SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
Tenneco Automotive (DRiV) is recalling certain aftermarket ball joints for 2004-2007 Toyota Sequoia and 2004-2006 Toyota Tundra vehicles, MOOG part number K80521, K80522, NAPA part number NCP2601633, NCP2601634, ACDelco part number 45D2344, and 45D2345. The ball joint housing may have inadequate hardness, causing premature failure.
Fix: DRiV will work with distributors to return unsold parts. Dealers will inspect and replace the ball joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 17, 2022. Owners may contact DRiV customer service at 1-877-489-6659 or at RECALL.SUPPORT@DRIV.COM.
SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND MINI VANS, DUE TO POSSIBLE IMPROPER FINISHING OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT, SOME BALL JOINTS MAY EXPERIENCE AN INCIDENTAL DETERIORATION OF THE INTERNAL LUBRICATION. THIS MAY CAUSE THE BALL JOINT TO WEAR AND LOOSEN PREMATURELY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN INCREASED STEERING EFFORT, REDUCED VEHICLE SELF-CENTERING, AND NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 28, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

Truck won’t pass inspection frame is rusted out like so many other 2006 Tundras. Some web searches showed this year was covered on recalls. In 2015 had a recall for corrosion on frame .. you mean RUST! However those don’t show up as recalls.. WHY? How do all of us affected do another class action law suit? Truck has 147,239 miles way too young to be no good! Can’t afford another car! Hey TOYOTA GIVE US KELLY BLUE BOOK AROUND 7000 or fix the frame! Any lawyers or news contact me! My Toyota Tundra has extensive rust damage due to rust and it’s sway at has come completely disconnected from frame. Also there are at least other significant rust issues with the frame that make this truck unsafe.
My 2006 Toyota has holes rusted through the frame in more than one location
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and making a left turn, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the front driver’s side of the vehicle lowered unintendedly. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front driver’s side lower ball joint had separated from the knuckle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 07V013000 (Suspension). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.
I Was not notified That there was a recall for the frame rusting. My frame is rusted out and now I’m told that the recall has expired. This is unacceptable and poses a threat to the lives of Me, my family and all Toyota drivers everywhere.
My vehicle was subject to a frame corrosion Limited Service Campaign. I brought the vehicle in for inspection and was advised there we 2 options: Frame replacement or Corrosion-Resistant Compound treatment. The dealership advised the vehicle did not qualify for frame replacement, and opted to apply CRC. The CRC application was performed June 11, 2014. I have documentation. I was recently advised by my mechanic that the gas tank straps are failing, and they cannot replace them due to corroded frame. The cross member requires total replacement due to extensive frame rotting. I believe that if Toyota had done the responsible thing as part of the recall, and replaced the frame instead of applying CRC, this issue would not occur today. I would respectfully like to request the NHTSA look into this matter.
Purchased used 2006 Toyota Tundra in May 2021. Upon bringing vehicle to Toyota dealer for inspection mechanic informed me that the frame had rust perforations and was unsafe to drive. The condition was not fixed due to exorbitant cost and I was not able to pass inspection.
Purchased this vehicle last year was told and confirmed the frame was sprayed..this year holes and rot...Toyota is NOT backing a limited time warranty/recall..I was told that if many complain this agency may be able to do something for the consumer /taxpayer....
My front stabilizer bar broke off from the frame the frame is rusting through in several places. I found this when my power steering started making noise and I was losing fluids took it to mechanic and a line on my rack and pinion had started leaking could not get just the line had to buy the whole rack and pinion when he was replacing it he found the stabilizer bar had broke loose from the frame the mechanic said I needed to get in touch with Toyota for a fix
9/28 Took vehicle into shop to get wheel alignment done, but was told frame was too rusty and to call Toyota because they had a frame recall. 10/15 gas tank strap & bolt rusted off, gas tank is hanging low. 11/19 bolts are coming through truckbed. 12/13 called Toyota about frame rust and the frame rust warranty being extended to 15 years.
Frame has rotted out before rear wheels and cross support for gas tank. Toyota did a recall on it in 2014 but the fix didn't last 7 years and now this vehicle could break in half or loose its gas tank creating a danger to driver and / or others. The vehicle is in great shape and low mileage and is nowhere near end of life otherwise. Toyota is offering no support at this time claiming they fixed the problem in 2014.
Heard some noise coming from the front left side of the truck. I parked it, took a look and noticed that the entire frame is completely rusted out with the front left wheel area with the most rust. The frame itself may break apart at any moment.
