Both your sun visors rotate down on their own and won't stay in place, blocking your view through the windshield and creating a head-strike hazard when getting in or out of the vehicle. Your driver's side visor has already been replaced twice under warranty, but the underlying design problem hasn't been fixed. Addressing this will likely require Honda to replace the visor assembly or redesign the mounting mechanism that keeps it in position.

Originally this happened 2 years ago.. The bracket where my serpentine pivot arm and my alternator mounts to my engine block. Well those bolts broke the holes they screw into on my engine block. Jb weird this together temporarily till finding a better fix. My engine block is the cast aluminum so u can't well anything on there to hold the screws in. The other day I am driving my car and the bolts just came out while driving causing my belt to slip off and I couldn't turn my steering wheel.
The visors on both the passenger and driver side split in half and were hanging down. This caused the visors to block my field of vision and made driving more hazardous. There were no warnings prior to failure; however, I found online that this is a known problem (https://considertheconsumer.com/class-action-settlements/honda-civic-visor-recall-settlement). Honda did not contact me concerning the recall and I did not find out about it until I googled the information.

TAKATA RECALL HI I AM HAVING SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION NOT WANTING TO TURN FOR SEVERAL MOMENTS AFTER PUTTING THE KEY INSIDE TO START MY 2007 HONDA XIVIC LX SEDAN AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS AND POWER TO THE DOORS AND WINDOWS WORK BUT CAR WON'T ROLL OVER TO START. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SUN VISOR BROUGHT IT IN HAD IT FIXED IT WAS SPLITTING AT THE TOP WOULD NOT STAY UP HAPPENED AGAIN SAME THING HAPPENED TOOK IT IN ALL THEY DID WAS PUT SOME GLUE ON IT TOOK IT FOR THE 3RD TIME THEY WANT ME TO PAY 100.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED THIS IS A PROBLEM VISOR WON'T STAY UP SPLITTING AGAIN
DRIVER WINDOW WON'T GO UP OR DOWN AND THERE IS A VERY STRONG PLASTIC TYPE SMELL. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT WE IMMEDIATELY BECAME DIZZY EVEN WITH THE PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN & SUNROOF WIDE OPEN. WE DROVE LESS THAN A MILE. IT HAS BEEN OVER AN HOUR AND WE ARE STILL FEELING NAUSEOUS, DIZZY AND WEAK IN THE KNEES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN BECAUSE I BELIEVE WE WOULD HAVE PASSED OUT IF DRIVEN FURTHER. NO CHECK LIGHTS CAME ON, NO PREVIOUS INDICATION OF A PROBLEM.
DEFECTIVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS. A DESIGN ISSUE THAT HAS MANY OWNERS REPAIRING (COST OF $800) MOUNTS AT 65-85,000 MILES. CAR VIBRATES AFTER THE CAR IS COLD ESPECIALLY WHEN IN REVERSE. AFTER ENGINE WARMS UP, THE VIBRATIONS DISSAPPEAR EXCEPT WHEN THE GAS IS RELEASED AND ENGINE BREAKING OCCURS. IF CLUTCH IS DISSENGAGUED THE VIBRATIONS DECREASE. THIS ISSUE IS AS COMMON AS THE VISOR PROBLEM FROM A COUPLE YEARS BACK AND IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW FROM THE FACTORY. ISSUE OCCURS OVER VEHICLE LIFE AFTER 65,000 MILES
ON AUGUST 31, 2017 WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE HOOD SUDDENLY. FORTUNATELY I MANAGED TO PULL OVER THE CAR TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY BESIDE THE HIGHWAY OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A FATAL SITUATION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEAN HONDA AT PITTSBURGH WHERE THEY PERFORMED THE DIAGNOSIS TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THERE WAS CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WHICH HAS CAUSED THE COOLANT TO LEAK FROM THE ENGINE AND HENCE OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE HAS HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED AND FEW OTHER PARTS AS WELL (LIKE SPARK PLUG ETC.) TO MAKE THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN WHICH WOULD COST ME AROUND $4000. I DID SOME RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT MOST OF THE 2006 TO 2009 CIVICS HAD THE ENGINE CRACK ISSUE AND TSB 10-048 WAS ISSUED AND THE WARRANTY OF SUCH ENGINES WERE EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS AND THAT WOULD COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE IF SUCH ISSUES ARE FOUND. I CHECKED WITH MY SERVICE CONSULTANT AT DEAN HONDA IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. HE DID A VIN INQUIRY AND SAID THE WARRANT HAS EXPIRED 10 DAYS AGO AND THIS WON'T BE COVERED. (THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE OF THE CAR WAS 22-AUG-2007 AND THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME ON 31-AUG-2017). THIS IS A BIG BLOW TO ME. THIS IS MY FIRST CAR IN THE US. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS THE SECOND OWNER IN JULY 2015 WITH ONLY 36000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN 15000 MILES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. THE PREVIOUS OWNER ALSO NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT AND THAT'S WHY I PURCHASED IT WITH CONFIDENCE. CONSIDERING CUSTOMER'S SAFETY, THESE ENGINES NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY HONDA AND REPLACED WITH NEW ONES OR AT LEAST THE WARRANTY OF THESE ENGINES NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED FURTHER (FOR AT LEAST FOR 5 MORE YEARS). I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SURVIVE A FATAL ACCIDENT.
