2019 Honda Pilot Other Problems

While driving at 30-35 mph, your car's dashboard lights flickered and the collision mitigation system activated unexpectedly, causing hard braking and a sharp swerve to the left that nearly pushed you into the adjacent lane. Your car then shifted into neutral and stopped, requiring you to pull over. The dealership cleaned the camera behind your rearview mirror as a potential fix, though you're unsure if that was actually the problem since you'd recently washed the car.

All of the safety features are failing starting about August 2025. Warning lights are lit for collision mitigation, cruise control, high beam, lane departure, braking, EVERYTHING!!! We replaced the battery but that is not the problem.

The front winshield camera stop warning and now Im getting the following warnings: lane departure warning, Adaptive Cruise Control Automatic Emergency Braking Blind Spot Warning Forward Collision Warning Lane Departure Warning Lane Keeping Assistance And now the car is showing: Emission System Warning

Our when using auto idle our car, and we press the break our car will sometimes get locked in park and we cannot switch gears. We have been stuck in traffic several times with 3 children in the back. I called honda to open a case and escalated to a supervisor, Case #15600713 and was told because the car was out of warranty.

The rear back-up camera in my 2019 Honda Pilot quit working. Apparently the problem is associated with the infotainment system. Many owners will not fix this issue because of the high cost of repairs, almost $5000.

On the highway, driving at 70mph, the speed of the car dropped suddenly down to 40mph. Almost caused an accident as there wasn't time for other cars to break or move lanes. Managed to exit and drove slowly to the dealership.

I have the auto restart and the engine with shuts off normally when I come to a stop when I have the system engaged. The problems begin when I take my foot off the break expecting the engine to start up again. What happens inconsistently is that when I take my foot off the brake, the engine shuts off, shifts itself into Nuetral, and I have trouble getting the engine to start up again.

On or about June 15, 2023 I put my 2019 Honda Pilot in reverse and observed the dashboard screen displaying an assortment of green and purple colors, which is blocking the rearview image, making backing up unsafe. My vehicle is just shy of 5 years old and only has 33,000 original miles, has never been involved in an accident and is always garaged.

According to a Honda dealership, a bracket holding the exhaust pipe under the car snapped and caused the pipe to then lay on the bumper, which melted the bumper. They said there was nothing they could do. This is a manufacturer defect.

Auto stop start is erratically failing to properly restart the car after brake has been disengaged. After arriving at a complete stop, the vehicle will properly shut down when the driver’s foot is on the brake. When the driver disengages the brakes, the engine should promptly restart and the car will find itself already in drive so it can continue to move forward.

The engine turned off and the car went in to neutral gear while sitting at a stoplight. This happened 2x in 1 day. The first time, the car was in the "auto engine idle" mode and the second time I had disabled the feature so it was at a regular idle.

I have three issues. All issues put myself and my family's safety at risk. We brought the issues to the attention of the dealership shortly after purchasing.

When I was backing my car, I saw a white car approaching from my rear end camera but there was no sound or warning sound as usual. I stopped my car until the car passed by. Then I started backing slowly without seeing any car moving or approaching.

The driver should know if the back-up audible and visual detection alarm systems have been deactivated. In the case of multi-drivers, the system should always default to 'on'. On the 2019 honda pilot, no warnings are provided if the systems have been accidentally or intentionally deactivated.

In 2022, in traffic on I35 in Temple, TX, I was in "Drive" and my car went automatically to Neutral and I could not get it out of neutral or turn my car on and off. My two children were in the car and had cars moved, I would have been clobbered. I finally got my car to turn off after several tries, but it would not turn on.

This has been an on-going problem since the beginning of the year. For at least the past 7000 miles of driving, my 2019 Honda Pilot has been juttering (Honda Mechanic's Term-not mine). Pursuant to a Honda Technical Service Bulletin on this issue, I paid $1967.06 to change the fuel injectors and spark plugs in the vehicle.

car stalled and turned off in the middle of the intersection when trying to accelerate from a complete stop at a red light. the traffic behind me almost ran into the back of my car due to the sudden stop and it taking multiple tries to get the car to restart. this has happened multiple times starting only a few months after buying the car brand new in 2018.

I was at a stop light and my car cycled off as it does when I am stopped and then it did not start back up. It stalled and the dash told me to put the car in park and press the start button and the brake. I tried it several times before it started back up.

When coming to a complete stop the idle stop turns the car off. When you take your foot off the break to restart the engine it stalls the vehicle and puts the car in neutral. The car then needs to be put in park, restarted and then can be driven again.

The idle Start stop engine when I press the brakes shuts the engine off. Then it stalls the engine, puts it in neutral and I can’t start the car when I press the gas pedal. Music turns off too.

