2006 HONDA CIVIC CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DESIGN PROBLEM WITH DOOR FRAME THAT OBSTRUCTS VIEW OF DRIVER. *AS *JS
PAINT PEELING ALL OVER ROOF, HOOD, FENDERS, AND TRUNK LEAVING A WHITE FROST. LOOKS HORRIBLE. STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO ON THE HOOD AND HAS SLOWLY SPREAD ACROSS THE CAR WITH NO SIGNS OF STOPPING.
THE CLEARCOAT/PAINT ON THE ROOF OF MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX, COLOR GALAXY GRAY IS PEELING AND WHITE SPOTS HAVE EMERGED. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE! I KEEP MY CAR VERY CLEAN AND WOULD LIKE THE DEFECT HANDLED APPROPRIATELY WHETHER THAT BE PAINTING OR WHATEVER.
THE PAINT ON THE CAR IS FADING AND DEVELOPING LARGE WHITE SPOTS ON THE HOOD, ROOF AND TRUNK. IT IS GETTING WORSE AND SPREADING.
THE PAINT BEGAN TO PEEL AWAY FROM THE CAR ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AGO. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CAR LOOKS HORRIBLE
PAINT AND CLEAR COAT PEELING.
PAINT PEELING BADLY. DEALER UNWILLING TO CORRECT DR SIDE VISOR FAULTY BEAKS AWAY FROM MOUNT. DANGEROUS WHEN SUN IS HIGH FRONT BUMPER OF POOR DESIGN.
THE CLEAR COAT HAS DISSOLVED IN SEVERAL SPOTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE SUN VISOR IN THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER A RECALL. HOWEVER, THE SUN VISORS WERE STILL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER AND REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE RECALL DETAILS WERE UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,133.
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN GALAXY GREY METALLIC, VIN [XXX], HAS PEELING AND CRACKING PAINT ON THE HOOD, PASSENGER SIDE FENDER, AND ROOF. ON 07/29/16 THE CAR HAD 38,000 MILES. I SHOWED IT THE DEALER ON 10/29/15 AND THEY TOOK PICTURES OF THE CAR AND SENT THEM TO HONDA, BUT I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM. THIS CAR IS WAXED TWICE A YEAR, IN THE SPRING AND FALL WITH A GOOD QUALITY CLEAR COAT SAFE WAX FROM TURTLE WAX. I TAKE PRIDE IN THE APPEARANCE OF THIS VEHICLE AND HONDA?S REFUSAL TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE PAINT ON THE ROOF IS PEELING AFTER LESS THAN 10 YEARS.
THE PAINT IS WEARING OFF THE ROOF AND THE TRUNK. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA'S. THEY ONLY OFFERED TO PAY 15% OF A BILL OF AT LEAST $1350.
A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICED DISCOLORATION OF PAINT ON MY ROOF. IT COULD HAVE BEEN THERE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND I JUST NEVER NOTICED IT. TODAY WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THE TECH ADVISED ME THAT HONDA HAD HAD A RECALL ON HONDA CIVICS AND OTHER MODELS TO COVER THE REPAINTING OF FADING AND/OR PEELING PAINT, CLEAR COAT, ETC., ON THE AFFECTED YEAR MODELS. I HAD NEVER BEEN ADVISED OF THE RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT IN SOONER.
CLEAR COAT/PAINT STARTED PEELING ON ROOF AND NOW COVERS MORE THAN 50% OF THE ROOF AND THE TRUNK. THE CARE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
MY PAINT ON MY CAR WAS COMING OFF. HONDA WAS SUPPOSED TO REPAINT IT. THEY HAD USED SOME NEW ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PAINT ON THEIR CARS AND MANY CARS WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. HONDA, COSTA MESA TOOK PHOTOS OF MY CAR AND SUPPOSEDLY BOOKED ME DOWN FOR A DATE TO BRING MY CAR FOR A FEW MONTHS LATER BEFORE I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET MARRIED. THAT WAS DONE BECAUSE I NEEDED MY CAR FOR TRANSPORTATION AT THAT TIME AND IF THEY REPAINTED IT, THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP MY CAR FOR A FEW DAYS TO WEEKS SO THEY "SCHEDULED" IT FOR A TIME I WOULDN'T NEED MY CAR. I BRING MY CAR IN BEFORE MY WEDDING AND HONDA SAID THEY NO LONGER REPAINT THE CARS. I HAVE THE INFO OF THE PERSON WHO HAD TAKEN THE PHOTOS BUT HE WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I CALLED THEM TO MAKE SURE I WAS STILL "SCHEDULED" AND I EVEN SPOKE TO THE NEW PERSON WHO WAS TRANSITIONING INTO THE POSITION WHILE THE CURRENT PERSON WAS STILL THERE AND THEY BOTH ASSURED ME THAT I WAS STILL SCHEDULED FOR MY REPAINT. I CAN'T BELIEVE SUCH A LARGE COMPANY ACTS LIKE THIS. THEY DID NOT PRODUCE QUALITY AND DON'T FIX THEIR MISTAKES. THIS SHOWS THEM TO BE SO DISHONEST AND DISHONORABLE. I USED TO BE LOYAL TO HONDA AND I'M SO DISGUSTED BY THEM NOW. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND A HONDA TO ANYONE ANYMORE AND STEER PEOPLE AWAY FROM SUCH A HORRIBLE COMPANY.
