2018 Honda Odyssey Cruise Control Problems

Issue Description: My 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX] ) has a total failure of the Multipurpose Camera, permanently disabling the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS). In addition to these, the regular Cruise Control is also disabled. These are primary safety systems, not elective conveniences.

Since 2020, we have noticed that the 2018 Honda Odyssey we own will not accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed. There is a noticeable delay between 1 to 3 seconds for the vehicle to accelerate. Once the vehicle accelerates, it does so at an increased rate of speed that is dangerous and scary.

Warning messages for the following appeared: brake system lane keeping/assist system collision mitigation system problem road departure mitigation system problem auto-high beam problem adaptive cruise control problem None of these safety features now work. Our local dealership told us it was a failure of the multipurpose camera unit. The fix we are told is a $1400 part.

The battery in our van weakened and needed to be replaced. Upon replacement with brand new battery, a ton of new warnings began. These included problems with: Adaptive cruise control; lane assist; collision avoidance; auto high beam, and maybe another.

When the pedal is pressed, there is a delay in acceleration. This has happened several times over the past couple of months. It seems to happen mostly when trying to make a left-hand turn, typically at low speeds or from a stop.

The transmission stalls and doesn’t shift into different gears or takes a long time to shift while letting the car roll (almost causing accidents as I have no control) The van also rolled back on its own down my driveway while I was trying to park and wouldn’t go into gear until I was able to get a complete stop.

My vehicle stalls when I turn left or right from a stop light or sign. It’s incredibly dangerous especially when I have my kids in the van with me. We’ve taken it to the Honda dealer for repair and they’ve done work but the issue has not been resolved.

Stalling lagging on acceleration. Leaving me stranded in the middle of road or intersection. Honda dealership says they can duplicate the issue, but there is no fix.

The Honda sense front facing camera has went out on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. The camera is currently still installed in my van and if it is necessary to replace to keep it from draining the battery I will request that the faulty part be provided to me. This camera being faulty causes the loss of cruise control, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, lane keep assist and emergency breaking.

I have a 2018 odyssey and have only had it for about 6 months. One of the biggest issues I’ve noticed is when I go to accelerate, the car does not go right away. I have to push down hard on the pedal and the tires spin, resulting in the van lurching then accelerating quickly.

My van has been having increasingly frequent speed control problems. When attempting to pull out from a stop, the gas pedal will become unresponsive. Then, I will press the gas pedal harder and the vehicle will burn rubber.

Blindspot monitoring, emissions system problem, transmission system problem all come on at the same time when vehicle is motion. Unable to manually shift if needed. A lot of vans had recall, however ours is not on the recall list, but we highly believe it should be due to safety concerns due to transmission failure.

Our van regularly hesitates when to accelerate from a stop. Example, when turning left across traffic, depressing the accelerator will provide some speed to get into the intersection, then it becomes unresponsive. Letting up and pushing the accelerator will cause the van to move again after about .5 to 1 seconds.

The engine stall when trying to enter traffic after stopping at an intersection,it pauses for a while take long time to pick up.this is very unsafe when entering traffic or stop sign.it happened constantly since purchased.also after stop ,I have to push the gas hardly to pick up to normal drive I went dealer two times they check the car and they can't resolve this issues vehicle has also safety recall ,they fixed it I had problems with audio system,no sounds they replace it

One week ago, I was driving on a highway, accelerating to the 65 MPH speed limit on that road, my van's accelerator completely stopped responding. Despite pumping the pedal repeatedly, I was unable to control my speed at all, and the car continued to lose speed.

We purchased our 2018 Honda Odyssey in January of 2024. Since we purchased the car, it regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This regularly yet intermittently causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because the acceleration does not work and feels as if it is failing for 2-4 seconds.

I don't yet know the exact cause of the problem, but while at highway speed (approx. 72 MPH), my wife pressed the gas pedal to accelerate, and it didn't work. She continued to press the pedal, and after several seconds, the vehicle did accelerate.

When starting from a stop - either dead stop or coasting stop, but after applying the brake, when you start gently pressing the accelerator, nothing happens for an excessive amount of time. Likely only a second, but feels much longer when you're trying to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic.

Camera projector fail and 6 warning ️ lights came on, very common issue.

Did not control speed sometime up and down engine.

I was driving the car at 40 miles per hour on a back road without cruise control engaged. The road was one lane each direction, fully marked with lines, and gentle rolling hills. In a about mile long straight stretch I came upon a cyclist using the center of my lane and climbing one of the hills.

If acc (adaptive cruise control) is engaged (as well lkas -- I have not tested with acc alone) and the car goes down a hill (even with moderate slope), the brakes don't applied properly, and the car speed keeps on increasing violating the cruise control setting.