The battery to my pilot failed with either no warning or previous misdiagnosis by two different Honda dealerships. The part is no longer available as I returned it for a core charge. I'm not sure if there are codes in my vehicle that could be retrieved.

It is available for inspection. We were driving and all of sudden the car became sluggish, started slowing down on the highway and several lights started popping up. The warning lights came up after slowing down and becoming sluggish.

The back up camera image is distorted with yellow, purple and green colors that make distinguishing objects difficult. This makes striking persons or objects much more likely. This is not an intermittent problem but a constant one.

MOST Net Off recall was repaired on 9/21/24. On all of the following dates, the same issue, Network Communication Lost and MOST Net Off would appear on the screen with it rebooting itself anywhere between 5 minutes and 1 hour. Dates are: 10/18/24, 1/16/25, 1/17/25, 1/29/25, 1/30/25 on two occasions, 2/7/25, 2/10/25, 2/12/25, 2/17/25, 2/18/25, and 2/28/25.

In August 2023, I've noticed a noise, not sure where it was coming from- the wheels, engine etc. Brought my 2019 Honda Pilot into the dealership to get it checked out but the problem couldn't be replicated. The noise is still occurring as of this writing Nov.

The recall for Fuel Pump still has no parts available? it has been 9 months long. I have called dealership every week and they keep saying no parts.

My vehicle several times has jumped forward when I remote start the vehicle. My car is always put into park gear and the emergency brake applied when parking the vehicle. At the same time the engine starts there is a lurch forward.

2019 Honda Pilot rear camera became inoperable and the word “camera failure” appears on a black screen in the front of the vehicle. This is a big safety issue as now what is behind the vehicle cannot be seen such as children or other adults.

Rear view camera safety issue! 2019 Honda Pilot EX If a pedestrian is standing still, sitting even had a person walking behind car while backing up the car the camera will not warn you at all. I can't believe Honda has not done anything to fix this problem!

The 2019 Honda Pilot is receiving a Camera System Failure regarding the rear camera. The info screen shows a black screen where once the rear camera image was. I am putting myself, pedestrians, and other motorists at risk by not being able to have a clear view when driving the car in reverse.

My rear view camera has started malfunctioning. Just yesterday weird colors came on the screen when I was trying to back up and I cant see anything. the dealer said it wasn't covered and that it would cost me 600$ to replace the cameras

I am trying to get my open recall fixed, but the dealer won’t fix it unless there is a problem and even charged me for a diagnostic test to see if there is a problem with the recall. This was at Apple Tree Honda in Asheville, NC

While driving on very straight and non-rolling hills the large red words BRAKE will appear on the dash, the brakes will start pulsing and slightly shaking for a few seconds when there is very minimal on-coming traffic. The above has happened several times and first occurred several years ago and at different mileages and different roads

Failure to restart after a stop at a stop light. Happens very often and sometimes I have to be jumped off to get it to restart. This is a very dangerous situation.

The rear back up cameras are all showing purple, green and yellow on the display. The dealers have told others with this issue that it is not covered under warranty. There are many cars with this problem.

Backup camera malfunctioning. Display on my infotainment screen shows vibrant colors, impairing visibility, only when in reverse and using the backup camera. All other screen displays are working normally.

This complaint is regarding safety recall for 2019 Honda Pilot for "fuel pump impellers" (NHTSA Recall Number [XXX]). It was published in November 2023 but Honda dealers still don't have the parts available to do the repair. The Honda dealerships that I have called say that it likely won't be available for another 6 months.

I was driving on the highway and I heard this loud noise above my head. After the loud sound happened, I wasn’t sure what had happened. While still driving it sounded like the sunroof came open by itself, so I slid the summer roof cover back and the sunroof was shattered.

The auto start stop feature in my car appears very weak. I believe the dealer replaced the battery once early on and then I have had to replace the battery at my own expense again. Now, after a new battery, it is still appearing weak.

Automatic start/stop does not consistently work - Honda dealership looked into months ago (January of 2023) and adjusted the battery power (or something to that affect), recommended new battery and it worked great again... 8 months out, the auto start/stop has started having issues again (August 2023). They said it looked like an issue with my battery power consumption, which they adjusted.

I have taken the vehicle to the dealer 3 times since taking ownership of this vehicle, for the same issue. When changing gears, usually going uphill, the car stutters. And it has not been fixed

Radio Screen is not working and completely Dark. The Backup Camera does not work! The radio and anything tied to the main screen does not work!

At least 7 months ago my back up camera started malfunctioning. When starting car first time of the day the screen would blink, fuzzy, blue, the go to black and last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. One time I went to garage and opened passenger door without vehicle on and the camera /radio lit up.??

