CERTAIN CARDONE MASTER CYLINDERS WITH PART NUMBERS 10-2925, 10-2987, 10-2987MZA, 10-3083, 11-3015, 11-3042, 11-3044, 11-3045, 11-3047, 11-3064, AND 11-3156, AND WITH DATE CODES LOWER THAN DCA7078 SOLD AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE SEAL ON MASTER CYLINDER CAN FAIL AND LEAK BRAKE FLUID.

Fix: CARDONE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER TO REPURCHASE ANY DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDERS. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING APRIL 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT CARDONE AT 1-800-777-4780.

Your brakes failed to respond when you pressed the pedal at 25 MPH, forcing you to swerve into another lane to avoid a crash. The brake warning light came on, and a mechanic found that a brake line had ruptured, causing all the brake fluid to leak out and emptying the master cylinder reservoir. The mechanic replaced the brake line and refilled the system to restore braking.

Your truck's brake system has serious structural problems. The sub-frame under your vehicle is severely corroded and could potentially collapse if you keep driving it. You've also noticed that when you press the brake pedal, your truck doesn't respond right away, even though no warning light came on. The mechanic may need to replace corroded frame components and inspect the entire brake hydraulic system to restore safe braking and structural integrity.

TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING SYSTEM. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN LEAVING A STORE PARKING LOT. WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE BY USING EMERGENCY BRAKE. NOTICED A RUPTURED SOLID BRAKE LINE UNDER DRIVERS SIDE RUNNING TOWARDS REAR OF VEHICLE. ALL BRAKE FLUID WAS GONE FROM MASTER CYLINDER WHEN CHECKED. ALSO NOTED A LOT OF CORROSION ON FRAME, BRAKE LINES, AND OTHER PARTS OF UNDERCARRIAGE. FRAME WAS PREVIOUSLY COATED AS PART OF RECALL SEVERAL YEARS AGO. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN WINSTON-SALEM, NC. HAD TO HAVE TWO SOLID BRAKE LINES REPLACED ALONG WITH REAR BRAKE SHOES AND DRUMS. COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED IF THIS HAPPENED AT SPEED OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, A TRACTOR TRAILER ENTERED THE CONTACT'S LANE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THE FAILURE AS A COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKE FUNCTION. IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID A CRASH, THE VEHICLE WAS DOWNSHIFTED TO THIRD GEAR AND THEN SECOND GEAR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE TO TOYOTA KNOXVILLE (10415 PARKSIDE DRIVE, KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE 37922, (865) 312-6618) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES FAILED. THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE LINES WERE REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL TANK BRACKET WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 1808302087. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000.

BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. BRAKES HAD WORKED FINE WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ON DASH, NO INDICATION THAT BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY (TOYOTA PART NUMBER 470500C03) HAD FAILED OR WAS FAILING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND SHOWED DIAGNOSTIC CODES C0200,215 AND 1223. DEALER CONFIRMED NO WARNING LIGHTS TO INDICATE THIS CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. UNDER DIFFERENT TRAFFIC OR DRIVING CONDITIONS, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS OR FATAL EVENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED ONLY BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW, AT EVERY RECOMMENDED INTERVAL, AND NEVER MISSED ANY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT IT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND I ALSO NEEDED NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. TOYOTA HAS A RECALL FOR CERTAIN 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA MASTER CYLINDERS LEAKING HOWEVER WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR REIMBURSEMENT THEY SAID THAT MY PARTICULAR 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND REPEATEDLY ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHENEVER THE TEMPERATURE WAS COLD AND THE ROAD SURFACE WAS WET, ENGAGING THE BRAKES RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE SPINNING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER STATED THAT A VEHICLE WITHOUT AN ENGINE BRAKE SHUT OFF SWITCH WAS UNSAFE IN THE WINTER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE BRAKE OR SUPPLY A SHUT OFF SWITCH DUE TO THE LABOR. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

I HAD BORROWED MY IN-LAWS TOYOTA TUNDRA WHILE ON VACATION. I HAD PREVIOUSLY TRAVELED DOWN A STREET TO AN INTERSECTION TO GO TO A BANK WHILE MY WIFE WAS VISITING FRIEND WITH NO ISSUES. CAME BACK 1/2 HOUR LATER THROUGH SAME INTERSECTION, AND THE I HIT THE BRAKE TO STOP FOR THE STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE KEPT PROPELLING FORWARD. WHILE I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE KEPT BEING PROPELLED INTO THE INTERSECTION, WHERE I RAN INTO AN ARMORED VAN. I WAS TICKETED FOR FAILURE TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. THERE WERE 3 PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE, MY WIFE, SON, AND MYSELF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. THE LAST TIME HE HIT A DEER AND DAMAGED HIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HE FINALLY CONTACTED THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT IS THE WAY THE BRAKES SHOULD BE OPERATING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT ACTIVATING AUTOMATICALLY TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF OF THE FRONT BRAKES. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THEY COULD ONLY ADJUST THE REAR BRAKING SYSTEM MANUALLY. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR ADJUSTING THE REAR BRAKES WAS $70.00. HE WILL CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 35,000.

MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA ACCESS CAB ON 11/25/06 AT TOYOTA OF FORT WORTH TEXAS . LESS THAN 6 DAYS LATER, WE WERE DRIVING HOME ON A STREET THAT LEADS TO OUR HOUSE,LESS THAN A MILE, WE HAVE BEEN TRAVELING THIS ROAD FOR AT LEAST 15 YEARS. IT WAS SLIGHTLY RAINING, WE APPROACHED THE CURVE TO THE LEFT ON THIS ROAD. MADE THE CURVE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHEELS BROKE LOOSE, MY HUSBAND TRIED TO CORRECT BUT THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THEN TURNED COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS AND CRASHED INTO TWO TREES THAT WERE LESS THAN 5 FEET FROM THE ROAD. LTR FROM (TX) REPORTING PROBLEMS WITH HIS 2006 TUNDRA MOTOR VEHICLE. *TS THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS A PROBLEM DOWN SHIFTING 2 GEARS ON MINOR GRADE FOR NO REASON, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO REV TO OVER 4000 RPMS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE BRAKE WILL FADE WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE STOPPING DISTANCE ON THE VEHICLE WAS MUCH LONGER THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE THE CONSUMER HAD DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS GETTING VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE. THERE WAS AN ODOR FROM THE AIR CONDITION. THE TIRE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED, BUT IT WAS RESOLVED.