PAINT FALURE
DRIVER SIDE VISOR BROKEN. DANGLES AND DANGEROUSLY BLOCKS DRIVER'S VISION. IT WAS PART OF RECALL IN 2012. HAD IT REPAIRED BY HONDA 2/7/2012 AS INSTRUCTED. IT HAS FAILED AGAIN...SAME EXACT PROBLEM. NOTIFIED HONDA BUT WAS ADVISED OUT OF WARRANTY. MY OPINION IS WARRANTY SHOULD NOT EXPIRE ON A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. THEY SIMPLY INSTALLED ANOTHER VISOR OF THE SAME DESIGN KNOWING THAT IT TOO WOULD FAIL.
AFTER ABOUT 4 YEARS THE PAINT FADED REALLY BAD ON THE ROOF AND HOOD. I TALKED TO HONDA ABOUT IT AT THE TIME AND THEY SAID THEY HAD HAD LOTS OF COMPLAINTS BUT THAT MY YEAR WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS COVERED. RECENTLY I WENT IN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY YEAR HAD BEEN COVERED BUT THAT TIME HAS RUN OUT. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ADVISED PEOPLE IF THERE WAS AN ISSUE. SINCE I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T COVERED BY MY DEALER AND THEN LATER TOLD IT WAS AND TIME HAD RUN OUT.
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE IN JULY 2015 ALONG THE JOINT WHERE THE ROD RUNS THROUGH IT. HAD GONE TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE, AND WHEN I WENT BACK OUT TO MY CAR, THE SUN VISOR WAS BROKEN. NOTHING ELSE HAD HAPPENED TO THE CAR; JUST THE BROKEN SUN VISOR. SUN VISOR NOW CONSTANTLY HANGS DOWN VERTICALLY, OBSTRUCTING VIEW. ONLY TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS PUSHING THE VISOR TO THE SIDE, BUT THAT OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OF TRAFFIC ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT ONE YEAR OUTSIDE HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE VISOR. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.
I HAVE CRACK ON MY ENGINE BLOCK UPFRONT WHERE'S LEEK OUT ANTIFREEZE FROM BLOCK WHEN I CAME DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT DOESN'T COVER MY VEHICLE BUT WHEN I CHECK ONLINE IT PROBLEM ISSUES RECALL ON THIS MODEL SO WHAT SHOULD I HAVE TO DO I'M STUDENT I BUY THIS CAR FOR CASH AND I SEE THIS ISSUE FACTORY BELONG MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 115000 MILES CAN YOU RESPOND ME PLEASE.
ON MY 2007 CIVIC EX, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR POPPED OPEN AT THE PARTING LINE NEAR THE HINGE AND THE PLASTIC RIBS INSIDE BROKE. IT DOES NOT WANT TO SNAP BACK INTO PLACE IN ANY DIRECTION (FRONT, BACK, OR SIDE). IT HANGS SO LOW THAT IT IS BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD (FRONT WINDSHIELD AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW) AT ALL TIMES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA THAT IT IS NOT LISTED AS A SAFETY CONCERN...BECAUSE IT IS.
IN 2011 HONDA SETTLED A CLASS ACTION SUIT INVOLVING DEFECTIVE SUN VISORS. MY CAR HAD BOTH VISORS REPLACED IN, I BELIEVE, 2012. BOTH ARE CRACKED JUST AS THE ORIGINALS WERE. THE DANGER IS IN THE DRIVER SIDE DEFECTIVE SUN VISOR. IT CAN FLOP DOWN UNPREDICTABLY AND AND DISTRACT THE DRIVER. IF IT FLOPS DOWN HALFWAY, ITS EDGE IS AIMED AT MY FOREHEAD AND INJURE ME. THE ONLY INEXPENSIVE AND QUICK REPAIR IS A BINDER CLIP ATTACHED TO THE BROKEN PARTS TO HOLD THEM TOGETHER.
