2016 Ford Fusion Electrical Problems

Your 2016 Ford Fusion has multiple active safety recalls that haven't been repaired yet. The front brake hose recall is particularly serious — it could rupture and leak brake fluid, reducing your braking power and increasing stopping distance. Your rear view camera also isn't working properly and may show a blank or distorted image when you're reversing. You've contacted the dealership multiple times but haven't been able to get these repairs scheduled or completed. The rear backup camera system on my 2016 Ford Fusion S has failed and no longer displays an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The screen remains completely black and does not activate. The backup camera previously worked normally before this failure.

engine light turned and, scanned it and code is P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire detected. Coolant is leaking into the engine. I have looked online and multiple people have had this issue, majority of them taking their vehicles to Ford dealers and being told they need an engine replacement.

When audio system is turned on or volume is turned on, loud cracking booming and static noise comes through at random moments. More noise occurs while driving 55+ but still occurs when idiling. The audio occurrence has almost caused several accidents since its loud ear piercing noises that comes from speakers.

Car has intermittent electrical issue that causes ECUs to reboot often times disabling safety systems such as ABS, Airbags, Collision Avoidance, Adaptive Cruise Control, power steering and power brakes. Ford dealer believes that it's a short in a wiring harness. They claim this issue has been seen in several vehicles like mine.

The engine coolant leaked into the cylinders as a result the car had rough idles and startups with overheating issues as well we dying on me completely while driving. Confirmation on coolant leak by big o tires, solution is new engine. There was a cylinder 3 misfire code with the check engine light.

When driving vehicle on warm starts, vehicle stalls and engine loses power. Warm start means any time vehicle was driven, turned off, and then restarted after less than 30 minutes of being turned off. For example, when fueling at a gas station, or making a quick errand into a store or fast food restaurant.

I have a silver 2016 ford fusion the problem is the latching from driver door and rear right side door . I take very good care of my cars for this to happen twice is not my doings but the car.

Cross traffic system fault and blind spot system fault warnings intermittently appear. When this happens the climate control, entertainment control shuts off. All windows other than the driver's window cannot be operated from the driver's control.

My car was serviced by koons ford in balt, md from may 26th-28th to address a recall that required removal of my engine. After the repair, my car sat in my parking space at home the whole weekend due to covid-19. On the following monday, june 1st, my car engine exploded on i83 while my husband was using my car to go to work.

Vehicle was purchased brand new and within 9 months the motherboard crashed and had to be replaced. Since that, the car has turned off while stopped at a stoplight (vehicle was in drive and at complete stop), bluetooth does not connect at times, radio turns on and off, AC/heat turn on and off and the display blinks.

My car will shut down and lose all power without notice when I'm at highway speeds. A comment comes on the dash that says something like " transmission is not in gear" or something like that.

My ford fusion 2016 is having a bad issue and it is a dangerous one. So I was driving around with my grandmother and siblings, we had stopped by the supermarket to get some food. And when I finished parking my vehicle both driver and passenger door has opened except for the two rear doors my siblings couldnt get out the car if the handle is pulled outside of the rear door.

I was parking backing up when the horn went on the first time. I thought that I might have touched the horn sign accidentally. Driving away from work the same problem happened again the same day, horn went on blaring loud again but this time hands was well positioned on the wheel.

Ford fusion energi, did its low powered state again, this time on the free way, dropping rapidly from 75mph to 22mph and barely able to maintain that speed. The display showed the safety features becoming deactivated.

1) first issue happened 2/20/2017 odometer 7,036. Dashboard lit up, trac control, engine light, brake, message to pull over, loss of power and at freeway speed, got over shoulder safely. The onboard diagnostics system detected engine misfire, transmission related problems.

2016 ford fusion received from dealer on dec 2015. At 39 miles on the odometer, fusion would not start, and all alarms came on (low tire pressure, engine overheat, parking brake, parking sensors, etc). Car started after hitting ok and several more cranks.

