NHTSA Campaign: 23V432000
Component: WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The lug nuts that attach the wheels to the vehicle may be loose, which can result in wheel detachment.
Risk: A wheel that detaches from a moving vehicle can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and tighten the lug nuts, and replace any damaged components, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on or before August 14, 2023. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 23TA05.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V128000
Component: SEATS
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
Risk: A head restraint bracket that is insufficiently welded may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will replace the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB04 and 24TA04.

Your car sometimes won't respond when you press the gas pedal after coming to a complete stop. When this happens, the engine doesn't seem to receive any signal to move forward, even though there are no warning lights on your dashboard. The problem occurs intermittently and hasn't been reproduced at the dealership yet, though it's happened 8 times. The issue may involve the throttle control system or engine management computer needing diagnosis and potential reprogramming.

Your car's paint is chipping very easily from minor impacts like insects hitting it. The dealership found that the clearcoat wasn't applied during manufacturing, which is why the paint is so fragile. This damage likely occurred when the dealership dropped your vehicle off a lift during an oil change when the car was brand new. The fix will require the damaged areas to be repainted with proper clearcoat application.

There is a defect on my front panoramic sunroof panel. The glass is too thin and the stress and tension caused the glass to break and shatter. No object struck the sunroof.

Electrical System →3 issues
Your 2023 Camry's infotainment system has failed and shows the same symptoms as an active Toyota recall, but your vehicle's VIN isn't included in that recall even though the dealership confirmed the defect exists. Toyota is only covering 50% of the repair cost (about $1,139), leaving you responsible for the other half of a $2,278 replacement infotainment system. The malfunction affects controls accessed through the infotainment screen, which could distract you while driving. Fixing this will require replacing the entire infotainment system unit.

After getting an oil service, your front camera safety features stopped working properly — it wouldn't display warnings or alerts when you were driving with cruise control on. You also noticed several unfamiliar warning lights on your dashboard. A Toyota dealer diagnosed the issue and determined your front camera needs to be replaced. This happened at around 40,000 miles.

Forward Collision Avoidance →2 issues
Your car's safety systems—including forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and anti-lock brakes—stopped working and displayed warning messages. The dealer says your battery isn't providing enough power to keep these safety features active, which means your car can't warn you of collisions or help prevent crashes. This is a significant safety issue that needs to be resolved, likely requiring a battery replacement or electrical system inspection.

Your forward collision avoidance system displays a dashboard warning that says the front camera is out of temperature range, which causes the crash warning light to stay on. The light typically turns off after you drive for about 30 minutes. Your dealer couldn't identify the issue when you showed them a picture. The fix may involve inspecting the front camera sensor, checking its electrical connections, or recalibrating the collision avoidance system.

Service Brakes →2 issues
Your parking brake is engaging on its own while you're driving, which can affect your car's performance. Additionally, when you put the car in park, it's making a squealing noise instead of its normal sound. These issues suggest a problem with the parking brake system that needs diagnostic attention.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your car was hit from behind at high speed (around 80 MPH) while you and your two children were in it, but the airbags did not deploy even though the impact was significant enough to damage the rear passenger tire and cause you to seek medical attention for injuries. You should have the airbag system inspected by a Toyota dealer to determine why the safety system didn't activate during this collision. The repair will likely involve a diagnostic scan of the airbag control module and potentially replacement of airbag components or sensors.

Electrical System,service Brakes,back Over Prevention →1 issue
Your electronic parking brake (EPB) got stuck and wouldn't release, requiring a tow to the dealer. Even after replacing the EPB switch, the problem persisted and triggered a "PARK BRAKE MALFUNCTION" error code that disabled your parking brake and multiple safety features like ABS, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and collision prevention. Your vehicle needs diagnostic service to identify the underlying electrical or control module issue causing the EPB failure.

Power Train,engine →1 issue
Your 2023 Camry is hesitating and shuddering while driving at various speeds, and your check engine light is on. A dealer diagnosed a transmission fault caused by a faulty valve body and pressure solenoid, requiring transmission replacement. The fix will likely involve replacing the transmission assembly or internal transmission components.

Visibility,structure,lane Departure →1 issue
Your 2023 Camry developed a mildew smell in the cabin, and you discovered the front passenger carpet was wet from rainwater leaking from underneath the vehicle. Additionally, your windshield cracked on multiple occasions without any objects hitting it, and your Lane Departure warning feature stopped working. Your dealer has been notified of these issues, which occurred around 8,000 miles. Repairs may involve sealing the water leak source, replacing the windshield, and diagnosing the Lane Departure camera or sensor system.

Your front driver's side headlight lens detached from the headlight while your car was parked, with no crash involved. This reduced your visibility while driving. The dealership determined the entire front driver's headlight assembly needs to be replaced rather than just reattaching the lens.

Power Train, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2023 Camry's transmission failed at 62,000 miles without any warning signs, despite regular maintenance. Toyota diagnostics confirmed the transmission needs complete replacement, but they're refusing warranty coverage because you're just over 60,000 miles. The repair will likely involve removing and replacing the entire transmission assembly.

Back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
While warming up your car, multiple safety sensors activated unexpectedly, even though the vehicle appeared normal and you couldn't find any visible damage. This suggests the backup and forward collision avoidance systems may be malfunctioning or miscalibrated. The fix will likely involve a diagnostic scan to identify faulty sensors or a recalibration of the sensor systems.

Latches/locks/linkages →1 issue
Your car's rear passenger doors won't lock using the key fob or the interior lock buttons. The dealer found that the lock actuators (the mechanical devices that engage the locks) on both rear doors had failed and needed replacement. The issue occurred around 37,500 miles.