DRIVER DOOR KEY CYLINDER FAILED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. COULD NOT ACCESS CAR ON A SUB ZERO NIGHT AND HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE. DRIVER'S DOOR IS THE ONLY KEYED DOOR ON THIS 4 DOOR MODEL. WE ARE NOW ON OUR THIRD DOOR CYLINDER SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. LAST FAILURE WAS 3 YEARS AGO. REPAIR COSTS FOR THIS DEFECT NOW TOTAL AROUND $2,000. FOR THE SAME DOOR!!! HAVE NEVER OWNED ANY OTHER CAR WHERE THERE WAS A SINGLE LOCK FAILURE UNTIL THIS CIVIC (AND OUR FAMILY HAS OWNED 15 OVER THE YEARS). OF COURSE, HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE POSITION IS "NOT OUR PROBLEM AS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY" THIS IS CLEARLY A SUPPLIER DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF REALLY BAD & MAKING BIG WHITE SPOTS ALL OVER ENTIRE CAR & IT'S A BLUE CAR. ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR CAME COMPLETELY OFF!
VEHICLE CLEAR COAT HAS COME OFF LEAVING VEHICLE LOOKING RUSTED ON ROOF, TRUNK, DOORS, AND HOOD.
BOUGHT A 2006 HONDA CIVIC BRAND NEW. ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, STARTED NOTICING A SMALL AREA ON THE TOP OF THE TRUNK WHERE THE PAINT WAS COMING OFF. IT GRADUALLY SPREAD WHERE PAINT WAS COMING OFF FROM THE ROOF , TO THE FRONT HOOD TO THE SIDE PANELS OF BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS DOWN TO THE FENDERS. THE CAR LOOKS TERRIBLE, BIG SPLOTCHES ALL OVER THE CAR WHERE PAINT HAS COME OFF. IT MAKES THE CAR LOOK REALLY OLD. WE HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT HONDA DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING WHERE THEY CAN RE-PAINT ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE. JUST HAPPENED TO BE READING A MAGAZINE CALLED SHOPSMART WHICH IS PUT OUT BY CONSUMER REPORTS AND THERE WAS AN ARTICLE "FIX YOUR CAR-FREE". IT MENTIONED THAT 2006-2011 HONDA CIVICS HAVING ISSUES WITH CRACKING AND/OR CHALKING ON THE HOOD, ROOF, TRUNK OR FRONT FENDERS FOR CERTAIN COLORS. THE FIX WAS THAT THE DEALER WILL REPAINT THE AFFECTED AREAS AT NO CHARGE. IN THE ARTICLE, IT GAVE DIFFERENT WEBSITES TO CHECK OUT OTHER COMPLAINTS, FIND OUT ABOUT ANY RECALLS. NOW I FIND OUT THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING WITH THE PAINT COMING OFF ALL OVER THE CAR. HONDA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOR DO THEY WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT AND SIMPLY RE-PAINT THE TROUBLED AREAS. SO, RIGHT NOW WE'RE STUCK WITH A CRAPPY LOOKING CAR. *TR
THE PAINT IS SEVERELY COMING OFF AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS. AND I HAVE CALLED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP. *JS
PAINT HAS SEVERE ISSUES NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE PAINT STARTED COMING OFF THE TOP OF THE CAR, AND NOW IT HAS COME OFF THE HOOD AS WELL. THE CLEAR COAT WENT FIRST THEN THE PAINT. *TR
TRUNK LATCH SUDDENLY FAILED. THERE IS NO KEYHOLE ON THE EXTERIOR TRUNK, AND THE FOB AND INTERIOR SWITCH CAN'T OPEN IT. THE SEAT RELEASES ARE ALSO IN THE TRUNK, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT GOING TO THE DEALER, AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MULTIPLE PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT DATE BACK TO 2008. I CAN'T GET TO MY SPARE TIRE OR ANY OF MY OTHER EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT. *TR
CLEAR COAT AND PAINT ON ROOF IS TURNING WHITE AND COMING OFF. *TR