Vehicle won’t start so I called my roadside/towing assistant number got someone out to do battery jump service because I been through this before twice come to find out that wasn’t the issue might needed more gas still wasn’t the issue so I got the vehicle towed to a shop it came back I needed the dealership to reprogram the vehicle they couldn’t because it wasn’t drivable so I got it towed to another shop just for them to tell me I need a new engine they didn’t know what cause the problem but just off what they seen while doing a diagnostic was low compression on all cylinders oil full and normal color (not brunt) coolant is full and clean warranty doesn’t want to cover parts that’s needed for the vehicle like cylinder head gasket check engine light always came on after repairs was fixed

While driving highway speed (70 MPH) the car suddenly lost power as I was going up hill and in rush hour traffic. I had to merge all the way to the shoulder and coast down the hill 2 miles to get to a safe location before pulling over and getting out of the car. The in-dash backup camera stopped functioning about 2 years ago. The errors are random and range from glitching video, delay in activating, not switching off(driving forward with rearview camera activated), and a error code pop-up to contact the dealer. 100 percent of the time, the image is displayed in reverse making backing up impossible.

rear view camera works ( sometimes ), The rear view camera worked fine for years, but I brought the car in for basic service at the Ford Dealer > oil change, tire rotation, fluids topped off > and after this repair, my rear view camera wasn't working.. On Saturday [XXX] I noticed when I opened my driver side door, the dash light & the light on my touch screen began flickering. I didn't think much about it at the time, but the next day, [XXX] as myself & my wife were traveling on the highway, I tried to turn on my cruise control but it would not come on. I then tried to adjust my stereo volume on the steering wheel & it wasn't working either.

Rear camera works intermittently. The Ford Dealer service said it failed and it'll be 800.00 to fix... I passed on that...

In the last 4 years the battery has had to be replaced 3 times. Each time the car runs great then is shut off and the next day won't start, no lights and can't even get into the car without the key. The vehicle can't be jumped or battery charged, everything is dead.

ABS lights, traction control lights, throttle body control lights, air bag lights, emergency break lights, rear right break lights all come on my dash, it is at random times, first starting the car up, driving it for 2 minutes or even up to 10-12 minutes. Speed, weather or making a turn or just going straight does not matter.

The 12-volt battery on the energi model will not hold a charge. Repeated jump starts are required. Despite being under warranty, 2 ford dealers claimed they don't know the source of the problem and refused to replace the battery.

The heating will only work for the first 10 minutes of the drive. Then the computer system freezes and the heat shuts off. The radio will turn on to full volume and you can't turn off the radio, or turn down the volume.

Ford sync system. Since the date of purchase the sync system will not work. It is constantly loosing hands free devices and not recognizing any voice commands.

While I was driving 70 MPH on the interstate my 2016 fusion with on 8000 miles on shut down like I was out of gas. All my dash lights came on telling me to check manual and my check engine. Was able to get over some one to put my car on a machine to tell me what was wrong with it.

The car dies in drive and in park and reverse and won't let you put it in gear, we have it on video and the check engine light appears but when you turn the car off and back on the check engine light goes off and does not keep a code. Inserting key into ignition fuel pump would kick on occasionally, the doors wouldn't always unlock upon shutting car off, dash and radio delayed coming on at times upon starting, unlocking doors with key fob there would be static coming from back speakers, keyless entry would unlock but not always relock, a few times the key wouldn't start car there would be no reaction at turning over, dash would light up at times when no key was in ignition and car locked, heater would blow hot air then turn to cold as if a/c was on, one day battery was dead and had to jump it nothing was left on and car was locked.

The same issue with the backup camera as the other vehicles in current recall. The 2016 Ford Fusion should be on that list as well.

Seemingly randomly all center console functions and door functions shut off (no a/c / heat, can't roll down/up windows, outside ambient temp and can't unlock/lock doors from inside buttons (key still works as well as door handle unlock / speed lock) can be hazardous in even mild temp as interior heats up quickly without air flow.