The truck had a frame recall and the frame was sprayed in accordance with the recall in 2014. The frame continued to rust badly and the welded bracket for the sway bar broke free of the frame while driving.

I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra that is in perfect condition mechanical and body no rust, recently found out about frame that has a hole in it on the right front it has been confirmed by dealership that it cannot be driven. In 2015 I took truck in for the recall for the frame obviously something was not done properly. After doing some research I'm finding out Toyota has been having problems with frames from about 2000-2009. The main issue here is if we did not notice this problem and someone is driving the vehicle and frame breaks and someone gets hurt who is responsible
In 2014 Toyota had a recall on the frame rusting issue. I had Toyota of Hanover Pa review the truck frame and they said it didn't meet the requirement for a frame replacement and they applied under coating. Now in 2021 the frame is starting to show signs of rust along the main frame beside the fuel tank when I had the vehicle in for inspection. I was a little confused sense it was undercoated but then reading more about the undercoating it may have made it worse by holding the moisture in and making it rust. I contacted Toyota to see if they would replace and or help me with the cost in replacing the frame since the truck is in excellent shape with 114k. And there response was NO the recall has expired and we can not do nothing. I priced a frame replacement and its over 11k. Also, reading a lot of other Toyota Tundra complaints about the undercoating and not installing a new frame around the same time period and everyone feeling the coating was going to last as long as the truck. I would appreciate any help on your end with this issue. The chassis is rusted and the tires started leaning out because they are no longer supported fully. The vehicle is unsafe to drive now because of tire issues, and control. Insurance and or police will not look at because no accident occurred yet. I just notified Toyota who said the recall on models such as this had ended in 2015. The used car dealer my son just purchased from 5 months ago has denied any knowledge of the problem.
Passenger side front Ball joint failed when driving on interstate. Oil change and service was last done 2/24/21 mileage was 192943. I also sent all the information to Toyota.
MY 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS JUST SERVICED AT REPUTABLE MECHANIC AND ALERTED ME TO THE RUST HOLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING BRACKET. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRAME IS SEPARATING FROM THE TRUCK DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE RUST. THE FRAME IS DEFOLIATING IN SHEETS OF RUST, VERY SIMILAR TO THE CONSISTENCY OF SHALE. CONTACTED CORPORATE TOYOTA IMMEDIATELY. CASE WAS PUSHED TO A SENIOR MANAGER AND FINALLY RECEIVED A RETURN CALL 13 DAYS LATER. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD WARRANT A FRAME REPLACEMENT BASED ON THE AGE OF MY VEHICLE, THE MILEAGE (248,000) MILES, AND NO CURRENT RECALLS. I FIND THIS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. TOYOTA IS A COMPANY I THOUGHT WAS BASED ON 'PERFORMANCE, RELIABILITY, AND SAFETY', BUT I GUESS IT'S NOT. I RECEIVED THE CAMPAIGN TO BATTLE THE RUSTY FRAMES BACK IN 2014 AND WAS PROACTIVE AND COMPLETED THAT AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER PERFORMED THE UNDERCOATING WHICH DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT COVER THE RUST AND INCREASE THE BREAKDOWN OF THE FRAME. SINCE THEN, I HAD DRIVEN MY TRUCK TO AND FROM WORK AND RELIED ON IT TO SAFELY TRANSPORT MY FAMILY EVERYWHERE, BUT NOT ANY LONGER. I FIND THIS TO BE COMICALLY IRRESPONSIBLE FOR TOYOTA TO TURN A BLIND EYE. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER 2006 TUNDRAS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES, HOWEVER THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ONLY LISTS 2007-2008 TUNDRAS THAT COULD WARRANT FRAME REPLACEMENT. HOWEVER, A COWORKER JUST TOOK HIS 2005 TUNDRA IN FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL, AND THEY DISCOVERED THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT HAS OVER 200,000 MILES SIMILAR TO MINE AND IS GETTING A NEW FRAME??? CORPORATE TOYOTA WOULDN'T COMMENT ON THAT. I'M AT A LOSS AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TOYOTA EXPECTS ANYONE TO JUST WALK AWAY AND DO NOTHING. