My 2017 Hyundai Tucson Limited 1.6L Turbo (with 7-speed EcoShift DCT) has ongoing transmission problems. I believe the transmission is to blame as many others have stated. Our Tucson, without notice, quickly accelerates which is sometimes a scary situation. This defect can easily cause an accident.

I recently took my car to the authorized mechanic and had them check on an issue I am experiencing. For some reason, my car frequently hesitates when I go from a complete stop/slow roll to accelerate. For example, if I am stopped waiting to turn, often when I push the gas to accelerate, the car will begin to accelerate and then basically stop.

When on any hill (reversing or forward), in heavy bumper to bumper traffic, and in some intermittent situations, the vehicle experiences a loss of power. The scariest part of this is that the car jolts quickly once it finally "finds a gear" and decides to go. When my car dies because it can't deal with slower bumper to bumper traffic, there's a problem!

Seems like when the temperature reaches about 90 degrees transmission has a problem leaving a stop at a normal speed no matter h0w much gas pedal is applied it takes 5 to 10 seconds for the car to move foward at a regular speed almost like the old days when you try to take off in second or third gear in a stick shift.

B.the dct transmission completely disengages and there is no power to the vehicle, it just coasts for about 5 seconds and the vehicles slows down. While driving normally in 'd' drive in my 2017 hyundai tucson, I simply stepped on the gas pedal to accelerate and merge into high-speed freeway traffic, and with no dashboard light warnings or any sign of dysfunction of the vehicle, the car accelerated perfectly in first gear, and seemed to automatically get into another gear and as I was merging with traffic the car shuddered slightly spasmodically ' and then the transmission (clutches) completely disengaged with the engine revving to 8000 rpms with no gear engagement after stepping on the gas pedal.

I leased a 2017 tucson intending to buy at the end. Over the past year and a half, with about 29,000 miles on it, I have had six different occasions where I pull out onto my busy 50 MPH road and the vehicle will not move. Something is majorly wrong with how this vehicle shifts gears. When you come to a slow stop, and then go to accelerate again, the car feels like it about to stall- then when you press on the gas, there is a long lag before the car gains any momentum to move again. Several times (as many as 10+), starting from a dead stop at a light, the car will begin forward progress with normal depression of gas pedal.

As others have noted, the dct seems to have a severe problem when trying to quickly accelerate from a stopped position. The car will generally creep forward a few feet at a very slow crawl of 1-2 MPH, but will not actually take off until 3-5 seconds into pushing the pedal. This behavior of the car can cause you to be out in oncoming traffic for upwards of 5-7 seconds or longer.

The vehicle has a drive-by-wire system controlling the throttle and the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In certain circumstances, the throttle pedal has no effect on the throttle whatsoever. It happens most in 'eco' mode, but still happens in 'sport' mode, always at a relatively low speed (walking pace) or when accelerating from a stop.

EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission does not always engage after full stop and may not engage at low speeds (4-6 MPH).