HEAVY, LOOSE OBJECTS IN TRUNK STRUCK & BROKE OFF TRUNK LATCH ASSEMBLY, PREVENTING REAR HATCH FROM BEING OPENED IN ANY WAY, INCLUDING REMOTE. (NO EXTERNAL TRUNK KEYHOLE EXISTS.) SINCE REAR SEAT FOLD-DOWN RELEASES ARE LOCATED IN THE TRUNK, ONE OF THE REAR SEATS NEED TO BE UNBOLTED TO BE ABLE TO PULL THE SEAT RELEASE, REMOVE THE SEAT, AND MANUALLY UNLATCH THE TRUNK. THE DESIGN OF THE REAR LATCH IS NOT PROTECTED AGAINST STRIKES FROM HEAVY OBJECTS AND IS THEREFORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF THE LATCH WERE TO BREAK, THE VEHICLE GET A FLAT TIRE, AND THE DRIVER UNABLE TO REMOVE THE REAR SEAT FOR LACK OF TOOLS OR KNOW-HOW, THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO ACCESS THE SPARE TIRE AND BE STRANDED. *TR

2/21/2014 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, A VERY REAL SAFETY CONCERN! I WAS JUST GOING TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND THEN LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD AND DOES HAVE THIS. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2004 - 2011 EVEN ON LEXUS'S ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET. THE WIPER WILL STOP ON THE WINDSHIELD AND WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO STOP COMPLETELY, IT WILL STOP AND GO AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS SUPPOSE TO STOP IT WILL NOT AND WHEN IT IS SUPPOSE TO GO IT WILL STOP AND WHEN IT IS RAINING AND WE ARE EXPECTING IT TO WIPE THE WINDOW IT WILL NOT AND WHEN CARS ARE COMING AT US AT NIGHT AND WHEN THE WINDOW IS NOT WIPED, THE HEADLIGHT OF THE OTHER CAR WILL GLARE ON THE RAIN DROPS ON THE UNWIPED WINDOW AND MAKE IT SO WE ARE UNABLE TO SEE THROUGH THAT GLARE BECAUSE WE WERE EXPECTING THE WIPER TO DO THE JOB WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO. PLEASE WILL SOMEONE DO SOMETHING FOR THE PUBLIC WHEN WE TRUST A REPUTABLE COMPANY LIKE HONDA TO FIX THERE PROBLEM AND THEY WANT US TO PAY FOR THE JOB WHEN IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN OF OUR AND EVERYONE ELSE. I HAD TALKED TO HONDA AND THEY VERY WELL KNEW THE WIPER MOTOR WAS A PROBLEM FOR THESE YEARS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACE THE COVER PLATE OR THE ENTIRE MOTOR. HE TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD ONLY COST ABOUT 250 DOLLARS, I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY MY WIFE AND I ARE RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME AND I FEEL THAT IT WOULD ONLY BE UNFAIR FOR US TO HAVE TO PAY THIS. IT IS SAID ON THE INTERNET THAT WHAT HAPPENS IS THE GREASE IN THE COVER PLATE AREA GETS ON THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS AND CAUSES THE WIPER MOTOR TO ACT SPORADICALLY MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL! HONDA CIVIC 2006 EX MODEL: WHEN THE TINY PIECE OF PLASTIC INSIDE THE TRUNK RELEASE SOLENOID SNAPS, THE EX MODEL HAS NO ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM OUTSIDE THE TRUNK. SINCE THE EX MODEL LACKS AN OUTSIDE KEY HOLE AND THE SEAT BACK RELEASES ARE INSIDE THE TRUNK AND THE SEATS ARE BOLTED IN FROM THE TRUNK SIDE WITHOUT A METHOD OF REMOVING THEM WITHOUT DAMAGING THE CAR, THE SEATS OF THE CAR OR THE TRUNK LID MUST BE BROKEN (LITERALLY CUT THROUGH THE METAL) IN ORDER TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM OUTSIDE THE TRUNK AFTER THE SOLENOID PLASTIC BREAKS. SINCE THE EMERGENCY RELEASE MECHANISM IS ATTACHED TO THE SOLENOID, THIS FLAW COULD COST THE LIFE OF A CHILD TRAPPED INSIDE THE TRUNK IN THE DARK. ALTHOUGH THIS DESIGN FLAW IS NOW WELL KNOWN WITH THIS EX MODEL, HONDA REFUSES TO REIMBURSE OWNERS OVER THIS PROBLEM OR RECALL THE PART. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE REFUSES TO HANDLE THE PROBLEM EFFECTIVELY AND REFUSES TO PASS ON THE PROBLEM TO THEIR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, REFERRING CUSTOMERS ONLY TO LOCAL DEANSHIPS WITHOUT OFFERING ANY COMPENSATION FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. *TR