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WILL OCCUR AGAIN FOR THE 2006 TUNDRAS. AUTONATION TOYOTA WOULD NOT INSTALL REAR TOW HITCH DUE TO SEVERITY OF FRAME RUST. CAUTIONING THAT ANY SORT OF IMPACT WOULD TOTAL THE VEHICLE. AFTER READING SEVERAL REVIEWS STATING VERY SIMILAR RUST PROBLEMS I HAVE STARTED AN ONLINE PETITION AGAINST TOYOTA. EVEN IF THE FRAME IS REPLACED THE RUST HAS AFFECTED MANY COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. ON JANUARY 10 2020 MY 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA BROKE DOWN. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IT WAS AROUND 4:45PM WHEN I HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM MY DRIVERS BACK TIRE, I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED OUT UNDERNEATH AND MY TIRES DID NOT SEE ANYTHING GOT BACK IN VEHICLE AND BACKED IT UP TO A SIDE STREET IT MADE THE CLUNKING NOISE. I CALLED MY HUSBAND HE CAME OUT AND CHECKED THE TRUCK OUT TOO COULDN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. SO WE HAD IT TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ( WE HAVE TOWING SERVICE PLUS WE BOUGHT A EXTENDED WARRANTY) SINCE IT WAS PASS 5 PM THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T LOOK AT THE TRUCK TILL THE NEXT DAY. WHEN THEY GAVE ME A CALL THEY TOLD ME THAT MY SWAY BAR BROKE AND THE CLUNKING NOISE WAS MY BRAKE DRUM AND PAD IT WAS SO RUSTED IT BUSTED IN PIECES. HE ALSO SAID THATS NOT THE REAL CONCERN & ISSUE HE TOLD ME THAT MY WHOLE FRAME WAS VERY RUSTED & CORROSION HE STATED THAT MY TRUCK WAS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER WORK I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS IN COMPLETE SHOCK THE FRAME WAS SO BAD SOME PARTS OF IT YOU COULD PUT YOUR FINGER RIGHT THROUGH IT. LATER WE DID SOME RESEARCH AND READ ABOUT TOYOTA TUNDRA RECALL ON FRAMES. WE ALSO WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD THE TRUCK TO US. THEY WERE NO HELP. WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP. I'M THE MAIN DRIVER AND I LOVE THIS TRUCK PAID GOOD MONEY AND STILL PAYING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS TRUCK MISSED THE RECALL IN THE PASS. THE TRUCK IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE BODY AND INTERIOR. IT ONLY HAD 91,000 WHEN WE BOUGHT IT. DO WE FALL UNDER THE RECALL? PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO DO. THANK YOU.
THE VEHICLE'S FRAME CORRODADED SO BADLY WITH HOLES EVERYWHERE. THE SUSPENSSIONS AND TIRE MOUNTS CAME OFF DANGLING AWAY FROM THE FRAME. THE CROSSBARS ARE SO BROKEN THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BUCKLE UP IN MOTION. THE ISSUES WERE DISCOVERED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFETY INSPECTION STATION.

THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE FRAME A FEW YEARS AGO, I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AT THE TIME , THEY INSPECTED IT AND SAID THE FRAME WAS FINE, THEY CLEANED IT AND PERFORMED AN UNDERCOATING. I RECENTLY WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR AN ALIGNMENT, THE ALIGNMENT WOULD NOT HOLD AND THEY BROKE A BRAKE LINE. WHEN THE DEALER WENT TO PRICE OUT THE BRAKE LINE THEY DISCOVERED THE FRAME WAS ALL ROTTED OUT AND WOULD NOT REPAIR THE LINE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO PUT ON A LIFT DO TO THE FRAME ROT. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE RECALL ON THE FRAME HAD EXPIRED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. THE DEALER PROVIDED THE 800 NUMBER FOR TOYOTA, I CALLED THEM AND RECEIVED THE SAME INFO, THE TIME PERIOD FOR THE FRAME RECALL EXPIRED. I DID WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO IN THE TIME FRAME, I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN AND TOLD THE FRAME WAS FINE. ALL THE UNDERCOATING THEY DID ONLY MASKED THE ISSUE . THE FRAME IS NOW ALL ROTTED ONLY A FEW YEARS LATER AND TOYOTA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX IT. HOW DOES A FRAME GO FROM BEING INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND TOLD IT IS FINE TO A POINT WHERE THE DEALER WILL NOT PUT IT ON A LIFT BECAUSE OF THE ROT IN JUST A FEW YEARS? THE DEALER PROVIDED THE PICTURES OF THE ROT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD STARTED TO WEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, AFTER COMPLETING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED NOR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED IN, AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V013000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THE FRAMES ON TUNDRAS RUSTING. MY WAS NOT REPLACED, IT WAS JUST UNDERCOATED. THE FRAME IS RUSTING UNDER THE COATING AND THE COATING IS FALLING OFF. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ALSO CALLED TOYOTA. BOTH WOULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THE FRAME FAILED BUT TOLD ME TO CALL TOYOTA, WITCH I DID. TOYOTA TOLD ME THE TIME HAD RUN OUT ON THAT RECALL. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY AND SHOULD HAVE HAD A FRAME REPLACMENT.
