2017 Hyundai Tucson Electrical Problems

Rear driver side door suddenly will not open from outside or inside. A rear passenger would be essentially trapped in the car should an incident/accident happen. I googled and it seems this is a well known issue affecting several model years of Hyundai, including my 2017 model.

Vehicle caught fire damaging wiring harness. engine has hesitation, AC system was damaged by fire. recall shows electrical system/engine and brakes in recall.

On July 22nd, the duel clutch malfunctioned & caused the vehicle gear shift to no longer engage. The car does not move in Drive or Reverse. It can only be pushed in Neutral or towed.

My vehicle was broken into on Nov. 17, 2022 and thieves attempted to take the vehicle after smashing the back passenger window and gaining access. The vehicle alarmed once they either attempted to either open the drivers side door or start the vehicle.

Engine light and oil light stays on in the car. Car shaking really bad. Oil is evaporating in less than a thousand miles.

Subsequently following an engine replacement due to recall, there is now an electrical issue which has caused something to burn or possibly start fire as there is a burning smell from the hood and heat coming from under the hood into the car's cabin from the dashboard area and the drivers seat bottom is very hot.

The driver side passenger door will not open with pulling on the door handle multiple times, about 10+ tries with a lot of force to get the door open. This is not a lubrication issue, I have lubricated the locking mechanism and is hasn't helped at all. Imagine if the car rolled over and was on fire and this door wont open, its terrifying to think.

I own a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While trying to get my elderly Grandmother out of the backseat to her appointment the rear drivers side door failed and would not open. After multiple attempts trying to open from outside and inside my ninety year old Grandmother had to maneuver herself to get out of the other door.

There is a recall out for my vehicle to fix / replace parts as a glitch with the electrical system could cause an engine fire (hyundai recall 195). I was told when I brought the vehicle into the dealership that I would have to wait 5 months before they could fix it.

My daughter was driving her car up a hill on hwy 2 and it slowed to a stop. She pulled over and it started smoking. The engine caught fire and burned her car.

Traveling with wife and infant westbound 210 freeway in pasadena, ca. At highway speed. Wife and I heard a continuous, muffled clicking sound for 20-30 seconds.

I called to have the recall fixed and was informed there is a waiting list of unknown length. This could be a potentially fatal problem. There should not be a waiting list.

Currently awaiting a letter from the dealer to have my tucson fixed due to the recall that could start a fire. Currently not able to rent it out due to open recall.

There is a current recall on this vehicle: NHTSA recall number20v543000. I have called the dealer and they have no idea of when hyundai will provide a fix. Since this defect can cause the car to catch fire can you please find out about the fix for this problem.

I purchased 2017 tucson brand new at roughly 22k my engine seized and the 3rd connecting rod failed. After engine replacement I continued to have problems with rear driver side brake light continuously going out, bulb is not out but wiring scorched and bulb somehow continuously becomes loose. I have replaced front headlights repeatedly with the driver front shattering in housing.

NHTSA #20v543000 recall number 195 still has no remedy for this year model. The dealer I just bought my vehicle from has 13/14 certified pre owned with open recalls of this nature. I purchased and then was told I could not take it until the recall was fixed.

N june 24, 2019 I discovered my vehicle was cyber control hacked.. Mysterious radio code, interference with sirius radio signal, channels kept changing, cannot control volume, discovered an alien iphone connected to blue tooth, malicious link appeared on 6/11/19 when radio was taken down to manufacturing settings.

Following the knock sensor detection system update, this car has a P1326 code that forces it into limp mode. Occurs during moderate-hard acceleration, e.g. getting on a highway.

Power windows will go down by driver buttons but driver buttons will not work to make windows go back up. Engine is stalling, can smell exhaust, manifold is said to be needed to be replaced. Burns oil badly.

However, in May 2023, while driving on the highway, the car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond 30 MPH.

I am writing regarding a serious incident involving negligent automotive service performed by Jiffy Lube Store #687. On October 24, 2025, I took my 2017 Hyundai Tucson to this location for a standard oil change. I trusted that the service would be completed properly and safely.

Sensors something to do with the motor and not sure where the other sensors is related to could be the motor as well. The safety was not good due to it shut off in the middle of traffic and making wraddling noise. I took the vehicle to the dealership where purchase from.

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has completely broken down will not go into reverse had a diagnostics at Hyundai. I thought it was going to be covered because of the class action suit. My car apparently was not in the recall or the suit.

The controls (buttons) on the right side of my steering wheel progressed from slow to respond to completely unresponsive, and then the driver airbag light started coming on. At first it was intermittent, then constant. I didn't expect those two issues to be related but did come to learn it was the clock switch.

Car cuts off when driving the speed drops down automatically stops the dash lights go out and can’t start it right away

All of the lights on the dashboard and check engines light were illuminated. The speedometer would not work and the stick shift would stick in park causing me to have to release the shift lock manually to drive. The failure mileage was 59,450.

Car had smoke engine overheating this is the 3rd engine I got sick from the smoke I don’t feel safe in that car

The vacuum pump on my 2017 hyundai has a faulty cap resulting in an electrical error to the CAN system. This causes dash lights ABS 4WD parking break stability control TPMS sensor check engine light to eliminate and the speedometer to not work. All of the systems are not opperating due to the system not being able to communicate.

My truck was stolen so most likely they messed up my ignition. Before this my lights keep going out every time I replace one a different one goes out. Wheel always going out of air and my truck always jerking when driving or breaking.

The 2017 hyundai tucson will trap you inside the car. The doors will work intermittently and other times they simply will not open. Even when the car is unlocked.