WE PURCHASED THIS HONDA USED NEARLY 2YR AGO. WE NOTICED THAT THE PAINT STARTED TO PEEL, FLAKE ETC.ON THE ROOF RIGHT ABOVE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND BACK WINDOW, AND ALSO ON TOP OF DOOR PANELS NEAR ROOF. WE HAVE HAD A FEW AREAS PAINTED BY A BODY SHOP. BUT IT SEEMS NEVER ENDING, MORE AREAS HAVE STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES SUCH AS TOP SIDE PANELS NEAR HOOD, AND WE CAN NOT KEEP GOING THROUGH THE EXPENSE TO HAVE IT PAINTED. IT IS A MANUFACTURE ISSUE MOST DEFINITELY! WE HAVE TAKEN NOTICE OF OTHERS HONDA CIVICS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE ONLINE FORUMS DISCUSSING THIS PAINT ISSUE, BUT HONDA IS DOING NOTHING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, WHEN MY CAR WAS ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD, I STARTED NOTICING WHITISH MARKINGS IN THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF MY CAR. SINCE THEN THESE LIGHT MARKS HAVE TURNED INTO MAJOR CHIPPING AND PEELING PAINT. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM, WHETHER OR NOT THE CAR WAS MOSTLY IN A GARAGE OR LEFT OUTSIDE ON THE STREET. BEFORE GOING INTO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN, I DECIDED TO SEARCH THE WEB AS I HAD A FEELING I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I WAS RIGHT! THOUSANDS OF OTHER CAR OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING IN BOTH HONDA CIVIC'S AND ACCORDS, FROM MODEL YEARS 2003 TO 2007, AND THERE IS EVEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT DETAILING THE PROBLEM. HONDA, APPARENTLY, IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS GLARING DEFECT AND I, FOR ONE, AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR REFUSAL TO STEP UP AND RECALL THE CARS OR ISSUE PAYMENTS TO OWNERS TO COVER REPAINTING. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, AND THEIR REFUSAL TO DO THE RIGHT THING, IN THIS DAY AND AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA, WILL LIKELY SEVERELY HURT THEIR SALES. HONDA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REIMBURSE THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO OWN AFFECTED CARS? THE RESALE VALUE HAS BEEN SEVERELY AFFECTED BY THESE DEFECTS. *TR
PAINT AND CLEARCOAT IS PEELING ON HOOD, ROOF, FENDERS, AND TRUNK LID. SEEMS TO BE A CLEAR PROBLEM WITH THE TYPE OF PAINT/CLEARCOAT USED OR APPLICATION. *TR
I JUST RECENTLY HAD MY CAR FRONT FENDERS AND HOOD PAINTED AT 87,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION HONDA HAD, BUT AT 60,000 MILES I WAS HAND WASHING THE CAR LIKE I ALWAYS DO AND WHEN I SPRAYED IT WITH WATER SOME OF THE RIGHT SIDE QUARTER PANEL PAINT JUST FLAKED OFF.. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM HONDA HAS WITH THE CLEAR COAT. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI. THE TRUNK DOES NOT HAVE A KEY ENTRY TO IT AND THE WIRELESS ENTRY SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING TO OPEN THE TRUNK. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS ABLE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE TRUNK BY REMOVING THE BACKSEAT AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL THE EMERGENCY TRUNK RELEASE AND THE TRUNK WILL STILL NOT OPEN. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT NOR ANY EVENT WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSE THE TRUNK TO NOT OPEN. I WENT TO A HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE LATCH WAS BROKEN AND THAT IT WOULD COST A TOTAL OF $400 TO FIX. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF A CHILD OR SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY GETS LOCKED IN THE TRUNK, THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET OUT UNLESS THE TRUNK IS CUT INTO. THIS DEFECT SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE AND FROM READING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE HONDA CIVIC SI'S. THE OTHER DIFFERENCE WITH THIS MODEL IS THAT THE CIVIC SI DOES NOT HAVE A KEY ENTRY TO THE TRUNK SO THERE IS NO MANUAL OVERRIDE (MINUS THE EMERGENCY MANUAL OVERRIDE WHICH DOES NOT WORK). *TR
