Your rear seat back started melting and smoking while your truck was parked, even though the outside temperature was only 64°F. You suspect sunlight reflecting through a bedroom window may have concentrated heat on the seat material, though you're unsure how standard window glass could cause this. The seat material appeared close to catching fire. Fixing this would likely involve inspecting the seat for heat damage and potentially replacing the affected seat back material or padding.

Your seat's protective plastic cover has cracked with less than 30,000 miles of light use. Toyota says this is a known issue and the replacement part is unavailable nationwide with no estimated restock date. The damaged plastic is sharp and cuts the seat fabric, and there's concern it could potentially damage the nearby airbag. Fixing this will require replacing the seat protective cover once the part becomes available.

Your truck's back seat is too cramped—there's only about 2.5 inches of space between the back of the front seats and the center console, making it impossible to safely fit three passengers or properly position a child. Your children's legs rub against the seats and console, which could result in crush injuries during an accident or sudden movement. You're also concerned about an unresolved gas line issue in the engine bay that could pose a fire hazard. Fixing this would likely require redesigning the seat back spacing and addressing any gas line routing or component issues.

Your driver's side front seat side shield panel has cracked repeatedly—four times in about a year—despite being replaced under warranty multiple times. The plastic panel appears to crack when entering or exiting the vehicle, and when broken, it prevents the seat from operating properly, creating a potential safety issue. Toyota may need to redesign this panel or investigate why it keeps failing prematurely.

Your truck has two serious issues: First, your driver's seat feels loose and rocks side to side when turning, making a loud clunking noise and feeling like it might tip over. Second, when it rains, water flows off the hood and gets sprayed directly onto your windshield by the radiator fan, blocking your view and creating a safety hazard. The seat may need to be remounted or have its bolts tightened, and the hood/grille design may need adjustment to redirect water away from the windshield.

Your driver's seat makes a loud squeaking noise when driving over bumps or when you shift your weight in the seat, starting around 35,000 miles. You've already paid to fix it once, but the squeak has returned. Reducing the lumbar support helps slightly, but makes the seat uncomfortable. The underlying issue appears to be related to how Toyota designed the 10-way power adjustable seat, and the seat structure may be cracked. A fix would likely involve replacing or repairing the seat frame and internal components to eliminate the noise and restore comfort.

Your driver's seat makes a loud squeaking noise when you drive over bumps or shift your weight in the seat, which started around 35,000 miles. You've already paid to have it fixed out of pocket, but the noise has returned. Lowering the lumbar support reduces the squeak but makes the seat uncomfortable. Fixing this will likely require a dealer inspection and replacement or adjustment of seat components, possibly including the lumbar support mechanism or seat frame hardware.

Your driver's seat makes a loud squeaking noise whenever you drive over bumps or shift your position in the seat, which started around 35,000 miles. You've already paid to have it fixed, but the squeaking returned. Lowering the lumbar support reduces the noise but makes the seat less comfortable. The issue appears to stem from how Toyota designed the 10-way power adjustable seat mechanism, and fixing it may require lubricating or adjusting the seat's internal components or replacing worn seat frame parts.

Driver's Seat appears to have some play in it where when accelerating or coming to a stop, the seat bottom will move forward and/or backwards. This has continued to happen and after repeated attempts to have the dealer resolve it, they have basically told me it was designed that way. We've never had another Toyota product do this.
