1. The car began to randomly stall and stop running. This happened while driving and it was extremely dangerous. Typically, the engine would restart after at least waiting 15 minutes. Any attempt to start the car before that time would fail. 2. When the stalls happened, the car acted as if it had run out of gas. The engine would simply stop running WITHOUT WARNING, at intersections, on city streets, and on the freeway at high speed. It did not matter how full the gas tank was. 3. My brother and I diagnosed the problem as intermittent loss of fuel pressure. 4. My brother and I replaced the FACTORY fuel pump, and to hour horror, when we unplugged the electrical connection/plug, one of the pins from the fuel pump came out with the plug/connector. 5. We inspected the fuel pump and discovered that parts of the electrical plug INSIDE THE FUEL TANK had become burned and melted. See Image SANY0135.JPG === This is a SAFETY DEFECT - either the internal fuel pump electrical connections were faulty from the factory or the problem developed over time. There have been other recalls for this model of car for random engine stalls but this is a NEW and DIFFERENT cause. A dealer with a relatively inexpensive Infrared camera could likely spot this problem with minimal vehicle disassembly. There was clearly a LOT of heat concentrated in the area of the electrical connection to the fuel pump. We hope this report triggers a recall and prevents extremely dangerous random loss of engine power events, fires, or worse. Please recall all the vehicles that used that fuel pump for inspection before there is a disaster.
I tried pumping gas and the car would not let me pump the gas into the car. I had to hold the the gas pump hose and pull the trigger myself to pump the gas, which would still make the clicking stop noise that stops the pumping of the gas. Then when I started driving, the check engine light came on. Went O'Reilly to test the check engine light code and it popped up with a P0449 code for the evaporative emissions (EVAP) vent control valve.

The contact stated that the alternator was replaced prior to the failure. The vehicle was refueled by a tow truck driver. The contact stated that after several days, the vehicle drove as needed; however, the failure reoccurred at a drive-thru. The vehicle was towed to a nearby hotel. The low fuel warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was purchased. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred a week later. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, there was fuel leaking out of the fuel pump gasket. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the fuel pump was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact then noticed that flames were coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact immediately pulled over and both her and her passenger exited the vehicle. 2011 sonata se 2.0t door lock’s acting up won’t open or lock fuel smell in the car really strong and not measuring the gas keeps going up and down and at times I don’t even know if I have gas or not and when filling gas at the gas tank entrance where you fill up at won’t let me fill up gas keeps getting spit out when I’m filling and I have to keep clicking the gas gun and not put pressure have to fill it very slow
1) Fuel gauge readings are erratic, empty one minute then full the next then back to empty or in between regardless on actual fuel level. 2) Safety at risk if fuel pump malfunctions and gas gauge readings erratic. 3) Problem has been noted in numerous blogs, internet sites. 4) No open recalls yet this is a serious problem. 5) The only warning lights are fuel gauge flashes empty, but then goes away then comes back. 6) Cause per blogs is defective fuel sending gauge on fuel pump. Mileage at approximately 128k recurring issue, fuel pump failure possibly at high speeds could cause deaths if vehicle out of drivers control.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle would accelerate whenever the volume for the radio is turned up. The vehicle would suddenly accelerate inadvertently when other functions of the vehicle were activated. The vehicle also suddenly stalled at various speeds, causing the contact to turn off and then restart the vehicle several times to regain normal functionality. The brakes also failed intermittently. The vehicle displayed a warning light however, the contact was unsure of the meaning. The failure mileage was unknown due to odometer fraud that was linked with the vehicle. I took my 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0L Turbo to my Hyundai Dealership and had several overdue recalls done, one being a complete engine replacement. Upon receiving vehicle again, I then took vehicle to Smog Check Center (California resident) and the vehicle failed in one category: Liquid Fuel Leak Check. I have read on NHTSA notices and other sites that certain 2011-2014 Sonata 2.0L Turbo and 2.4L engines are being recalled for this very issue: confirming high pressure fuel pipe was connected by Hyundai dealer to high-pressure fuel pump outlet during engine replacement (Recall 180). My VIN search states I have 0 open recalls though my vehicle appears to suffer from this exact issue.
It's a if the gas isn't getting to the engine. Check engine light is on. The code had read P0451..

