MY engine check engine light and than a warning light came on saying not to drive it and I took it to be repaired at a shop and a hyndai dealer and they told me my engine needed to be replaced even though I always serviced my car. It has 103,000 miles on it. It is the same problem as the other person that reported this problem.

I’m submitting this complaint to report what appears to be a serious safety-related engine issue in my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Sport 2WD with the 1.6L DI Turbo engine [T-GDI GAMMA]. I’m aware of NHTSA Recall 21V-727, which covers 2017 Hyundai Tucson models with the 2.0L engine for premature engine bearing wear.

Component/system: Engine / powertrain – excessive engine oil consumption. The original engine is still in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. On 11/7/2025 my dealer (Ourisman Hyundai in [XXX] ) added 2 quarts of oil at 90,999 miles after the dipstick showed a very low level.

Hyundai issued a major recall in 2025 for models like the Sonata, Tucson, and Santa Fe due to faulty piston rings and ECM settings that caused oil to burn rapidly. consume oil excessively due to defective piston rings, engine control module (ECM) issues, or poor engine design. These problems cause oil to burn inside the engine rather than leak externally.

Burning oil. More than a quart every couple hundred miles sometimes much more than that. Very bad burning oil smell coming from engine into the inside of my car.

Had an oil change on September 29th. The mechanic brought to my attention metal shavings in the oil and advised that I should get rid of the car because it won’t last much longer. It drove fine for a day until the next afternoon I was driving on the highway with my children and the engine started knocking loudly.

In addition, Hyundai Motor Company internally “branded” the title without disclosure, which voided my eligibility for warranty coverage. I contacted the authorized Hyundai dealership to schedule the recall service.

The vehicle is experiencing severe engine shaking and misfiring during operation. Initial diagnostics confirmed that the spark plugs and ignition coils are functioning correctly and are not the source of the problem. A compression test revealed that two cylinders have no compression, indicating a likely internal engine failure.

There is an excessive engine oil consumption on the 1.6L turbo charged motor. Motor oil is completely depleted between recommended oil changes. It is a necessary to add roughly 1qt of oil per 1,000 miles driven, between oil changes, in order to maintain safe oil levels.

In February of 2025, my oil lamp warning light came on. My husband checked the oil dipstick and noticed that it didn't have any oil on it. There was a visible burn mark as well.

Hello, I have a serious problem with my Hyundai Tucson 2017 which is excessively burning oil.

Vehicle's engine is intermittently making noises again after exhaust manifold was fixed and also intermittently releasing carbon monoxide into the cabin of the vehicle. I have a video of the carbon monoxide reading, but the system will not allow me to upload.

July 2018 car began making noise when turning on and backing up. The noise went away when I began to drive. Took to dealership for oil change and they couldn't diagnosis the problem.

When accelerating, the engine vibrates softly at around 4,000 RPM, driver can hear the doors and dash panels vibrating. It has been that way since brand new. I went to the dealership to explain the service personnel but they say that is normal.

My mother in law bought a 2017 hyundai tuscon and is experiencing the same issue with the dual clutch system that required a 41,000 unit recall for the 2016 tuscon model. She has brought it into the dealer multiple times describing the same issue and showing car forums with similar issues and without a software fix.

The vehicle at times when going from a stop will occasionally totally lose all propulsion for a split second which has caused me to almost be dead in traffic. It is very scary when it happens. I don't know if it is a engine or transmission or fuel problem.

I purchased this car from drive time, and when told about a possible recall on the engine I asked about it. We were told that the issue had been resolved. Not even 10 minutes after driving it off the lot the engine started misfiring, we had done a test drive prior to purchasing this vehicle and nothing had popped up on the dash about any problems.

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson I owned had the engine FAIL (internal bearing failure) rendering the car basically worthless. Hyundai has multiple recalls on this type of engine. My car had 120,000 miles when the engine failed.

vehicle is burning through oil.

I know there is a re-call for my vehicles engine and year with model. I am having serious issues with my vehicle related to the recalls for the same year and model. I feel unsafe driving my vehicle and now I do not know what to do.

Oil consumption problem caused vehicle to go into Limp Mode on freeway. Manufacturer states 1qt loss every 1000 miles is acceptable.

The auto has 112,000 miles and is using oil excessively. A quart with every gas fill up.

Engine burning oil. Had 2 oil consumption tests and failed both. Had engine combustion chamber cleaned and still burning oil.

Blind spot warning stopped working due to electric issues. Engine started miss firing causing a turn over issue and loud knocking. Brought to auto shop and was diagnosed that engine is failing.

No compression in one of the cylinders, oil blow by, oil consumption approx 1 quart per 1000 miles. Now has developed a serious miss in cylinders 2 and 4 and is undrivable.

Car went into limp mode on the highway because of high oil consumption. Car came to a complete stop.

The engine is consuming extreme amounts of oil. 1-2 quarts a week. The oil light does not alert that oil is low and could cause a very dangerous situation.

Engine began to sputter then immediately shut down as I was driving. After parking safely, there were traces of metal in the oil & the oil was a milky color. Ran the code and it came up as an issue with the rod bearings.

I purchased a 2017 Hyundai Tucson with a 1.6L Turbo GDI engine. After just one month, the engine developed bearing damage. It seems that this problem is common with this type of engine.

The vehicle had 30,000 miles when purchased and has 62,0000 now using half a quart to quart of oil every thousand miles.
