FOR EVALUATION, WHICH I HAVE DONE. THE OTHER PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS SHIFTING (THE VEHICLE JUMPS WHEN SHIFTING), THEY HAVE SEMI CORRECTED THAT BY PUTTING PARTS INTO THE TRANSMISSION, EXCEPT THE 2ND GEAR STILL JUMPS A BIT. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAD, WAS MY WIFE AND I WERE EXITING THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE TURNED "OFF" AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ON ITS OWN. I WAS TOLD BY THE 2ND DEALER THERE IS NO INDICATION WHILE SEARCHING WITH THE DIAGNOSTICS AS TO WHY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS PARKED ON 12.21.2014 WITH THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE IT DID NOT START AS A MATTER OF FACT THERE WAS NOT CRANKING OR ANY NOISE. I CALLED THE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE FOR CHRYSLER AND THEY SENT A PERSON TO JUMP THE CAR BATTERY. IT DID NOT WORK. LONG STORY SHORT THEY TOWED MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP CROWN CHRYSLER OF CHATTANOOGA WHICH IS THE SAME DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE VEHICLE BACK ON 7.21.2014. WEEKS BEFORE I NOTICED A SHAKING IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP I JUST MENTIONED. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND LEFT THE VEHICLE THERE FOR SOME DAYS SO THEY COULD FIX IT FROM 12.08.2014 TO 12.15.2014. WHEN I CAME BACK THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR IN THE RECEIPT THEY GAVE ME IT IS WRITTEN "TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO ISSUES WITH STEERING...PERFORMED COMPLIMENTARY CROWN MULTI-POINT INSPECTION". 1 WEEK AFTER THE JEEP BROKE DOWN AND GOT TOWED AS I DESCRIBED BEFORE. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CHEROKEE, FOLLOWED THE ENGINE/DRIVE TRAIN BREAK IN PROCEDURE AS CLOSELY AS I COULD, BUT STARTED EXPERIENCING A SIDE TO SIDE SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE VERY SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. THE SHIMMY HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AND SEEMS TO DISAPPEAR AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR. TYPICALLY I FEEL IT IN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL, HOWEVER IT VARIES IN INTENSITY FROM STOP TO STOP. SOMETIMES IT IS GONE AND SOMETIMES IT IS ENOUGH TO SHAKE THE WHOLE VEHICLE. AT 1522 MILES VEHICLE STALLED AFTER TURNING CORNER IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. HAD TO PUSH VEHICLE OFF OF BRIDGE AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. GOT IT STARTED AND TOOK STRAIGHT TO DEALER. ENGINE WAS THREE QUARTS LOW ON OIL AGAIN. ENGINE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IF VEHICLE STALLS ON HIGHWAY OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SOMEBODY COULD BE INJURED OR WORSE.