THE HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 FUEL PUMP FAILED AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. PUTTING ME IN DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT. THE ENGINE HAD BEEN REPLACED, AND OTHER SONATAS HAVE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $605 FOR THE PUMP AND $300 FOR THE LABOR. THIS PUMP IS IN THE FUEL TANK AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED JUST LIKE THE ONES IN THE 2013 & 2014. I WANT A REFUND OF MY MONEY TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND AS I PUT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE DASH BOARD STOPPED ACCURATELY SHOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. THE TANK MAY BE FULL, BUT THE GAUGE WILL SHOW IT AS HALF FULL, OR THREE-QUARTERS FULL. SOMETIMES IT CHANGES MID-DRIVE, AND STARTS TO GO UP. I CAN'T TRUST THE GAUGE ANYMORE.

GOOD AFTERNOON, I AM CONTACTING THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE RECALL 180 HYUNDAI IS CONDUCTING A SAFETY RECALL IN THE UNITED STATES TO CONFIRM THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PIPE WAS PROPERLY CONNECTED BY HYUNDAI DEALERS TO THE HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP OUTLET WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALLS 132 AND 162. IN COME CASES, DURING THE ENGINE REPLACEMENTS UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGNS 132 AND 162, THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PIPE MAY HAVE DAMAGED, MISALIGNED, OR IMPROPERLY TORQUED DURING THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE, ALLOWING FUEL TO LEAK FROM THE PIPE. HYUNDAI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE FUEL PIPE, AS NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-855-371-9460. WENT IN FOR A RECALL ABOUT MY FUEL SYSTEM LINE AND THEY HAD NO REMEDY TO FIX MY VEHICLE, I RECIEVED NOTICE THERE WAS A RECALL AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT BUT THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE BEEN ALMOST A WEEK AND IM SCARED MY CAR WILL CATCH FIRE AS SAID IN THE RECALL THIS IS A TICKING TIME BOMB.
DRIVING ONE DAY AND STARTED SMELLING GAS. SEEMED LIKE GAS WAS INSIDE THE CAR BECAUSE THE SMELL WAS SO BAD. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR WENT BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED COSTING ME OVER $1100.00. I WOULD LIKE RESEARCH DONE TO SEE IF THIS IS INDEED A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. THE REPLACED MY ENGINE WHEN IT SUDDENLY CUT OFF ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE I WAS GOING 65MPH! THEY PAID FOR THAT REPAIR BUT I STILL FEEL LIKE THIS LAST ONE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE AS WELL. SINCE IT'S BEEN FIXED I STILL HAVE THAT LINGERING ODOR OF FUEL IN MY CAR! I COULD HAVE BLOWN UP IN IT EXCEPT THAT I REFUSED TO DRIVE IT UNTIL I COULD GET IT REPAIRED.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG, INDISTINCT ODOR SIMILAR TO THAT OF BURNING CHEMICALS ALSO INSIDE THE VEHICLE. HILEY HYUNDAI OF FORT WORTH (9000 WEST FWY, FORT WORTH, TEXAS 76108, (817) 796-8993) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.

MY WIFE WAS MAKING A U-TURN IN A FRIENDS DRIVEWAY WHEN FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN PROPELLING HER DOWN OVER A STEEP EMBANKMENT LANDING IN THE CREEK BELOW. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS NOT INJURED BUT THE CAR WAS DEEMED BEYOND REPAIR BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. WE NOTIFIED HYUNDAI ABOUT THIS SITUATION AND THEY GAVE US A FILE # AND REQUESTED MORE INFORMATION BY FAX OR EMAIL. SINCE EMAILING THEM WE HAVE NOT HEARD BACK AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THEM, ONLY GETTING A MESSAGE THAT THE VOICE MAIL BOX IS FULL. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY WAS HOLDING THE CAR FOR THEM SO THEY COULD INSPECT IT, OF WHICH HYUNDAI SAID THEY WANTED TO DO, BUT AFTER TEN ATTEMPTS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO REACH THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVES THEY CAN NO LONGER HOLD THE CAR.
THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS HAD A SLIGHT KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A SOUND FROM THE ENGINE REV AS YOU ACCERATE. THEN AS I WAS ACCELERATING PULLING FROM MY DRIVE WAY THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. YOU CAN HEAR IT AFTER SLOWING DOWN UNDER 7-10MPH, THEN ACCELERATING AGAIN. NOW YOU CAN HEAR THE KNOCKING NOISE AS THE VEHICLE IS WARMING UP IN THE MORNING. THE NOISE FADES AFTER 10MPH.
VEHICLE IS HESITANT TO CRANK. I HAVE TO HOLD SWITCH A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT WILL START. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP AND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE TYPES OF CAR.
GAS GAUGE GOES FROM EMPTY TO FULL BACK TO EMPTY AND IT CONTINUES TO DO SO. I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS AND IT SAYS IT'S EMPTY. THE LIGHT COMES ON AND EVEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES AWAY. IT HAPPENS IN PARK OR WHILE I'M DRIVING. STREETS OR HIGHWAY.

I CAN'T EVEN PUT IT ON THE LOWEST GAS PUMP SETTING AND IT WILL DISENGAGE THE PUMP OVER AN OVER AGAIN. LITERALLY, MOST TIMES ONLY BEING ABLE TO PUT 5$ IN AT A TIME VERY, VERY SLOWLY, WITH SOME GAS STATIONS LEAVING ME UNABLE TO PUMP AT ALL. I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT OVER THE PHONE FOR YEARS. AFTER GOING THROUGH CANCER TREATMENTS, I FINALLY WENT TO THE TERRE HAUTE DEALERSHIP FOR THE FIRST TIME INSTEAD OF BLOOMINGTON, ALSO FOR MORE RECALL ISSUES. THEY FOUND THE GAS PUMPING PROBLEM AND SAID IT'S THE CANISTER AND VALVE NEAR THE GAS TANK THAT NEEDS REPLACED QUOTING ME $548.65. OF COURSE THERE'S NO WARRANTY NOW AT 140,000 MILES. ONCE AGAIN LEFT TO DO THE WORK MYSELF, AS THE PART IS REALLY CHEAP AN EASY TO FIX. I DON'T KNOW HOW ONE CAN JUSTIFY THAT PRICE.. TIRED OF ALL THE CRAZY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE
FUMES IN CAB WHILE DRIVING CAUSING BURNING NOSTRILS, HEADACHE, BAD TASTE IN MOUTH, GAGGING AND NAUSEA. 2 DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE TOLD ME IT IS NORMAL FOR THE PLASTIC GAS TANK TO VENT THE FUMES IN HOT WEATHER TO PREVENT THE GAS TANK FROM EXPLODING, AND THERE IS NO REPAIR FOR IT. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT IS SAFE FOR THE DRIVER TO BE BREATHING IN THOSE FUMES. I HAVE TO PARK THE CAR AND GET OUT SO I CAN BREATHE. THIS IS NORMALLY ON DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 110 DEGREES, WHICH IS OFTEN IN LAS VEGAS SUMMERS, AND NORMALLY HAPPENS DURING CITY STOP AND GO DRIVING, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. I HAD VISITED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP ON OCT 12 2016 AND THEY SAID ITS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 62 DAYS AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 100,000 MILES ONLY COVERS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THEY ALSO SAID IT WILL COST 750 PLUS $ TO REPLACE THE "FULE PUMP" TO FIX THIS ISSUES. TO AVOID ANY EMPTY GAS SITUATION I ALWAYS REST MY TRIP B TO ZERO, AFTER FULL TANK.
