2018 Honda Odyssey Other Problems

The Auto Engine Idle Stop causes the car to die while at stop lights, stop signs, in the middle of intersections. when disengaging the AIS the engine stutters and then displays “Shift to Park” then it says to push the brake to start the car but it doesn’t always start up. Sometimes it requires opening the door.

I bought my van used in March of 2025. within 6 weeks I noticed when accelerating my van hesitated about 3 seconds before going when I went to take-off. This has caused great concern .

My car have never in an any accident but my distance radar sensor not working. And it’s very risky to drive under this condition and it’s very big safety for me and my life so help me to fix this issue.

The Auto Idle Stop system causes the engine to stall or fail to restart after being stopped. The error that comes on sometimes says "Collision Mitigation System Problem" on the dashboard, or sometimes "Transmission Problem. Apply Parking Brake When Parked", but either way it happens when I release the brake to drive again after a stop when the Auto Idle Stop comes on.

Upon starting the vehicle we get the following warning lights: Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Blind Spot Info System Problem Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Transmission System Problem Collision Mitigation System Problem The vehicle is drivable but none of our safety features work.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey experienced a heavy snowfall in January 2025. The control panel displayed an alarm, Power Tailgate Problem , and the trunk door could not be opened.

Why has there not been a recall on Honda Odyssey's multi camera in windshield - it seems this is happening to many autos. These are ALL Safety issues that should be resolved by Honda. Dealership says it will cost me $2000 to have this repaired.

When the vehicle is at a full stop and you press the gas, there is a stall in the vehicle acceleration. I’m unsure if this is a transmission or engine issue however it has done this since the date of purchase. I have contacted a Honda dealer who stated “this is a known problem but there is no solution for it”.

Five years old vehicle jerked and almost came to a complete stop. Engine transmission services warning popped up as soon as the jerk happened the first time. Another warning came up as well.

The auto idle on my van has cause problems for over three years. I have reported this to our Honda dealership numerous times. The car dies when I am stopped and I try to take off.

My sunroof exploded while driving on the interstate. Nothing hit the car.

Like many others, I am experiencing hard shifts between the 25-30 MPH range. The downshifting is also very hard. While I don’t hear clunking like I do with a gear shift, it will jerk down to a gear that seems too low and almost feels like the brakes are being applied when they are not.

On august 28,2019 my van had been parked in the garage all morning until I decided to go pick up lunch. I drove about 10 mins to the restaurant, parked for around five mins, then got back in car to drive home. About five mins into the drive home I heard what sounded like a bomb going off and then a scattering sound.

The van brakes have squealed since brand new 2018 purchased, returned van and they installed new brake pads and possible other parts however the brakes still squeal, ive called and the dealership says they don't know whats wrong and don't know how to fix. The 2nd issue is the cds when played get very hot like on fire hot, took van in to get looked at. The dealership replace cd player .

Push button shifting from reverse to drive is problematic. If the drive button is not pressed firmly enough the vehicle remains in reverse, but the driver thinks that the vehicle is in drive. If there is a person behind the vehicle and the operator presses the throttle then a possibly deadly accident can occur.

When pressing the accelerator from a stopped position, sometimes there is a need to let off the accelerator and then press it again. There are times when I do this sequence of events and the car doesn’t accelerate but almost seems to stall. Pressing the accelerator does not increase the speed.

Honda navigation system displayed a message that a map update is available. Followed the honda instructions to process the map update using a USB device. While updating at 78% complete, the system displayed a message that the update failed.

Today I was driving on my road and there are small hills. I was going around a curve I take every single morning and my car kicks really hard as if it is having trouble changing gears. sometimes it makes loud noise.

As you are driving the car, out of nowhere, you will hear a very loud chainsaw noise coming from the engine compartment that will last a few seconds, immediately after the noise the car seems to roll as if the engine is not in gear or there is no gas going into the engine even though you are pressing on the gas pedal. This has happened around 5 times over the last month.

Hello, my name is [XXX] . I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey that I bought brand new 6 years ago from Open Road Honda in Edison, New Jersey. We received a notification of the tailgate malfunctioning out of the blue yesterday evening.

As I was driving down the interstate in my 2018 Honda Odyssey, clear of other vehicles or debris, I heard a loud bang and saw glass slide off the back of my car. I could instantly hear the air in the moonroof as if it was open. Fortunately, I had the cloth/hard cover closed so no glass got in my car or on me.

The rear view camera on this car is defective. Honda and the dealership appear to be playing games with customers stating that they will get this dealt with but no ETA has been forthcoming the whole of 2022.

The automatic tail gate hatch closes when its fully open. It will close while under it and bumps your head if you're not careful. I have bumped my head a few times.

The component that is giving me issues is the power liftgate. As I have been driving down the road, it has unlocked and opened even at a stoplight. And would go up and down up and down until finally it runs the battery completely dead.

The door panel on the left sliding door became separated from the door itself thus preventing the door from opening. The malfunction prevent egress from that door. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for repair.

