Body & Structure Recalls (1)

RECALLCampaign #23V142000

STRUCTURE:BODY

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles that may be equipped with a Toyota genuine accessory tonneau cover. The tonneau cover attachment joints may come loose and allow the cover to detach.

Fix: Owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. Dealer will install new hardware (bolts, spacers, washers, nuts, rubber washers and cotter pins) to the existing bracket and tonneau cover. If the tonneau cover has tears or splits at the mounting holes to the extent that new hardware cannot be installed, it will be replaced with a new tonneau cover and hardware. Owners will receive a notice once the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 23TB03/23TA03.

Your rear bumper detached while your truck was parked. Even though your truck was involved in a previous recall related to this issue, the dealer initially couldn't repair it due to parts being on backorder. After another dealer eventually replaced the bumper, the same problem happened again shortly after. The dealer has not been able to repair it a second time.

The skid plate that covers your gas tank has broken at the same mounting point three times since you bought the truck in 2022, even though there's no visible sign of impact damage. When the mount breaks, the skid plate drags on the road and can kick up debris that may hit windshields of vehicles behind you. The manufacturer has dismissed the issue as external damage rather than addressing what appears to be a design problem. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the skid plate and reinforcing or redesigning the mounting brackets.

Your 2022 Tundra is experiencing multiple issues: the seat panels are falling apart, the front bumper is coming loose, doors are rattling, the windshield has distortion affecting visibility, and the windshield molding is coming detached. Additionally, your tires are losing air pressure, the radio keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth, and Toyota is refusing to repair these items under warranty, stating the truck still operates normally. Fixing these issues would likely involve reattaching or replacing the seat panels, bumper, door components, windshield, molding, addressing tire pressure concerns (possible leak detection and repair), and diagnosing the Bluetooth connectivity issue.

Your tonneau cover detached and blew off your truck while driving at 65 MPH on the highway. You didn't receive any warning before this happened, and you only discovered the cover was missing when you reached your destination. Toyota issued a recall (Campaign 23V142000) for this issue, but the repair parts weren't available at the time, and the cover hasn't been replaced or recovered.

Your passenger side door mirror's camera detached and flew off while you were driving 75 mph on the interstate. This created a safety hazard for vehicles behind you, as the camera could have struck their windshield. The fix will likely involve replacing the door mirror assembly or the camera module itself.

Your truck makes a random rattling noise when you're stopped at a red light or in traffic with the engine idling, the transmission in gear, and your foot on the brake. Multiple other owners have reported the same issue. The rattle appears to be coming from the vehicle's structure rather than the engine itself.

Your truck's bed cover was subject to a recall, and the Toyota dealer removed and destroyed it without providing a replacement. When you later purchased a new truck from a different dealer, the original dealer refused to install a replacement bed cover, citing that you hadn't purchased the new vehicle from them. You're frustrated that the recalled part was destroyed without compensation or a replacement offered.

Your truck's navigation feature stopped working after one year of ownership, and Toyota now requires a $15 monthly subscription to restore map display and remote start capabilities. You feel unsafe driving in unfamiliar areas without navigation guidance. Restoring this functionality will likely involve subscribing to Toyota's connected services or updating your vehicle's infotainment system software.
