Your 2018 Honda Odyssey has been diagnosed with engine failure caused by rod bearing failure (rod knock) at 72,500 miles, despite regular maintenance. The dealer quoted $8,800 to replace the engine with a used one, and Honda Corporate denied your goodwill claim. Your vehicle is now completely inoperable and unusable for family travel.

While driving on the highway, your check engine light came on and off, and you heard what sounded like engine knocking. After pulling over, the engine suddenly seized and stopped when you slowed to 45 mph, leaving you unable to restart it or shift to neutral. The dealership found the engine had catastrophic internal failure and needed complete replacement at 126,000 miles. The issue may be related to a known Honda technical service bulletin (TSB 24-003) for connecting rod bearing failure, which your vehicle wasn't included in despite being from the affected year.

The vehicle has recently and suddenly developed a loud engine knocking sound which sounds like an engine bottom-end knock (crankshaft or connecting rod). The sound is dependent upon engine RPM and is most noticeable at low RPM and when the engine is warm.