Mirrors are diverting from adjusted position almost every time I start the car, sometimes even in middle of driving! Disabling me from seeing what's wonderful

I received a recall notice (NHTSA recall number 20v-439) for the back-up camera on my 2018 honda odyssey by mail in september 2020. I have repeatedly contacted the local dealer to have the repair made (3 times in the last 4 months) and have been told each time that the necessary parts for the repair are on "back order" and are unavailable.

Taking noise at morning calls start

When I slowed to a stop, the car suddenly died in the middle of the street and went into park. The air conditioner continued to run, we could not get it out of park. My concern is that the dealer says this has never happened before.

There has already been a recall issued for the latches on both sliding doors. I was notified at the end of 2018 about this recall however my dealership (hubler honda) did not have the parts at that time. They encouraged me to bring my van to back to hubler honda at the beginning of 2019 as the parts would be more readily available.

Unusual super loud noise come from AC fan under the hood when AC is on.

I should have never gone back to honda! My 2018 honda odyssey has been another lemon! Bought the car as a cpo on december 21, 2018 with just over 3,000 miles.

Panel behind the gas pedal and brake pedal is missing. This exposes a large area of electrical wires. A driver will easily be able to get his feet there while stretching his legs and intentionally mess up the wiring.

Brand new vehicle. Approximately 700 miles on odometer. Passenger side sliding door would not close completely; either via the push-button operation or manually.

I just got delivery of this new 2018 ex-l w nav+res. The horn on this vehicle is too soft and sometimes on busy highways cannot be heard from other cars when the it is pressed in emergency, especially if the other driver is lessening to radio at moderate to high volume. Compared to previous years odyssey and other vehicles this model trim has a single horn whereas other had double.

When driving, my van will switch from drive to park. The van makes a rubbling sound then cuts off. I restart the van the van and it drives.

I am reporting a safety incident involving the power sliding door system on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. Today, Monday, February 9th 2026, my 3 year old child’s arm was caught and compressed by the power sliding door. At the time, she pressed the interior door button while I simultaneously pulled the exterior door handle.

The Foward Looking Camera is failing and causing all the ADAS not to work and has all the lights on the dash. The code comes back as U3000-49 which is a multi purpose camera failure.

The car doent accelarate 2 seconds offen

Passenger side sliding door consistently failing to close. Each time problem occurred the showroom needed to reset the door. While traveling if this slide door open it is closing back.

Water intrusion is causing failure of my liftgate module. The maintenance shop has identified this as the issue. After doing some research, this appears to no be a one time situation as I have read of several other owners experiencing the same issue.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: [XXX] for fuel pump but they tell me NOT my VIN number. I had to replace this item last January 2023 for $1500.00 I would like my money back. I have filed with Honda to escalate my issue.

After rain, the next day, I get error tailgate problem on my dashboard. I can no longer open it using my remote or from the front panel of my van. I saw many complaints of similar issue out there.

Auto restart feature when enabled did not restart vehicle after coming to a stop at stoplight on multiple occasions in the last few months rendering vehicle unable to proceed. We recently saw news article about same issue with Pilots.

My car stopped me in the middle of the road and went into parking, next it showed transmission something on the screen... I turned off the ignition and turned it back on after about 15mins And I was able to drive off .. It was then I went online to check what caused it and realized there's a recall on that and I didn't get mail or an email about that

The driver-side door power lock does not fully close resulting in an inability to unlock the driver's side door after closing and therefore inhibit entry through that door. Manually pushing in of the lock restores the ability to power-unlock, however it does not restore function to the power locking mechanism.

While in motion at a speed where the vehicle auto locks the doors, the driver's door power lock will attempt to repeatedly lock the car door. The lock appears engaged, however it is not closed as far as the passenger side lock. The locking attempts can be reduced by pushing the lock manually to a fully closed position.

Cabin watch safety feature for passengers malfunctioning periodically

When I stop curbside for school carpooling (I have 5 children at 3 different schools) to allow passengers to exit the passenger side sliding door, I then cannot get it to close. The door will slide all the way to within 1 inch of closing and pop back open. Repeatedly.

Drove vehicle, parked, and kept car running. Had only set of keys in hand when I got out of the car. Used the key fob to lock the car.

When I was driving in highway at 70 mile/h, the sunroof glass broken. I did not see anything hit my car, no truck and bridge near by.

Power sliding door closure

Vehicle randomly displays a warning that anti-theft cannot communicate and instructs driver to press and hold power. After several failed attempts at restarting the vehicle, we discovered that it meant the radio power, not the push start for the car. It is not clear if this means the radio antitheft or the vehicle anti-theft.

Front and rear parking sensor failure. Turned care on and alarm sounds and flashes parking sensor error. Alarms continuously.

I just bought a brand new honda odyssey 2018 ex-l on october 16, 2017. Turned off the engine completely and will hear several loud pop sounds from the back of the van.