When key is in ignition and either In on position with engine off or In accessory state the dash starts to click and the hood then releases and opens Does not happen when key is not in the ignition and driver door is open or when car is running or when car is locked but does happen if key was just removed from ignition and door has not been opened yet There are not service lights on and all trunk buttons still work when pressed

On 9/5/2024, the driver (27/M) and lone occupant was found unresponsive in the vehicle which was observed rolling to a stop. The vehicle impacted a chain link fence at low speed and there was minimal damage to the vehicle. First responders commented: "extremely noxious odor, smelling like burnt eggs was detected.

The trunk pops open randomly. Noticed that the actuator clicks continuously until I press the door lock button on the fob.

This is second time my transmission was bad in a ford

The trunk randomly pops open at random times. From the vehicle to being parked or driving down the highway. Multiple mechanics as well as Ford have stated they are unable to locate any problems.

My trunk pops open by itself, without being activated. So far, if I keep my car locked, it will stay shut, but it has popped open while the vehicle was in motion. This is a safety hazard!

Electronic systems in my car just slowly stopped working

All the exterior lights went out. None of them will come on.

Recall notice 22S43 / NHTSA Recall 22 V413 Car rolls when in park with brake on. Now my car won’t start at all. I don’t know if they are related.

Recall on the shift cable caused my vehicle to completely stop working/ moving while I was out with my son. No notification was ever giving to me in regards to this problem. This has caused so many issues, specially not given a rental car to be able to to move around.

“Temporarily Lost communication with the Climate System” when this appears on the dash, AC won’t turn on, windows won’t roll up or down, defrost doesn’t work, nothing on the dash works except hazard lights, doors won’t lock, can’t adjust mirrors. Happens very sporadically, coincidentally when it starts to get hot (80° and above)

I’m not certain how or when but the hood sensor must be wrong because it always says the hood is open no matter how I close it

Trunk/deck lid pops open at random times. Weather conditions and time of day do not appear to be a factor as to why or when the trunk pops open. When it does happen the release mechanism clicks continuously for ~10 seconds or until you click the lock button on the fob.

Backup Camera hasn’t worked since the day I bought it and it had only 35,000 miles when I bought it.

While in motion the ABS light, traction on/off, and hill assist is not available is lit up. Also, the speedometer is sporadic. Haven't had any work done recently so that isn't the cause.

I have a new alternator, new battery, but the pcm unit for the fuses is bad.

Was driving down the road when my car starting driving strange, very rough. Then the climate control system was completely grayed out and a message popped up on my dash 'temporarily lost communication with climate system' while this error message is up, the windows won't go down or up, a/c or heat won't turn on, dash doesn't work at all, doors won't lock or unlock. When I went out to my parked car in the driveway this morning, all of my windows were down. At first, I had thought that someone had broken into my car, and I looked for broken glass, signs of forced entry, and my belongings to be strewn all over my car. However, there was none of the above.

Vehicle apim failed. This is considered to be the handsfree option for cell phone use, steering whell conttols, and cell blue tooth option.

Dash code appeared reading unable to communicate with climate control in turn rendering all touch screen applications and the ability to control any and all of the vehicles right side to function. ( windows, doors, locks, etc.) this happened while driving on city streets and highway

Within the past 4 months, as of today, april 08,2019, I have found all my windows down on my vehicle when parked. It has happened twice at work, once at home, and once at shopping mall. On today, april 08,2019 I entered work at 5:45am(light rain).

Receive error "temporarily lost communication with the climate system". Unable to operate the climate system, windows, door locks and radio volume. This occurs frequently and is a safety concern, especially in hot weather unable to operate windows or AC.

Takata recall. Sync system quits working, tries to restart but doesn't. Rear back-up camera is inoperable with this condition as well as any entertainment (radio, cd, sirius, etc.) & navigation.

While driving my car on a city street my husband was in the passenger seat, and my son was sitting in the back seat. My husband got warm, and pushed the automatic button to roll down his window. I instantly thought this was odd since I always keep the window's locked so that my son can not play with the windows.
