2016 Ford Explorer Cruise Control Problems

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at about 4:00 pm I proceeded to parallel park my vehicle and as I put my foot on the gas pedal the car took off uncontrollably at a very high speed, I tried to control the car but before I could stop it, I crashed and hit a tree. My vehicle was severely damaged. The vehicle was taken to the Dealer for inspection, and I was told there was nothing wrong.

When driving especially on freeway, the vehicle starts to stall and takes time to find the speed. It's come close to accidents as I've tried to get over in time when merging. Has happened so far more than 5 times.

While my explorer was in motion while driving home on a city street, the car seemed to slip gear and suddenly lost acceleration. Pushing the gas pedal did nothing and the car would only move forward up to 5 MPH. Using a pedal commander pc18 bluetooth "throttle enhancer" in an emergency vehicle equipped with a vhf mobile two-way radio. The radio transmits at 50w and is installed by a professional emergency vehicle upfitter per manufacturers instructions.

While driving @ 50mph on a multi lane road, engine immediately went to idle and the gas pedal was inoperative. Lost all power and vehicle came to a coasting stop. Fortunately there was an exit nearby and was able to get the vehicle off the main road.

Travelling at 70 MPH my vehicle's rpms dropped to 500 - 1000, the accelerator became unresponsive, and I was forced to pull over to the side of the road. In speaking with the mechanics at the ford dealership, the cause of the issue was a failure of the electronic throttle body (etb).

Driving down the road at 45 MPH when the engine RPM's dropped below 1,000 and I lost all throttle controls. I had to shift into n and coast into the median. Once stopped, I turned the vehicle off and on again but still had no throttle controls.

On my 2016 ford explorer, limited model, 3.5l ti-vct v6 engine, the throttle body caused my to pull over 3 times on 2 different freeways. Vehicle has been at a dealership for 3 weeks waiting for the back ordered part.

Sept 31st - with 358 miles and less than owned for 24 hours all adaptive equipment failed, flashing ABS failure loss of speed control. Oct 1st car taken to jclewis ford in savanah,ga, was called by the dealer approximately 3 hours later and was told to pick the car and the only problem was to realign and reset computer software.

Sudden deceleration due to P2112 code, electronic throttle body stuck closed.

Car jerked and then the wrench light came on. Could not accelerate over 5 MPH, has gas pedal to the floor, just over 7000 miles.

The vehicle was paused at gas station exit ready to enter the traffic. When I stepped on the gas pedal the vehicle started to move forward then immediately three lights (air bag, wrench, and motor) came on and the vehicle would not accelerate leaving me to simply "roll" on and maneuver to a side area off the main road.

Was driving my 2016 ford explorer xlt on a busy road and was going approximately 40 miles per hour when the vehicle suddenly went into what appeared to be "limp mode" and would barely move....my guess is about 2 MPH. It was very sudden and occurred without any type of warning. I was able to roll into someone's downhill driveway where the vehicle sat for several minutes.

Faulty throttle bottle. While cruising slightly under highway speeds the vehicle entered "limp mode" which prevents the maintaining of speeds creating a safety hazard. New throttle bodies are on "indefinite" back order which in my opinion correlates with a systemic, ongoing issue.