THE CLEAR COAT IS ALMOST ALL PEELED OFF MY ENTIRE CAR IN A MATTER OF MONTHS. NOW THE PAINT UNDERNEATH IS FADING IN COLOR TOO. I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY CAR HALF WAY PAID OFF. THIS IS HONDA'S FAULT. MY WIFE HAS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC THAT HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PAINT. IT SEEMS LIKE THE HOOD, ROOF, AND TRUNK ARE BEGINNING TO OXIDIZE. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE PAID ABOUT 60% OF THE COST WITH OUR OUT OF POCKET COST AT ABOUT $300. WE WERE DRIVING ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. NO WARNING OF A PENDING PROBLEM. HALF OF THE FRONT BUMPER CAME LOOSE FROM THE FRAME AND FELL DOWN AND STRUCK THE PAVEMENT, THEN BEGAN BOUNCING UP AND DOWN, TEARING THINGS UP. LOUD NOISE LIKE PIECE OF TIRE FLAPPING IN WHEEL WELL. WE STOPPED AND INVESTIGATED THE DAMAGE. COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 35 MPH TO THE NEXT TOWN, SOME 20 MILES AWAY. REACHED TOWN AND BOUGHT AND USED DUCT TAPE TO HOLD THE FENDER UP OFF THE GROUND SO WE COULD DRIVE HOME. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALER. WE WERE TOLD THE UNDERNEATH PLASTIC CLIPS AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE DAMAGED AND THAT THE CAR MUST HAVE BEEN RUN INTO A CURB OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I INVESTIGATED FURTHER, AS I KNEW THAT THE CAR HAD NEVER HIT A CURB. IT HAS, HOWEVER, MADE SCRAPING NOISES WHEN PASSING OVER A TYPICAL PARKING LOT WHEEL STOP. IN MY JUDGMENT, THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSE BY THE FACT THAT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CLEAR WHEEL STOPS, AND HITTING WHEEL STOPS HAS SEVERELY DAMAGED THE PLASTIC COMPONENTS UNDER THE FRONT END, RESULTING IN THE BUMPER FALLING OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED. HAD BOTH SIDES OF THE BUMPER COME LOOSE, I WOULD HAVE RUN OVER THE BUMPER, PROBABLY LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND BECOMING INVOLVED IN A WRECK. LOOKING UNDER THE VEHICLE, YOU CAN SEE THAT BOTH SIDES HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY SCRAPING OVER PARKING LOT WHEEL STOPS. WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE SURVIVED. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE: 1) WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED; 2) PARKING WITH YOUR WHEELS AGAINST A WHEEL STOP IN A PARKING LOT IS A NORMAL PRACTICE AND IS NOT SOMETHING ONE WOULD NORMALLY WORRY ABOUT. REPAIRS EXCEEDED $485 AT A PRIVATE COLLISION REPAIR CENTER AND WOULD HAVE COST APPROXIMATELY $800 AT THE DEALER. REPAIRS: REPLACED CLIPS, SOME PLASTIC COMPONENTS UNDER FRONT END, AND REPAINTED BUMPER. THE DEALER REFUSED ANY WARRANTY COVERAGE. *TR
THE OVERHEAD VISORS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT GO BACK UP TO THE ORIGINAL RESTING POSITION. WHEN THEY ARE PULLED DOWN, A GAP FORMS BETWEEN THE HARD PLASTIC PORTION AND THE CENTER PORTION. NORMALLY, WHEN THEY ARE PUT IN THE NORMAL RESTING POSITION THE GAP CLOSES AND CREATES A POPPING SOUND. CURRENTLY, THE GAP WON'T CLOSE ANYMORE. I HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE WITH THE VISOR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND A HONDA RETAILER CAR SHOP REPLACED THE VISOR. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE IN THE SUMMER MONTHS. *TR
BOTH DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS BROKE BEFORE 30K MILES, AND DEALERSHIP REPLACED. VISORS HAVE AGAIN BROKEN, BUT CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE. MANY OWNERS OF SAME MAKE/MODEL CAR HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME DEFECT. I THINK A RECALL IS APPROPRIATE. *TR