AIR BAG AND SIDE AIR BAG SYMBOL WARNING WAS COMING ON AND OFF FOR ATLEAST A YEAR & NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME
DRIVER SIDE VISOR STARTED TO GETTING STUCK AND LOOSE BEFORE COMPLETELY FALLING OFF THE HINGE. *TR
PULLEY BOLT MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING WATER PUMP TO BREAK WHILE ALSO DAMAGING THE DRIVE BELT. *JS
THIS REPORT DEALS WITH A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH MY HONDA CIVIC. IN 2009, I TOOK MY HONDA TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE CONSOLE BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS BECOMING EXTREMELY HOT, SO HOT IN FACT, THAT I COULD NOT TOUCH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS FIXED, HOWEVER, A YEAR TO THE MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN THE HEAT WAS AGAIN TURNED ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT BRACE THE HEAT LINE TO ANYTHING, THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO "WAD UP SOMETHING" TO HAVE IT REST UPON. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE MANY RECALLS AND NOW THIS SITUATION THAT KEEPS SURFACING. WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, IF IT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED TWICE.
MY SUN VISORS HAVE CRACKED/SPLIT AT THE TOP ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THEY WILL NOT STAY UP AND BLOCK MY VISION SO THAT I HAVE TO TURN THEM TO THE SIDE FACING THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THEM BOTH REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2008. THEY BROKE EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AGAIN THIS SUMMER(2010). THE VISORS ARE NOT ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE HEAT AND SEEM TO MELT AND BURST AT THE SEAM IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
WHILE OPERATING THE ABOVE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IMPLODED, BECAME UNSTABLE AND FELL INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT. THIS WAS A KNOWN HAZARDOUS DEFECT ON BEHALF OF THE MANUFACTURER, HONDA. I JUST BECAME AWARE THIS HAS BEEN A WELL DOCUMENTED FLAW IN THE DESIGN AND THE COMPANY HAS BEEN PUT ON NOTICE. THE FAILURE OF HONDA TO VOLUNTARILY RECALL AND/OR REPAIR THE DEFECTED VISOR AMOUNTS TO NEGLIGENCE ACCORDING TO MOST STATE CASE LAW. THIS SHOULD IMMEDIATELY RESULT IN A CIVIL ACTION BEFORE ANOTHER FAILED PRODUCT PRESENTS AN UNDUE HAZARD TO ANOTHER VICTIM OF HONDA.
CAR LOST OVER 15 MPG FOR A NUMBER OF MONTHS, EXTREME DECREASE IN ACCELERATION NECESSARY FOR CAR TO SAFELY MERGE OR TURN INTO TRAFFIC, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 35-40 MPH WHEN ENTERING INTERSTATE TRAFFIC, IMA AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS EVENTUALLY CAME ON, COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE IMA BATTER MODULE, MODULE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SOFTWARE HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED, CAR STILL HAS LESS POWER AND A LOSS OF APPROX 10 MPG, HONDA STATES THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS TIME, BUT THAT CAR IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DRIVES THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSES THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR PEDALS, SHE HEARS A SOUND AS IF WATER IS RUSHING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. SHE STATED THAT THE SOUND APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE TRUNK. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT DID NOT REPAIR OR DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. WHEN THE WINDOW IS CLOSED AND THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK, SHE CAN HEAR THE SOUND MORE CLEARLY AS IF SHE IS IN A BOAT. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE ALL COMPLAINTS REGARDING A 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX TWO DOOR. *KB
I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI THAT WE JUST BOUGHT THIS MONTH: 1) I WAS TOLD WE GET AM AND FM RADIO RECEPTION. I GET ABSOLUTELY NO AM RADIO RECEPTION AND WAS OFFERED THE CHOICE OF HAVING HONDA INSTALL XM RADIO (FOR $500). I INSTALLED IT MYSELF FOR $150, BUT THIS ALL SEEMS LIKE A PLOY TO GET US TO BUY XM RADIO FROM THEM. 2) EVERY DAY THERE IS A NEW PAINT DEFECT TO NOTICE. AC STOP WORKING ON MY NEW 3 MONTH OLD 2007 HONDA CIVIC. AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER COIL RECEIVED DAMAGE APPARENTLY CAUSED BT A PEBBLE THAT WAS KICKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST HONDA OWNERS FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO PROTECTION AGAINST SUCH AN EVENT AND THIS PART APPEARS MUCH TOO FRAGILE TO BE EXPOSED AS IT IS. THE CONDENSER MUST BE REPLACED AND WOULD COST $700. DEALER REFUSE TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY. *JB
A/C STOPPED COOLING. TOOK MY '07 CIVIC (FEWER THAN 6500 MILES) TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD A ROCK DAMAGED MY CONDENSER. REPAIRS ARE ESTIMATED AT $550. GOT THE BEST WARRANTY I COULD WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT STILL WON'T COVER IT DUE TO "PHYSICAL DAMAGE". AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON THE TOPIC, I'VE NOTICED COUNTLESS WEBSITES AND BLOGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE A TEXTBOOK DESIGN FLAW TO ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE HONDA, WHO "STANDS FOR QUALITY" WOULD LIKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS KEEP HAPPENING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. I'M GOING WITH THE CAMRY NEXT TIME. *JB