When starting vehicle first thing my back up camera screen blinks fuzzy, then blue, then to black. After about 15 minutes the screen comes on. Have had it into dealer they cannot find a problem.

Auto Idle Stop is malfunctioning. When my car turns off at a stop using Auto Idle Stop many times the engine does not turn back on. Then I can't put make my car drive.

I am writing to report that I believe there is a problem with the start/stop function of my 2019 Honda Pilot. My vehicle has failed to restart from a complete stop (three different times) when the automatic idle-stop feature is engaged. I have taken the car to a Honda dealership and they are unable to replicate the problem/can not find the problem.

Pilot's automatic start-stop system doesn't turn back on after a complete stop sporadically. General inspection did not find any issues. Vehicle available for further inspection if a loaner is provided.

I recently experienced an issue where I was sitting at a traffic light. The auto stop/start feature had turned the car off while waiting at the light, but when I let off the gas pedal, the feature seemed to initiate a start of the vehicle, but that didn't work. The driver dash lit up saying I needed to put the car in park and hold down the break before hitting the Start/Stop engine button.

I currently have a 2019 Honda, Pilot with approximately 70,000 miles. I have had problems with the idle stop feature since the first year of owning the vehicle. I have had many instances of a restart resulting in actuating the warning lights on my instrument panel and a few times when my vehicle did not restart.

Rear camera of the car suddenly stopped working I’ve been following up for One year with the dealership and Honda. There is no response from them, the parts are not available since one year. As my car was still under warranty when I reported the issue.

Drivers side Sun Visor has lost its ability to stay in the closed position. It constantly falls down approx 5 inches in front of my head when not being used. At this position it pushes against my forehead which to me is a safety issue if something were to happen I would definately have impact in my head since I am a short person 5 ft 1 inch and perfer to sit higher up for visability.

After the automatic engine start/stop feature turns on "stops at a traffic light", the car does not restart and the car requires repeated pushes on the start/stop engine button to restart. The battery has been checked and it is in good condition. The dealer is unable to replicate the issue as it happens intermittently.

Our 2019 Honda Pilot is equipped with idle stop, where the vehicle shuts off when at a red light. The engine is supposed to restart once you release the brake peddle. However, there have been numerous times when it has been slow to start, or fail to restart.

Transmission jerking

Went to holler honda dealer to address the outstanding 2 recalls (fuel pump and tires) and was told by service department that my vehicle has no recalls according to honda system. Honda system needs to be updated with NHTSA system.

Transmission has a hard shifting loose power when accelerating slipping gear I tell the dealer they said I need to wait or get worse before it needs to fixed

The infotainment system malfunctions and back-up camera doesn't work. The entire system concerning the safety features doesn't work when the infotainment system malfunctions. We have taken our car to have the issue repaired multiple times, but nothing the dealership has done has provided a permanent fix.

While driving during the daytime on a road without any other vehicle in front of me or behind me, my car's automatic emergency braking system engaged on its own without any reason. When I brought the car to the dealership, the service advisor told me he had been getting other complaints about the same problem for this vehicle.

Navi-screen goes black, instrument panel goes black. This occurred in oct.2019 while on a long trip. Unpredictable & unreliable, couldn't use navigation system at all--occasionally booted up & would work for a few hours at a time.

Took possession of the vehicle 5 days priors with 3 miles on the odometer. Sitting at a stoplight awaiting a green light and was not able to blow the horn to alert another vehicle the light had changed. After pulling over into a nearby parking lot I tried pushing all areas of the center steering wheel area designated for the horn.

Below issues has been going on for a months now, latest was yesterday (11/30/2025). The rear-view camera image not appearing on the display (a safety hazard). Audio and display flickering or the entire screen going black.

“Camera system failure” Backup camera failing to operate when in reverse. Recall not showing for our vehicle even though recall shows its for the 2019+ models. Online talk points to a camera issue and not a wiring one.

Emission system engine light coming on and off. When getting it scanned just comings up with a general code they said it could be tons of different things. doesn't pin point anything.

The backup camera on my 2019 Honda Pilot stopped showing a clear backup picture. Now when I backup the picture on the screen is green and purple. The picture on the screen is very poor quality.

Multi purpose lights on

car completed died in a drive-thru. I believe it was due to the auto-start/stop feature. couldn't turn the car on, couldn't put it in neutral.

Backup Camera displays "camera system failure." I believe the 2019 honda pilots were affected but I did not receive a mail stating to do a backup camera recall.

The back up camera is not working properly. It shows a lot of colors (green , purple) while blocking the rear view in the back up screen.

rearview camera image is blurry and rainbow colored (mainly purple and green). This is unsafe because I cannot see clearly out of my camera. We have had it in the shop for oil changes, tire rotation etc, where they could see problems with the camera image as well.