I RECENTLY HAD AN INCIDENT ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX COUPE IN WHICH THE TRUNK LID DOOR JAMMED AND WOULD NOT OPEN. THERE ARE TWO WAYS OF OPENING THE TRUNK, ONE BEING ON THE REMOTE AND THE OTHER BEING THE LEVER IN THE DRIVER COMPARTMENT. (THE TRUNKS ON THESE CARS DO NOT HAVE A KEYED ENTRY.) UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED THAT THE TRUNK HAS NO ACCESS FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUNK IF THE LID DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THESE CARS HAVE A 60/40 FOLD DOWN REAR SEAT THAT IS ONLY ABLE TO OPEN FROM INSIDE THE TRUNK. AFTER SPEAKING WITH HONDA, THEY CONFIRM THAT THIS IS IN FACT THE DESIGN IF THE CAR. MY FEAR IS THAT A SMALL CHILD WILL ACCIDENTALLY GET LOCKED IN THE TRUCK OF THE CAR AND THE DOOR JAMS. THIS COULD HAVE DEADLY RESULTS BECAUSE THERE IS NO QUICK WAY TO GAIN ACCESS. *TR
2006 HONDA CIVIC HARBORS MICE IN AIR DUCTS/HEATER FAN/CABIN AIR FILTER ASSY. HONDA REFUSES TO PUT SCREEN ON INPUT TO OUTSIDE AIR INLET. MICE INFESTED CAR. I HAVE ALLERGYS THAT CAUSE ME TO SNEEZE AND HAVE ASTHMA ATTACKS. I BELIEVE THESE ATTACKS LEAD TO DANGERS WHILE DRIVING. HONDA SAYS 'MICE STUFF' IS HAZARDOUS MATERIAL BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. MY DEALER 'VACUUMED UP 'MICE STUFF'. HOWEVER ACCORDING TO GOVERNMENT GUIDLINES VACUUMING 'MICE STUFF' CAN CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD. SHOULD BE DISINFECTED.

PASSENGER SIDE SEAT TRIM BROKE OFF 4. TRUNK WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. THIS INCLUDES PRESSING THE BUTTON ON THE KEY OR USING THE INTERIOR TRUNK RELEASE LATCH. 5. REAR SPEAKER DECK LID HAS COME LOSE.*JB

THE NOISE WAS BROUGHT TO MY DEALERS ATTENTION, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO THE REAR DECK AND TIGHTENED AND FOAMED THE REAR DECK TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. CREAKING AND RATTLING FROM INTERIOR OF CAR IN SEVERAL AREAS--MOST NOTABLE THE REAR. GENERAL FEELING OF PARTS FALLING APART OR COMING LOOSE WHILE DRIVING. THE LOUDEST AND MOST TROUBLESOME NOISE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM WHERE THE REAR INTERIOR SHELF AND REAR WINDOW MEET. THE NOISE IS LOUDEST WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND HAPPENS MOSTLY WHILE DRIVING OVER ROUGH PATCHES OF HIGHWAY, CROSSING ROAD REFLECTORS, OR WHEN THE STEREO IS ON. THERE IS ALSO A "CREAKING" NOISE COMING FROM ALL AREAS OF THE FRONT DASH AND CONSOLE AROUND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DURING ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE CREAKING AND RATTLING HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST WEEK I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS AND THESE NOISES ARE NOT THE TYPICAL INTERIOR NOISES YOU HEAR IN A CAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHILE THE TECH'S AGREE THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM, THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. SO FAR, THE REAR DECK HAS BEEN INSULATED WITH FOAM TAPE AND THE CENTER CONSOLE HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. ON MARCH 10, THE HONDA AREA REP ALSO LOOKED AT MY CAR AND AGREED THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CALLED HONDA CUST SERVICE TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND WHILE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP ADMITTED HE HAS HEARD OF THIS COMPLAINT, HE ALSO WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. *NM

DURING THESE INCIDENTS, THERE ARE NO VIBRATIONS HOWEVER THE VEHICLE DOES TILT TO THE LEFT. A SERVICE DEALER CHANGED THE SUSPENSION, BUT THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