Car has been hesitating to start this last week, Friday 6/2/23 warning lights came on & air conditioning stopped working. My local Hyundai shop is booked 2 weeks out so I already have an appt for 6/13/23. But on 6/2 I barely made it to a shop close to my home for a diagnostic check.

All the lights in the dashboard are on always, also the check engine light as well, and we found a recall issued for these cars campaign 18-01-026, tucson vacuum pump sealant application/ cap replacement (service campaign T3C) date September 2018

While driving, all of the warning lights on the dash came on and the car shut off. After pulling over, the car started again. The car was bought on 10/18/22 and the first incident was 11/7/22.

While driving, switched window buttons, driver side front and passenger front, windows will not return to closed position. Also rear windows will not operate as well. When window buttons pressed, clicks and whirring sound heard but windows do not go up.

After the engine was replaced we are still having electrical and engine issues and dealers in Atlanta area will not accept engine repairs. The car will not start consistently and most dangerous if we use our bights (lights) for just a second even, the car will shut down and restart when the bights are released.

Door smart key button has broken (driver's & front passenger's door) user is unable to lock/unlock the car. User must use the beeper or key to unlock/lock the car. Went to dealership and the told me that the car has been forced by someone because is very easy to steal.

The car makes a squeaking noise and has slow acceleration when pressing on the gas

Our 2017 hyundai tucson is going through a lot of oil. We are having a consumption test done. I called the hyundai dealer where we had the oil change and he said he heard something about hyundai tucson's burning through a lot of oil.

I made a complaint against this same problem but now it is on the opposite side. The brake rear passenger side has burned. The dealership blocked em from making an appointment to repair the defect.

When trying to turn off the tucson (vehicle has push button start) to refill the gas tank, the engine didn't turn off. While the engine was on, it restarted again the engine, all the warning lights turned on in the dashboard and the engine started to vibrate violently with RPM's around 500 RPM. Some seconds later the engine RPM stabilized (normal idle).

On november 3rd, 2016 I purchased on 2017 hyundai tucson with $1500 and my 2016 hyundai elentra trade-in. Onor about january 3rd, 2018 I experienced an issue of the driver seat not reclining and inclining, leaving me stuck in certain positions. I scheduled service at sage hyundai and soon after the company closed without providing a service location.

Since shortly after purchase, the vehicle's backup camera has experienced blacking out after the initialization blackout with regular frequency. When putting the car in reverse the screen initially shows a black screen until the camera intializes. Then the picture of behind the vehicle shows, followed by the backup guide lines.

THE BRIGHT LIGHT / TURN SIGNAL ARM HAS AN OFF..AUTO..ON ROTATING END THAT CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS/DASH/BRIGHT-DIM CONTROL. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON BRIGHT YOU HAVE TO PULL THE SWITCH ARM TO DIM THE LIGHTS. THE TROUBLE IS THE ROTATING END MOVES FROM AUTO TO OFF, SHUTTING ALL THE LIGHT DASH ETC OFF. SINCE YOU ARE DRIVING AT 55 TO 75 MPH AND ALL THE LIGHTS GO OFF LEAVING YOU MOVING HIGH SPEED IN THE DARK HYUNDAI IS ENDANGERING MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THE PASSENGERS INTENTIONALL BECAUSE OF THE POOR INCOMPETANT DESIGN. THEY SHOULD RE DESIGN THE SWITCH ARM AND REMOVE THE LIGHT SWITCH FROM THE END OF THE TURN SIGNAL ARM. I HAVE TO TAKE NITRO GLYCERINE BECAUSE I'M SCARED TO DEATH. OTHER DRIVERS HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ALL TUSCONS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. THE DEALER DOESN'T CARE. HYUNDAI SHOULD BE FINED AND JAILED FOR DANGEROUS ENGINEERING. IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES!

Hesitation on acceleration, dual clutch transmission. Reported problems with the 2016 tucson. My vehicle is a 2017 tucson se plus, the problems are the same as previously reports regarding the 2016 model.

I was driving park the car and it wouldn't turn back on . I open the door and the car turn back on . The radio everything reset.

Myself, like others I have seen report the issue. The door (for me driver side front) will not open from the outside latch after door is unlocked. Can only open door from inside latch.

Rear passenger side door. Door will not open from either the inside or outside. Apparently this is a very common issue with this make/model.

Driver side brake light has gone out 4 times in 3 years

Shortage in the electrical system.. Never had so many bulbs blown out on 1 car - brake lights and head lights. Now there is a shortage in the hood...

This is the 5th time. Rear brake light blew out on driver side this time.set another appointment for 12-06-2019

2mois et demi après l'achat le GPS qui change de langage, il montre plus les détailles, aucun signe de circulation ou autres et pourtant le deux premier mois tous fonction bien , pas de son dans la radio, je ne peux pas fermer les portes, j'ai du la fermé manuellement, l’arrière de la voiture qui s'ouvre toute seul, j'ai été pour faire des achats a mon retour j'ai trouvé l’arrière de la voiture ouverte (coffre) et pourtant j'ai bien vérifié avant de rentrer dans le magasin puisque ce n'ai pas la première fois que le problème ce pose, j'ai informé le concessionnaire il me dit que c'est moi qui a appuyer sur le bouton par erreurs, je l'ai informé que ce que je me suis dites la 1er, 2eme et 3eme fois mais là c'est plus que 10fois , hier c'est l'ouverture du toit qui ne veux pas s'ouvrir complètement, j'ai essayé aujourd’hui mais rien il s'ouvre a moitié, le GPS il redeviens comme avant, chaque jour une nouvel chose que faire????