FUEL SENDER (IN TANK FUEL SENSOR) HAS FAILED. FIRST NOTICED OVER A YEAR AGO WITH INTERMITTENT ERRONEOUS FUEL GAUGE READING AFTER REFUELING, BUT QUICKLY CORRECTED ITS SELF. NOTICED THE FULL FAILURE A DAY AFTER I HAD REFUELED AND MY FUEL GAUGE READ HALF FULL. ASSUMED THAT I WAS A VICTIM OF FUEL THEFT, BUT NO SIGN OF FORCED ENTRY TO MY FUEL DOOR. I REFUELED AND THE CAR TOPPED OFF WITHIN ABOUT A GALLON. HOWEVER THE GAUGE WAS STILL READING LOW. ASSUMED THAT MAYBE THE THIEVES HAD DAMAGED AND PARTIALLY OBSTRUCTED MY FILL HOSE WITH A LOST SYPHON HOSE. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE GAUGE SLOWLY ROSE TO FULL. NOW THE GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN FULL AND HALF FULL. RESEARCHED THE SENDING UNIT AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THREE MODELS AND A TSB (SB-10052842-7701) FOR INSPECTION OF THE UNIT WAS ISSUED MAY 2013 AND A REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE (SB-10060967-2273) WAS ISSUED JUNE 2014. AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT PART IS AFFORDABLE AT APPROXIMATELY $45 FROM THIRD PART VENDOR, BUT THE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE IS COMPLICATED BY THE HIGH RISK OF WORKING WITH GASOLINE AND EITHER TRYING TO REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TIGHT CONFINES OF THE CAR WITH THE FUEL TANK STILL INSTALLED OR REMOVING THE TANK WITH RESIDUAL FUEL.

IN THE BEGINNING OF MAY, 2016 AT 105K, I STARTED THE CAR AND I MADE IT DOWN THE STREET AND THE CAR STALLED IN FRONT OF A STOP SIGN. THE ENGINE, OIL, BATTERY, AND ESC LIGHTS CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TRIED TO TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WOULDN'T START. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS GOING TO COST $1000 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP SO I TOOK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED IT WITH AN AFTERMARKET FUEL PUMP FOR $375. GOT IT BACK AND IT RAN GREAT. 2 WEEKS LATER, ON MY WAY TO WORK I HAD A FULL TANK AND I DROVE ABOUT 10 MILES AND MY FULL TANK WENT TO A HALF TANK AND IT WAS SAYING I HAD 289 MILES LEFT THEN SAID I HAD 270 AND THEN WENT TO 290 MILES LEFT IN LESS THAN A MINUTE. I GOT OFF OF WORK AND THE CAR STARTED, BUT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT. I GOT IT TOWED BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING LOOSE ON THE FUEL PUMP. A WEEK LATER, IT BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A CAR WASH. I HAD TO GET IT PULLED OUT AND TOWED AGAIN. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AGAIN. A WEEK AND HALF LATER, THE FUEL INDICATOR KEPT GOING UP AND DOWN AND THEN SAID I HAD NO MORE GAS WHEN I KNEW I HAD QUARTER OF A TANK SO I BROUGHT IT HOME AND FILLED IT UP AT A LOCAL GAS STATION. IT RAN WELL AFTER THE FILL UP. DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR A WEEK BECAUSE I WENT ON VACATION. THE DAY AFTER I CAME BACK I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE AND IT DROVE FINE, BUT AFTER IT SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR 15 MINUTES, IT WOULDN'T START. I LET IT SIT FOR 6 HOURS AND CAME BACK LATER THAT NIGHT TO TRY AGAIN. IT TOOK 4 TRIES FOR THE CAR TO START AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME, PARANOID THINKING THAT IT WAS GOING TO BREAK DOWN AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS.
AFTER LOSING POWER AND GETTING HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE, I TOOK CAR INTO DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE WASTE GATE FOR THE TURBO AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED WITH MY WRAP AROUND COVERAGE THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR. WITH THIS COMES THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRS AS THE CAR WILL HEAT UP BECAUSE THE AIR CAN NOT ESCAPE. HYUNDAI SHOULD COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY AND AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER STORIES THE SAME AS MINE, A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI!!!
I WAS TRAVELING TO RETURN MY VEHICLE TO SOUTHERN STATES HYUNDAI ON STATE HIGHWAY 70 IN DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA WHEN SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY VEHICLE EXPLODED. AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION, I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50 M.P.H. NOT ABLE TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND UNABLE TO BREATH BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE, I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND JUMPED FROM THE CAR.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WITH TWO BARS LEFT ON THE GAS GAUGE (DASHBOARD SAID DISTANCE TO EMPTY: 80 MILES) , THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT IT WAS OUT OF GAS. I PUT A GALLON OF TANK AND IT WORKED. HOPING THAT IT WAS JUST ONE TIME PROBLEM, I WAS DRIVING IT CAREFULLY FILLING GAS WHEN IT HAD THREE BARS LEFT ON THE GAUGE. A WEEK LATER, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHEN THERE WERE 4 BARS (130MILES TO EMPTY ON THE DASH). TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME BE REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP FOR $1,000 WHICH I DECLINED AT THE MOMENT. I HAD 63,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY SONATA 2011 ARE HAVING THE SIMILAR PROBLEM.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,543.
