Service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
criticalSERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Dec 2025

Your Honda Odyssey's collision avoidance braking system (CMBS) has activated and slammed on the brakes multiple times without warning when there were no nearby vehicles, causing sudden stops on the highway. This happened at least three times between November 12 and November 25, creating a serious safety risk for you and anyone following behind. Your dealer checked the system but found no diagnostic codes and couldn't replicate the problem. The fix will likely involve a software update, sensor recalibration, or replacement of the CMBS components once the dealer can identify the root cause.

Your blind spot monitoring system is shutting down while you're driving and showing an error message telling you to see a dealer. You're also getting error messages when trying to use driver assist features. The dealer found that your vehicle needs a software update to fix these problems, but the update isn't available yet. The fix will likely involve installing the necessary software update once Honda releases it.

Forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your car's collision avoidance system unexpectedly activated and applied the brakes while you were changing lanes onto an off-ramp, even though there were no other vehicles nearby. Your car also tried to steer you back into the main lane and displayed a collision warning beep. The system appears to have reacted incorrectly, as there was nothing around that should have triggered the safety feature.

Vehicle Speed Control,service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
highVEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Nov 2025

When you're driving on the highway with adaptive cruise control engaged, your Odyssey suddenly cuts throttle and may automatically brake whenever the road surface changes—like when crossing bridges, entering toll plazas, or switching from concrete to asphalt. This causes your speed to drop 10-15 mph unexpectedly before resuming, which can startle following drivers and cause you and your passengers to lurch forward and backward. The sudden motion can also affect your steering control and destabilize the vehicle. This issue has been reported by multiple other 2018+ Odyssey owners on online forums.
