Your car has experienced sudden jerking on the freeway three separate times (September 2025, January 2026, and March 2026), triggering the check engine light and causing the engine to enter reduced power mode. Each time, your car had to be towed to the dealership, and each time the fuel pump was replaced. Despite multiple replacements, the problem has recurred, suggesting the replacement parts may also be defective.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your car is sputtering and idling roughly while parked and while driving, sometimes shutting off completely with the check engine light on. The engine struggles to restart and feels like it may stall while you're driving. Your dealer has identified a faulty fuel pump as the cause, which requires replacement at a cost over $800. The fix will involve replacing the fuel pump assembly in your vehicle's fuel system.

Your 2024 Chevy Equinox entered limp mode (reduced power) on February 15, 2026, and triggered engine codes P228C and P0089. You experienced limp mode once before without a check engine light, and the vehicle lost acceleration while driving. The dealership indicated the repair may not be covered under warranty despite the vehicle having fewer than 60,000 miles. The underlying fuel system or fuel pressure issue will likely require diagnostic testing and component replacement or repair.

At 18,000 miles, your fuel pump has failed and needs to be replaced. Your car may have trouble starting, run rough, or lose power while driving. Replacing the fuel pump will require removing the fuel tank and installing a new pump assembly.

Your car's pedestrian safety warning sound (a recall fix) isn't working correctly. The audible alert should turn off at 18.6 mph, but it's staying on until 24 mph instead, which may not meet safety standards for your neighborhood. General Motors has confirmed this problem started after the recall service was completed.

Your windshield has excessive glare or reflections on sunny days, making it difficult to see through. This visibility issue could affect your ability to drive safely in bright sunlight. The fix may involve replacing the windshield or applying a specialized coating to reduce glare.

Your dashboard's materials create a strong reflection on the windshield that obscures your vision, especially in bright sunlight or on cloudy days. This reflection problem has caused two near-miss situations while driving. The issue appears to be caused by the dashboard material's reflective properties rather than direct sun in your eyes. Addressing this may require applying a non-reflective covering or replacement dashboard material.

Vehicle Speed Control, unknown Or Other1 issue

CrashFiled: Mar 2026

While braking, you heard a loud grinding noise from under your vehicle. Immediately after, your car suddenly accelerated on its own and wouldn't stop—the brakes didn't respond, shifting to park didn't work, and the emergency brake didn't help. You were forced to hit another vehicle to avoid pedestrians. The engine continued revving even after you turned off the car, which took several button presses to accomplish. When the body shop restarted the car, it revved loudly again on its own. This suggests a serious malfunction in the engine's throttle or speed control system that requires immediate inspection and repair by a qualified technician.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your 2024 Equinox shut off even though it wasn't in Park, and then rolled forward on its own and hit a tree. The radio stayed on after you turned off the engine, suggesting the car didn't fully power down. This could indicate a problem with how the car detects gear position, engages the transmission park lock, or controls the ignition system. A dealer will need to scan for fault codes, check for software updates, and inspect the transmission park engagement and shift control systems.

Filed: Nov 2025

Your car suddenly lost all power while driving through a busy intersection at 5 am with no warning lights or messages beforehand. The engine light came on after the failure, and the dealership identified a faulty fuel pump driver module as the cause. This unexpected loss of power in a dangerous location created a serious safety risk for you and other drivers.

criticalPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Nov 2025

Your 2024 Equinox shut down while parked with the engine running, and the check engine light came on. The dealership determined the Fuel Pump Power Control Module had failed and needed replacement; this failure also damaged your battery, which required a separate replacement. The dealership noted they've seen this same issue in multiple customers and mentioned GM has reportedly experienced this problem across 2019-2024 vehicles, with some owners reporting unexpected shutdowns while driving.

Tires1 issue
criticalTIRES
Filed: Oct 2025

While driving your 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, you experienced sudden violent vibrations followed by the vehicle sharply veering to the right and partially leaving the road, causing damage to the passenger-side front wheel and tire. The dealer repaired the vehicle, but the same problem happened again. The issue occurred at 82,045 miles with Continental CrossContact RX tires (size 275/40/R21), and the manufacturer has been notified to investigate the tire failure.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your Equinox is experiencing multiple electrical issues: the Intellibeam headlight system turns off while you're driving, the radio and lights stay on after you turn off the engine, and the crash detection system activates even when there's nothing ahead. Additionally, your dashboard display goes blank when starting the vehicle, and OnStar won't connect properly or turn off. These issues suggest problems with the electrical control modules and wiring that manage these systems.

Forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your car's automatic emergency braking (AEB) system is triggering too often without good reason — especially in heavy traffic, while reversing in rainy weather, or when backing out of parking spots where nothing is actually in your way. In one case, your car made a complete stop five times while backing out in light rain with no obstacles nearby. You feel this overly sensitive safety feature is making driving less safe rather than more safe. Chevy has released a software update to fix this for 2026 models, but your 2024 may need a similar software update or recalibration of the forward collision sensors.

Filed: Nov 2025

Your windshield wipers aren't clearing rain properly—they stop more than 4 inches from the edge of the window and pull water across the glass when driving, making it hard to see in heavy rain or at higher speeds. Your backup and forward-facing cameras also malfunction sporadically, working for a few weeks then failing for a day or two before returning. The fix will likely involve inspecting the wiper blade condition and alignment, and diagnosing the camera system for electrical or sensor issues.

Power Train1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Nov 2025

Your 2024 Equinox experienced a check engine light related to the torque converter, causing loss of power, stalling, inability to accelerate in traffic, gear slippage, and overheating. The dealership repaired it under your extended warranty, but you had to use a rental vehicle during the repair period. The torque converter failure created a safety concern, especially with passengers in the vehicle.

Your car's high pressure fuel pump may not be working properly. This component pressurizes fuel to send it to the engine, and if it fails, your car could have trouble starting or running smoothly. A mechanic will likely need to inspect or replace the fuel pump assembly.