FRONT BALL JOINT BROKE IN HALF WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT
WE HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED IN JUNE 2019 AFTER JUST DOING NEW BREAK LINES WHICH RUSTED, WE HAD ALSO JUST PUT NEW TIRES ON IT. TRUCK PASSED INSPECTION JUNE 2019. TRUCK DEVELOPED POWER STEERING LEAK IN JULY. WHILE LOOKING INTO THE LEAK WE NOTICED THE FRAME RUSTED AND THE ANTI SWAY BAR IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OFF THE FRAME. CAN NOT TRADE THIS IN OR SELL IT NOW. MILEAGE 124K.
RUSTED FRAME WITH HOLE HAS BEEN DEEMED BY PORTSMOUTH TOYOTA AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO MEINKE INITIALLY BECAUSE IT FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE
SEVERELY RUSTED FRAME AND BRAKE CALBERS. THE BRAKE LINES BROKE AND I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE THE TRUCK SO I PUT IN NEUTRAL AND GRADNUALLY CAME TO A STOP INA PARKING LOT WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MECHANIC TOLD ME HE HAS HAD THIS WITH OTHER TUNDRAS. I CHECKED WITH TOYOTA FOR A RECALL BUT WAS INFORMED THERE WASN'T ONE .
DRIVING HOME AT THE END OF OUR VACATION, MY WIFE AND I WERE IN SEPERATE VEHICLES, SHE IN FRONT OF ME ON I-80 GOING WEST BOUND. WE'D JUST GOTTEN OFF THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE AND AS TRAFFIC WAS BUILDING AND SLOWING, SHE BRAKED AHEAD OF ME AND WHEN I PRESSED MY BRAKE IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I COULDN'T STOP IN TIME BEFORE REAR ENDING THE CAR MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. IT WAS A LOW SPEED IMPACT, MAYBE 25 MPH. NO POLICE REPORT AND WE JUST KEPT DRIVING AFTER CHECKING THAT ALL WAS OK. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE SHOP TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPAIRED AND THE MECHANIC CALLED ME TO SAY THE BRAKE LINES AND EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE STATED HE CANNOT DO THE WORK DUE TO THE FACT THE TRUCK IS RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR AND HE FELT UNSAFE TO WORK UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK FOR FEAR OF IT FALLING ON HIM. I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRUCK FOR RUSTED FRAME ISSUES AND THE WINDOW TO RESPOND WAS MISSED DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS INVOLVING CARE OF A SINCE DECEASED MOTHER. I TRIED TO TALK TO TOYOTA BUT THE SHORT ANSWER IS I WAS TOO LATE EVEN THOUGH THE RUSTED FRAME IS ONLY WORSENING WITH TIME DUE TO FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW WITH THE METHOD THESE TRUCKS WERE PRODUCED.
FIRST COMPLAINT WAS IN MOTION CAME TO A SIGNAL LIGHT STARTED APPLYING BRAKES TO STOP CAME TO STOP BRIEFLY AS I WAS PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL COULD FEEL GRINDING LIKE UNDER PEDAL AND TRUCK BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD WHILE HOLDING BRAKE THEN CONTINUED TO PUMP BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY AND STOP IT BECAUSE IT WAS MOVING ME AND MY CHILDREN INTO MOVING TRAFFIC INTERSECTION.. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED ON A FEW OCCASTIONS SECOND COMPLAINT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD RECALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PART BECAUSE OF THE CATASTROPHIC NATURE OF THE FAILURE. NONETHELESS THE FRAME HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE THE SWAY BAR MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH. WHILE TOYOTA INITIATED A "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" THIS IS NOT A FULL RECALL. I LEARNED OF THIS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE 26 DAYS AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE CAMPAIGN ON JULY 31, 2015. AS THIS IS NOT A RECALL, CUSTOMERS SUCH AS MYSELF HAVE NO RECOURSE. THE FRONT STRUTS RUSTED AND SNAPPED, ON BOTH MY 2002 TUNDRA AND MY 2006 TUNDRA, IN THE SAME PLACE ON ALL 4 STRUTS, WHERE THE TUBE MOUNTS TO THE BOTTOM BOLT FLANGE. IN BOTH CASES, THERE WAS NOT ANY EXCESSIVE OR OFF ROAD DRIVING, JUST NORMAL HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. THE LAST TIME, I WAS DRIVING OVER A RAILROAD CROSSING. *TR
THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF RUST ON THEM. FLAKES OF METAL ARE DROPPING/PEALING OFF AND THE RUST HAS SPREAD TO ALL PARTS OF THE FRAME AND IS PREVALENT AROUND WELDS ON THE SUSPENSION PARTS. THIS CONCERNS ME DUE TO THE WELDS BEING THE MAIN COMPONENT THAT BONDS TOGETHER THE SUSPENSION PIECES. THE FRAME IS SHOWING AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF RUST FOR SUCH A YOUNG VEHICLE AND POSES A SAFETY RISK TO ME. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA CREW CAB. THE REAR LEAF SPRING BROKE AND FELL OFF WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE RPMS INCREASED OCCASIONALLY AND HE HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM LUNGING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS REFUSED REPAIRS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HE WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE DEALER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN TRUCK SUDDENLY LISTED HEAVILY TO THE LEFT, THE CONTROL ARM AND LOWER BALL JOINT HAD FAILED AND THE TIRE WAS ON THE GROUND, WHEN TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT PARTICULAR RECALL DUE TO THE VIN NUMBER. HE CONTACTED HIS LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE BACKED UP AND ADVISED HIM TO CALL BACK IN THREE TO FIVE WEEKS. THE CONTACT HEEDED THE ADVICE AND CALLED BACK FIVE WEEKS LATER. TOYOTA FAILED TO INFORM US ABOUT RECALL SSC 70B OUR 2006 TUNDRA. I READ ABOUT THE RECALL IN A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE. WHEN I FIRST CALLED TOYOTA IN FEBRUARY 2007 THEY PROMISED TO MAIL ME A NOTICE. IT NEVER ARRIVED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A BRIDGESTONE TIRE DEALER BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WEAR ON OUTSIDE EDGE OF BOTH FRONT TIRES. THE VEHICLE CAME NEW WITH BRIDGESTONE TIRES. THE BRIDGESTONE TIRE DEALER TOLD US THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY REPLACED BECAUSE THE OUTSIDE EDGES WERE WORN TO THE SUBSTRATE. WE WERE SURPRISED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 7,350 MILES ON IT. THE BRIDGESTONE TIRE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT WE TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER AND HAVE THEM INSPECT THE FRONT-END ALIGNMENT. THE TOYOTA DEALER AGREED TO DO SO AND INFORMED US THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK ASSOCIATED WITH SSC 70B AND THAT AS PART OF THAT PROCEDURE, THE FRONT-END ALIGNMENT WOULD BE CHECKED BEFORE AND AFTER THE RECALL WORK. AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED THE ALIGNMENT REPORT CLEARLY SHOWED THAT THE FRONT WHEELS HAD THE INCORRECT "TOE" ADJUSTMENT ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS. WE HAVE RETAINED COPIES OF THAT REPORT. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT SUGGESTED THAT WE CONTACT THE SERVICE MANAGER TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD PROVIDE SOME SORT OF DISCOUNT ON THE COST TO REPLACE BOTH TIRES. TODAY WE CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY AS WE BELIEVE ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING CONTRIBUTED TO THE PREMATURE DESTRUCTION OF BOTH FRONT TIRES. 1. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE TOYOTA FACTORY WITH THE FRONT-END OUT OF ALIGNMENT. 2. EXCESSIVE WEAR OF BOTH FRONT TIRES WAS CAUSED BY THE IMPROPER "TOE" ADJUSTMENT WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN AN ARTIFACT OF THE RECALL WORK THAT REQUIRED REPLACING THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS. HAD TOYOTA NOTIFIED ME IN A TIMELY MANNER, I WOULD HAVE HAD THIS RECALL WORK COMPLETED AND POSSIBLY SAVED THE FRONT TIRES FROM PREMATURE DESTRUCTION. SO FAR, TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE TWO NEW FRONT TIRES. *TR

2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA - BALL JOINT FAILURE CAUSING BALL JOINT TO BREAK AND WHEEL TO COME OFF. THIS ALSO DAMAGES THE FENDER ON WHICH EVER SIDE THE BALL JOINT BREAKS. TOYOTA ADDED MORE BOLTS AND PIECES TO THE BALL JOINT BUT IT DIDN'T MAKE THE JOINT STRONGER AND COULD HAPPEN QUIET FREQUENTLY UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED BY TOYOTA. IT STARTS WITH THE STEERING BECOMING HARD TO HANDLE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR WHEEL FALLS OFF. THANKFULLY WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NOT GOING VERY FAST. *JB