Back up camera just suddenly started showing a wide range of colors. It looks almost like a thermal camera. I am unable to see behind me when I back up.

When we are driving the vehicle brake light lights up on dash and car breaks for a second or two. There are no cars around and no railroad tracks. It just does it a random times.

The picture from the back-up camera, as displayed in the infotainment center, has become grossly colorful and requires extreme scrutiny to determine specific shapes, rendering it untrustworthy. This happens every time the car is put in reverse. The car gave no warning that there was any issue.

The backup camera image is distorted and the coloring is wrong (green and purple) and you cannot see the image from the camera. When researching online, there are numerous reports of 2019 Honda Pilot with similar issues. This situation happens when moving in reverse when the backup camera is on.

Vehicle was turned off and in park and it rolled backwards down the driveway.

Rear Camera Failure even after recall performed.

Car drops to Nuetral while breaking at red light. Car must then be put to Park and turned off and back on before it can proceed. Highly unsafe when there are cats waiting behind.

I am requesting a recall to be reissued to my vehicle. Recall is 23-047:6MX00 2019-23 pilot farka service cables safety recall. I bought my vehicle to Bay Ridge Honda for 2 recalls and an oil change on July 21, 2023.

While waiting at a busy intersection, waiting to turn left, the idle stop malfunctioned and the engine would not restart. I was left in the middle of a busy intersection with my son in the car. After 20 minutes I finally disconnected and reconnected the battery in order to get the car out of the intersection.

At a stoplight my vehicle completely shut off and would not restart until I put the car in park, then pushed the brake and pushed the button to start. I believe it went into the idle stop mode just before this happened.

During stops, when I release the foot from the brake pedal, car suddenly shuts off, which becomes a safety issue. It takes me a minute or two to get the car started again. In case I shut off the "Auto-shutoff" feature, car works perfectly fine.

Auto restart after stop does not seem to be functioning. After stopping at a light, auto restart did not start the car again.

Start/Stop (auto Idle stope system) function issue. I have several incidents where the start/stop malfunctions. The other day I was on a red light and when I pressed the gas pedal to start driving the vehicle hesitate to start and begun to move backward.

Auto start feature not starting engine once brake pedal is released after engine is turned off at traffic stops due to this feature. It takes 6 to 7 tries when this happens to get the engine started while all this time putting the occupants of the car in anxiety and putting our lives at risk to push the car to the side. This has happened repeatedly in the last few days.

The engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged. This is the third time has occurred. Many people online are reporting the same issue.

The "auto idle stop" function has begun to randomly NOT restart the Honda Pilot. When this occurs, the Pilot must be placed in park and then restarted. Restart is not always immediate.

The start/ stop feature is malfunctioning. I was at a red light stopped this morning and the start/ stop feature kicked in and turn off the engine. However the switch or gear jumped to Neutral with no action from me and the car stuck.

The Honda Pilot repeated failed Maryland Emission inspection. I am requesting the NHTSA to investigate nationwide before it becomes a major safety issue. The Maryland emission officials are also aware that most 2019 Honda Pilot is failing the emission test.

There have been several instances where the engine just shut off when I had the Stop/Start Engine functionality in the "ON" mode. Once it was in traffic on the highway and other times it was in residential streets. The car would flash an error message on the screen and it usually takes time to get it restarted.

I was driving with my granddaughter. When we were stopped at a light and my car shut down. I didn’t know what to do.

My husband and daughter were driving on the freeway normal speed limit, and the liftgate glass blew out. The car is not even 7000 miles, nothing hit it. After doing a little bit of research I came across posts where some people have had issues with other Honda models and the company does not cover glass under warranty.

The auto ignition shutoff turns the vehicle off when stopped, such as at a stop sign or stop light. The vehicle is supposed to turn back on automatically when the brake is released, but instead the vehicle dies requiring you to scramble to put the vehicle in park and hit the ignition button. The auto ignition shutoff must be turned off manually every time you use the vehicle.

I bought a used 2019 honda pilot touring AWD from gillman honda in fort bend, tx in the summer of 2020 and as of the last 2 months have experienced issues with the infotainment system where the screen goes completely black while driving. I get an error message saying that network has been lost and eventually the system reboots over time by itself.

As I was slowly pulling into a parking space, with my foot covering the brake the car rpms shot up and it suddenly accelerated slamming into the vehicle in front of me. I was standing as hard as I could on brake and it would not stop the car. The car that was hit had someone standing behind it loading her groceries, the force of the impact caused her car to hit her and knock her to the ground.

Takata recall- air conditioning is lukewarm. It's not producing cold air.
