At only 520 miles, your 4Runner suddenly made a loud mechanical noise and lost power while turning left in traffic, forcing the engine to rev without accelerating. A dealer diagnostic found that two pressure control solenoids in the transmission were stuck, causing the engine and transmission to slip severely out of sync. The manufacturer says the transmission, torque converter, and hybrid module need to be replaced, but has refused to repair it because your vehicle's identification number isn't on their service bulletin yet, despite the diagnostic codes matching known defects in this transmission model. This repair will likely involve a complete transmission and torque converter replacement along with hybrid system inspection.

Your 4Runner with the iForce Max hybrid powertrain lurches forward unexpectedly when stopped in traffic or at low speeds, which could potentially cause an accident. The dealership says this is normal hybrid operation with no fix available. This unrefined transmission behavior is a serious safety concern if your car moves forward on its own.

Your rearview mirror is positioned in a way that creates a blind spot in your upper right field of view when looking through the windshield. Both you and your passenger may have difficulty seeing in this area, which could affect safety when changing lanes or turning right.