AT RANDOM TIMES THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SHOW THE CAR IS TOTALLY EMPTY AND THE FUEL WARNING LIGHT STARTS FLASHING EVEN IF THE CAR HAS OVER HALF A TANK. AFTER SOMETIME IT MIGHT GO BACK TO NORMAL. WHEN FLASHING EMPTY AND I GET GAS, THE TANK WILL TRIGGER THE PUMP THAT IT'S FULL AFTER ONLY A COUPLE OF GALLONS AND THE GAUGE WILL SHOW THE TANK IS FULL. I HAVE STARTED RESETTING THE TRIP ODOMETER AFTER EACH GAS STATION VISIT, AND MAKING SURE I DON'T GO OVER 150 MILES.

ON 5 OCCASIONS MY CAR HAS TEMPORARILY STALLED/LOST POWER FOR AN INSTANT, ALWAYS AT FREEWAY SPEED WITHIN 10 MILES OF MY HOME. THE SENSATION IS AS IF THE CAR HAD RUN INTO SOMETHING HEAVY ON THE PAVEMENT. IT VIOLENTLY PITCHED MY WIFE AND I FORWARD AND I EXPECT THAT WE WOULD HAVE HIT THE DASH HAD WE NOT BEEN WEARING SEATBELTS. AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY IN ALL CASES, THE CAR HAD BARELY ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO DRIVE MORE THAN 25 MPH FOR THE COUPLE OF MILES TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THEY CANNOT REPAIR A PROBLEM WHICH THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE. I UNDERSTAND THIS BUT FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT HYUNDAI HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. I AM ONLY 30,000 MILES INTO A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR

SINCE JULY 2010 THIS CAR CONTINUALLY GETS AN ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER AND EACH TIME I AM THERE THEY REPORT THAT NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE VEHICLE (2011 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T) LEAKS GAS AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AFTER FILL UP. THIS CAN CONTINUE AFTER 2 BARS REMOVED OFF FROM FUEL GAUGE. IT HAS LEAKED IN THE GARAGE, WHICH INTURN HAS GOT GAS FUMES IN THE HOUSE. THERE IS ALSO AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF GAS IN THE CABIN. WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN TO CLEAR THE FUMES. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IS NOT TAKING SERIOUS. WILL IT TAKE AN EXPLOSION FOR SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL FUMES. MY HUSBAND HAD MENTIONED TO ME WHILE I WAS WARMING MY CAR THAT THE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE WAS VERY STRONG. FUEL SMELL 2011 SONATA LIMITED NO TURBO. VERY NOTICEABLE FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN AFTER CAR IS WARM AND AT IDLE OR WHEN MOVING LESS THAN 10 MPH. HAVE HEARD/READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS RELATED TO OVERFILLING GAS TANK, THIS TANK HAS NEVER BEEN OVERFILLED. OPENED HOOD AFTER CAR WARM AND GAS SMELL IS VERY STRONG. OPENED TRUNK AND THERE IS NO SMELL. 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GAS FUMES MOST NOTICEABLE AT RED LIGHT AND SLOW SPEEDS. *LN
THERE HAS BEEN AN ODOR OF GASOLINE ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED IT STARTED AT MY LAST GAS FILL UP. I DID NOT TOP OFF THE TANK. THE PUMP SHUT OFF WHEN FULL, AND I STOPPED PUMPING. THIS ODOR STARTS WHEN SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT AND STAYS IN THE CABIN UNTIL I'M MOVING AGAIN. I THOUGHT IT ONLY STARTED WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT AND SAT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, HOWEVER WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME IN A BLIZZARD YESTERDAY AT SLOW SPEEDS (15-25 MPH) CONTINUOUS, THE SMELL WAS CONSTANT. LATELY IT IS SO BAD I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. ONE TIME, I ALMOST PULLED OVER AT THE ROADSIDE, AND WAS GOING TO GET OUT OF MY CAR TO GET FRESH AIR, BUT THERE WAS TOO MUCH TRAFFIC.
